The gig will be a good warm-up for the band, who will be following it up with an appearance at Neighbourhood Weekender 2022 the very next day.

Last year the group shared their 2019 performance at Heaton Park on their YouTube channel. The event had them performing to 50,000 people in Manchester, being supported by Mancunian rock band James, Australian three-piece DMA’s and indie rock group Pale Waves (who’ve recently announced the upcoming release of a new single).

NME said of the Heaton Park gig that “As [Courteeners] depart to mass euphoria and a flurry of Carlsberg bottles tossed in the air like mortarboards at a graduation, you feel Liam’s annus horribilis has been cathartically washed away.”

Among some of the more unusual news concerning the band, last year saw Fray announce his new restaurant – The Smithfield Social. You can find out more on the website here. If you fancy an assortment of cocktails, brunch and small plates, Fray’s your guy.

The band, which formed back in 2006, consists of Fray on vocals/guitar, Daniel Moores on guitar and Michael Campbell on drums. They haven’t had much in the way of new music lately, with their most recent studio album being 2020’s More. Again. Forever. – their sixth studio album.

The album got its own fair share of positive reviews, with NME awarding it four stars and saying “‘More. Again. Forever’ strikes a mature balance. It’s escapist in its sound but humane in its approach to the world. It’s experimental but familiar, and tests what the band are capable of while proving to be their most focussed work to date.” The album reached number 2 on the UK Albums Chart and number 1 in Scotland.

Despite the lack of new music, you’ve got all their live dates to make the most of before the band pop out another single or album, so you might as well get ticket hunting while you still can.

Derbyshire Y Not Festival added some exciting new acts to its line-up for the 2022 edition. The festival has been cancelled two years in a row due to Covid-19 and it’s coming back with a bang next summer.

In September they announced the first wave of music acts with Courteeners, Blossoms, Nothing But Thieves among others. “WE ARE BUZZING TO ANNOUNCE OUR FIRST WAVE OF ACTS FOR Y NOT FESTIVAL 2022! SO EXCITED TO WELCOME BOTH COURTEENERS AND BLOSSOMS AS OUR HEADLINERS, PLUS A RETURNING HEADLINER TO BE REVEALED SOON..” they shared at the time.

Yesterday, the festival organisers topped up the list with legends, Stereophonics and Welsh rockers Manic Street Preachers. The Vaccines and Nothing But Thieves are also added to the slot. “The new editions don’t stop there… Easy Life, Sea Girls, The Snuts, Dinosaur Pile Up, The Big Moon, Black Honey, Orla Gartland, The Reytons, The Futureheads, Dream Wife, Yard Act, Billie Marten & Baby Queen are all along for the long awaited 15th edition of Y Not!” tease organisers.

The 15th edition of the festival will take place between 29-31 July in Pikehall and it looks incredible already. Stereophonics will make a comeback after their headline set in 2017. The band’s founding member Richard Jones said: “We can’t wait to finally play Y Not again next summer – if the last time we performed there is anything to go by, next year’s festival will be great“.

“Back in 2017 the rain couldn’t dampen the spirits of the crowd who were up for a good time – I remember watching Slaves and Jake Bugg who were both on form. After a tough couple of years for everyone, it will be a very memorable weekend. See you there!”

Four-time Brit award winner Manic Street Preachers will also join the 2022 stage sharing the biggest hits and some tracks from their recent No 1 album The Ultra Vivid Lament.

Justin Young from The Vaccines, who also played at the festival in 2017 said: “In 2017, we sat backstage in torrential rain desperately hoping that we’d be allowed to play for everyone at Y Not”.

“The gods decided it wasn’t to be, and we left the festival as miserable as the weather. So we couldn’t be happier that after a 5 year wait, we’re finally getting the chance to right that wrong and bring the thunder ourselves…”

Larkins, the fast-rising Manchester guitar-pop quartet, have announced a headline show, in London, which will see them play, at the Hoxton Bar & Kitchen, on the 10th of April 2019. The announcement comes after the four-piece were revealed to be playing at a number of festivals, this year. Tickets for the London headline show will be available via Ticketmaster, with a pre-sale going live yesterday, on Wednesday the 6th of March. However, general sale tickets will be available, on Friday the 8th of March.

The announcement comes on the back of the groups recent four-date headline tour, which concluded with a sold out, hometown show, to 2000 fans, at the Albert Hall, in Manchester. Speaking about their most recent tour, and their anticipation for their London headline show, Larkins frontman, Josh Noble, said: “This recent tour blew our minds. The way people sang and danced with us took the shows to a whole new level. It concluded in our biggest headline show at the Albert Hall in Manchester.

