The 39-year-old will be putting on two unforgettable shows in July 2024 in Cardiff and Manchester respectively. Lavigne, famous for her 2002 hit “Sk8er Boi”, is bringing along fellow Canadians, Rock band Simple Plan, as special guests for both shows.

Before the shows with Avril Lavigne, Simple Plan will be in the UK for their Hard As Rock tour with New York band State Champs and Florida based band Mayday Parade, which kicks off at the O2 Victoria Warehouse in Manchester on February 9, and wraps up at London’s Eventim Apollo on February 16, 2024. Throughout this tour, the equivalent of $1 (equivalent to 79p) from each ticket sold will be donated to the Simple Plan Foundation, whose aim is to help young people in need, by easing their difficult passage to adulthood and by supporting the victims of life threatening illnesses.

Lavigne released her seventh studio album Love Sux on February 25, 2022. The album charted at number three in the UK and included the singles “Bite Me”, “Love It When You Hate Me” and “I’m A Mess”. The “Girlfriend” singer will be hitting the road in Europe this summer, alongside her UK shows, to promote the album, produced by Blink-182’s Travis Barker.

In other Avril Lavigne news, last month the pop-punk icon made a surprise appearance at When We Were Young festival in Las Vegas. While onstage, she first joined American Rock band All Time Low for “Fake As Hell”, her new collaborative track with the band, before pleasing the crowd with a performance of her classic hit “Sk8er Boi”.

Pop-punk-emo legends My Chemical Romance, have finally released their first new single since 2014’s spiritual wave goodbye, ‘Fake Your Death’. The 6-minute monster takes everything you’d anticipate from a traditional MCR tune – unifying shouts from Gerard Way, rowdy guitars, a little teenage angst etc. – but the track also has taken its time to seemingly develop and mature into something one could almost call prog? You can listen to ‘The Foundations of Decay’ below.

It’s been almost 10 years since My Chemical Romance played their final show before announcing their indefinite hiatus. If 2007 was the year that cemented the world’s unanimous emo phase, then 2013 – unfortunately – must be the year that ended it. MCR had gone, Paramore had already begun to move into a more Art-Pop style, and even Panic! At the Disco had started to become more reminiscent of The Killers than anything else. It was time to drop the dark and brooding eyeliner and black nails, and make way for pop-punk! It’s 2013, Fall Out Boy are back! So now, put on your eyeliner and black nails, but this time… enjoy yourself a little! But, I think, in today’s day and age, in today’s climate… no one wants to listen to All Time Low. People want to feel a little more unified in the fact that things may not exactly be going to plan. Thus, the emo renaissance. Highlighted perfectly in the lineup for the now famous When We Were Young Festival lineup.

We were never really clear as to whether or not MCR would be releasing any new music. But a little snippet of instrumental material over the band’s reunion teaser back at the start on 2020 gave us all a little hope for something on the horizon. Way revealed in an interview last year that he was working on something new, but for a solo project? New MCR? We didn’t know. “What’s been working lately is sitting with [engineer] Doug [McKean], working on the music, and then I’ll just go over to my office — which used to be Marion Peck’s painting studio, and I love that room — and I will sit while Doug mixes, tweaks, edits, programs more drums . . . I’ll literally sit there and I will write as close as possible to what I think are gonna be either the final lyrics, or at least what I’m comfortable singing at that moment.”

MCR’s tour will be beginning imminently, at this point the UK has managed to accumulate 9 dates for our leg of the tour. Admittedly, they’re all a little obtuse… but that could be considered a good thing. Check out here for more details. See the full list of tour dates below.

With streaming solidly confirming itself as the premier means of distributing and consuming music after taking up 83% of listening stats in 2020, the pace at which music is evolving has reached record highs. The ’10s and ’20s have had so much innovative new music that it’s hard to even recognise its impact on society. But… while this acceleration of new sounds is by no means a bad thing, sometimes it’s good to sit back and reminisce. That is just what When We Were Young, a new pop-punk focused festival in Las Vegas made to rival warped tour, is all about. With headline slots from My Chemical Romance and Paramore, the emo renaissance is upon us.

Register now for Presale that starts Friday, January 21st, 10 AM PT. All tickets start at $19.99 down https://t.co/KUp7CwEQEV pic.twitter.com/mG5jQPsBm8

Set to hit the sands of Las Vegas’ Nevada desert on October 22nd, the festival boasts an impressive level of pop-punk throwbacks I wasn’t even aware were still together. Boys Like Girls, Sleeping with Sirens, Pierce the Veil and 3OH!3 stick out as artists just waiting for their time back in the sun. While Bring Me the Horizon fit into the line-up like they were born for it, all while maintaining a level of relevance that not many other artists on the roster have. The group have moulded their sound over the years to keep up with the ever-changing musical climate without just collapsing into obscurity, their most recent output “DiE4u” sums up just how malleable the group can be if needed. This appearance, alongside their Reading and Leeds Festival headlining slots, confirms the staying power of the band.

Not long after the announcement that Wolf Alice will be postponing their UK and EU tour, the group have also announced their involvement in WWWY Festival. With the festival taking place in October, I feel like most touring artists are going into the festival season with a whole lot of hope. My Chemical Romance, for instance, has only played one show since their split in 2012; and their reunion tour dates in the UK have already been rearranged 3 times. These shows are currently set to go ahead this May with an appearance at the Eden Project on May 16th, 3 nights at Milton Keynes’ Stadium MK on the 19th, 21st and 22nd, and a few other days around the UK in the following weeks. See here for more details.

2007 is back! So if you want to convince your parents that it really wasn’t a phase you can find ticket information here.
