Alexisonfire And Billy Talent Reveal Massive Wembley Arena Gig

Two of Canada’s most beloved rock bands have today teamed up to announce a huge 20th anniversary party for both of their breakthrough records. Alexisonfire’s ‘Crisis’ and Billy Talent’s ‘Billy Talent II’ both released in 2006, rocketing the two acts to international recognition.

Both bands announced the concert today on social media, along with another one in Montreal, Canada. The UK night is going to be held at at the OVO Wembley Arena in London on the 24th of June, with Alexisonfire playing ‘Crisis’ and Billy Talent playing ‘II’ in full, to what will certainly be a maximum capacity crowd of 12,500.

Both bands were founded in the Ontario province in Canada, with Billy Talent being the older group, having formed in 1991 under the name Pezz. Though they released three self-titled albums after renaming, ‘Billy Talent II’ was their best remembered and received the best scores from review sites. Packed full of angst, it walked the line between anthemic rock and rebellious punk, not quite pigeonholing itself into either. Singles like ‘Fallen Leaves’, ‘Red Flag’ and ‘Devil In A Midnight Mass’ were a hit with rock radio stations, and the band earned themselves a Juno Award for best rock album, one of Canada’s most prestigious prizes.

Alexisonfire formed later in 2001, but following on from strong second album ‘Watch Out!’ in 2004 led them to a defining album in the rock and hardcore scene in ‘Crisis’. Sometimes described as “pop screamo”, their sound was a mixture of hardcore punk with George Pettit’s harsh vocals, and very raw emotional rock built around Dallas Green’s hauntingly beautiful singing. The singles ‘Boiled Frogs’ and ‘This Could Be Anywhere In The World’ are still hugely popular today, with the album being cited as inspiration to many of the Canadian scene’s later albums by artists like Cancer Bats and Silverstein.

Both albums reached number one in Canada’s Album Chart and became a large part of each band’s legacy. Fittingly, Liam Cormier of Cancer Bats was quoted in a now-deleted article as saying “everyone will always remember Alexisonfire and Billy Talent as the two bands that brought heavy music to the forefront and broke that scene wide open in this country.” Also rather appropriately, both bands released their last albums in 2022, and both are currently in the studio writing new music, with Alexisonfire only documenting their recording sessions earlier this week.

In a post on Instagram, Alexisonfire stated that the tour will feature both albums played front-to-back, with the headliner alternating – they will headline London while Billy Talent will play last in Montreal. US post-hardcore stars Touché Amoré will be opening the evening at the Wembley Arena. Pre-sale starts tomorrow at 10AM, general sale follows this Friday also at 10AM, with both Alexisonfire and Billy Talent providing ticket links and passwords on their Instagram posts. Alexisonfire will also be performing ‘Crisis’ in full when they headline the Saturday at this year’s Outbreak Fest, which runs from the 26th to the 28th of June at Manchester’s B.E.C Arena.

Fan Falls To His Death At Oasis Concert

An Oasis fan in his forties fell to his death on the night on August 2 at one of the band’s Wembley Stadium shows. The Met Police and medics responded to reports of an injured person around 10:30pm. The man was said to have sustained injuries after falling from the upper tier of the stadium and was promptly announced dead at the scene.

Oasis released a statement, sharing: “We are shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of a fan at the show last night. Oasis would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved.”

Liam and Noel Gallagher began their Oasis Live ’25 reunion tour last month in Cardiff, Wales. Last night’s performance was the fourth of a five-date run at Wembley Stadium. A representative for the venue has confirmed to The Guardian that tonight’s (August 3) concert will go on as planned. Oasis are scheduled to play two more shows at Wembley this September

Police said to BBC that the stadium was busy and that they “believe it is likely a number of people witnessed the incident, or may knowingly or unknowingly have caught it on mobile phone video footage”. The Met has asked anyone who may have information to get in touch via 101. It added that the investigation would be passed to the Health and Safety Executive in the next few days.

