The Cornwall-based music festival, Boardmasters has released its first wave of artists for the 4-day event next summer. The festival takes place from July 7 to July 11 and brings music lovers from all over to Watergate Bay on the Cornish coast. The first headliners have been announced as British grime artist Michael Ebenezer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr, known more commonly as Stormzy and electronic dance duo Saul Milton and Will Kennard, otherwise called Chase & Status.

Both acts are storming the music industry within their respective genres with multiple BBC, BRIT and DJ awards between them. With hundreds of more acts still to be announced, the festival caters to all music tastes booking indie, pop, rock and dance artists alike. Stormzy has become a household name in the music industry, gracing his way through a wide span of music genres like a knife through butter. He rose to fame through his Wicked Skengman series of freestyles over classic grime beats going on to win multiple awards such as a MOBO in 2014 and British Album of The Year at the BRITs amongst others.

Party starters, Chase and Status released their latest album 2 Ruff Vol. 1 on October 27 this year. The album included their popular single ‘Badadan’ featuring Bou and Flowdan which came out earlier this year in July.

The duo have also collaborated with UK dance vocalist, Becky Hill on their joint single ‘Disconnect’. Hill will be playing her own set at Boardmasters next summer. The singer is known for a multitude of collaborations on tracks such as ‘Afterglow’ with Wilkinson, ‘Gecko’ with Oliver Heldens and ‘Crazy What Love Can Do’ with David Guetta.

Other dance artists who will be on the bill include the experimental, electronic duo Bicep, who originate from Belfast, Northern Ireland. They have been hailed by the BBC as “one of the biggest names in UK dance” and have had music debuting at number two on the UK Official Albums Chart and number one on the UK Official Vinyl Albums. This led to two BRIT Award nominations.

Last year the headliners included Lorde, Liam Gallagher and Florence and The Machine. Previous years have seen acts such as The Chemical Brothers, Ed Sheeran, Calvin Harris and Two Door Cinema Club. However some years, the festival had to be cancelled due to poor weather and COVID-19.

The festival was founded in 1981 as a surfing competition and became a home for new music acts in 2005, with festival goers camping at Watergate Bay. The event now consists of surfing and skateboarding competitions happening in and around the town of Newquay and artists playing on stages overlooking the sea. There is currently a maximum capacity of 53,000 surf and music enthusiasts who attend each year. With plenty more artists still to be announced, this festival is one not to miss.

Check out the full line-up below! Tickets are available here

In a whirlwind of anticipation, tickets to next year’s Glastonbury Festival have sold out in under an hour, leaving thousands of hopeful attendees disappointed. The rush to secure a general admission spot at the world-famous music event began at 9am on Sunday morning, with standard tickets priced at £360.

57 minutes later, however, festival organisers took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to announce that sales were now closed:

“Tickets for Glastonbury 2024 have now sold out. Our thanks to everyone who bought one and we’re sorry to those of you who missed out, on a morning when demand greatly exceeded supply. There will be a resale of any cancelled or returned tickets in spring 2024.”

Tickets for Glastonbury 2024 have now Sold Out. Our thanks to everyone who bought one and we’re sorry to those of you who missed out, on a morning when demand greatly exceeded supply.

There will be a resale of any cancelled or returned tickets in spring 2024.

— Glastonbury Festival (@glastonbury) November 19, 2023

The news left a large amount of empty-handed queuers disgruntled about the stressful buying experience, which requires navigating a holding page that refreshes every 20 seconds and teases ticket availability.

This year’s sale faced a brief delay of two weeks, a decision made by organisers to accommodate individuals who were not aware their initial registrations had expired. The window was reopened from November 6th to November 13th, allowing fans a second chance to secure their spots for the Somerset-based event, which is due to kick off in late June of next year.

The heightened anticipation surrounding Glastonbury 2024 revolves not only around the rapid ticket sales but also the promise of a stellar lineup. Festival organiser Emily Eavis hinted at a “really big” female US singer headlining, sparking rumours that Madonna could be topping the bill at Worthy Farm next year.

