South London’s indie favourites The Maccabees have announced their live reunion yesterday, 20 May. The band, formed of brothers Hugo and Felix White on guitar, along with Orlando Weeks on vocals, Rupert Jarvis on bass and Sam Doyle on drums, will be performing an intimate gig at London’s Dome to raise money for the MS society. The performance will be in honour of the White brothers’ mother who suffered from the condition.

The performance on 20 June will be a comeback from their eight year hiatus after splitting at the peak of their career in 2016. The gig will have a capacity of only 300, organised by Hugo and Felix White. With Dork Magazine, Felix had this to say: “This show means a lot to us as MS is a cause close to our hearts. When we knew the band were getting back together, we really wanted to do something again to support the MS Society.”

Hugo added, “Our mum had MS so we know the devastating effect it can have on young people and families. We’ve always done what we can to raise awareness and funds for the MS Society, and we’re delighted to be able to put on this show.”

The band have worked closely with the MS Society for years with the White brothers becoming MS Society Ambassadors in 2016. They announced their return in October 2024 with the news of their upcoming headline performance at All Points East on 24 August.

John Lydon, also known as Johnny Rotten, has dismissed any chance of the Sex Pistols getting together in the studio for a sequel to their influential debut, ‘Never Mind The Bollocks’.

The album, released in 1977, galvanised the growing punk movement in Britain, featuring hits like “God Save the Queen” and “Anarchy In The UK”.

It was the only offering from the band, as they split up a few months later in 1978 following a chaotic US tour.

He described the Pistols fanbase as “very demanding” in an interview with Blitzed Magazine, saying: “They’ll grab hold of you, and they won’t let go of that vision of you. You can’t live your life according to somebody else’s illusions about you. You just can’t.”

“You’ve got to be true to yourself. For me, I’ve always declared I had a vast, vast record collection of music, so I was influenced in many different directions and some of them completely contradictory to each other.”

“And so I’d say to those that were still expecting ‘Never Mind the Bollocks Part 2’ – f**k off you idiot. What are you not listening to?”

Last year, The Sex Pistols held two reunion shows at London’s Bush Hall, playing ‘Never Mind The Bollocks’ in full. They chose Gallows frontman Frank Carter to take Lydon’s place as lead vocalist.

Following an overwhelming response to their reunion, they embarked on a UK comeback tour.

John voiced his disapproval, telling the i Paper that he was “pissed off” when the remaining band members were set to tour without him last year, calling it a “karaoke” act that undermines their legacy.

He explained: “I just thought, ‘they’re absolutely going to kill all that was good with the Pistols by eliminating the point and the purpose of it all’.

“They’re trying to trivialise the whole show to get away with karaoke but in the long term I think you’ll see who has the value and who doesn’t,”

“I’ve never sold my soul to make a dollar. It’s the Catholic in me – that guilt I don’t want to trip.”

The relationship between Lydon and the rest of the band has been sour for some time – guitarist Steve Jones told NME that the band haven’t spoken to him in 17 years. Recently, the former frontman lost a legal battle against his old bandmates, after refusing to license the use of the Sex Pistols music in Danny Boyle’s 2022 biographical mini-series, Pistol.

Meanwhile, Lydon’s band Public Image Ltd will be touring in 2025. The post-punk group debuted in the late 70’s following the disbandment of the Sex Pistols.

The Pistols have scheduled a handful of dates for 2025, including at Download Festival, alongside acts such as Green Day, Sleep Token and Korn.

The masked musician is set to drop ‘U2OPIA’ soon. At the end of last year, he released a five-track EP titled ‘Road 2 U2OPIA’. Since then, he’s dropped a couple of singles – “Tuff Right?”, a spacey, synth-heavy trapwave banger, and “10:54”, a downtempo, floaty flute-trap track.

M Huncho, real name unconfirmed, hails from North-West London and has been making waves in the industry since 2017. His distinct mix of grime, drill, trap and R&B has seen him carve his own lane in the UK music scene.

His breakthrough came with his “Mad About Bars” freestyle with Kenny Allstar, which has today amassed 30 million views. He then released his first mixtape ‘Utopia’, which features hits like ‘Tranquility’ and ‘Ocho Cinco’. He’s had garnered a loyal fanbase and seen chart success, with albums ‘Huncholini The 1st’ and ‘Chasing Euporia’ securing spots in the UK Top 5.

Known for his mysterious image as well as his melodies, M Huncho has covered his face since he first arrived on the scene. You can even buy a M Huncho mask from different online outlets. Its striking style is reminiscent of MF Doom – Huncho has said before that he’s a fan of the late hip-hop legend.

He’s explained in interviews with Vice and Complex UK that the mask is more for “privacy” than anything else, saying that “I’m not in this for fame or for any type of celebrity status. I just make music and maintain with my close friends and family. That’s all that matters to me. All this other stuff is here today and gone tomorrow.”

For someone with a dedication to his privacy, he’s still managed to maintain a strong media presence. He’s appeared on The Big Narstie Show alongside Little Mix, and featured on episodes of prominent YouTube series like Chicken Shop Date and Gasworks.

