Charli XCX has taken centre stage recently, whether for her disparaging comments on the lack of female nominees for the Brits’ Artist of the Year category, or for her new collaborative remix with Caroline Polachek that’s taking TikTok by storm.

— Mark Savage (@mrdiscopop) February 12, 2023

Charli has now made waves with her decision to part with Atlantic Records, whom she signed a five album deal with at just 16 years old. The details of her new record deal have not yet been revealed, but Charli did tease fans with a glimpse of her “brand new recording contract” in her ‘In the Bag’ video for British Vogue.

Charli reveals that she has signed a two album deal, stating in the video “We’re in business!” Rumours subsequently began to circulate that she had signed with Dirty Hit, an independent label home to No Rome, Pale Waves and Charli’s boyfriend George Daniel’s band, The 1975.

Charli has previously worked with numerous artists signed with Dirty Hit, most recently teaming up with George Daniel to remix Caroline Polachek’s new single, ‘Welcome To My Island’, so it wasn’t surprising that fans thought she may have signed with Dirty Hit herself.

However, she quickly put these rumours to rest, replying to a fan on Twitter saying “i’m too expensive for them.”

Speaking to NME in October 2022, Charli revealed that she wasn’t sure about becoming an independent artist, saying, “I like not having to foot the bill for everything at the beginning, that’s quite scary. Especially when you want to do things on the kind of scale that I did on the last record. I’m still exploring, definitely.”

She concluded that, “there’s so many interesting options that would work for me.”

Charli’s latest album CRASH released in March 2022 debuted at No.1 on the UK Albums Chart, becoming her first album to top the chart. CRASH also became her highest charting album in the US to date, debuting at No.7 on the Billboard 200.

Following this success, Charli expressed her confusion surrounding the lack of recognition for female artists at the Brits, tweeting “i only came to speak the truth hunny.’

i only came to speak the truth hunny: https://t.co/vJj5hYrPYS — Charli (@charli_xcx) February 12, 2023

Despite her lack of nomination for Best Artist, Charli was later seen wearing a very on-brand tongue in cheek outfit, with a slogan t-shirt reading ‘REAL WINNER.’

Fans are eagerly awaiting news on Charli’s plans for 2023, with hints at further collaborations and even a potential book being on the horizon.

Harry Styles recently posed for Vogue magazine, gracing the front cover of the fashion giant news outlet in a stylish dress looking both dashing and stunning. However, some have not taken too kindly to seeing a man in a dress and have spoken out about the photoshoot. Styles’ mum has come to defend her son’s cover speaking on the UK TV show Lorraine.

You would have thought that being in 2020 the modern time, a time where we’ve excelled scientifically and shown just how advanced we are as a race when compared to us back in the early 20th century. What’s shocking to see is that we are still in a world where discrimination is very much here and has left people attacked and fearful of people who seem to want to hurt and offend for no logical reason. Some have decided that seeing the cover of Vogue affects them by saying things like “Bring back manly men!”, “The POINT of Styles doing this photo shoot is to feminize masculinity,”, and “It is an outright attack,”

Harry styles, known for being in One Direction, Movies, and singles like Watermelon Sugar and Adore you and just around a lovely person has made headlines again recently. He is now the first man to have his own solo cover on Vogue magazine, sporting a Gucci ballgown under a velvet jacket he has yet again shown how confident and empowered he is expressing his feminine side and looking amazing whilst doing so.

Unfortunately, some people seem to take this as an attack on their “values” Piers Morgan from the UK along with Candace Owens and Ben Shapiro from the US have been at the forefront of showing their uncomfortable feelings towards the pop stars cover. According to them, it’s “weird” and a deliberate move by “the Marxist left” to feminizing masculinity (cry me a river). On the opposite side at the front of it all is none other than mother Styles. Harry Styles’ mother has defended her son and doesn’t see any problem with the photoshoot.

Styles’ mum sees the photos as just playing dress-up, something that Syles has always loved saying “who doesn’t love playing dress-up?”. During the interview for Vogue, Harry had this to say “I’ll go in shops sometimes, and I just find myself looking at the women’s clothes thinking they’re amazing, It’s like anything—anytime you’re putting barriers up in your own life, you’re just limiting yourself. There’s so much joy to be had in playing with clothes.”

Online fashion shopping platform Lyst has actually put Styles at the top of their 2020 power dressers list pushing the great Beyonce to 2nd place. Despite people’s ill feelings towards other it’s important and obvious to note that it doesn’t matter who you are, who you identify as, your race, gender, pronouns, or sexuality always be proud and happy of who you are and be comfortable in what you wear as well as in yourself.