Eavis, who faced criticism for the all-male headliners in 2023, has since shut down the speculations in an Instagram post, insisting:

“We are working on the line-up day and night at the moment, but it’s still changing every day. The story about our confirmed headliners is untrue. As always, we love your enthusiasm and guesswork – but accurate news on headliners will be with you sometime in the new year.”

The rise in demand for Glastonbury admission has been a growing trend since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic: last year’s festival saw around two and a half million people vying for 210,000 tickets. Meanwhile, ticket prices have increased to £355 (plus a £5 booking fee), up from £335 in 2023 and £285 in 2022.

When someone thinks outside the box, a general refreshment shifts the whole dynamic of the assignment at hand. It offers new paths to be discovered in order to deal with things differently. I guess one could consider that thinking outside the box is a manner of looking forwards. Other than backwards. Just like the bristol based festival FORWARDS.

The festival comes back after their very successful debut edition last year, announcing two big headlines who are ready to rock the festival off the boat. The event is going to be lead by one of the most influential and celebrated electronic musicians of all time, Aphex Twin, known for his innovative and experimental approach to the making of his music. Backing up, expect to see the eclectic Erykah Badu. She is amongst the biggest neo-soul idols of the industry and she definitely knows how to put on a show.

A selection of other unmissable artists also have a spot in the lineup. These include Bonobo, Primal Scream, Arlo Parks, Raye, Leftfield, Amyl and The Sniffers, Viagra Boys and many more. Hosted at Clifton Downs in Bristol from the 1st September to the 2nd.

The reason why the festival adopted such a name like FORWARDS, is because it’s ideology toward a greater cause is particularly prominent within their handbook. Not only do they put their head down to put on the best live acts and musical experiences for the Bristol audience, but they take into account the particular discrepancies found amongst the public’s possible unfortunate dysfunctionalities and impairments.

As part of their schedule they include a section named The Information. An offered opportunity for fans to get involved in a space dedicated to hosting debates and discussions alongside experts, creatives, disruptors, writers and thinkers. It is a challenge to create an interactive dynamic in the affair to get people to speak their opinion. After last years success with Jack Monroe and Jay Rayner they return with further announcements down the line.

As well as the latter they have adapted a number of other improvements such as host a Social Initiative programme to create awareness towards positive change. A Capture Forwards programme which invites photographer startups to get first hand experience in shooting a live event to kick start their career.

Claimed “a progressive-minded festival” - a statement made by The Guardian. A fair affirmation after finding out that NHS workers get a discounted ticket, as a thank you for the hard work they put in for the country. As well as balanced discounts for residents and low-income customers. It is safe to say the festival has been named quite accurately.

Tickets go on sale on the 24th March at 10am. The pre sale, however, is on the 23rd March at 10am.

A very special accomplishment for, this year’s edition of one of the most famous heavy rock festivals in the UK, Download Festival. It has been on a rollercoaster ride ever since it was first launched back in 2003, and this year they come back to celebrate their 20th anniversary no quieter than any other years. The 20 year-old event has just come to launch an additional 40 acts to their line-up, preparing the party goers for an unforgettable experience. As they never fail to do, every time it comes round.

Every year the festival runs over the course of a well invested three days. However, this year is a special edition of four days packed up to the brim with industry leading bands within the rock and heavy metal scene. Their roster is looking juicy with a now confirmed 60 acts on the list. The meal prep for the final main dish is in full swing and it’s already starting to smell good.

The appetising line-up announced for this year 2023, will be lead by three unmissable headline acts such as the eminent Metallica, playing for the first time since 2012 at said festival with a fortunate two headlining shows on the Thursday, 8th of June and Saturday, 10th of June, showcasing two completely different sets with unrepeated setlists. Alongside them, the Sheffield band Bring Me The Horizon will be taking the headline position on the Thursday, 8th June and Slipknot will be taking the main stage on the Sunday, 11th June.

Like every year, the event is held in the hallowed grounds of rock, Donington Park, next to East Midland Airport located in a spot where Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire come to meet, with this years landing on the 8th of June running through to the 11th of June.