Another source told The Telegraph that they thought what they saw was a coat falling, only to realise with horror that it was a person. “It was a big fall. God knows how it happened. It was so tragic. I don’t know how on Earth it happened. It was heart-breaking. He was only young.”

Oasis reunited this year for their Oasis Live ’25 tour after a 16-year split and feud. Wembley Stadium also shared a statement that medics, police and the London Ambulance service had attended to the injured man. “Despite their efforts, the fan very sadly died. Our thoughts go out to his family, who have been informed and are being supported by specially trained police officers,” it said.

The band is set to appear in Edinburgh on 8, 9 and 12 August and will then travel to Ireland, Canada, the US and Mexico before returning to Wembley on 27 and 28 September.

Kneecap Announce Their Biggest English Show To Date At Wembley Arena

Kneecap have officially announced details of a huge show at Wembley Arena in London – marking the trio’s largest English show yet.

The hip-hop group will perform at the 12,500 capacity venue on Thursday 18 September as they look to survive and even thrive after their recent controversy.

Speaking on their social media’s, the band said: “All London heads… Our biggest ever headline show outside of Ireland will take place on September 18th at the OVO Wembley Arena… The belly of the beast – let’s go!”

Kneecap have a busy remaining six months of 2025, despite the recent calls for them to be “cancelled”. Following on from the largest Irish language gig in Belfasts history last year, they look to continue this momentum by putting on huge shows in both Belfast and Finsbury Park, London this year, supporting Fontaines DC.

Despite many calls from the media and politicians to have their future festival appearances axed, the trio remain on the line-up for Glastonbury. TRNSMT have been the only main British festival to so far remove them. The Irish group responded to this in true Kneecap fashion. Instantly they announced a new gig at Glasgow’s 02 Academy, which sold out in less than 30 seconds.

The constant noise surrounding the politically-charged group stems from their Coachella performance earlier this year. On stage, they openly called for a “Free Palestine” and criticised the Israeli administration.

Due to England and America being open allies of Israel at the time, this led to controversy and calls for cancellation. Since then, videos resurfaced of the band saying at past live shows “Up Hamas! Up Hezbollah!” which are both deemed terrorist groups in the UK.

This led to member Mo Chara being investigated and charged with a “terror offence”. Releasing a statement in response to the charge, Kneecap said: “We deny this ‘offence’ and will vehemently defend ourselves. This is political policing. This is a carnival of distraction. We are not the story. Genocide is. As they profit from genocide, they use an ‘anti-terror law’ against us for displaying a flag thrown on stage.”

Having already headlined Wide Awake festival this summer, Kneecap now look forward to appearances at 2000Trees Festival in Cheltenham, a co-headline slot at PVRIS, and of course their performance on the Woodies stage at Glastonbury.

Mariah Carey Set To Headline Summertime Ball 2025

On June 15, some of the biggest names of the pop world are set to takeover London’s Wembley Stadium stage for the famous Summertime Ball festival. Busted vs McFly, Dasha, Jessie J and Benson Boone are amongst the artists that have been confirmed to be joining biggest name so far and pop icon: Mariah Carey. The singer is set to headline the festival with Barclaycard which will mark the hitmaker’s first UK concert in six years.

The festival is just one of many appearances from the American singer this summer with Carey set to headline the Brighton and Hove Pride on August 2nd as well as King Charles’ Royal Sandringham Estate in Norfolk on August 15th as part of the Heritage Live Series. As part of the Sandringham gig, the ‘We Belong Together’ singer will be joined by special guests including Nile Rodgers and CHIC and famous 90s band Eternal.

Enter Shikari have just completed a monumental UK arena tour, with the last show of their Great Britain leg taking place at the iconic Wembley Arena in London last night (February 17th). Whilst on stage in front of thousands of fans, lead singer Rou Reynolds took the opportunity to express his lament for the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict, as well as the band’s solidarity with Palestine.

The St Albans based band started their captivating speech by stating: “We cannot just enjoy this moment without acknowledging the fact that there are children being blown to pieces by a government and a country that has been completely lost in nationalistic and religious fervour.”

