Indie rocker Jamie T has claimed his first ever UK number one album, the singer’s recent release The Theory Of Whatever has been named this week’s number one. After a six-year hiatus from the charts, Jamie T’s new album has also topped the Official Vinyl Albums chart by selling the most copies on wax.

Speaking on his recent win, Jamie T told OfficialCharts.com, “Hello, ladies and gentlemen. Thank you for the support on the album. Thank you for the Number 1!“. The “Calm Down Dearest” singer took to social media to announce his award; within the post, the singer also confirmed the date for an upcoming show. The concert will see Jamie T headline a homecoming show at London’s Finsbury Park; the singer will perform to an audience of 45,000, marking his biggest show to date. The singer-songwriter will be joined by a roster full of special guests, further details concerning the event will be announced in due course.

Otherwise known as Jamie Alexander Treays, the singer’s number one album was released on 22nd July 2022 via Polydor Records. The Theory Of Whatever was proceeded by three singles, “The Old Style Raiders“, “St. George Wharf Tower“, and “Between The Rocks“. Before its release, Treays began to tease and promote the album’s release; on 27th April 2022 the singer confirmed The Theory Of Whatever’s release. The Theory of Whatever is the first release of new material since Jamie T’s break; the singer’s previous album Trick dropped in 2016.

Although The Theory Of Whatever is Jamie T’s first number one album, the singer has cracked the album charts top 5 four times before. The songwriter’s debut album Panic Prevention was released in 2007 and reached number 4 within the charts; the release was praised for its use of themes concerning youth culture and lyrical content. The singer’s second album Kings & Queens dropped two years later and charted at number 2; the album’s lead single “Sticks’ n’ Stones” also sired chart success and position within the singles charts top 20. Jamie T scored a hat trick in 2014 when Carry On Grudge reached number 4 within the album charts; Trick also charted well and placed at number 3.

Elsewhere within this week’s album charts, pop icons Bananarama have scored their highest position within the UK Official Album charts in 34 years. The duo’s twelfth studio album Masquerade has charted at number 22; the album marks their first top 20 release since The Greatest Hits Collection. The compilation album was the band’s first Greatest Hits LP and was released via London Records in 1988; via its original release, the album placed at number 3 on the UK Albums charts.

Earlier this month, Jamie T confirmed that he had added further dates to his upcoming The Theory Of Whatever Tour. Due to start this November, the headlining tour originally consisted of 10 dates and was initially meant to start on 10th November 2022 with a set in Newcastle. Due to popular demand, the singer added two more stops and will now kick off the tour on 8th November 2022. The second new date has been scheduled to close the series of live shows on 23rd November 2022 at Manchester’s O2 Victoria Warehouse.

Ezra has gradually snuck up on everybody as one of Britain’s most reliable and successful international exports of the last decade. With three UK number 1 albums now under his belt, he’s never skipped a beat, with every full length album he’s released grabbing the top spot. His song “Shotgun” from previous album Staying At Tamara’s hardly needs any introduction either, being George’s first No.1 single in the UK, it also went to No.1 in Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland, cementing the singer-songwriter’s star power across the world.

His latest album Gold Rush Kid has not given up on this ambition either. Rather than going for something a little different or leaning into more introspective inspiration for his third album, the pop tycoon kept the recipe familiar, attending to the classic reasoning of “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” and writing another boppy pop record built for summer bbq’s and kids playgrounds. What kind of playground has a PA system? I don’t know, but if there is one, it’s playing George Ezra’s “Green Green Grass“.

Wherever you stand on George’s tunes, one has to admit that he has a knack for effusive melodies that stick in your ears for weeks. Its no wonder then that this time honoured method has paid off with the kind of shows he gets to put on these days. Last night he sold 45 thousand tickets for his largest headline show to date at Finsbury Park, with big acts in their own rights supporting him like London’s International Gospel Choir, Mychelle, The Big Moon, Holly Humberstone, Mimi Webb, and Blossoms, it made for an event that was basically a music festival. It was such a massive show, that the arena dates he’s just added to his UK tour will look slim in comparison, of course they are not, but it will be interesting to see how much bigger this whole thing can get. Gig on the moon anyone?

