Whilst her debut album ‘Snow Angel’ lead her to her first UK Top 10 album, taking place at number 7, her newest release went over all her expectations.

Close behind is British band Oasis with three of their albums in the charts, ‘Time Flies’, ‘Morning Glory’ and ‘Definitely Maybe’. Chappell Roan being on top of this week’s singles chart with brand new single ‘The Subway’. A new entry in this week’s charts is also Irish singer-songwriter, Cian Ducrot with ‘Little Dreaming’.

The ‘Bite Me’ singer will embark on the Bite Me Tour later this year with a European leg going throughout 2026. She’ll arrive in the UK to headline Manchester’s AO Arena on March 18, and London’s OVO Arena Wembley the following night.
Tickets for the ‘Bite Me Tour’  will go on sale on Friday August 1 at 10am on Ticketmaster.

Her new album ‘Bite Me’ has been available to stream on all platforms and sees the singer with her producer Alexander as well as collaborations including Omer Fedi, Ryan Tedder, Julian Bunetta, and Carter Lang. In a recent interview with AP, she said of the album: “I wanted to love this. I wanted to be able to walk away from this and be so proud of myself and impressed, no matter what anybody else thought. That intention, and also wanting to prove it to myself, was really gruelling. And also really fun.”

The album released on October 28 and crowned the top spot last minute, as Mancunian indie rock band Courtneers released their newest album Pink Cactus Café on October 31 which held the top spot until Thursday 31, October.

Tyler Gregory Okonma, known professionally as Tyler, the Creator beat his UK chart record when Chromakopia climbed to the top spot. Chromakopia tops Tyler’s previous peak at Number 4, which was achieved with the release of Call Me If You Get Lost in 2021 and Igor in 2019.

The rapper and record producer known for experimentation in the field of alternative hip hop released Chromakopia to move away from passive listening and towards music listeners being able to actively listen and absorb its contents.

In an interview with Canadian journalist Nardwuar last year, Tyler spoke about the attitudes surrounding album release dates and his preference to weekday releases: “I think if you put it out during the week, man, that commute to work, or that commute to school… you really have that hour, 30 minutes to really dive in and really listen”. With this in mind, Tyler released Chromakopia on Monday 06:00 EST, three days after the Official Charts Company began counting streams and sales on 0:01 on Friday.

The crowning of Chromakopia at Number One was a close call, there was fewer than 800 chart units between Tyler and Courtneers, who took the second spot. The chart also saw Sabrina Carpenter’s continued chart dominance at Number 3 with Short N’ Sweet, Bastille with & at Number 4 and Charli xcx’s Brat at 5.

The album was announced on October 17, 11 days before its release on October 28. However, the hype was enough as Tyler also occupies the Number One spot on the US Billboard 200, his third number one album. This is a commendable achievement for the rapper given he has never achieved a top 10 single in the US charts.

Four days after the album’s announcement, the ‘See You Again’ performer released Chromakopia’s lead single, ‘Noid’. The track’s experimental production dives into themes of paranoia with its lyricism, providing insight into the experiences of individuals in the public eye. ‘Noid’ samples vocals from Paul Ngozi of Ngozi Family from their track, ‘Nizakupanga Ngzo’. Paul Ngozi sings in his native Nyanja language; these lyrical contributions propel Tyler’s creativity which are further showcased throughout Chromakopia. The monochrome music video features American Actress Ayo Edebiri, who plays the role of a startled fan which in Tyler’s paranoia mistakes her recording phone for a gun.

Chromakopia features ‘St. Chroma’ and ‘Thought I Was Dead’, both of which were used as promotional samples for the newly released album.

Tyler, the Creator achieved his first UK Number 1 album with Chromakopia proving his discography, which spans over a decade, proves to be continually engaging and powerful to UK audiences.

The return of one of the UK’s most prolific guitarists comes in the form of a full-length studio album Luck And Strange, which was released on 6 September 2024 by Sony Music and is his fifth studio solo album to date. It has been nine years since English guitarist and singer-songwriter has released an album.

It is one of three of his solo albums to hit number-one status – the other two being On An Island (2006) and Rattle That Lock (2015) – alongside a flurry of singles from Luck and Strange steadily dropped since April 2024. With the first being The Piper’s Call followed by Between Two Points and Dark and Velvet Nights, the album’s title-track was released this week.

According to Rolling Stone, the album was recorded over five months at Gilmour’s Medina Studio in Hove and at Mark Knopfler’s British Grove Studios in London, with the producer Charlie Andrew.

The album grapples with themes regarding mortality and age. Turning 78 this year, it is no wonder these subjects are clearly on his mind. David Gilmour is best known for being one of the members of prolific rock band, Pink Floyd. He joined the band in 1967 and was part of the group during their most successful period. Pink Floyd, one of the most acclaimed and highest-selling bands of all-time, created some of the most ground-breaking albums in music history: The Dark Side of the Moon (1973), Wish You Were Here (1975), Animals (1977) and The Wall (1979).

