Turnstile formed as a hardcore punk band in Baltimore, Maryland in 2010, originally releasing heavy, energetic music to mosh to – but it all changed with 2021 album ‘Glow On’, which eschewed hardcore conventions and instead dove into dreamy pop, shoegaze and rock and roll. While Ebert’s chugging riffs were always a big part of their sound, his melodic leads and solos on ‘Glow On’ became a defining feature that set them apart from the pack.

He parted ways with the band in 2022, following a live absence that saw session guitarist Greg Cerwonka fill his vacancy for dates including their manic set on Glastonbury’s (then-named) John Peel Stage. After his exit, rhythm guitarist Pat McCrory took the reins, and the group went on to release three-time Grammy-winning ‘Never Enough’ in 2025, which was lighter on guitar solos but far denser in its melodic elements and commercialised sheen.

Since his departure, Ebert formed new band The S.E.T., (The Self-Evident Truth), in 2025. The band released one single ‘T.M.T.’, marking a strong return to a hardcore template, with their debut EP ‘Self Evident Truth’ on the way for early March. However, Ebert was then also forced out of The S.E.T. in February of this year. This was allegedly down to a string of attacks he aimed at Turnstile, accusing them of mishandling the takings from a financial benefit gig.

He has repeatedly harassed his old band over various issues in recent times, including accusing the members of being disingenuous over their stance against the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE) during their controversial activity in US cities. In a deleted post on Instagram, he claimed “No one in Turnstile cares at all about ethics or social issues in general, they’re just pandering to their audience.” Ebert further alleges Turnstile drummer Daniel Fang took out a restraining order against him following his exit from the group.

Music news site Lambgoat were the first to report that an arrest warrant was filed on Tuesday the 31st of March in Montgomery County for Brady O’Brien Ebert. ThePRP also published the Montgomery County arrest warrants database, where you can see one Brady O’Brien Ebert of Silver Springs, Maryland, and his charge of attempted second degree murder. A further charge of first degree assault is also being pressed over the incident which allegedly occurred on Sunday the 29th of March. According to Lambgoat, the arrest warrant was issued on Monday the 30th, with Ebert being held without bond since his arrest.

Ebert, aged 33, made his initial court appearance yesterday, Wednesday the 1st of April, with a further hearing due to take place today to discuss the terms of any bail or bond conditions.

Baltimore’s Turnstile have enjoyed a rather quick ascent to popularity in the last few years. Originally a fairly innovative hardcore punk band, the group saw their name break out from the scene with the monumental success from 2021 third album ‘Glow On’. On the release they experimented with shoegaze-esque guitar effects, dreamy pop synthesisers and major-label production quality, while still retaining a punk edge to the compositions.

They pushed this sound further on 2025’s ‘Never Enough’, with the atmospheric elements dialled up to 11. The album generated an unmissable buzz online, with fans declaring a “Turnstile Summer” due to its feel-good sound and popular appeal. The reach was so broad that it saw the band perform on Jimmy Fallon’s late night talk-show, while also raking in industry plaudits. ‘Never Enough’ was nominated for five Grammys this year, making Turnstile the first band to be considered for all three genres of rock, metal and alternative music. In the ceremony at the start of February, it won for Best Rock Album, and the LP’s heaviest cut ‘Birds’ won Best Metal Performance. Additionally, they were nominated for International Group of the Year at this weekend’s BRIT Awards, narrowly losing out to fellow US band Geese.

After attending the BRITs in Manchester last Saturday, Turnstile’s debut visit to Australian radio broadcaster Triple J was uploaded this morning. Their “Like A Version” show typically brings bands into their studio to perform one of their own songs as well as a cover of another artist in their style. These live cover versions tend to be the main attraction, having drawn wildly different sounds to originals, such as Billie Eillish’s acoustic take on Michael Jackson’s ‘Bad’ and Royal Otis’ viral indie reworking of Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s ‘Murder On The Dancefloor’.

For Turnstile’s appearance, they elected to rip through a wild playthrough of track ‘Sunshower’ taken from ‘Never Enough’, and an ambient, impassioned cover of The Stone Roses’ ‘I Wanna Be Adored’. Though the “Madchester” indie-rock band only released two albums in their careers, debut full-length ‘The Stone Roses’ has become a timeless classic and a defining example of Manchester’s musical exploits. Turnstile’s reimagining utilises their arsenal of guitar pedals and soaring vocals to create a very modern, clean ballad in place of the original’s brooding, rockier sound.