The composer’s last performance in the United Kingdom took place in March, when he appeared with Ukraine’s Odessa Opera Orchestra at the O2 Arena in London. Zimmer commenced the performance with a stirring tribute to the people of Ukraine, saying: “When COVID stopped us from coming here 885 days ago, we booked our orchestra from the Ukraine, from Odessa, and we only managed to get 10 people out… So just welcome them…” he said before he introduced the orchestra, to a standing ovation… of the things which I thought was remarkable about the people that we did bring back out of the Ukraine, that were left behind from the orchestra, it was a lot of women. They taught me who the real wonder women are and so I would like to celebrate them with this little ditty called Wonder Woman.”

New Jersey rock outfit The Gaslight Anthem have announced their return to touring after a four-year break from being on the road. The New Brunswick quartet have announced a run of North American shows and EU/UK shows, with their North American tour scheduled to commence in September, and their EU/UK dates to kick off in August. You can purchase tickets for these upcoming shows here.

For any US fans, the band will be joined by two special guests on their North American tour; indie rock outfit Tigers Jaw, and indie/folk punk rocker Jeff Rosenstock. Brian Fallon, frontman of The Gaslight Anthem, stated on social media: “I am very pleased to announce to you all that The Gaslight Anthem is returning to full time status as a band.” Fallon went on to mention that the band had started putting together new music, saying: “We’re also beginning to write new songs for what will be our sixth LP. We’re looking forward to the future and seeing you all again. We want to thank you for staying with us.”

Hello everyone, Brian here. I hate to disappoint you, but I need to inform you that there will not be a 10th anniversary Handwritten Tour, or a documentary… However, I am very pleased to announce to you all that The Gaslight Anthem is returning to full time status as a band. pic.twitter.com/XtAZEDOWdw

The Gaslight Anthem is comprised of vocalist and rhythm guitarist Brian Fallon, lead guitarist Alex Rosamilia, bassist Alex Levine and drummer Benny Horowitz. Formed in 2006, the band have presently released five full-length albums since their inception, commencing with 2007’s Sink or Swim.

In 2008, the band found success with their second album The ’59 Sound, which was voted the number 1 album of 2008 by eMusic, and received high praise from Pitchfork, who gave the album an 8.6 rating. The group’s success also led them to occupy an unusual but noteworthy position in the world of music journalism; Kerrang! magazine featured the band on their front page without ever having written about the group or any of their past releases. The group received airplay on BBC Radio 6 Music, an embarked on their first UK and European tour in November of 2008.

The Gaslight Anthem released three albums following this; 2010’s American Slang, 2012’s Handwritten and 2014’s Get Hurt. Following the band’s 2015 tour in support of Get Hurt, they went on an indefinite hiatus, reuniting briefly in 2018 for a run of shows to celebrate the ten-year anniversary of The ’59 Sound. At this time, frontman Brian Fallon made it clear that The Gaslight Anthem would not be working on new material, and following the show, the band’s hiatus resumed.

Illinois-based industrial metal outfit Ministry have announced their forthcoming UK and EU “Moral Hygiene” tour, which will commence in Dortmund, Germany on the 28th of October. The group will be accompanied by Finnish rock band and Nuclear Blast labelmates The 69 Eyes. Tickets will go on sale tomorrow (Friday March 25th) at 10AM GMT.

The tour’s namesake comes from the group’s fifteenth studio album Moral Hygiene, which was originally released on October 1st of last year. The album was warmly received by critics and fans alike, with Sonic Perspectives praising both the sonic power of the album and its themes, saying: Not many bands know how to make a statement quite like Ministry, who have long brandished tenets of antifascism, staunch distaste of political corruption, and strong belief in equal rights…With blistering and aggressive riffage, “Moral Hygiene” tears through the wreckage and devastation of a broken world to make a statement while affirming Ministry’s legacy in industrial metal.”

Since their inception in the early 1980s, Ministry have put out a steady stream of musical releases, commencing with their debut full length With Sympathy in 1983. For anyone who know Ministry for their blistering riffs and monstrous vocals, it might come as quite the surprise that the band’s debut was actually a synthpop album, sharing more in common with bands such as Depeche Mode or New Order than the heavy industrial metal sound that the group would later hone. With Sympathy even featured singer Al Jourgensen singing in a somewhat convincing British accent, which he later stated was a homage to bands he loved at the time.

