Hot off the launch of their recent concert movie and album ‘L.I.V.E. In São Paolo’, a recording of their biggest-ever live show which they released in cinemas in March and as a live album last week, BMTH have never been as prolific as they are right now. Since fourth album ‘Sempiternal’ rewrote the template for the metalcore sub-genre, the group have developed into an innovative alternative metal juggernaut, with their most-recent ‘Post Human’ releases combining metal, hardcore punk, pop, and electronic elements in a uniquely accessible form.

But at the time ‘Count Your Blessings’ released in 2006, they were just a group of teenagers from South Yorkshire creating a savage, disorganised breed of early deathcore. Bring Me The Horizon formed in Sheffield in 2004 before releasing their first EP ‘This Is What The Edge Of Your Seat Was Made For’, which although marred by a harsh DIY mix, was a promising first attempt. Their chaotic live performances and the buzz from new label Visible Noise re-releasing the EP led to them gaining a significant underground following, with Kerrang recognising them as their Best British Newcomer at their 2006 award ceremony.

When the album did come out that year, it was largely to mixed reviews, and was never considered a landmark release by critics. Tracks like ‘Pray For Plagues’ and ‘(I Used To Make Out With) Medusa’ earned them a legion of fans, but the sound was never revisited on their sonic journey. After what was a disjointed, angsty teenage breakthrough, BMTH’s ferocity tempered following each release, with their immature early sound gradually replaced with an ultra-polished mix, more-typical song structure and clean vocals. In recent years however, the band’s most-veteran fans’ calls for a familiar, heavier release have only amplified – and the band have listened.

Last week, billboards went on display around Manchester with the message ‘PRAY FOR PLAGUES’, but social media detectives didn’t have to wait long for the answer to the mystery. Today, Bring Me The Horizon made two huge announcements – not only are they remaking and re-releasing ‘Count Your Blessings’ for its 20th anniversary, they will also be performing a special one-off rendition of it in partnership with Manchester’s premier hardcore gathering, Outbreak Fest. As for the reissue, which they have titled ‘Count Your Blessings | Repented’, it is due to be recorded from scratch, retuned to be as they put it “reborn, sharper, heavier and more vital than ever.”

The Manchester show will be the first time the album has been played in its entirety, and the setlist will also include other songs from that stage of their careers. BMTH want the night to be “a defining moment for a generation of fans — both those who were there at the beginning and those discovering it now.” Their earliest LPs ‘Count Your Blessings’ and its hugely-popular follow-ups ‘Suicide Season’ and ‘There Is A Hell…’ have effectively been erased from the band’s live rotation for over a decade now, give or take the odd cameo where frontman Oli Sykes is still more than capable of his then-trademark screams and growls.

The reissue ‘Count Your Blessings | Repented’ releases on the 10th of July, with the live show taking place at Manchester’s B.E.C. Arena on the same day. Tickets for ‘Outbreak Festival Presents: Count Your Blessings | Repented’ go on general sale on Friday the 17th of April at 10AM, with a pre-sale live now accessible with any pre-order of the album before 3PM on the 14th. Also playing are Static Dress, Dying Wish, Heriot, Rolo Tomassi, Car Underwater and Still In Love.

Bring Me The Horizon have announced a new concert film with a worldwide cinema release. Titled ‘L.I.V.E. In São Paolo (Live Immersive Visual Experiment)’, it is a recording of their biggest headline show to date, performed in 2024 in front of 50,000 people at the Allianz Parque Stadium in São Paolo, Brazil.

Bring Me The Horizon (BMTH) formed in Sheffield in 2004, when their members were all teenagers. Now 22 years into their existence as a band, vocalist Oli Sykes, guitarist Lee Malia, bassist Matt Kean, and drummer Matt Nicholls are at the peaks of their careers. They began as a deathcore band, an extremely harsh offshoot of heavy metal, before changing trajectory with their fourth album ‘Sempiternal’ in 2013, which led them into more mainstream, and yet more experimental territory. In 2024 they had become so well regarded that they won that year’s BRIT Award for Best Rock/Alternative Act.

