Josh Franceschi (pictured centre), the lead singer of now-defunct British rock band You Me At Six, has announced plans to record and release new music. He suggested this quite plainly through social media posts showing blurry images of studios, although he has yet to clarify the nature of his next project.

You Me At Six were formed in Weybridge, Surrey, in 2004, keeping a consistent roster of members for their full cycle. They released 8 studio albums over the next 20 years, before announcing they would embark on an extensive tour in 2025, and retire the band upon completing it. Their debut album ‘Take Off Your Colours’ produced big hits in the form of ‘Save It For The Bedroom’, and ‘Finders Keepers’, both of which had significant playtime on British radio and television features. Their profile then grew significantly following second album ‘Hold Me Down’, with major single ‘Liquid Confidence’ winning Best Single at the 2010 Kerrang Awards, and third album ‘Sinners Never Sleep’ scoring a third place on the UK album charts.

However, following the release of eighth album ‘Truth Decay’ and live album ‘Live At Alexandra Palace’ in 2023, the group agreed at the beginning of 2024 to walk away from You Me At Six. At the time, Franceschi said “We feel like on the eve of our 20th anniversary as a band, now is a good time to call time”. What came next was the ‘Final Nights Of Six’ tour, which ran for 81 appearances over 7 months, across Europe, the US and Australia. The tour wrapped with two nights at the OVO Wembley Arena in London, with the final ‘Night Of Six’ falling on April 4th 2025.

Since the band called it a day last year, all of the former members of You Me At Six have been quite quiet, at least as far as musical output is concerned. Josh Franceschi posted something to his X (formerly Twitter) account last June about being in the studio recording music at the time, but his recent posts have had a different feeling to them.

In a similar Instagram update, a follower in the comments asked whether he was hinting at new music, and Franceschi casually replied “Duh x”. With You Me At Six fading in the rear view mirror, and having married his now-wife last year, it appears he is now firmly setting his sights forward with his X post, saying simply “2026, let’s cook”, the first time he has suggested a timeline for any new music.

This has led to rampant speculation about what he could be planning, with some wishful thinkers praying for You Me At Six to return after only a year out of action, others considering a solo singer-songwriter career, and the option is open for him to pursue something completely different altogether. Of course, this is merely conjecture at this stage, but it’s hard not to feel a little bit excited.

With this they revealed the dates of their final world tour which commenced on 9 October that year. Best known for hits such as their highest charting track ‘Lived a lie’ in 2013, the band rose to fame in the emo resurgence of the 2010s alongside notable bands in the scene Bring Me The Horizon and All Time Low. At show number 81 in Brixton, fellow Scottish rock, metal band Biffy Clyro’s frontman Simon Neil joined them for the performance of ‘No One Does It Better’. Fans shared recordings of the performance on YouTube.

Due to popular demand, the emo band who defined the genre in the late 2000s, ‘You Me At Six’, have decided to release further dates for their UK and Ireland tour which kicks off in 2025. They will be playing for more dedicated fans in Dublin, Cardiff, Nottingham, Glasgow, Leeds, Birmingham and London at most of the same venues apart from adding a date for the O2 Academy Brixton before their final night on tour at Wembley Arena.

In February, the band announced that they would split after 20 years together and left fans devastated but understanding as there are very few bands that last 20 years and if they do, line-ups and members are subject to a revolving door of change and movement from members. Something about You Me At Six which makes them special is that they seem to be an anomaly or have at least avoided the curse of becoming a band once iconic but who have become almost unrecognisable due to the substitution of members. The band themselves are delighted with this fact with lead singer Josh Franceschi was quotes in an article by the BBC that he thinks ‘that’s the thing that we’re all fundamentally the most proud of’.

According the BBC, lead singer Josh Franceschi intends the tour to offer a chance for fans to ‘celebrate… rather than [us] slipping out the back door’. The tour will consist of songs from all eight of their albums however as of right now, the band are unsure what they will play or even how to fit 20 years of award winning music into just 2 hours.

You can take a look at the new dates for the ‘Final Days of Six’ tour below.

The band also announced the exciting news in an Instagram post which fans were quick to respond on however it’s not the excitable array of comments you would expect with many hopeful fans feeling cheated by the ticket sites that You Me At Six are using to sell their tickets. Some fans have been commenting expressing their grievances with one user stating ‘this isn’t the announcement we want, we just want ticket sites that don’t crash and links that work’. Many fans have taken to the band’s Instagram page to express disbelief that tickets for the first wave of shows all seemed to sell out at 9am – the exact same time of their release. Still, this hasn’t dampened fan’s anticipation to see the group one final time before the disband for what looks like forever.

