Baltimore’s Turnstile have enjoyed a rather quick ascent to popularity in the last few years. Originally a fairly innovative hardcore punk band, the group saw their name break out from the scene with the monumental success from 2021 third album ‘Glow On’. On the release they experimented with shoegaze-esque guitar effects, dreamy pop synthesisers and major-label production quality, while still retaining a punk edge to the compositions.

They pushed this sound further on 2025’s ‘Never Enough’, with the atmospheric elements dialled up to 11. The album generated an unmissable buzz online, with fans declaring a “Turnstile Summer” due to its feel-good sound and popular appeal. The reach was so broad that it saw the band perform on Jimmy Fallon’s late night talk-show, while also raking in industry plaudits. ‘Never Enough’ was nominated for five Grammys this year, making Turnstile the first band to be considered for all three genres of rock, metal and alternative music. In the ceremony at the start of February, it won for Best Rock Album, and the LP’s heaviest cut ‘Birds’ won Best Metal Performance. Additionally, they were nominated for International Group of the Year at this weekend’s BRIT Awards, narrowly losing out to fellow US band Geese.

After attending the BRITs in Manchester last Saturday, Turnstile’s debut visit to Australian radio broadcaster Triple J was uploaded this morning. Their “Like A Version” show typically brings bands into their studio to perform one of their own songs as well as a cover of another artist in their style. These live cover versions tend to be the main attraction, having drawn wildly different sounds to originals, such as Billie Eillish’s acoustic take on Michael Jackson’s ‘Bad’ and Royal Otis’ viral indie reworking of Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s ‘Murder On The Dancefloor’.

For Turnstile’s appearance, they elected to rip through a wild playthrough of track ‘Sunshower’ taken from ‘Never Enough’, and an ambient, impassioned cover of The Stone Roses’ ‘I Wanna Be Adored’. Though the “Madchester” indie-rock band only released two albums in their careers, debut full-length ‘The Stone Roses’ has become a timeless classic and a defining example of Manchester’s musical exploits. Turnstile’s reimagining utilises their arsenal of guitar pedals and soaring vocals to create a very modern, clean ballad in place of the original’s brooding, rockier sound.

On the 25th of November 2025, The Stone Roses’ bassist for both albums, Gary ‘Mani’ Mounfield passed away aged 63. Well-regarded as both a musician and a personality, his passing was mourned by many around the world, with his funeral becoming an occasion unifying many of Manchester’s musical icons.

In an accompanying interview posted by Triple J, frontman Brendan Yates explains ‘I Wanna Be Adored’ is “one of my favourite songs of all time. It’s unconventional and simple, and just very beautiful.” Guitarist Meg Mills, who joined the US band as their only British member in 2025, then speaks on their reasoning for selecting the song – “with the passing of Mani it felt like a really appropriate time to kind of like, pay homage to him. Definitely, as a Brit, Stone Roses were one of those bands that every kid that had any inkling towards anything alternative just knew from such an early age, just such an iconic band.” The cover was promoted on the band’s official Instagram account with the caption “RIP Mani”.

Turnstile brought their spectacular live show to the UK last year for both Glastonbury Festival and London’s Outbreak Festival, before capping the year off with their ‘Never Enough’ tour of Europe. This August they return with a set at London’s All Points East event on the 28th, as well as a special one-off solo show at The Piece Hall in Halifax on the 26th, with tickets available here. Franck first rose to fame, or perhaps notoriety, in the late 2000’s with Attack Attack!, an electronic metal band often ridiculed for their over-the-top emo image, embarrassing music videos, and a penchant for autotune and euro-pop dance beats. These factors made breakout hit ‘Stick Stickly’ an internet meme in 2009, racking up 19 million views on Youtube and hanging over the members for years. While the band, who came out of Ohio in the US, were largely bemoaned by heavy metal purists, there was a tongue-in-cheek quality to their songs and style, and an undeniable talent to the members’ playing and songwriting skills.

Franck played guitar and sang clean vocals on two Attack Attack! albums, leaving in November 2010 to pursue a closer relation with God. After other musical endeavours, magic started happening in 2016 when he devised a solo project to release bizarre fusion music and covers under. Bilmuri’s name comes from a cheeky homophone for the actor Bill Murray, with humour being a signature part of the band’s online presence and song titles.