The group ventured into heavier territory with their 1986 sophomore album Twitch, which once again fit snugly into the “new wave” category, but was notably harsher and more intense. This record seems like a natural bridge to the territory that Ministry would inhabit with their next album, 1988’s The Land of Rape and Honey, which saw the band incorporating heavy metal style electric guitars into their sound. Their third album The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste put even more emphasis on the use of guitars, making for a record filled to the brim with urgent, thrashy songs and nightmarish soundscapes.

The group is a collaboration between Converge members and long-term musical partners; the supergroup was birthed in 2016 at the Dutch event Roadburn Festival. The members played as a seven-piece and performed a set full of revised Converge songs. The band’s performance was met with a surge of positive feedback; inspired by the applause, they decided to expand upon the Bloodmoon partnership.

The American supergroup consists of Converge band members vocalist Jacob Bannon, guitarist Kurt Ballou, bassist Nate Newton and drummer Ben Koller. Joining the quartet are American singer and musician Chelsea Wolfe, former Converge member and Cave In vocalist Stephen Brodsky and Wolfe’s long term collaborator Ben Chisholm.

The collective recently released the album Bloodmoon: 1 on 19th November 2021 via Epitaph Records and Deathwish Inc. The album was received with great critical acclaim and was highly ranked within the genre’s publications. Through the album’s initial release, the record was made available on CD and digital formats, the album will be available to own on Vinyl from 24th June 2022 and a second pressing on wax is set to be released this December.

A press release has provided the following description of the album, “Bloodmoon: I is a harrowing and atmospheric collaborative effort that sees each performer working together and outside the comfort zones in order to create something that is truly unique to the project.” So far the album has sired two singles, the title track “Blood Moon” was released on 27th September 2021 and “Coil” was released on 3rd November 2021.

The band’s ninth studio album, The Dusk In Us, was released on 3rd November 2017 and also attracted rave reviews from various publications.

British singer Charli XCX has taken to social media to share the full track-list for her upcoming album. Crash is set to be released on 19th March 2022. The singer has confirmed the names of the album’s tracks via the post; all twelve of the songs can be seen below.

The announcement confirming the release of the singer’s forthcoming album was made in November last year. Alongside the announcement for Crash, Charli XCX also shared the track “New Shapes”. The single was the second track to be released from Crash and features Christine And The Queens and Caroline Polachek. The 29-year-old artist has also collaborated with Rina Sawayama on the track “Beg For You”, the single was released on 27th January 2022 and was the third single to be released from the new album. Both collaborative tracks are included within the forthcoming album’s tracklist, along with the singles “Good Ones” and “Baby”.

Charli XCX has recently spoken on the process taken to produce “Baby”, the latest single to be taken from Crash. Within the statement, the singer also provides a description for her hotly anticipated album, “It’s probably the most sexy song I’ve ever made. It’s about sex and sexuality and having good sex and just feeling yourself essentially. I know that that’s the tone. I knew that that was the tone I wanted to carry across for the entire record. This kind of hyper-sexualised, feminine power zone was where I was feeling myself going, and ‘Baby’ was the genesis of this. Also I think that’s probably why I wanted to challenge myself on the choreo for this song, which was really, really tough and I have so much respect for dancers, professional dancers, anyone who communicates emotion through dance. It is so hard and challenging, but so rewarding.”

The Cambridge born singer first rose to prominence through MySpace; the genesis of the social media networking era and the first site in which to offer such services. Her songs soon gained the attention of industry professionals and the singer was signed to Asylum Records in 2010. Charli XCX was catapulted into fame with her collaboration with Icona Pop on the song “I Love It”, which was a global success and reached number one within the UK singles chart.

Last month, after a series of messages, Charli XCX teamed up with Vernon from the K-pop band SEVENTEEN. The duo released a remix of the single “Beg For You”, and Vernon’s contribution can be heard within a brand new verse. The K-pop idol has recently spoken on his admiration for Charli XCX, in an interview with Teen Vogue he stated that he is “still having a hard time grasping this reality”, he continued, “I just really want to say thank you to Charli for acknowledging my existence”.

Fans will be able to catch Charli XCX live this year; the singer will perform across the US, UK and Europe in support of her new album. After a string of US dates, the UK leg of the tour kicks off on 15th May 2022 with a performance at Glasgow’s O2 Academy, and the singer will conclude her UK tour on 23rd May 2022 with a set at Rock City in Nottingham.
