This will include four outdoor concerts and will see the band start June 17 at Delmare Forest in Northwich before heading to Scarborough, Halifax, and ending June 23 at Canons Marsh Amphitheatre in Bristol.

The announcement comes after the band recently completed a UK arena tour in support of their new album ‘Never/Know’.

The Kooks are also due to perform at the Isle Of Wight Festival 2026, alongside the likes of The Cure, Lewis Capaldi, Calvin Harris, Sex Pistols. Other artists performing over the weekend on June 18-21 at Seaclose Park include The Last Dinner Party, Wet Leg, and Tom Grennan.

Their debut album ‘Inside In/Inside Out’ released in 2006 became an instant classic, achieving quadruple platinum status in the UK.

Following their breakthrough, the band released ‘Konk’ which debuted at number one on the UK Albums Charts.

Over the years, The Kooks have evolved their sound, exploring funk, soul, and electronic sounds in albums like ‘Listen‘ (released in 2014, and ’10 Tracks to Echo in the Dark’ (released in 2022).

In 2021, The Kooks celebrated the 15th anniversary of their debut album with a sold-out UK tour, performing at venues such as London’s Brixton Academy.

Earlier this year, the band embarked on their biggest-ever UK arena tour in support of their seventh studio album ‘Never/Know’. The run included major stops in Manchester, Cardiff, Newcastle, Birmingham, and Brighton, concluding with a headline show at London’s O2 Arena.

Alongside these, the band also played stripped-back shows in grassroots venues, highlighting their commitment to the UK’s live music scene, in hopes to help keep these venues open.

When speaking about the band’s decision to focus on grassroots venues for the tour, frontman Luke Pritchard described these venues as “the lifeblood of the British music scene”.

He said, “Clubs like The Leadmill were vital for us when we started out and it breaks my heart to see these places closing down”, and continued by saying, “It’ll be a sad day if we lose The Leadmill.”

He then added, “The UK government has undervalued live music for too long. They need to do more to keep this industry alive, for the benefit of the country and all future artists that risk not being heard.”

Pre-sale tickets for the outdoor UK summer shows next year will go on sale Wednesday October 29, and can be purchased here.

The first show will commence on the 2nd May at Bear Tree- The Leadmill, though many are excited for their final appearance at HMV Empire in Coventry for its intimate, nostalgic location. The store has been a home for alternative music  fans for several years, and with the band’s alt-rock music history this will make for an exciting performance. 

 

    Alongside this, the eclectic rock band will be hosting an exclusive listening party for their upcoming album ‘Never/Know’. The Kooks have collaborated with Deezer to give away 2 spots to the event on Thursday 1 May along with an opportunity to meet the band and attend a private Q&A. 

The upcoming album ‘Never/know’ was announced earlier this year on the band’s Instagram where they revealed the release date to be 9 May. Additionally, they explain the concept of the project as ‘romantic’, ‘positive’, ‘sunshine’. This will be a welcome release for the band with their uplifting, feel-good punk sound.

The band, well known for bangers like ‘Naive’ and ‘She Moves In Her Own Way’ have released six studio albums and eight EPs. Though their latest single ‘Sunny Baby’ comes three years after their last album release in 2022 ‘10 Tracks to Echo in the dark’. The upbeat, bouncy track ‘Sunny Baby’ lives up to its name in its sweet romance– a perfect March release with the oncoming British sunshine. The band released the track with a laid back, colourful music video.  In a post on X, the Kooks have explained the process and thought behind the love-filled track.

The band will follow these intimate UK performances with an upcoming All Over The World tour scheduled to commence in May.

The band will be joined by special guests lovelytheband throughout this leg with whom they collaborated on the single ‘Jeanie‘ last year. The Kooks, formed in Brighton in 2004, quickly rose to prominence with their debut album ‘Inside In/Inside Out‘ (2006), which achieved quadruple platinum status in the UK. The festival which takes place between Friday 17th September 2021 until Sunday 19th September 2021 has taken to Twitter to announce the line-up.

Announced as the headline acts for this year’s event include Sam Fender, Gerry Cinnamon and Irish singer-songwriter Dermot Kennedy. Kennedy will headline the festival with its first day on Friday, along with Blossoms and British rapper Bugzy Malone. Cinnamon will headline on Saturday after performances from Tom Walker and ‘Naïve’ singers The Kooks. The festival’s final day will be closed by headliner Fender, Sunday also includes sets by Fontaines D.C. and Manchester rockers Pale Waves. Other acts to perform include singer Mahalia, Irish rock band Inhaler, Circa Waves, Nadine Shah and 2020’s one to watch act Billy Nomates. Dermot Kennedy also took to Twitter to announce his headline performance as well as express his excitement for his set.

