Georgia took to Instagram to announce the video release saying; “HE ‘FEEL IT’ MUSIC VIDEO IS OUT NOW!!! Go watch me & @yungbabytate jump off a plane. We couldn’t be together to shoot because of lockdown, so we animated ourselves!!!”

Feel It is originally a song from Georgia’s second album Seeking Thrills, which was shortlisted for a Mercury award. The song was reworked by English DJ Todda T, who added in vocals from Yung Baby Tate. Speaking about the collaboration, Georgia said; “It was wicked that Yung Baby Tate was up for putting her flavour on ‘Feel It’, says Georgia. “She took it to the next level!”

Seeking Thrills was released in January of this year, under Domino Recording Company. It includes singles like Starting Out, Never Let You Go and About Work The Dancefloor. After her Mercury nomination she took to Instagram to say; “im so truly thankful for this nomination. Seeking Thrills was an absolute joy to make, i went on a such a journey with it. You know when they say music is our therapy, this record really was that for me.”

Track 4 features Yung Baby Tate on the track Damn Daniel, Track 6 Features Maliibu Miitch on Gucci and a bonus remix of Little Nokia will have the highly anticipated Rico Nasty feature on track 9. Track 3 however, ATM, has not yet announced the special collaborator but Runway has confirmed the appearance from a surprise feature.

Born and bred in Hackney, London, this singer/songwriter rapper signed with Virgin EMI Records in 2018. Runway then released her first EP, Be Runway in 2019. The single 2ON off that EP became a hit, even being featured in Paper Magazines Top 50 Songs of 2019.

Runway continued her rise in the industry with success in 2020 with the released of the single Damn Daniel featuring Yung Baby Tate which was dropped with the now famous quarantine-edition music video on April 30th. Annie Mac’s Future Sounds on BBC Radio 1 named Damn Daniel the ‘Hottest Record in the World’.

Her many released singles and one EP consist of music that span genres. Runway merges hip-hop and pop in a fresh way and though she is known for her london-rap sound, she is a powerful singer in her own right.

Runway contributes to the songwriting process as well, being credited as co-writer on many of her hit songs. Her lyricism is skilled and clear, fans can experience her creative expertise especially in track 8, No Sir, which features Runway freestyling, otherwise known as rapping verse on the spot.

The London artist performed multiple live songs for her YouTube series ‘Fresh From Home Live Performances’ last month. Due to safety concerns surrounding Covid-19, Runway does not have any live in-person shows or concerts coming up in late 2020 or early 2021 as of right now.

The new mixtape announced today, 2000AND4EVA will be released next Friday, November 6th and will be available for streaming on all media platforms. The mixtape is highly anticipated and the track-list, released today, is below.

The original version of the track was accompanied by a video created by Raine Allen-Millar that showed a series of women from different backgrounds and of different ages drumming. The song and video are a ‘homage’ to female drummers, but also to women in general to ‘inspire them to do what they feel. Whatever that is…’. 

Toddla T’s production makes the rework even more feel-good than the original, with the bass turned up and an a dancehall beat added. It is a dance track with a chorus that makes you want to jump around the room, reflecting the song’s message of self-expression and creative freedom.

Yung Baby T, who is best known for her feature on Ashnikko’s track, STUPID, also injects song with a new lease of life. Her smooth voice raps ‘just a little girl taking time tryna find herself’, adding new lyrics that are cohesive with the original songs inspirational message. In her Instagram story, Georgia called Yung Baby Tate ‘amazing’ and said elsewhere: ‘it was wicked that Yung Baby Tate was up for putting her flavour on Feel It. She took it to the next level’.

Georgia has had a good year. Her 2020 EP Seeking Thrills, filled with club bangers and woke messages, was met with positive reviews and got her shortlisted for the Hyundai Mercury Prize. She said of being nominated: ‘It’s a massive, incredible surprise. It’s really helped. Because of not having the live shows and not playing to new audiences, it’s really helped with the campaign, keeping the album going and introducing me to some more audiences. Also, the accolade of just being nominated is a real achievement and I feel very proud.’

Stand out tracks Started Out and About Work the Dance Floor epitomised Georgia’s style, which combines 80’s electronica with pop-like vocals. The album is an ode to the dance floor, but although she is immersed club culture, she doesn’t drink anymore. In the past, she has had a tricky relationship with alcohol, speaking of binge drinking sessions resulting in ‘self-destructive’ and dangerous behaviour.

Now healthy and sober, she can still go out and enjoy a dance. Georgia’s music does not glamorise hedonism, it is about the natural high of being creative and being yourself. Her latest rework is no exception.
