Yann Tiersen Announces New Album ’11 5 18 2 5 18′, Out June 10th

French composer Yann Tiersen has made a new announcement – an upcoming album from him is due out later this year. It’ll be released on June 10^th via Mute and should be available on both CD and digitally. Being called 11 5 18 2 5 18, the release should excite electronic music fans the world over as the man behind the soundtrack to Amélie is back yet again. Two tracks have been released and you can tell there’s a certain pattern emerging. The song 16 15 21 12 12. 2 15 10 5 18 and the album’s title track can be heard below.

The work will be Tiersen’s 13^th studio LP, and follows on from 2021’s Kerber. Working on the French island of Ushant in his Eskal Studio, he started experimenting in the run-up to a performance at Berlin’s modular and synthesizer Superbooth festival. The album shows him taking a number of samples and turning them into something new, using his experience in resampling and reprogramming techniques. And he’s not short-changing us on the packaging either. The CD will come in a card pack that includes spot gloss varnish. Or you can wait for the arrival of the limited edition clear double vinyl on September 30^th, all set with an etching on one of the sides.

He’s also got a new tour coming out in support of the album. Beginning on June 1^st, he’ll be going all over Europe, the USA, Mexico and Canada up till October, so if you’re excited to see him at work you can look for tickets here. Sadly there’s only one UK date on schedule so far, but for those of you free on September 8^th who fancy making the trip to London’s Roundhouse venue, he’s all yours.