The festival was cancelled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and has changed promoters since allegations of staff mistreatment. The festival was previously promoted by SSD Concerts who were involved in the claims made public on the company review site Glassdoor after their Instagram account was allegedly hacked, the claims stated that SSD Concerts were underpaying staff and making employees feel uncomfortable at their workplace. The festival is now promoted by one of the largest event promoters within the UK, Kilimanjaro Live.

CEO of Kilimanjaro Live, Stuart Galbraith had this to say about the return of This is Tomorrow.

“The pandemic has caused huge challenges for the live industry in 2020 and 2021 and when the opportunity came up for us to get involved with This Is Tomorrow it was a complete no brainer and a very easy decision for us to make, It’s a brilliant festival with huge potential in an area which has been traditionally over-looked as a music market. We’re delighted to be able to get this back in the diary and hope to see everyone in September for what promises to be one hell of a party.’’

The festival will also be putting on a free festival for NHS key workers as a thank you for their hard work throughout the COVID pandemic. The free festival will take place on the bank holiday Monday May 31st 2021 and will be held in Exhibition Park, headliners include Sam Fender, Gerry Cinnamon and celebrated British rockers Royal Blood. The one-off event will raise money for Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust, South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust, Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust and The Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The album trailer shows a series of images that reflect the scope of the album – galaxies and stars, glitter and glam rock, mountain ranges and total peace. If Hugh Harris is one thing, it is difficult to pin down. Its broad, self-assured range is reflected in the number of instruments and layers that Harris plays with. The string and horn arrangements are self-taught. Those who prepared for the album by listening to its two lead singles, ‘Earth Like You’ and ‘Curious Illustrations’, will likely be pleasantly surprised from the start, by the psychedelic, dreamy quality of ‘Intro’.

When the first single, ‘Earth Like You’, was released, Harris said this: “when I was young I used to get these crazy high temperatures and hear loud noises and feel like my limbs were larger than they were or I was sinking through the ground … The way I deal with that is to imagine it’s some kind of communicative thing with another species and that, in a really strange way, helps to relieve the stress of it. That song came from that feeling.” Then he explained how and why he turned it into a love story. Somehow, this makes complete sense.

Hugh Harris is really a journey of self-exploration, in everything including name. The artist has hinted at some of this in various promotions for the album, speaking about linking his own journey of understanding himself to a number of places, including London, Melbourne, Cuba, India and LA – you can hear all of these influences across its twelve tracks. Harris calls it a “diary”, and you can really sense how much of himself he poured into the lyrics and the self-taught composition.

The album is tinged with love and loss. Harris dedicates it to his parents, and he has selected an old photograph of the two of them for the cover. He tweeted the following: 

Harris follows this up with, “parallel worlds are a big theme on my record.”

Speaking to Metro about his experiences across the world, Harris says, “I learnt to accept the loss of both my parents early on in life and to start seeing the time I did have with them as an enormous gift rather than just something that was unfairly taken away from me. While in India, I also found inner peace and, through my connection to nature and the world, my life became something more of a delightful cosmic cycle of serenity, consciousness and perpetuity. The main intention for my record was sharpened during this time and I even recorded some chanting there, which made it on to the song.”

Hugh Harris is a wonderful amalgamation of experiences and instruments and lyrics and countries. Every now and then you catch a Kooks-like riff or line, but really the only discernible strong influence over Hugh Harris is himself.

After rocking out for the Brighton group since 2004, Hugh Harris has finally released his own work as a soloist. “Earth Like You” has been picked to introduce Harris’s attempt outside The Kooks, and yes, the track is so well crafted with an easy-breezy production, making it a perfect tune for this summertime.

About the song, the guitarist told Dork that it is the first chapter to his own music. “When I was young I used to get these crazy high temperatures and hear loud noises and feel like my limbs were larger than they were or I was sinking through the ground. That’s kind of continued into my adult life.”

He continued, “The way I deal with that is to imagine it’s some kind of communicative thing with another species and that, in a really strange way, helps to relieve the stress of it. That song came from that feeling, then I invented the story of someone falling in love with an alien, but they can’t be together because the alien doesn’t want to live on planet earth until we can learn to look after each other, feel love, and take care of our planet. So they have to travel to different worlds to settle.”

Harris is one of The Kooks’ two founding members left in the band alongside Luke Pritchard. Their most recent album is ‘Let’s Go Sunshine‘ released back in 2018.