He ranks at #28 on the Rolling Stone greatest guitarist of all-time list. If you haven’t listened to them already, here is a list of David Gilmour’s solo studio albums:

The high chart position marks the singer’s first album to spend more than one week as number one since 2011, Beyoncé’s fourth studio album 4 spent two weeks as the UK’s number one album after it debuted at the top of the charts.

After Renaissance was released on 29th June 2022 via Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records, it was announced that Beyoncé had achieved another feat. The singer has been named the fourth woman in music history to have ten tracks position at the top of the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip- Hop chart. Respected music industry organisation Billboard reported the figures this week, the report confirmed that the album’s lead single “Break My Soul” held the stats to place the singer in fourth place.

Elsewhere within this week’s UK album charts, American rapper, Eminem has been named this week’s highest new entry. The artist’s new compilation album Curtain Call 2 has debuted at number three in the UK, marking Eminem’s twelve Top 10 album in the UK so far. The “The Real Slim Shady” rapper’s second greatest hits album was released on 5th August 2022 via Aftermath Entertainment, Shady Records and Interscope Records. The new release is a follow-up to the Detroit act’s first greatest hits, Curtain Call: The Hits, which was released on 2005 and reached number one within the UK album charts.

Making a triumphant return to the UK album Top 20 are indie rockers Glass Animals, the group’s recent release Dreamland has placed at number 20. The Oxford-based group’s third studio album was originally released on 7th August 2020 and came four years after their second studio album How To Be A Human Being. After its original release, Dreamland placed at number two within the UK album charts and sired five singles including “Heatwaves” which placed at number 5 on the UK singles charts. The surge of interest in the album can be linked to its anniversary, last week saw Glass Animals reissue the album on limited edition formats in celebration of the album’s two-year birthday.

Due to their return to the live stage after a three-year hiatus, Artic Monkeys’ album AM has leapfrogged five places to chart at number 22. The Sheffield rocker’s fifth studio album was originally released in September 2013 via the British independent label Domino. The album was proceeded by three singles, “R U Mine?”, “Do I Wanna Know?” and “Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?”. Upon the album’s initial release it charted at the top of the UK album charts, making the group’s fifth number one album. All of the award-winning band’s albums have scored the top spot, with their set at Reading & Leeds coming up music fans have betted that more of the Arctic Monkey’s albums will re-enter the charts.

The hotly anticipated release marks the singer’s fourth solo number one album and is her first chart-topping release in six years. Beyoncé’s solo seventh studio album has accumulated a huge sales figure and has outsold its completion by 3:1. The album’s success has also reached physical formats, Renaissance has been named the UK’s highest-selling vinyl this week and has topped the Official Vinyl Album Chart.

Beyoncé is of course no stranger to chart success, the singer has topped the UK album charts with three previous albums. The 40-year-old singer first found chart success as a solo artist in 2003 with her debut album Dangerously In Love, the LP soon became a key ingredient of modern popular music and won numerous Grammy Awards in 2004. The “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)” singer then topped the UK charts with 4, released in 2011 via Columbia Records the album marked the end of the singer’s temporary hiatus.

The singer scored a chart hat track in 2016 with her album Lemonade, Beyoncé’s sixth studio album was a critical success and is regarded as a modern masterpiece. The album’s release was also accompanied by a film of the same name, the album’s visual feature was produced by the singer and premiered on HBO the same year. Beyoncé also scored a number one album as part of Destiny’s Child, Survivor was released in 2001 and was a gigantic commercial success for all band members.  

Beyoncé’s latest chart-topper was released on 29th July 2022 via Columbia Records and comes seven years after Lemonade. Also known as Act:1 Renaissance, the album is the first part of a trilogy masterminded by the singer. So far the album has sired one track, its lead single “Break My Soul” was released on 20th June 2022 and has also topped the UK singles charts. The single has placed at number two within this week’s singles charts, marking the singer’s highest position for a solo release on the UK singles charts in 14 years.

Elsewhere within the album charts, legendary electro duo Orbital have scored their tenth top 40 album. The group’s greatest hits collection 30 Something has placed at number 19, the Kent-formed group’s new release marks their sixth compilation album. Released on 29th July 2022 via Orbital Recordings, the album includes a tracklist of previously unreleased songs and exclusive remixes of the band’s extensive back catalogue. Along with such tracks as “Halcyon” and “The Box”, the album includes a 30 Something Years Later Mix of the band’s first ever single “Chime”.

Along with its success within the Album charts, the album has also found success within the physical market and has topped the official Vinyl albums charts. Speaking to OfficialCharts.com the singer celebrated his win, “Thank you to everyone who’s listening to the record, it means a lot. See you on tour!”