TikTok sensation Gabriels and ethereal popstar AURORA have been announced as the latest addition to BRITs Week’s stellar 2024 line-up. The annual series of intimate fundraiser gigs takes place in the weeks leading up to the BRIT Awards in venues up and down the UK. Since BRITs Week’s inception in 2009, the shows have raised more than £7m for War Child, supporting vulnerable children and young people around the globe whose lives have been torn apart by war.

The British-American three-piece Gabriels will be performing a late night show at Ronnie Scott’s in Soho, and have also teased that a ‘very special guest‘ will be accompanying them. The group were thrilled to be nominated for BBC Radio 1’s Sound of 2023, and are more recently excited by their nomination for Best International Group of The Year at The BRITs for the second year in a row:

Celestial singer-songwriter AURORA will also be taking to the stage following the release of her latest single ‘The Conflict Of The Mind.’ Born in Norway, the omnipresent vocalist has built a huge UK following, and will be performing in collaboration with the charity on February 26 at Lafayette in London.

Unveiling the two musicians as the final additions, War Child said: “These incredible acts are joining us to raise money for children affected by conflict and help give them what they deserve: hope for a better future.”

Taking place between February 19 and March 4 ahead of The BRIT Awards 2024 with Mastercard, BRITs Week will offer exclusive live performances from a diverse range of acts from different genres, including Cian Ducrot, You Me At Six, Keane, Ash, Baby Queen, Aitch, Pendulum, Sleaford Mods, CMAT, Venbee and The Last Dinner Party.

Performances may be more poignant than usual, particularly for fans of You Me At Six who have revealed this will be their last year together as a band. Emotions may also be running high for The Last Dinner Party who are still reeling from their BRIT Rising Star win.

Clare Sanders Wright, Senior Music Manager at War Child said in a statement: “I am so excited to announce the lineup for BRITs Week 2024 and thankful to all of the brilliant artists donating their time to raise vital funds in aid of War Child. The past year is one that we will never, ever forget. Children have paid with their homes and their lives for wars they didn’t start. And then, there are the children who don’t make the headlines – children who might be completely forgotten.”

“But there is hope. War Child help children put the pieces back together. The money raised from BRITs Week 2024 will help War Child keep children safe. Whether it’s mental health first aid, food, or shelter, War Child work in the hardest-to-reach places to ensure that children and their families have hope for a brighter future. We are so grateful to the artists and our partners for supporting BRITs Week 24. Thank you.” she added.

Support acts for this year’s bill have also been announced with Keane supported by Oscar Lang, The Last Dinner Party supported by Rachel Chinouriri, Ash supported by Big Image, Aitch supported by AWxJ1, You Me At Six supported by The XCERTS, CMAT supported by Lorraine Bowen and Baby Queen supported by Lynks. UK radio stations up and down the country will also be promoting and celebrating the week, showcasing the wide range of talent on display.

Ben Cooper, Chief Content & Music Officer for Bauer Media Audio UK commented: “It’s a privilege to be partnering with War Child and for Bauer Audio brands to be hosting this year’s incredible line up of BRITs Week gigs. The ability to showcase such a diverse range of artists highlights the strengths of all of our stations with incredible acts for every single listener to tune in to – whether that’s on KISS or Kerrang!

British rock band You Me At Six recently shocked fans with the news of their disbandment. The quintet took to social media on Wednesday January 31st to drop the bomb that they will be hitting the road one last time with a world tour scheduled for later this year. The tour will roll over into 2025, which poetically coincides with the band’s 20th anniversary. Front man Josh Franceschi stated in a press release that the milestone of 2 decades “has always been [their] finish line”.

After releasing a suitably emo video statement filmed in a graveyard, You Me At Six announced that the time has come for them to bid farewell to the band. However, after keeping this a secret for some time, Franceschi told BBC “I’m grateful that we’re in a position where we can celebrate, in real time, with our fans.”

Throughout their career, the “Stay With Me” singers have released 8 studio albums, 2 of which (2014’s Cavalier Youth and 2021’s SUCKAPUNCH) reaching number 1 status, toured extensively and received glowing recognition through a variety of awards. These accomplishments have not gone amiss with the band members, as frontman Franceschi told NME “The thing that mattered the most is longevity, getting closer and closer to that 20 year mark. We don’t need this band for self-indulgent reasons. We’re all really satisfied with what we’ve done, let’s just tie a nice little ribbon or bow around it. You don’t want to be the last ones hanging around at the party. We want to be a band that bowed out, not one that was kicked out.”