The headliners will be accompanied by a number of respected bands such as Evanescence, Parkway Drive, Disturbed, Alexisonfire, Ghost, The Distillers, Architects, I Prevail, The Blackout, Motionless In White, Placebo, Fever 333, Municipal Waste and a great selection more.

It is clear the bands contain a special spot for the festival. This is notable as Slipknot turntablist mentioned: “Download Festival! So many great memories, one of the most amazing crowds to play in front of, always an honour to share the bill with so many amazing bands, and of course, I’ll never miss the opportunity to play my homeland.”

As well as a heartfelt Metallica stating : “We are next-level honoured to once again come back and partake in the Download shenanigans on the hallowed grounds of Castle Donington, which has an unparalleled place in rock history. On top of that, to be able to share our double show format with two completely unique sets with no repeat songs for the first time ever in the UK is way fuckin’ cool. Bring it on!!”

Tickets are on sale here.

UK’s leading heavy rock festival, Desertfest, has come back louder than ever for their eleventh edition this 2023 in London. The annual festival, based in Camden, has now confirmed a compelling line up that any headbanger would be wise not to miss. It has been confirmed that the shows will undergo from the Friday, 5th of May until the Sunday, 7th of May, showcasing a full combination of heavy genres such as stoner rock, psychedelic rock, doom, sludge, heavy metal etc.

The underground shows will be held, as usual, in six iconic rock venues around the heavy-loving neighbourhood, this year compromising of The Roundhouse, The Electric Ballroom, The Underworld, The Black Heart, The Devonshire Arms and Powerhaus Camden. Some of which are a new edition to the yearly festival.

We’ve been granted news of the final bands to have joined the line-up, and once again, we have not been let down. The roster includes great bands such as, on the first day, the French post-metal band Year Of No Light playing their first gig in London since 2013, the hardcore-punk foursome Bad Breeding from the unbowed Stevenage, Electric Funeral covering Sabbath tunes and many more.

The second day, expect to be plastered by another series of significant rockers, together with one of Sweden’s first and most enduring stoner rock bands Dozer, the so-called ‘fathers or the desert’ Fatso Jetson and the American band Corrosion of Conformity bringing a slower, blues-tinged heavy metal to the table, who have not played on UK soil since 2018.

Following up on Sunday’s final blast we find the heavy groove trio Nebula, Antwerp’s stoner rock legends Gnome, the British riff-driven Uncle Acid and The Deadbeat, Japanese experimental-rock band Boris and many, many more.

It is a relished festival, which comes back round every year with great feedback from its regular fans. Desertfest winds way back to 2011, when its first event was ever made, always happening between the months of April and May. The first event, originally took place in London. However, after receiving such a response, as well as high demand, the event was extended to also take place in Berlin a couple months afterwards. In 2014, Desertfest Antwerp, Belgium was announced. Following its steady growth, the festival now also takes place in Ghent and even made it across the pond to New York.

Not only is it a publicly loved festival, however, it is also considered a safespace for repeatedly welcomed bands who return to the stage each year. Seen almost as a family reunion for most artists, they consider it to be a highlight of the year, in reconciliation with other fellow artists having played alongside each other throughout the years. The band Lowrider share in an interview last year; “Desertfest is always so relaxed and welcoming, it’s our third time here. We know lots of the other bands and it almost feels like an old school class or family reunion. The build up to Desertfest has been incredible, the most excited I can recall since waiting to get a Nintendo at Christmas when I was about 10-years-old!”

Tickets for both weekend and day passes are now available to buy online here.

In a recent post on their Instagram it seems like indie rockers Sports Team may have just leaked some potentially top secret Glastonbury information. The 6 piece from Cambridge are due to play the John Peel Stage at 12.30 on Sunday 26th June, but it seems the band have already arrived to enjoy the festivities with an Instagram post in the last few hours revealing a somewhat ramshackle looking pitch in the artist camping zone and a rather intriguing screenshot from WhatsApp.