As we wait for the M Huncho tour to commence, you can listen to a session he recently did for Balaami, with other up and coming artists on the trapwave scene such as Kilo Jugg, Figs0, Treez0, Jus Banco, ad Gd Up.

Robbie Williams has unveiled plans for an upcoming album that features collaborations with rock legends Glenn Hughes of Deep Purple and Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi. The pop icon revealed the news during an interview with NME, where he also discussed his semi-autobiographical biopic, Better Man, and hinted at a new album release.

The upcoming album, Williams’ first since 2019, will join his extensive discography of 12 solo albums. Before achieving solo success, the pop star was a member of 1990s boy band Take That, a group that sold over 45 million records with hits like ‘Pray’, ‘Relight My Fire’, and ‘Back for Good’. Reflecting on his new project on Virgin Radio, the singer admitted he had written “loads of songs” and noted how pop hits have often emerged unintentionally during the creative process.

Since September 2024, rumours of a collaboration between Williams and Iommi have surfaced after Williams’ drummer, Karol Brazil, mentioned the track ‘Rocket’ on the Percussion Discussion podcast. Brazil said “He’s got an album that we’ve been working on. He’s working with various people but I’ve been fortunate enough to do some songs with him. We’ve done a track called ‘Rocket’ with Tony, which is very random.” Brazil described the song as “a rocker and really cool.”

In Williams’ interview with NME, he confirmed the rumours and shared additional details including that Glenn Hughes also plays on the track. The singer said: “I wanted to create the album I would have made if I left Take That now, knowing what I know. This particular song [Rocket] encapsulates that vision perfectly,” he said.

Williams explained “That one in particular is my favourite song off my new album – that I’ve just announced is happening!” due to its “massive guitars” and “adrenaline-filled” energy.

When asked about a release date, Williams playfully responded: “Let’s see how well the film does first…”

A bold creative decision by director Michael Gracey depicts Williams as a CGI monkey, a concept inspired by Gracey’s desire to portray the singer’s “spirit animal” and make it stand out amid the recent surge in biopic productions.

Williams elaborated on this creative choice during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, emphasising his unique approach to representing his story.

To coincide with his album and biopic, Williams will embark on a major tour across UK, Ireland, and Europe, kicking off in Edinburgh on May 31. Commenting on the tour, Williams promised songs from Better Man and new tracks alongside fan favourites such as ‘Angels’ and ‘Let Me Entertain You’.

“This tour is going to be my boldest yet,” Williams said in a statement. “I can’t wait to see you next year. There will be songs from the movie and some new music…but more on that soon.”

The Manchester venue, with a capacity of 3,500, offers an intimate experience, ensuring that even at 77 years of age, Iggy’s legendary energy and stage presence will remain the focal point. For comparison, Alexandra Palace holds a hefty 10,000, while Glasgow’s O2 Academy fits 2,500, making the Victoria Warehouse a mid-sized addition to the tour.

Tickets for the Manchester show will be available through Ticketmaster, with O2 customers gaining early access two days before the general sale. Given the demand for the original dates, fans should act quickly to secure their place. Tickets w=for those with O2 priority will be able to purchase through the link at 9am on Wednesday December 4, and general sale will begin at 9am on Friday December 6. Tickets for the London date cost £75, so fans wanting to see the Manchester show should be expecting to pay a similar amount.

Though details may shift, fans can expect Iggy Pop to deliver a career-spanning setlist, showcasing tracks from his time with The Stooges to his prolific solo career. Recent shows have opened with the Stooges’ iconic ‘T.V. In 2023, his show made headlines when he hosted Tom Waits, in what one fan called a “growl-off” between the two legends and their hoarse voices.

Iggy Pop’s return to Manchester marks his first performance in the city since 1993. For a city that birthed post-punk pioneers like Joy Division and The Fall—bands heavily influenced by Iggy’s early work—the concert feels like a homecoming of sorts. While the city’s musical scene has evolved, Manchester continues to celebrate its rich heritage, and Iggy Pop’s presence will undoubtedly feel like a full-circle moment for fans.

With his boundless energy and rebellious spirit, Iggy Pop’s live shows remain as electrifying as ever. Whether you’re a longtime fan or a newcomer drawn by his BBC Radio 6 presence, the Manchester date offers a rare chance to witness one of music’s true originals.

The concerts lined up will see most original band members performing: James Fearnley, Jem Finer and Spider Stacy have confirmed they will be returning to the band for their revival tour. Furthermore, the band has announced there’ll be special guests throughout the nights of tour.

The tour is relatively limited, with only six dates set so far; it will be starting off from Leeds and culminating in Newcastle on May 8. Here are all the stops and venues:

Leeds, O2 Academy (May 1)

Birmingham, O2 Academy (May 2)

London, O2 Academy Brixton (May 3)

Glasgow, Barrowland (May 6)

Manchester, O2 Apollo (May 7)

Newcastle, O2 City Hall (May 8)

The Pogues begun their career in the early 80s in London, with little success at first. They released their first album, titled “Red Roses for Me” in 1984 and successively their hit record “Rum Sodomy and The Lash” the following year. The latter album gained The Pogues critical acclaim and peaked at 13 on UK charts, eventually receiving a gold certification. “Rum Sodomy and The Lash” is perhaps The Pogue’s most successful studio album.