The album’s chart success marks the Scottish singer’s third UK number one album. Nutini first topped the UK album charts with his second studio album Sunny Side Up, released in 2009 the album was recorded by the singer and his band The Vipers. The singer’s next soared to the top spot in 2014 with his third studio album Caustic Love, the LP sired four singles including the top 10 hit “Scream (Funk My Life Up)”.

After debuting at number one within the album charts, Last Night In The Bittersweet secured Nutini a chart hat trick. The 35-year-old artist’s recently released album comes eight years after his last studio album and was proceeded by two singles, “Through the Echoes” and “Loose it” were both released on 11th May 2022. Released via Atlantic Records, the album’s third single “Shine A Light” was released on 1st June 2022 and two more tracks “Acid Eyes” and “Petrified In Love” dropped on 22nd June 2022.

Elsewhere within the charts, this week’s second-highest new entry has been awarded to Shinedown for their new album Planet Zero. The Floridan rocker’s fourth studio album was released 1st July 2022 via Atlantic and has placed at number four within this week’s UK Album charts. The album marks the group’s first-ever top 5 placement within the UK charts, the Billboard Music Awards nominees last placed high with their 2018 album Attention Attention which charted at number 8.

Another new entry has also placed high within this week’s UK album charts, Unprecedented by UB30 has charted at number 8. The album was released under the name UB40 featuring Ali Campbell and Astro, the compilation album consists of covers as well as new material. Following her headlining performance at BST Hyde Park this weekend, Adele’s 30 has enjoyed a resurgence of popularity. The singer’s chart-topping album has jumped 49 places to chart at number 25 within this week’s UK album charts.

Nutini is currently riding high from his appearance at this year’s TRNSMT Festival, the singer performed at the Glasgow event on Friday 8th July 2022. The “Jenny Don’t Be Hasty” singer will next perform at the Italian festival Anfiteatro Del Vittoriale on 15th July 2022, after seven more performances in Italy, Nutini is set to perform in Ireland on 21st August 2022. This Summer will see the singer perform at various UK events before embarking on an arena tour this Autumn, Nutini will kick off the tour with a two day residency at Manchester’s O2 Victoria Warehouse on 22nd and 23rd October 2022.

On first impressions it feels like a far more ambient and spacious record from Paolo’s previous offering Caustic Love. Still direct in it’s intention, it carries a great deal of heart in its reverberant surroundings mainly due to Paolo’s brilliantly dynamic and emotive vocal. Ever the magician with his impressive range, he effortlessly flips between several octaves throughout the album and utilises his deeper register more so than on previous releases, delivering several spoken word moments that deepen the intimacy of songs like “Afterneath”, “Stranded Words (Interlude)”, and “Lose It“.

Judging by the Official Charts midweeks, Nutini is set to claim his third UK number 1 album with Last Night In The Bittersweet, currently outselling his nearest rival 4:1. A recent article by the company explains “The 35-year-old Scottish singer-songwriter’s fourth studio album marks his first release in eight years and tracks to score him a hat-trick of Number 1 albums. Paolo has previously topped the Official Albums Chart with 2009’s Sunny Side Up and 2014’s record Caustic Love“.

I was lucky enough to get a preview of the new album back in May when Paolo played a run of 4 shows at London’s iconic 100 Club. It was hot ticket in town, selling out in seconds and crashing the server it was provided on, so when I say I was lucky to be there I really mean it. Aside from the maddening chatter that went on amongst the audience throughout anything that wasn’t “Iron Sky” or “Candy”, the gig was great and a real moment for me as a long time Paolo fan getting to see him in a room of only 350 people. Surprisingly he seemed incredibly happy and grateful to be back on stage, I always took him for a crippling introvert due to his complete disregard for social media and a public life, but here he seemed at home.

Bounding on stage with a grown out mop of hair and cheshire cat grin on his face, everything about his set screamed “I don’t give a f***”, tearing into songs like “Lose It” with the free abandon you’d expect from a singer that hasn’t released any music in 8 long years. The album flowed much then like it does through my speakers now, but for some reason it feels more powerful as I tune in today, perhaps sobriety is my ally, but today the richness and maturity of the record is really shining through. Classically old in its sound, from “Petrified In Love” onwards it’s almost hypnotic, fully pulling you into Nutini’s mind and experiences. The final song, “Writer“, plays everything out and is my personal highlight, in the last 20 minutes I’ve gone from never hearing it before to playing it nearly 10 times, from being fairly flat to almost being in tears. It’s a truly special song.

I’d say overall Last Night In The Bittersweet is a record that will likely benefit from multiple listens, but on the first alone I can already appreciate it as a stellar addition to Paolo’s legacy. Up the scots.