Continuing to express his support of Palestine, Reynolds said: “with the activists and actionists up and down the country who have been blocking and targeting the Israeli weapons manufacturing factories. Our country is very complicit in this atrocity, and supports those who are targeting the investment banks that are effectively bankrolling genocide. We have been yelling ‘Free Gaza’, ‘Free Palestine’ for 15 years. I just hope to God that there is still a Gaza and a Palestine left when this fucking nightmare ends. So let us be grateful for tonight, we have safety. We have community, we have love, we have human connection. Let us treasure this feeling that we all have tonight.”

The current death toll of Palestinians in Gaza stands at 28,775, with around 1,410 Israelis killed and around 100 Israeli hostages still remaining in Hamas captivity after the October 7 attacks. Israel is currently being urged by many Palestinian supporters not to send ground forces into Rafah on the Egyptian border, where many of the strip’s citizens are now living after areas closer to their homes became engulfed by fighting. Around 1.5million people are living in Rafah, among fears that there are few to no other places for Palestinians to seek refuge. The BBC reported “tens of thousands” gathered in London yesterday for pro-Palestine rallies.

This is not the first time the British rockers have spoken out about the horrors of war and their distaste for modern day worldwide conflicts. Their 2012 song Stalemate depicts this, with lyrics such as “Money is made when bombs are dropping in Afghanistan, and when phosphorous falls in Palestine.” The four-piece also signed an open letter for ceasefire in November of last year, alongside other artists such as Architects and The Last Dinner Party.

Sleep Token Issue Statement To Fans On False Claims Of Band Membership

British alternative metal band Sleep Token have taken issue with members of the public appearing to claim that they are in the band. The mystery surrounding who the actual members are has long captivated Sleep Token’s audience, with some going so far as to take false credit for being a part of the quartet.

Sleep Token have taken the world by storm over the course of the recent year, selling out shows, releasing their critically acclaimed album Take Me Back To Eden and being nominated and winning numerous awards. The band affirmed their status as one of music’s hottest properties by selling out a December headlining show at Wembley Arena in under 10 minutes. A remarkable feat indeed for a band that no one knows who the members are, with their anonymity arguably adding to their appeal.

With everyone remaining more or less clueless as to who comprises the masked individuals, it has, perhaps inevitably, led to some disreputable members of the public trying to convince the masses that they are, in fact, members of Sleep Token. And, unsurprisingly, this does not sit well with the band who have thus far painstakingly guarded their identities.

Not only have the band rigorously protected their secret, their legion of fans have also fiercely safeguarded the band’s anonymity, despite various internet sources claiming to have worked out who the members are. It is the fact that apparent scammers have been reaching out to the fanbase and posing as members of the band, that have moved Sleep Token to address the false information being spread throughout their community.

In a message to their supporters via Instagram, the band have stated, “followers, it has been brought to our attention that a number of unscrupulous individuals have been masquerading as members of the Sleep Token collective, in order to exploit members of our extended community. Let it be known any unsolciited contact from ANY person claiming to be a member of the collective should be disregarded, and their profile reported to the relevant administration. We thank you for your understanding.”

While it may come as little surprise to casual observers of the band that some people may look to capitalise on Sleep Token’s mysterious membership, other ‘anonymous’ bands have faced similar intrigue in the past. Slipknot members have long given up their rigid hold on their anonymity, although newer members are often nameless for large periods of time and Tobias Forge remains the only (certain) member outed in Ghost.

Remaining unknown is an important facet of what makes Sleep Token so fascinating and the actual members of the band undoubtedly plan to continue the mystery for as long as possible.

Greta Van Fleet Announce New World Tour To Support Their Starcatcher Release

We welcome the rock band Greta Van Fleet back onstage, who’ve just announced their upcoming world tour. This announcement comes as no surprise as it is the celebration of their soon to be released album Starcatcher. This is to be their third studio album release after their The Battle At Garden’s Gate release back in 2021. Expect to have it with us by the 21st July, 2023.

