Premiered on BBC 6 Music with Huw Stephens, the frantic new single is now available on all streaming platforms. Speaking on the track, the band shared in a new press release: “This song was the first original thing we ever played as a band, before we had any real ambition for the project to reach the ears of anyone outside of that room. It is a punk song about a cowboy, and if anyone can take away any more from it than that, consider us impressed.”

The band have also officially announced their debut EP ‘This Better Be Something Great’, set for release on August 8 via Nice Swan Recordings and Heist or Hit. The EP was produced by Lewis Whiting, the guitarist of Mercury Prize winners English Teacher.

Formed in 2023, Westside Cowboy began with informal Jam sessions in bandmember Paddy Murphy’s bedroom. The band quickly evolved from their first gig in a local coffee shop to achieving national recognition. Their raw energy and idiosyncratic sound have already earned them high-profile support slots and they have quickly distinguished themselves within the UK music scene, opening for the Mercury prize showcase and winning the Glastonbury Talent Competition.

The four-piece comprising of Reuben Haycocks, James Bradbury, Aoide Anson O’Connell, and Paddy Murphy describe their genre-blending style as “Britainicana.” The result is a mix of lo-fi alternative rock, country tones, and classic rock and roll influences. Their sound is defined by lo-fi reverb, melodic precision, and the quirky integration of recorders and cassette-tape aesthetics, creating something both nostalgic and sharply modern.