When asked about plans for their upcoming farewell tour, the 33-year-old stated “We’ve worked out that our final gig is going to be 20 years to the day since our first ever band practice, which is wild. It wasn’t even deliberate.” However, fans will have to be patient for any more information regarding the tour, as dates are set to be announce in “a couple of months”.

Whilst dates for You Me At Six’s final tour are still unknown, you can ensure you receive information regarding the upcoming shows by signing up here. However, the Surrey based five-piece have some upcoming performances this month, as well as their appearance’s at this year’s Slam Dunk Festival to serve as their penultimate shows.

British rock band Mallory Knox has officially announced their reunion, signalling the end of a five-year hiatus that followed their unexpected split in 2019. Formed in 2009, the group is set to make a triumphant comeback at Slam Dunk Festival 2024, featuring the return of original singer Mikey Chapman.

The announcement was made through Slam Dunk Festival’s official Instagram account, where they declared, “Slam Dunk is pleased to bring you a Christmas miracle! We’re excited to announce that @malloryknoxband will be reuniting for exclusive shows at Slam Dunk Festival 2024… With the return of original singer Mikey Chapman! Happy holidays” The reunited band will feature all the original members: Mikey Chapman, Sam Douglas, James Gillett, Joe Savins, and Dave Rawling.

Mallory Knox subsequently posted a Christmas-themed message on their Instagram, announcing the reunion and the festival appearance, captioned “MALLORY KNOX 2024. See you at @slamdunkmusic. Merry Christmas x”.

The band is set to join an impressive lineup of rock and pop-punk powerhouses at Slam Dunk 2024, featuring iconic acts like You Me At Six, The All American Rejects, Boys Like Girls, Funeral for a Friend, and State Champs. Fans can catch them all at Hatfield Park and Leeds Temple Newsam over the late May bank holiday weekend.

Known for hits like ‘Beggars’ and ‘Shout at the Moon,’ Mallory Knox left an indelible mark at Slam Dunk after their performance in 2012. The prospect of their return, following a substantial 12-year hiatus, has sparked immense excitement among fans.

The announcement of the reunion marks a surprising turn of events after the band’s official disbandment in 2019 following a somewhat scattered farewell tour. In a recently deleted post on Facebook, Mallory Knox’s statement read, “After 10 years, 4 albums and countless tours it’s time to announce that Mallory Knox has come to the end of the road. Unfortunately we’ve reached the point where we feel we’ve taken Mallory as far as we can both professionally and personally.”

Lead vocalist Mikey Chapman left the band in 2018, forming the band Sky Research, prompting lead bassist Sam Douglas to step into the role. Sam encountered health issues towards the tour’s end, leading to the cancellation of some final dates. Despite these challenges, the band bid farewell with a final show in October 2019. Now, their return to the Slam Dunk Festival in 2024 promises to be nostalgic for both Mallory Knox and their devoted fanbase.

Slam Dunk 2024 is scheduled for the dates below with tickets are available for purchase here.

25/05/2024 – Hatfield Park – Hatfield

Slam Dunk has given You Me At Six so much over our career & we’ve got a lot of special memories from performing there over the years. The line-up is stacked with great artists, so will be an elite one.”

Fans of You Me At Six, who released their eighth studio album earlier this year titled Truth Decay, shared their excitement over the news on X. One person said: “Already my favorite slam dunk”, whilst another person commented: “favorite band headlining my favorite festival.” The group first performed at the festival in 2007 alongside Paramore, Reel Big Fish and Mad Caddies.

Since 2006, the Slam Dunk Festival has celebrated rock and punk artists from all over the world. This year, the festival treated the audience to performances by legendary punk group The Offspring, British band Enter Shikari and Billy Talent. However, the festival received criticism over issues of health and safety concerns – including overflowing toilets.

In a report, Slam Dunk Festival organizers said: “Thank you for giving us the time to fully investigate the events of the Slam Dunk Festival 2023. We have taken that time to work with our internal team and many external partners, firstly to work out why things went wrong and then find solutions and improvements for next year. Please let us be clear that we are not trying to pass the blame of anything to other people, we are simply telling the truth about what caused those issues, so you can be assured we have identified the problem and therefore are able to fix it.”