“We’re attempting to create a show that is a new experience for both the band and the audience and we’re confident we will continue to make fresh and exciting music over the next 12 months. Heading to London to show what we’ve got is always an exiting prospect. It’s been a while since we’ve played there and we feel like a whole new band since then, we can’t wait.”

Larkins have also been announced to play a number of festivals, this year including SXSW, from Monday the 11th of March to Sunday the 17th of March 2019, Y Not? Festival, from Thursday the 25th of July to Sunday the 28th of July 2019, Live At Leeds, on Saturday the 4th of May 2019, and Neighbourhood Festival, on Saturday the 25th of May 2019. The band are on a meteoric rise as one of the most exciting and in-demand new bands to emerge, from Manchester, in recent times. They are currently working on their debut album and have even more exciting announcements to follow shortly. Tickets can be purchased here.

The announcement comes after, Larkins, recently released their latest single, ‘TV Dream’, through Good Soldier Records. The song has been described as featuring “bright synths, 80s-inspired guitars and a huge chorus showcasing their knack for intelligent song-writing and delicious pop hooks reminiscent of the likes of CHVRCHES, The 1975 and Pale Waves.”

Regarding the single, Noble, said: “‘TV Dream’ was inspired by my grandparents; the idea that romance and dancing has lost its appeal and vigour from what it used to be. Instead, when we turn on the TV we see these visions of gender inequality, and blaming sexism on the way people dress. I loved combining such a blissful story of romance with a more serious tone of being influenced by the modern media.”

Y Not Festival started life as a house party in 2005 and over the last 14 years has slowly grown to become one of the most loved events in the musical calendar. Previous headliners include The Libertines (2018) The Stereophonics (2017) and Madness in 2016. Despite previous years of weather troubles, which caused the festival to finish a day early in 2017, fans seem to be ecstatic about this years headliners.

NME reports that Stereophonics, Two Door Cinema Club and The Vaccines have been confirmed to headline this summer’s Y Not Festival, as well as the line-up revealing a massive array of bands that will be joining them.

The reputation of the Derbyshire based festival has grown substantially over the last few summers, and this year sees further high profile acts confirmed to be playing, and joining the three headliners are the likes of Clean Bandit, Jake Bugg, Slaves, Maximo Park, Feeder, Nothing But Thieves, Example & DJ Wire, Twin Atlantic, Kate Nash, and Pulled Apart By Horses.

Festival director Simon Mawbey has said that he is “immensely proud of this year’s line up,” adding “We’ve worked really hard to secure the very best acts – bands and artists we personally love.”

Headliners Stereophonics are expected to play new songs, alongside the classics of their catalogue. The band themselves recently reported that their tenth album was finished. The Vaccines have also been hard at work on a new album, citing a “more energetic” sound to their project. Frontman Justin Young spoke about the album, suggesting that “It sort of builds on the musicality of English Graffiti, but I think there’s a lot more of spirit and energy from What Did You Expect…“Young elaborated on this, saying “We’re in the studio every day playing together, so it feels a lot more like a band again, which maybe English Graffiti stopped slightly. I guess it replenishes some of that spirit and that energy of the first record.”

Y Not Festival will take place from 27-30 July, at Pikehall, in the Peak District, in Derbyshire. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased here.

The Cribs frontman, Ryan Jarman, made a plea to fans through the band’s Facebook page yesterday evening (July 23).

Formally from Wakefield, Jarman now resides in New York City working on his latest project, Exclamation Pony. His missing Sunburst Gibson 335 has been part of multiple tours for The Cribs and has “A lot of sentimental value”. The guitar was stolen in Brooklyn, New York by Jarman’s former roommate and has already been sold on.

The band posted a further image yesterday evening displaying the black Gibson hardcase the guitar was last seen in, with “The Cribs” sprayed onto the rear of the case in red. A reward will be issued for any information leading to the return of the guitar along with their “eternal gratitude”.

The band of brothers are set to take some time out following their string of shows in the UK this august. The Cribs released Payola on March 11 this year, a best of collection from the band’s 5 album catalogue. You can catch The Cribs this August across the UK and at Y Not Festival, where the band are set to headline the Saturday night (August 3).

The full post from the band:

“Ryan’s sunburst Gibson 335, a guitar he has toured with extensively for the last few years, has been stolen in New York by his former roommate. It was stolen in the Williamsburg, Brooklyn area and has already been sold, however it’s whereabouts are unknown. Please please could you keep an eye out for it, it could be in any pawn shop/music store in the area and may be in a very distinctive Gibson hardcase with ‘The Cribs’ sprayed on it in red. The serial number is: 81051048. It has a black pickguard that had some stickers on it as seen on the pic, however these may have been removed. Any person giving ANY information leading to it’s return would receive our eternal gratitude and some other kind of reward as the guitar has a lot of sentimental value and we are gutted that it has been stolen. Please help!”
