Speaking about the track, Chi, said that ‘Under Your Skin’ “speaks of the realisation of a lost connection due to circumstance, London lifestyle, over-doing it, wanting to escape it all and take a journey somewhere.”

The singer/song-writer, who has been writing since 11 years of age, has proven that her talents aren’t determined by genre but by her distinct vocal timbre and stellar song-writing. EarMilk described ‘Under Your Skin’ as “an honest and introspective narrative matched emotionally by the experimental and synth heavy production work.” The track departs from her less electronic thinking productions and her team has, said that “While this may be an instrumental departure from previous releases, the genius is in her ability to retain a sound unmistakably hers no matter the genre.”

Chi released her self-titled debut single ‘Vivienne’ in May 2017, and while speaking about the single, Chi, said: “I wrote ‘Vivienne’ about getting through the aftermath of a break-up and that little voice in your head that persuades you to do something stupid. It’s about losing control and letting your other, less dignified self take over for a moment. It’s about the voice in your head that can often pull you down a road of destruction, especially in moments of vulnerability. It’s angry and honest, it’s about battling with pride and desperately missing a loved one.”

Chi hails from Bristol and was brought up in Spain, she cites an assortment of influences and artists as wide-spanning as Portishead, Massive Attack, Kate Bush, Prince, and D’Angelo as having shaped her own identity. She left Spain at 18 to pursue a career in music full-time in London, and has been entrenched in the city’s live music scene ever since.

“This has not been a 5 minute joy ride into music. Having to struggle helped me focus on what I truly wanted to say artistically,” Chi says, speaking about her journey through the music scene.
