The theft occurred on 16th October 2021 whilst the singer’s tour van was parked at Wembley Travelodge car park over the weekend. The singer was in London for a gig at Electric Ballroom in Camden on Friday 15th October 2021. The perpetrators have stolen 13 items of equipment from the van including two Fender guitars and a custom-made kick drum that bears the singer-songwriter’s name.

The Dublin born singer-songwriter first gained popularity from her YouTube channel where she posted performances of cover songs. Gartland’s music has been identified within the genre of folk music, the singer has cited Joni Mitchell as her influence. Her first EP entitled Laughing at My Own Jokes was released in August 2011. However, Gartland’s first official EP is often regarded as Roots.

The artist’s EP, Roots, was released on 11th November 2013 to great critical acclaim. The release reached the top of the Irish album charts and reached number fifteen within the UK album charts. The four-track EP’s title track “Roots” became Apple iTunes Single of The Week within the UK and Ireland. The singer’s next EP, Lonely People, was released on 18th January 2015, the release incorporated funk styles into Gartland’s trademark folk-pop sound. The singer has released two more Eps, Why Am I like This? and Freckle Season before her debut album.

Gartland’s first studio album, Woman on the Internet, was released on 20th August 2021 and has sired three singles. The first single, “Pretending” was released on 16th October 2020. The album’s second single entitled “More Like You” was released on 13th January 2021, the track explores themes of jealously and identity. The third single taken from the debut album, “Zombie!” was released on 13th April 2021 and discussed toxic masculinity within society. Within the latest single, Gartland worked with producer Pete Robertson. Robertson is known for his work with singer-songwriter beabadoobee and indie rockers The Vaccines.

The artist has just finished eight UK performances, the singer embarked on tour earlier this month in support of her debut album. The singer-songwriter began the UK leg of her tour on 6th October in Bristol and finished with a performance in Brighton on 17th October. Gartland will be hitting the road again on 16th December with three performances in Ireland. In Spring next year Gartland will begin the European leg of her tour. Starting on 6th April, the singer will perform in twelve European cities.

The new song is the second release since the album has been announced. In August the band shared the single “Sick” which frontman Henry Camamile described as “basically me listing everything I’m pissed off with at the time. It’s anything from shit that isn’t good for me through to things I used to love, like being sick of The Beatles. It was like a ‘Fuck, I’m at the end of my tether’ kind of thing“.

The new release “Again Again” “is about trying to personify the intensity and rush of life’s excesses. Accepting the inevitability of it and the hatred in being boring. It’s one of the last songs I wrote for the new album, ruminating on my teenage years” explains Camamile.

Homesick is due on 14th January and can be pre-ordered here. It’s the band’ long-awaited release after their latest debut album from 2020, Open Your Head. It tackled some heavyweight themes like mental health and drugs and it received great critical praise.

The Guardian in their review said about the album: “by using old tools and well-worn paths they’ve managed, rather impressively, to capture something of the strange, stultifying state of contemporary youth“. The Edge in their four-star review said: “Open Up Your Head showcases all of the bands potential and overall it is an exciting and engaging project“. NME added: “it is an accomplished debut that takes Sea Girls’ brand of indie-rock on countless new adventures, and leaves plenty of doors ajar for further exploration for a genre in dire need of a kick up the backside.“

The new album has been recorded during the pandemic therefore similar themes are expected. “I thought a lot about mortality and dying – what it means to be alive and how lucky we are. All the songs came after the pandemic started, so thematically it intensified things” Camamile told NME.

He added “We’re moving on and we’re bringing something different. We could have made the first album again but we didn’t. We were really ruthless, we skimmed out any excess. It’s better than the first record and we feel so proud of it.”

The Poison (2005) set up Bullet For My Valentine as the biggest metal band in the world, influencing bands for the next decade and a half. They have come back with Scream Aim Fire (2008) which saw the hit song “Waking The Demon” open up festivals everywhere. A constant fight with their demons on whether their next record will be the dark heavy album that lays waste to the crowd, on albums like Venom and Fever, or arena pleasing crowd chorus’, on recent album Gravity.

Their six studio albums cover a range of emotions and directions, which has been a force for growth in the past. As some of their albums reach their 10-year anniversary, it is brilliant to see a band so fuelled by the passion that made them approach new music this year. Touring alongside huge metal acts like Asking Alexandria, While She Sleeps, and many more. With all this behind them, they are ready for their next step.

Now with the new self-titled album on its way we see them return to their roots with gut blasting singles. The latest track, “Rainbow Veins”, approaches the same level of manic musicality that they have proposed in the past. Having not released an album since 2018, it is possible that lockdown had its influence on the anger behind these tracks. With the news that the album release date pushed back until November 5th, due to COVID-related manufacturing delays, the excitement for this record is growing to new heights thanks to “Rainbow Veins”. Bullet debuted the single “Knives” at Download Pilot this year, followed by “Parasite” and “Shatter”. Bullet For My Valentine prepare people for their heaviest album in years, and possibly ever? Clearly, something is afoot because the video for this song is seriously brutal.

Martha Wainwright shared a new video for the moody opening track from her recently released album Love Will Be Reborn.

The video for “Middle Of The Lake” was filmed in Esterel, just outside Montreal. As per the press statement, the track “sets the stage for a record full of revelations – both light and dark – and chronicles Wainwright’s personal journey over the last few years as she finds a way to move forward after a painful divorce“.

