James Blunt’s twitter success has led to inspiration for his new book titled, ‘How To Be a Complete and Utter Blunt: Diary of a Reluctant Social Media Sensation. He’s become quite a comedian on Twitter, not being afraid to mock himself and using sarcasm wittingly he reveals to Metro that the key to his success is, “not take yourself too seriously”

His releases his humorous biography this week and thanks his twitter trolls for the inspiration behind his new book. He admits to ‘The List’ that, “Twitter brings out the worst in people.” He added that “Twitter allows me to reply to people as a human rather than a marketing team … in fact, I am just a vulgar idiot. Twitter brings out the worst in people and Instagram brings out a side in people to show off their life that doesn’t really exist. “That results in other people feeling inadequate about themselves.”

With over 2 million twitter followers, James appears regularly on the news feed although he’s not modest about his success and he told Metro “I really don’t care, actually. I only reply once a month because I know the real world is a much more interesting and better place and I suppose it’s just not taking it seriously – or taking myself too seriously.”

His witty comebacks to his critics have made James a very popular person to follow. One woman who requested that “we take a moment to remember just how awful James Blunt was” to which James replied, “No need, I have a new album coming soon.” On another occasion when someone mocked him for only having 200,000 followers he replied, “Jesus only needed 12.” The Express

Metro noted that another critic tweeted, “I’m on the metro and drunk while listening to music, but I genuinely don’t know how @jamesblunt isn’t regraded as the best musician in the planet. You’re all asleep!” James Blunt’s comeback was, “Kids – this is why we don’t drink and tweet.”

James has been through a difficult time recently due to his father’s ill health having suffered from a chronic kidney disease. He’s recently made a recovery having been donated a kidney by James’ cousin Charles Blount. James shows his appreciation towards his cousin and he told The Express, “My father is very well and has been given a new lease of life. My father and I are incredibly grateful to the generosity of my cousin, who’s now become a much closer cousin.”

Having come through all this, James has a lot to look forward to with his new book being published on Thursday 5th November. He explains to Metro his reasons behind his book as the second lockdown is fast approaching, “The second wave of virus is with us now. People have been panic buying loo roll and there is a shortage. This book is designed to be read sitting on the loo and pages used as appropriate afterwards.” –

Many Scottish gigs and festivals are under threat of cancellation since First Minister Nicola Sturgeon called for a ban on gatherings of more than 500 people. This is in an attempt to control the coronavirus outbreak, but will ruin the plans of both artists and fans.

Sturgeon spoke at First Minister’s Questions yesterday, saying that her government is advising that the ban should be put in place from next week. She explained that while scientists have advised that cancelling large gatherings will not have a “significant impact” on containing the virus, this action would help free up emergency services and was therefore required.

This is due to the fact that “mass gatherings require to be policed“, and they need to have “emergency ambulance cover” as well as “voluntary health services,” as Sturgeon said. The First Minister went on to say that “at a time when we need to be reducing the pressures on these frontline workers – in order to free them up to focus on the significant challenge that lies ahead – I do think it’s inappropriate that we continue as normal.”

A reminder that from start of next week, to help with efforts against #coronavirus and reduce pressure on our emergency services @scotgov is also advising cancellation of events with more than 500 people. Further guidance on practical application will be issued over weekend. https://t.co/0bttksgC7r

Artists who have gigs planned in Scotland this year include The Killers, Post Malone and Tom Jones with Sam Fender, Lewis Capaldi, and Blossoms all meant to perform in March. If the ban is set, none of these shows will go ahead, causing loss of profit for artists, venues, and crew, along with the loss of any pre-paid costs such as travel.

Currently, there has been no further news on the order, though there have now been 60 cases of the virus confirmed in Scotland. The UK Government has confirmed that coronavirus is in the delay phase of controlling the outbreak.

Not only has Scotland been affected, but artists, bands and events worldwide have been postponed or cancelled because of Covid-19. The latest band to postpone their tour was The Who, with others including Stormzy, Madonna, and Pearl Jam. Snowboming festival and Coachella have also been cancelled for 2020.

Daltrey and Townshend were due to play at the Manchester Arena. Other performances across the country have all been affected. A special show was also due to go ahead at London’s Royal Albert Hall on March 28. This was in aid of the annual Teenage Cancer Trust shows.

Today, in response to the cancellation, The Who issued an official statement. They said: “After serious consideration, it is with much regret that The Who have postponed their U.K. tour, due to start next Monday March 16 in Manchester at the Manchester Arena and finishing at Wembley SSE Arena on April 8.”

They further promised that the canceled dates would be rescheduled. The Who added that “all tickets will be honoured.”

They felt that “the fans’ safety is paramount”, and were left with no option but to cancel the gigs. Roger Daltrey assured the shows would “definitely happen and it may be the last time we do a tour of this type, so keep those tickets, as the shows will be fantastic”.

Townshend added that the band “haven’t reached this decision easily, but given the concerns about public gatherings, we couldn’t go ahead”.