By 2020, they had become invested in a world of science-fiction and horror storytelling, crafting the lore for their “Post Human” campaign. The first part was sizeable EP ‘Post Human: Surival Horror’ in 2020, followed by LP ‘Post Human: Nex Gen’ in 2024. Both albums used alternate reality games and interactive elements in their social media promotions, which evolved into the conceptual live experience of their current tours.

A band always renowned for their pedigree as a live act, BMTH have made their shows into a truly unique experience. Frontman Oli Sykes’ playful interactions with the crowd, paired with their robotic companion “EVE” building a narrative on the screens throughout the show, has turned their appearances into something akin to a pantomime. It goes without saying that the music backs this up, with album-quality sound at every show, acoustic interludes and track lists spanning most of their catalogue.

Their Post Human touring cycles have brought them to many of the world’s biggest arenas and festival stages. For a band of their youth, it was a big surprise when they headlined Download Festival’s 20th anniversary in 2023, and they have so far headlined Reading and Leeds in 2022 and 2025.

Of all their performances, the sold-out São Paolo one must be the most significant. Brazil is well-known for an incredibly enthusiastic fan culture and warm welcomes to travelling acts. The blurb on Bring Me The Horizon’s website says “Hailed by the band as their best show yet, the film expands the visual universe of Post Human, blending cinematic production, fan perspectives, and character cameos” (referring to their animated narrators).

‘L.I.V.E. In São Paolo’ is described as featuring footage from multiple cameras, drones, and fans in the crowd, designed to give the true experience of being there on the night. The setlist, which can be found here, spans their albums from ‘Sempiternal’ to ‘Post Human: Nex Gen’, with live favourites such as ‘Can You Feel My Heart’ and ‘Kingslayer’ included.

The release for the film begins with the international cinema run, falling on the 25th and 28th of March. It will then launch for home audiences on the 10th of April, and is currently available for preorder as a DVD or CD on Bring Me The Horizon’s merchandise website.

The metal band from Sheffield first played this festival back in 2008, and then again in 2022 when they co-headlined alongside Arctic Monkeys, but last night they came back and headlined solo.

Despite the band starting off as an underground metal group, they have become BRIT Award winners now headlining festivals.

The haven’t performed many shows this year, but the ones they have been in terms of production, including a futuristic set design which fits the aesthetic of their album ‘POST HUMAN: NeX GEn’. 

Production included gaming-inspired animation clips throughout the performance alongside an avatar host providing commentary and appearing on the two stage monitors. They also had laser-like lighting effects, pyrotechnics and fireworks.

During their set, they did their cover of ‘Wonderwall’ by Oasis which was released earlier this year.

Liam Gallagher said, “I fucking LOVE it”, after hearing the metal version when it was released. Bring Me The Horizon said, “We were expecting [Liam] to absolutely rinse us, but he said some actually nice things! It was cool and I think it went down as good as we wished it could.”

As the band left the stage last night, an encore of ‘Drown’ and ‘Throne’ was played as they bid farewell to the crowd, whilst waving Palestinian flags to show their support for Palestine.

Leeds Festival brings in many people each year, with this year having around 75,000 people at Bramham Park, West Yorkshire.

Bring Me The Horizons’ set brought fans feelings of nostalgia and happiness with fans describing the set online as being “the best live performance” they’ve ever seen.

In their announcement post, they share snippets of songs to come in slides, which fans have identified as versions of ‘Doomed’, ‘Kool Aid’ ‘Follow You’ and ‘Throne’, with help from the cryptic hangman-style clue in the final slide. Whilst ‘Follow You’, their initially divisive pop/rock track, flows seamlessly into the style of ambient lo-fi, the band makes more surprising genre transitions. Their energetic metalcore single, ‘Kool Aid’ from their 2024 album ‘Post Human: Gen X’, for instance, seems almost unrecognisable in its wordless, atmospheric reworking.