At its core, Bilmuri was an outlet for experimentation, with Franck throwing rock, metal, punk, jazz, country and electronic music into a blender and seeing what came out. As a brilliant multi-instrumentalist he wrote, recorded and self-released 14 albums of varying length and style before major label debut ‘American Motor Sports’ dropped from Columbia Records in 2024. On it, he’d focused the sound down into a pairing of bright hard rock and emotional country, interrupted by the odd saxophone solo – a marriage which has to be heard to be fully appreciated.

When it came time to take Bilmuri on the road, Franck assembled a live touring band, which he has since brought over for a UK and Europe arena tour supporting British metal leading lights Sleep Token in 2024. In 2025 they embarked on their ‘European Motor Tour’ headline circuit, which sold out multiple medium-sized venues across the UK, even requiring an upgrade on their London date from the Electric Ballroom to the O2 Kentish Town Forum.

Earlier today they announced the follow-up to ‘American Motor Sports’, entitled ‘Kinda Hard’, with a release date of the 10th of April this year. So far two singles have been released, both with their trademark unusual music videos. ‘More Than Hate’ brought a metallic edge with chunky guitar riffs and a heavy breakdown, while ‘Hard 2 Tell’ is more of an accessible emo-rock anthem.

The reveal also heralded a new single called ‘Twice’ releasing this Friday, and pre-order links for physical and digital versions. This, paired with the promotional imagery of a proudly-topless Franck brandishing a katana, beside a wild hog, has already drummed up a lot of excitement for the album. Following the release date, the full band are setting out on a US headlining tour to support it.

In a career that’s spanned over 20 years in the music industry, Hayley Williams has become the biggest female name in pop punk with band Paramore, established herself as a radio-dominating solo artist, and now she’s trying something very, very different with her new launch of ‘Power Snatch’.

From her first steps into the music business, Hayley Williams had the eyes of the industry on her. In 2003, Atlantic Records signed her as a solo artist at the age of just 14, but she opted instead to begin her career by forming Paramore with school friends and recording more rebellious pop punk music. By the time debut album ‘All We Know Is Falling’ came out in 2005, she was still only 16 and was embarking on tours of the US with established acts.

Paramore went on to have significant lineup changes across 6 studio albums, with Williams always the consistent core that the band was built around, before their indefinite hiatus was announced in 2025. Once the touring cycle for 2017 studio album ‘After Laughter’ had finished, she had expressed a need to take a break from writing and touring. By 2019, she’d used this respite to create her debut solo album ‘Petals For Armor’, which came out in 2020 to mass critical acclaim. On the record, Williams sang as well as playing keyboards, guitar and drums on various tracks.

William’s followed up with 2 further solo albums, ‘Flowers for Vases/Descansos’ in 2021, and last year’s ‘Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party’ which was met with rave reviews and holds a score of 91 out of 100 on review site Metacritic. She had evolved her previous Paramore and solo music sounds into a pop rock behemoth, with diverse influences and impeccable audio fidelity. The album was co-written with and produced by Daniel James, a record producer she had worked with in the past.

Now in 2026, Hayley Williams has revealed new band Power Snatch, working again with Daniel James. And where her recent releases had valued sharp songwriting and clean production, their releases so far have moved into a grungier style, with a very deliberate muddy, lo-fi tone to them.

The first single ‘Assignment’ appeared on Apple Music last week, before a three track demo was made available to purchase on Bandcamp yesterday. Rather mysteriously, fans swiftly discovered an Instagram account created in July of last year, with a single cryptic post featuring audio from song ‘DUH’, suggesting that this announcement had been a while in the making.

Now after demonstrating another new musical venture while still celebrating the success of ‘Ego Death’, Williams will have no time to rest on her laurels – she embarks on her first solo tour in support of the album starting in the US this March. The sold-out ‘Hayley Williams At A Bachelorette Party’ road trip comes to the UK in June, hitting venues in London, Manchester, Glasgow and Dublin.
