The death metal heavyweights have confirmed they are working with producer Scott Atkins in Grindstone Studios responsible for mixing and engineering for the likes of Cradle of Filth, Sylosis, Savage Messiah, Benediction, and many more. Venom Prison announced their studio return in social media earlier today with few exclusive photos of Atkins and drummer Joe Bills alongside the caption: “The creation of album 3 begins.”

Led by the chilling vocals of Larissa Stupar, Venom Prison have been extremely productive since their formation and 2014, working thoroughly and metodically on gaining the reputation as one of the leading extreme metal bands in the UK scene, and continuously expanding their global fanbase. Following their two official albums Animus (2016) and Samsara (2019) the Welsh band returned once again this year with Primeval – a standalone release featuring fresh recordings of their first EPs Defy The Tyrant and The Primal Chaos from 2015 alongside the two huge brand new tracks ‘Defiant To The Will‘ and ‘Slayer of Holophernes‘.

The release immediately grabbed the attention of critics and fans and got a predominantly positive reception. Guardian described the record as “blistering death metal rooted in the horror of everyday violence and injustice” while Dead Press! stated that whatever the bands does next, “it’ll be exciting to see, but frighteningly, their best effort may still be yet to come“. In a similar fashion, joining the praise coming from all major media outlets, Louder commented on the new tracks in the release reaffirming “that while Venom Prison’s past is exhilarating, their future looks like it will be even more exciting.” With 2020 coming to its long-anticipated end, annual reviews and album chart are trending, with the likes Kerrang!’s 2020 Readers’ Poll still open for vote if you want to support Venom Prison for their admirable work.

Earlier in November Venom Prison were forced to reschedule their extensive headline tour with Texas death metallers Creeping Death and Manchester hardcore outfit Leeched to October 2021. The band is set to perform almost every single day throughout the month, starting on 5 October from Germany and covering most of Central Europe. The Welsh heavyweights are expected to end the tour with 10 days in the UK, visiting Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol, Glasgow, Manchester for three shows, Nothingham, London and finally Southampton on 26 October.

So far Venom Prison have no other dates or earlier Summer festival performances scheduled. Tickets for their UK and European dates are still available at the band’s official website.

Texas death metallers Creeping Death and Manchester hardcore outfit Leeched return as support for the full tour. All tickets already purchased will remain valid for the shows next year, with further information and more entries still available on Venom Prison’s official website. With all succesfully dates rescheduled, Venom Prison are now set to kickstart the tour in Germany next Autumn before moving on to Poland, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland. The Welsh heavyweighs will bring their relentless energy to the UK on 19 October with a show in Birmingham followed by exclusive gigs in Leeds, Bristol, Glasgow, Manchester, and Nottingham. The tour will end with concerts in the iconic London’s Underworld and Southampton’s Joiners on 25 and 26 October 2021. 

With the ongoing uncertainty of 2020 there is no guarantee that any shows will go as planned next year, but most bands are pushing their gigs for Autumn just to be safe. The 2021 concert season is already looking extremely promising so we can only wait and hope that the situation will slowly go back to normal and live gigs can resume as soon as possible. In a promising recent statement, LiveNation’s CEO Michel Rapino predicted concerts to return to full scale in Summer 2021 in time for the already busy festival period.

Last month, Venom Prison released Primevil through Prosthetic Records, feauturing few brand new songs and re-recordings of tracks from their earlier EPs Defy the Tyrant and Primal Chaos from 2015. After yet another critically acclaimed record, the band features on Distorted Sound Magazine who originally gave Primevil 8/10 and now join in praising Venom Prison for “when it comes to putting one’s individual stamp on the extreme music scene in such a short space of time, there are few bands that have managed to do this so successfully – and unapologetically in terms of artistic shit-kicking fury”

Formed in 2014, Venom Prison immediately rose to fame and are currently hailed as one of the most exciting death metal outfits not only in the UK but in the genre as a whole. Led by the chilling growls and uncompromising persona of the Russian-born Larissa Stupar, the band have already released two cricitally acclaimed studio albums – debut Animus from 2016 and the follow-up Samsara in 2019.

The Welsh iconclasts have already toured with leading genre tastemakers like Decapitated, Fit For An Autopsy, Toxic Holocaust and Dying Fetus. The initial reviews of Primevil have been predominantly positive with Sam Law of Kerrang! praising Venom Prison’s “unwavering commitment to the hard-edged extreme metal aesthetic, and their desire to push its dynamic boundaries as far as they’ll go“. Discussing the re-recording of their earlier EPs, Edwin McFee of Louder Sound (Metal Hammer) states how the “material has been sharpened up considerably after spending the guts of half a decade shedding blood, sweat and tears on the road and these bulldozing 2020 versions could level Mount Olympus itself“.

Joining in with the celebration, Noizze credits Larissa Stupar’s impressive vocals hailing them as “truly monstrous, her rabid growls and snarls lending an animalistic rage to the already pummelling compositions“. Almost two months ago Venom Prison released the official video for ‘Daemon Vulgaris‘ filmed by Stupar herself. The description on YouTube shared even more details on the upcoming release, focusing on the “force that underpinned the band’s momentum” and their ambitious and “unprecedented growth during turbulent times“.