The band shared on X that these songs are designed for “chilling, focus, sleeping, zoning out…whatever u like”. They also referenced the lo-fi producers who they’ve collaborated with on the project.

This is not the first genre shift from Bring Me The Horizon, a metal band known for experimental and surprising new eras. The band originally found their sound in death metal, with their first albums ‘The Bedroom Sessions’ and ‘Count Your Blessings’. However, since then they have pushed the boundaries of rock and metal, from pop/rock album ‘That’s The Spirit’, which reached number 2 on the Official Albums Chart in 2015, to their 2019 electronic alt-rock album ‘Amo’.

And this is not their first rodeo with lo-fi, having surprised fans with their album ‘Music To Listen To…’ in 2019, an ambient, experimental project with tracks up to 24 minutes long. 

Bring Me The Horizon have been hinting at a style change for several months, posting edits of their songs to 2000s style anime edits. Whilst fans anticipated a new era, many did not expect this to be anything like ‘Lo-Files’. Despite the shock, fans are all-in.

There is particular excitement for remixes of the band’s older and heavier tracks, with one fan hoping for their 2009 metalcore album ‘Suicide Season’ to feature on ‘Lo-Files’.

The song featured on the setlist for the band’s show at Cologne Palladium. Introducing the song, frontman Oli Sykes shared his excitement with the audience, hyping them up for a heavy rendition of a British classic as he called out, “This is going to be the first time we’ve ever played it in front of a live audience. Be kind to us. If you know the words, sing as loud as you can and help us out. Ready to have some fun?”

Fans recorded the cover’s exciting debut performance. 

‘Wonderwall’, from the 1995 album ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory’ has had a number of standout covers from the likes of Ryan Adams and Brad Mehldau Trio. Though, none have reimagined the indie song with such metallic gaul as Bring Me The Horizon. Liam Gallagher responded to the band’s cover for Spotify Singles in a tweet where he says, “I fucking LOVE it”.

The response took the band by surprise, who spoke to NME at the Brit Awards this year about the cover. Drummer Matt Nicholls said, “We were expecting [Liam] to absolutely rinse us,” Sykes went on to say “We always usually cover stuff that no one has ever heard of, so we were like ‘Now let’s try to reimagine something that everyone knows. Make it easy for ourselves’. Here he references their lesser known covers such as John Murphy’s ‘In A House – In A Heartbeat’ and Anhonie’s heart wrenching indie track from 2016 ‘Drone Bomb Me’. The band covered Anhonie’s track in 2019 with an electric metal-pop rendition in the style of ‘Amo’, their most recent album at the time. The Sheffield-born rock band followed the Cologne Palladium show with an electrifying first ever performance at one of Europe’s largest rock festivals at the Nürburgring racetrack, Rock Am Ring. Moments after the performance, fans were already posting their favourite moments of the show on social media.

Towards these shows, the band have posted their older songs to TikTok with edits of a new 2000s style metal aesthetic, moving away from their old video game inspired style. Many fans are speculating that this is the band teasing an EP in a new era after their last album release ‘POST HUMAN: NeX GEn’.

This solo project has been ongoing for Malia throughout April, where the Official Jackson Guitars Instagram revealed the rock guitarist’s involvement with the brand. Here the brand showed Malia speaking about his process in designing his new guitar, Pro Series Signature LM-87. Frontman and vocalist of Bring Me the Horizon Oli Sykes, supported Malia’s solo endeavours in the comments of the post, praising his impressive guitar skills with the exclamation, “Riff goes HARD”.   

Alongside the masterful guitar skills in the post, they linked this interview with Malia where he speaks more in depth about his process and design choices.