“We would like to stress that we take full accountability for everything that happened on the day, and we are so sorry that some people didn’t have the experience that they should have. We hope you give us the chance to change that.”

Organizers of the event have promised a change for next year’s show, including 25% extra toilets and additional taps at all waterpoints.

Surrey based eclectic rock band You Me At Six have announced their 2008 debut album, Take Off Your Colours is set for a special re-issue. The album, which celebrates its 15 year milestone, will be re-released on vinyl and is scheduled to drop tomorrow, Friday the 6th of October.

We wanted to do a proper release to vinyl of this album for years and now that we as a band finally own the rights to do so, we are releasing a limited vinyl pressing with some new merch! pic.twitter.com/nnV19hllHp

The pop-punk masterpiece, as some would refer to it, made the band a household name upon its release and shot the band to stardom, as well as earned You Me At Six critical praise and commercial success. Now, the band have expressed their delight in being able to please their fans after years spent clamouring for a re-release of the album. The band have recently acquired the rights back to their debut record and are excited to give Take Off Your Colours the celebration they feel it deserves.

Frontman Josh Franceschi said of the re-issue, “we’re very excited to celebrate the 15th anniversary of our debut album with this very special limited edition vinyl. We finally own the rights to this album again, which is an amazing feeling for us, and so we’re finally able to answer the calls from fans to re-issue the album on vinyl and release it directly to them. It won’t be available in shops. This is such a special album for us and we know it’s special to so many fans too”.

Franceschi and guitarist Max Helyer, during an interview with Kerrang Magazine nostalgically looked back to the time of writing and recording the album and reminisced that they were attempting to accomplish what very few UK based artists were doing in those days. Franceschi said, “There were no UK bands doing what the US scene had going on. [Labels] like Fueled By Ramen, the Warped Tour, Drive-Thru Records. There wasn’t really a UK band flying that flag at that particular moment in time. All our mates were playing in hardcore bands and we like hardcore music, but we also liked songs with melodies and with a pop sensibility to it. We were like, ‘If we do that, maybe we’ll stand out more.'”

Helyer added, “When you’re 15, up to 18, you’re kind of adapting and learning your craft. There was no pressure. It was like, ‘Let’s make music for fun and stuff we get kicks out of.’ Realistically, we didn’t expect the response to some of the songs that we wrote at that time. Save It For The Bedroom was the song that shot us out into a bigger audience.”
Perhaps the only criticism that festival-goers could direct at the event is that, inevitably, the party had to come to an end but the highlights will live long in the memory for those lucky enough to have attended.

And the first day could be best summed up by Sam Fender’s everyman, emotional performance as Friday night’s headliner. Fender, playing the role of humble musician perfectly, perhaps best reflects the thousands of spectators gathered at Reading and Leeds-appealing to the crowd that he is merely one of them and would happily play the role of underdog.
Saturday picked up right where the festival left off the night before with, arguably, a sneak peek of what may be to come, after Sleep Token added yet another huge notch to their gig belt with an atmospheric performance on the Festival Republic Stage. The band just seem to be gaining in status with each month that goes by and there is no telling where the band can aspire to.

But the Main Stage West was treated to something special indeed when the disappointment of Lewis Capaldi was assuaged by the nostalgia inducing set of his replacement, The 1975. The band opted to perform their 2013 eponymous record in full, transporting the audience back 10 years when the band had the world beckoning. The 1975 proved that even a decade removed, the self-titled album still resonates, with even the newly initiated finding something to nod their heads along to.

Of course, not to be outdone, The Killers delivered a set to remember, even at one point featuring a young teen playing drums on “For Reasons Unknown.” The band have long been indie rock’s crown jewel and the band proved their credentials with a headlining set that all but cements them as one of the greatest of their generation.

The final day for the festival promised to be one of the most defining of the weekend and with Imagine Dragons headlining Main Stage West, it certainly got off to the right start. Delivering pure, feel good vibes, the band set the excitement up perfectly for Sunday night’s headliner.
It is simply stunning that Billie Eilish is the youngest performer ever to headline the Main Stage at only 21 years old, but the singer graced the stage like the conquering hero she is. Featuring her hit song from the Barbie soundtrack, “What Was I Made For?” Eilish’s proven success was laid bare for all to see, as her staggering 20 song setlist delivered exactly what festival-goers were craving, marking a thrilling and satisfying end to one of the UK’s most beloved festival experiences.