The last slide on the post seems to possibly reveal the much speculated Glastonbury secret sets and even some of the stages you can see them on. Artists and stages named included George Ezra on The Park Stage, Anderson Paak on the West Holts Stage, Arcade Fire on the John Peel Stage, Green Day on the BBC Introducing Stage, Chemical Brothers on the Arcadia Stage, Megan The Stallion playing with Due Lipa, and even… Drum roll please… Billie Eilish joining Harry Styles on stage. None of this has been confirmed, and knowing Sports Teams playful notoriety, none of it has probably been permitted by the powers that be at Worthy Farm either. One thing is for sure though, if any of it possesses even a glimmer of truth then Sports Team have just dropped a serious spoiler. With collaborations like Billie Eilish and Harry Styles possibly in the pipeline, it’s fair to say Glastonbury just got that little bit more interesting.

The world renowned festival is now well underway, with Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis opening the gates on Wednesday 22 June and revellers pitching their tents and flocking to Worthy Farms luscious fields in preparation for the main lineup to begin tomorrow. This years headliners include Gen Z superstar Billie Eilish, Beatles legend Paul McCartney, and American lyrical sensation Kendrick Lamar, all of whom are due to grace the historic Pyramid Stage throughout the weekend. It marks the first time the festival has opened its gates in 2 years due to the perpetual cancelations and delays caused by the pandemic, but back with a bang now, everyone attending seems to be enjoying themselves, happy and grateful to return after years of government enforced lockdowns and distancing measures.

To those there right now, we sincerely hope the rumours listed above are true, and if so, that Sports Team don’t get into too much trouble either.

The Netherlands festival, which takes place at Evenemententerrein Walibi Holland in Biddinghuizen, is set to return this year from August 19-21.

The festival with an average attendance of about 55,000 visitors will feature over 200 acts on more than ten stages. Arctic Monkeys lead the 68 new additions to the Lowlands 2022 line-up that were announced yesterday (February 2).

The bill, which was posted on the festival’s official Instagram page also includes many other UK artists such as former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher and winner of the Mercury Prize Arlo Parks as well as Lewis Capaldi, Bring Me The Horizon, Sam Fender, Slowthai, Wet Leg and Yard Act among others.

Originally the successor to one of the first Dutch music festivals: A Flight to Lowlands Paradise the annual three-day festival isn’t just for musical acts. In fact, it offers an indoor and outdoor cinema, street theatre, cabaret, stand-up, ballet and many other varieties of performance.

Pre-sale tickets for the festival will be available from 11 am on Saturday (February 5), and will also be open to those who bought tickets for the Lowlands in either 2020 or 2021. Any remaining tickets will then go on sale on February 12 at 11 am. When they are available you can purchase your tickets and find out any further information about this year’s festival by going here.

Fans who attend the festival may also get the chance to hear some new tunes from the Arctic Monkeys, as back in November the band’s drummer Matt Helders revealed that their latest album is “pretty much” finished and is likely to arrive this year. He was asked on 5 Live Breakfast by presenter Rick Edwards if the new album and follow-up to 2018’s Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino was “ready to go”. Helders replied: “Yeah, pretty much, yeah. It was a bit disjointed how we had to do it, and there are bits to finish off, but yeah, it’s all in the works.”

Arctic Monkeys’ latest festival booking has added further on to their already busy summer tour schedule, with a whole host of gigs planned in Europe as well as a headline slot at Reading & Leeds Festival.

Ed Sheeran’s performance at the Big Weekend will be his first in over a year after he announced a break from music in December 2019. The British pop star announced his break on Instagram, writing: “Gonna go on another break again. The Divide era and tour changed my life in so many ways, but now it’s all over it’s time to go out and see some more of the world. I’ve been a bit non stop since 2017 so I’m just gonna take a breather to travel, write and read.” After becoming a Dad late last year, Sheeran released a new song ‘Afterglow’ in December 2020.