In this further exploration of the guitar with YouTube Channel Guitar World, Malia explains his history with the brand, stating that he got his first Jackson guitar at 15 and similarly used a Jackson guitar for Bring Me The Horizon’s first ever European tour. He goes on to say this is “the guitar I’ve dreamed of making”.

The Jackson brand was founded in the late 1970s as an independent guitar brand, emerging in the heavy metal scene and have since been dubbed as “shred machines”. Malia has shown prior involvement and admiration for Jackson Guitars, featuring on their YouTube channel several times over the years, most notably in their The Soloist series.

Malia’s passion and endeavours will not go unseen, with Bring Me The Horizon’s vocalist Oli Sykes recently teasing the idea of new music for the band. Here fans will soon see Malia’s powerful, deep riffs showcased on new music, as it has in past chart-topping albums ‘Amo’ in 2019 and ‘Post Human: Survival Horror’ in 2020. This led them to earn The Alternative/ Rock Act at The Brit Awards last year.

Although, they are also well known for older tracks, rising in popularity with their fourth studio album ‘Sempiternal’ in 2013, a metalcore, hard rock project which showcased fan favourite songs such as ‘Can You Feel My Heart’ and ‘Shadow Moses’. Their latest album ‘Post Human: Next Gen’ experiments with hyperpop, emo and rock, however they showcased their rock routes earlier this year with a creative heavy cover of ‘Wonderwall’ by Manchester indie rock legends, Oasis.

Bring Me The Horizon’s last album ‘Post Human: Nex Gen’ was released in May 2024. The album saw some more experimental genre-fusion from the band, combining their heavy sound with hyperpop, electronica and pop-punk. Most critics gave the project positive reviews, with The Guardian calling it “a defining album of our digitally overloaded era.”

In an interview with NME last December, Sykes said the Sheffield metal outfit have some new music ready for their headline sets at Reading & Leeds 2025. He also told Kerrang! that the band have a lot of material left over from their last album: “We wrote so much for NeX GEn, there’s so many cool songs that are kicking about, and I think the world would love to hear them.”

The hard rockers have a few performances planned for this year – they recently announced a North American arena tour starting in Autumn and will also appear at Kentucky’s Louder Than Life festival in September.

In Europe, they have a few festival slots scheduled – first, at Germany’s Rock am Ring and Rock im Park in June, before returning to the UK for the Reading and Leeds festivals in August. All their upcoming dates can be found on their website.

Sykes said in the same interview with NME that the band’s new songs were “not a new album or anything, but some new material for the set” at Reading and Leeds. He also said that these British shows will be an end to the band’s current era: “These will be our only shows in the UK next year, and our final shows before we go away for maybe quite some time. This is will be the conclusion of the ‘Nex Gen’ run for sure.”

Bring Me The Horizon have cemented their status and legacy as one of modern metal’s most important groups. While the music of their early days was firmly rooted in aggressive deathcore, their 2010 releases saw a refined sound with anthemic, accessible rock flavours and mixes of different genres. Their sixth album, ‘Amo’, grabbed Bring Me The Horizon their highest charting position, debuting at #1 on the UK Albums Chart.

Irish post-punk favourites Fontaines D.C. recently covered Bring Me The Horizon for Australia’s “triple j” radio station – combining the metal group’s hit ‘Can You Feel My Heart’ with elements of Nirvana’s ‘Heart Shaped Box’. You can see our write-up on that here.

Guitarist Conor Curley shed light on why they chose to tackle Bring Me The Horizon’s track, which originally appeared on the Sempiternal album. “It was Grian’s idea from the start,” Curley explained, referring to frontman Grian Chatten. “The electronic elements and overall mood of the song felt aligned with what we explored on our last album, ‘Romance‘, so it made sense as a starting point. Plus, it’s a moody, beautiful song.”