The band have not held back with this year’s tour. Starting on the 24th of July, just after they release Starcatcher, they will be performing at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. And they will make their way around various countries all the way through until December where they will be making their grand finale in Lisbon, Portugal, at the Campo Pequeño, performing alongside Black Honey.

It is a grand tour which will be seeing the best of American arena shows throughout July, August and September before finally crossing the pond in November. Europeans will be happy to know that they will be visiting more countries than originally imagines, such as Germany, the Netherlands, France, Belgium, the UK, Ireland, Denmark, Italy, Spain and, as mentioned before, Portugal. Most of these mentioned shows are to be held in arena stadiums. They do not go easy.

In just three years Van Fleet have gone from hopping through Detroit bars to selling out Arena tours quicker than a dog could lick a dish clean. Best known for their fans favourite “Safari Song”, “Highway Tune” and “Black Smoke Rising” from their debut album.

Within the creation of this ten track album, the musicians reflect and explore the duality of fantasy versus reality and the contrast between light and darkness. Hence the naming of the album Starcatcher. We had this idea that we wanted to tell these stories to build a universe,” says Wagner in a press release. “We wanted to introduce characters and motifs and these ideas that would come about here and there throughout our careers through this world.”

The album is a follow up from their last, of which they have taken concepts from to apply to their newly constructed project, in another formality. They have teased us with a previously released single of the lot “Meeting The Master”. Within music different questions lead to different answers. But their general concept stands the same. The band is very well known for their live performances and have never failed to sell out arena tours, such as the ones waiting ahead of them.

Culture Club’s Upcoming Concert at Wembley Arena Will Go Ahead With Limited Audience

Culture Club’s upcoming concert on 19 December at SSE Arena Wembley in London will go ahead as planned with limited live audience under strict social distancing rules. As the UK prepares to go out of its second lockdown next week, London will be placed in Tier 2 from 3 December which is set by the Local restrictions tiers guideline as “High Alert” meaning “higher or rapidly rising level of infections, where some additional restrictions need to be in place“. This means that unless the capital gets moved into Tier 3 prior to the show, the planned gig can go ahead as long as the following rule is followed: “public attendance at outdoor and indoor events (performances and shows) is permitted, limited to whichever is lower: 50% capacity, or either 2,000 people outdoors or 1,000 people indoors“.

As it is right now, there will be 1000 people allowed in, with all visitors spread in seats in the central part of the arena, socially distanced withint their own bubble. Doors should open at 7pm on Saturday 19 December, with tickets available to order here. Due to the strict restrictions and limited availability, the exclusive show will also be streamed globally online with separate tickets available to purchase here.

The SSE Arena Wembley have put visitor’s safety and enjoyment as absolute priority and have committed to strict following of all government restriction. Regardless of the specific regional variations of the tier, the standard rules of wearing facemasks and limiting the number of people in bubbles will still apply. Wembley Arena operates within the ASM Global network of international venues and are following its environmental hygene protocol VenueShield, “ensuring that facilities are clean and certified at the highest standards for the safety and health of our co-workers, clients and guests”. Boy George and Culture Club’s exclusive ‘Rainbow In The Dark: A Global Stream‘ show will be the first and only music event to take place at Wembley Arena following the second lockdown and until the end of the year. Earlier this year, the NME covered Culture Club’s frontman and pop icon Boy George appearance on Louis Theraux’ Grounded podcast for BBC Radio 4 where the singer confirmed he had enough material for 6-7 albums following a productive lockdown period. Boy George went on to say: “I’m not saying every single thing is good, but I signed a deal just before Christmas with a company called Primary Wave, whose job it is to go out and place your music in movies. I own copyright with them. It’s a new experience for me to own music.”

Most recently, Boy George shared a preview of his new song ‘Rainbow In The Dark‘ featuring Israeli singer and actor Asaf Goren. A solo release, the track curiously shares its name with the title of Culture Club’s exclusive Wembley show, and is suppose to come out soon in December as official single alongside music video.