Other artists among the weekend’s line-up are rising UK stars Enny, Bad Boy Chiller Crew and Kynsy, who will be performing remotely via a pre-recorded set. In a statement on this year’s line-up, Radio 1 wrote: “Alongside the new sets, listeners will be able to enjoy some of the most memorable Radio 1 performances to have taken place in recent years, from Piano Sessions to the Live Lounge, as well as previous Big Weekend performances. The line-up includes performances from Rihanna, Harry Styles, Miley Cyrus, The 1975, Sam Smith, Foals, Lizzo, Dua Lipa and many more.”

This is the second year in a row Radio 1’s iconic summer event has had to move online due to the coronavirus pandemic. It will be streamed across BBC Sounds and BBC IPlayer between 28 May and 31 May to be enjoyed “in parks, on beaches, in pub gardens” as coronavirus UK lockdown restrictions ease. Last year the event was due to be held in Dundee, but due to uncertainty around the pandemic, the radio station ultimately cancelled the Scotland based event.

The Isle of Wight Festival has announced the 2021 line up. Taking into consideration UK Government’s roadmap on easing COVID restrictions, the event has postponed its happening from June until mid-September 2021 and the capacity will be reduced to 50,000 people for this year. However, the event seems ready to host international stars: the confirmed headliners are Liam Gallagher for Friday, Snow Patrol and David Guetta for Saturday, whereas Duran Duran will close the festival on Sunday 19th.

There will be many surprises for this year’s Isle of Wight. Indeed, the festival acquired by Live Nation in 2017 will feature the performances of veteran performer Tom Jones, The Script, Example and James Arthur, amongst more than 50 other performers. The organisers reassure that the reduced capacity event will still happen at its original venue – allowing social distancing – and that there will be more handwashing facilities, as part of the robust COVID measures the team is taking into consideration.

John Giddings, founder of Solo Agency and promoter of the event, stated: ‘Our audience always has an incredible time at the festival and we’re thrilled with the line-up on offer for them. It’s a fantastic array of artists; from icons to emerging talent and not forgetting everything still to come from additional stages across the festival. Over the coming months we’ll be watching and learning from the events taking place before us and, of course, liaising with all the relevant authorities to make sure everyone – audience, artists, staff, the community – is kept safe. See you in September!’

Tickets for the event are on sale now on the Isle of Wight Festival website. This gathering is one of the UK summer festivals which planned to go ahead this summer. As previously mentioned, the running of these events will entirely depend on the success of the COVID vaccination campaign, COVID variants and the infection rate, which has to be low enough to ensure a smooth running of the events.

Iconic Cornish venue The Watering Hole are returning to host more shows as a part of ‘Bands in the Sands’. The first headliners have since been announced on their website. Performing artists include American blues musician Seasick Steve, trip-hop heavyweights Morcheeba, and Blue Note signed funk/jazz musician Tom Misch. Headline acts will perform separate shows on separate dates between July and September this year.

Organisers boast “A brand new series of events, set on the beautiful golden sands of Perranporth beach in Cornwall. With a sea view as a stunning backdrop, sand at your feet & the sun on your back, these events will be truly unique. Born from the incredible live music that has been happening at The Watering Hole, the UK’s only venue on a beach and the organisers of Tunes in the Dunes festival. This is a first of its kind series of events in Perranporth, not to be missed.” Perranporth is three miles of sandy beach with some of the best waves in the country, complete with a natural tidal pool and an Atlantic ocean view. This makes for a spectacular setting for concerts.

Alongside Bands in the Sands, the aptly named ‘Tunes in the Dunes’ is also slated for the Summer of 2021. Rescheduled to the first weekend of September, this three-day festival taking place at the same picturesque venue will host headlining acts Tom Walker, Richard Ashcroft and a beach party by Craig David. Various glamping opportunities are available on sites near the beach, including the intriguing Shire Hut’s. These life-sized hobbit hole cabins built with local materials will make for a cosy high end stay. As Tunes in the Dunes enters its sixth year of operation, it is set to become the biggest instalment of the festival yet, hoping to bounce back in tandem with other small festivals across the nation after the pandemic struggle.