As for incorporating ‘Heart-Shaped Box’, Curley revealed that Nirvana’s 1993 classic holds a personal significance for him. “It was probably one of the first songs I learned on guitar in drop D [tuning],” he shared. Interestingly, the band briefly considered swapping the Bring Me The Horizon track entirely for ‘Heart-Shaped Box’, before ultimately deciding to fuse the two. “Grian just started playing it during soundcheck, and we thought, ‘Do we switch to that instead?’” Curley recalled.

Unfortunately, Fontaines D.C. had to cancel their planned South American tour, which was set to follow their Australia and New Zealand dates. Frontman Grian Chatten suffered a herniated disc, forcing the band to pull out of shows across Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, and Colombia.

Expressing his disappointment, Chatten shared a statement at the time: “I’ve been looking forward to playing in these incredible countries for years, and it’s heartbreaking to be here in Mexico City and not be able to take the stage. But today, I was advised that I need urgent medical attention. We deeply appreciate your support, and from the bottom of my heart, I’m sorry I can’t perform for you.”

Despite the setback, the band’s Like A Version session stands as a powerful testament to their ability to reimagine music in their own distinctive style.

The band’s latest album ‘Romance‘ recently peaked at number two on UK charts. Their previous release ‘Skinty Fia‘, was published in 2022 and peaked at number one.

Travis Scott is one of hip-hop’s most influential artists, with hits like ‘Sicko Mode’. Bring Me The Horizon is a British band which blends metalcore with pop and electronic elements. This band frequently headlines major rock festivals like Download Festival and Reading & Leeds (previously in 2018). Their performances are intense, blending metalcore aggression with crowd-pleasing anthems.

Folk and soul meet in Hozier’s poignant music. Known for ‘Take Me to Church’ and ‘Cherry Wine’, his lyrics often delve into themes of love, social justice, and spirituality, delivered with haunting melodies. Hozier has graced stages at Glastonbury and Electric Picnic, captivating audiences with soulful, stripped-back performances that contrast with festival chaos. His 2025 set promises similar intimacy. If you’re following his work closely, it seems Hozier might take occasional quiet periods for songwriting and reflection, but he remains actively engaged with his music and his audience.

The 2024 Reading & Leeds Festival featured six headline acts: Fred again.., Lana Del Rey, Liam Gallagher, Blink-182, Catfish and the Bottlemen, and Gerry Cinnamon.

Having been in the studio with Spiritbox in January, getting busy, it now also looks like Jordan Fish has been working with them.

The Brighton-based behemoths have just taken to social media to tease us with the fact that they have been working with Jordan Fish. They shared a graphic featuring the Architects ‘A’ logo along with the word ‘Curse’ and some cool art. Then they went a step further and actually tagged Jordan’s account on Instagram.

This would likely be the Architects first new material since December’s ‘Seeing Red’. As for Jordan, well, it will be the first we have heard from him since he parted ways with Bring Me The Horizon late last year.

At that time, Jordan announced that he was “excited to start this next period of my career, focusing for the meantime on songwriting and production”, but it is yet to be announced what his new role within the Architects may be. We’ll have to wait for the new single.

In leaving BMTH, Alt-metal juggernauts Bring Me the Horizon issued a statement regarding a personnel change within the band. After more than 11 years as the keyboardist, percussionist and producer for the band, Jordan Fish is parting ways with Bring Me. The news arrives as the band continues to work on their highly-anticipated Next Gen release.

In a statement release on December 22nd, the band confirmed the change and teased a glimpse at Next Gen in the very near future. “Bring Me The Horizon has decided to part ways with Jordan Fish. We want to thank him for the musical journey he took with us and wish him luck with everything in the future. Meanwhile we continue to work on ‘Nex Gen’, with brand new music coming very soon. See you on our UK tour in January.”

Releasing his own statement, the split seemed to be amicable with Fish sharing his appreciation for his time with the band while looking ahead to his next venture. “I’m really grateful for my 11 years with the band, and extremely proud of all that we have achieved together. I look forward to hearing what they do next, and wish them every success in the future. I’m excited to start this next period of my career, focusing for the meantime on songwriting and production.”