The band kept releasing albums with their front man, Shane MacGowan, until 1991. Their record “If I should Fall From Grace with God” peaked at number 3 on UK charts, making it their highest achieved position on UK charts; the record also includes the hit Christmas song “Fairytale of New York” which comes back to charts every year at Christmas, but always fails to achieve number one.

After firing MacGowan, the band released a few records that weren’t reviewed positively by critics and failed to achieve success. This eventually led the band to break up for some time, to eventually reunite, along with MacGowan, in the early 2000s, and start performing together around the UK and Ireland and played some shows around Europe and the US as well. Their last performance together took place in Hyde Park in 2014, after which the band dissolved once again.

The Pogues have announced that the upcoming tour will see all the songs from “Rum Sodomy and The Lash” performed, along with some other ones.

Tickets will be available on pre-sale on November 20 if fans sign up here before 5 pm on November 19. General tickets will instead be available on Friday November 22 at 9:30 am.

Katy Perry recently released her album “143” which peaked at number six on UK charts. The album contained the singles “Woman’s World” and “Lifetimes” which failed to achieve high positions in the charts, unlike Perry’s previous songs. “Woman’s World” received negative reviews from critics and fans alike, who criticized the shallow feminist message of the song. Overall “143” failed to reach Perry’s previous levels of fame. In fact, she has five number one songs on UK charts and two number one albums. Her albums “Prism” and “Teenage Dream”, released in 2013 and 2010, both spent a week at number one in the UK and contained iconic singles such as “Teenage Dream”, “The One That Got Away”, “Roar” and “Firework”. Her earlier songs defined a generation, with music videos reaching 4 billion views. Perry has toured across Europe multiple times throughout her career. First playing in small venues like Water Rats and Scala. She also played at King Charles’s coronation, in Windsor, performing her hit songs “Roar” and “Firework”. Because she started playing in such small venues, Perry decided that this tour should do something to preserve those places that, every year, contribute to giving places to smaller artists to perform and to begin their rise to fame. The singer in fact announced that, for every ticket sold, £1 will go directly to the support of grassroots venues. Perry is set to hold Christmas performances in multiple places this upcoming December. Besides New York and Philadelphia, she will be taking part to London’s Capital Jingle Ball on the 12 of December, alongside Perrie Edwards, Coldplay and many more exciting acts.

Public Image Ltd. (PiL) is set to return to the stage in 2025 with a major UK and Ireland tour, marking their first tour since 2023. Named “This Is Not The Last Tour,” it includes 24 confirmed dates, with more sure to be announced, and a single European stop at Spain’s Azkena Rock Festival.

The tour will span across the UK and Ireland, visiting cities and venues often overlooked by other acts to bring PiL’s unique sound to fans old and new. Kicking off in June, the tour is planned to last until early August, although the new dates could take them later into the year.

Frontman, and former Sex Pistol, John Lydon previously hinted that PiL’s 2023 tour might be their last, following a period of personal loss. In April 2023, Lydon’s wife, Nora Forster, passed away after a five-year battle with Alzheimer’s. Later that year, his manager and childhood friend, John “Rambo” Stevens, died suddenly after the last PiL tour in December.

In spring 2024, Lydon embarked upon a spoken word tour across the UK, where he shared stories and reflections with fans. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with many urging him to return with PiL. He shared, “People were so overwhelmingly positive, and they asked me to tour PiL again… I couldn’t just stay on my sofa and not tour – tempting though that obviously is.”

Founded in 1978, PiL emerged as a major force in post-punk, pushing boundaries with their experimental mix of punk, dub, and rock. Formed after Lydon left The Sex Pistols, it was an outlet for him to explore music that his previous band wouldn’t have allowed him to. Their work has influenced alternative music through artists such as U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Massive Attack.

While the full setlist hasn’t been disclosed, fans can expect a mix of PiL classics. Songs such as ‘This Is Not a Love Song’, ‘Public Image’, ‘Rise’, and ‘Death Disco’ were all staples of PiL shows of the past, and it’s difficult to imagine a show without them.

The “This Is Not The Last Tour” will play at smaller venues, with some notable omissions. There are no dates in Manchester or Liverpool, Scotland, or Leeds, which has left some fans voicing their frustrations. On the other hand, the punk-legend will be delivering his set to crowds who are often forgotten about by major acts.

With a strong lineup of dates, “This Is Not The Last Tour” is set to bring PiL’s genre-blending sound and defiant spirit back to the stage, allowing fans an intimate experience with one of alternative music’s most influential artists. Tickets will go on general sale at 10am on Friday, November 15, but if you just can’t wait, here’s a performance from 1983 at the legendary Rockpalast!