Wainwright explained that the song has been “Inspired by a strange covid summer morning at a surreal lake house in the Laurentians when I was stuck in a canoe in the reeds alone and happy. I knew that I would be back on stage again singing at some point and that that was the thing that would save my life. On this song me and the band are dancing, moving and flying through the uncertainty, but then landing together safe and sound”.

The song is the first one on the record, but the last one written by the singer. Watch the video for “Middle Of The Lake” below.

The singer spoke recently about her painful divorce and depression that prevented her from composing new music. “This record is obviously a reflection on that, but also clearly a new beginning and a new era. And there’s a new relationship, which was very much unexpected and very different. And I never would have expected anything as romantic or as overwhelmingly powerful” she said in an interview with Pastemagazine. “I’m really relieved, also, becasue without that, the record would have been a lt darker, And depressing. And sort of … plaqued” – she continues.

Wainwright also shared that a lot of her songs are autobiographical and “a lot of them have to do with being worthy or accepted or loved (…) and motherhood too, of course“.

The singer will embark on a UK tour this Autumn. Full info about the dates, venues and tickets can be found in the recent Mxdwn article. Please note, as the London show has been sold out, an extra date has been added:

21/09/21 – Union Chapel – London

Folk-rock singer-songwriter Martha Wainwright shared a new uplifting track “Hole In My Heart” from her upcoming album.
Following the release of the title track in May and the single “Falaise De Malaise” last month, the new song is the latest addition to her forthcoming album “Love Will Be Reborn“.

The new single “is a playful song that’s brimming with joy. The song serves as the emotional flip side to previous song “Falaise de Malaise”, a song steeped in despair and sadness, the storm to the sunshine” shares the press release. The last single was written and sung in ‘Franglais’ (a mix of English and French). The singer said at that time: “I’ve always sung in French (Piaf record and various covers..) but this is the first time I’ve allowed myself to compose in it”.

Listen to and watch the video for “Hole In My Heart” below.

Like many records this year, Wainwright’s upcoming release has been produced during a global pandemic and recorded in the singer’s hometown, Montreal. Records were made in the basement of her cafe, which also serves as a studio.
The singer has recently been added to the Best Albums Of 2021 by HMV. She reached the Top 10 alongside Lorde, Jungle, Chvrches, Jake Bugg, Maisie Peters, Bleachers, Deafheaven, Jade Bird and Mr Jukes & Barney Artist.

Aussie three-piece rock band DMA have expanded their huge UK and Ireland Tour 2021. They have announced six additional shows on top of the upcoming Autumn tour.
DMA’s latest album “The Glow” has been a big success and now after the COVID-19 restrictions eased out, they can finally share it with their fans during live performances. The Latest release received great reviews, with NME‘s four stars calling it: “a hyper-charged record of dance and decadence“.
Mxdwn called it: “a must listen for anyone who’s a fan of Britpop, electronic dance beats or feels ever so slightly lost“. You can read our detailed review here.
DMA’s UK and Ireland tour has been previously set to 2020 and postponed until this summer. The band have unfortunately been forced to moved few summer shows until Autumn, which they’ve announced at the beginning of July.
Putting cancellations behind, the great news is the new dates have been added to the tour.

DMA’s supposed to perform at the cancelled UK Festivals: Kendall Calling and Y-Not. They will now be performing at closed indoor venues.
“We’re gutted that we aren’t able to come over and play the UK this summer. We’d been trying to make it work and were all ready to go, but the recent festival situation means it’s no longer feasible” the band previously shared in a statement.

Adding “We really appreciate some of you have been holding tickets for well over a year, and we hope you agree that rather than wait yet another year we move the summer headline shows onto our autumn tour and into some great indoor venues.

The British rock band Kasabian have announced 15 tour dates across the UK, which will commence this autumn.

Kasabian will be kicking off their tour at the O2 Academy Glasgow on 13 October 2021, with a pit stop in their hometown of Leicester for a night at De Montfort Hall on 27 October; they will be closing their first tour in nearly three years at Brixton’s O2 Academy on 02 November. The band said in a press release: “We’re incredibly excited to announce these intimate shows. We love our band, our music and our fans too much to ever stop! We’ll be playing all the classic tunes plus something new for the mosh pit to bounce too. So come join us for the biggest party of 2021! See you there.”

The tour will be the band’s first since former lead vocalist Tom Meighan stepped down due to personal issues; guitarist Sergio Pizzorno will be assuming the role of frontman in his absence. Meighan was asked to leave the band last year after he faced a charge of alleged assault against his former partner. Kasabian’s remaining band members said in a statement at the time: “No one in the band wanted this to happen. We have all worked so hard for the past 23 years and had big plans for our future together. We’re completely heartbroken. But we were left with no choice but to ask Tom to leave the band. There is absolutely no way we can condone his assault conviction. Domestic violence and abuse of any kind is totally unacceptable.”

The Leicester indie-rock band, originally called Saracuse, formed in 1998. Their 2006 album ‘Empire’ reached UK Number 1 following the departure of guitarist Chris Karloff and, unbeknownst to them, was the beginning of their spot at the top. Racking up several esteemed awards across their time in the music industry, Kasabian were the true winners of the 00s indie scene when they were invited on Oasis’ last world tour in 2009, opening their shows at several venues across Europe. In 2019, Pizzorno collaborated with slowthai and Little Simz on his debut solo project, ‘The SLP,’ which charted at Number 7 in the UK.