On the 25th of November 2025, The Stone Roses’ bassist for both albums, Gary ‘Mani’ Mounfield passed away aged 63. Well-regarded as both a musician and a personality, his passing was mourned by many around the world, with his funeral becoming an occasion unifying many of Manchester’s musical icons.

In an accompanying interview posted by Triple J, frontman Brendan Yates explains ‘I Wanna Be Adored’ is “one of my favourite songs of all time. It’s unconventional and simple, and just very beautiful.” Guitarist Meg Mills, who joined the US band as their only British member in 2025, then speaks on their reasoning for selecting the song – “with the passing of Mani it felt like a really appropriate time to kind of like, pay homage to him. Definitely, as a Brit, Stone Roses were one of those bands that every kid that had any inkling towards anything alternative just knew from such an early age, just such an iconic band.” The cover was promoted on the band’s official Instagram account with the caption “RIP Mani”.

Turnstile brought their spectacular live show to the UK last year for both Glastonbury Festival and London’s Outbreak Festival, before capping the year off with their ‘Never Enough’ tour of Europe. This August they return with a set at London’s All Points East event on the 28th, as well as a special one-off solo show at The Piece Hall in Halifax on the 26th, with tickets available here. The Piece Hall in West Yorkshire has already lined up a busy summer calendar. Now with 41 acts on the lineup, the TK Maxx Live at the Piece Hall Summer series will be one of the largest outdoor gig series in the UK.

Official Charts reported that Nicky Chance-Thompson MBE DL FRSA, CEO of The Piece Hall Trust said: ‘2026 will see Turnstile playing at some of the world’s most iconic festivals and then here in Halifax at UK’s most iconic heritage venue.’ He also mentioned that ‘knowing how passionate our rock and metal community is, this gig will be off the scale – truly unmissable.’

The Baltimore group took home two Grammys this year: Best Rock Album for ‘Never Enough’ and Best Metal Performance for ‘Birds.’ Beginning as a hardcore punk group in 2010, the band has seen many iterations. But in 2021, their third album ‘Glow On’ saw them achieve breakthrough fame. 2025’s ‘’Never Enough’ peaked at 11 on the UK Albums Chart and Number 1 on the UK Rock & Metal Albums Chart ahead of its Grammy success. The band are also up for International Group of the Year at the 2026 BRIT Awards this weekend.

But, the newfound fame has not changed the band. Mostly, the members remain in North Baltimore where they began. They stay because the hardcore, heavy music scene which the band sprung from still thrives there. But, in 2025 lead singer Brendan Yates told Pitchfork, the success of ‘Glow On’ had changed their lives, in that they were finally able to not worry about their ‘collective survival outside of music.’ Another change Yates mentions is the ‘ability to play the main stage’ as well as the band’s visibility, noting how they have gone from playing in the back parking lot of festivals to thousands of fans.

This August, they will play to 6,000 fans at The Piece Hall. Then later that week they will head to London’s Victoria Park to support Tyler, The Creator at All Points East on Friday August 28. These UK appearances mark the continuation of an exciting chapter in Turnstile’s 15 year grind toward major success.

The festival will begin with a one-day event in London on June 13, 2025, at Victoria Park, marking the first time Outbreak has come to the capital. Following this, the traditional two-day festival will take place at the Bowlers Exhibition Centre in Manchester on June 14-15, 2025​. The lineups for London and Manchester will slightly differ, reflecting a diverse mix of hardcore, punk, and alternative artists​. Aside from the main headliners, names like Danny Brown, Speed, and Fleshwater are also a part of the initial line-up released.

Knocked Loose is a hardcore band from Oldham County, Kentucky, known for their raw, aggressive sound and emotionally charged lyrics. Their music blends ferocious riffs, breakdowns, and intense vocal delivery. The band has built a reputation for high-energy live performances and is a regular at major festivals like Coachella. Their song ‘Suffocate’ featuring Poppy, has earned a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance. This is their first Grammy nomination and reflects the band’s growing influence in the hardcore and metal scenes.
The Pennsylvania-born alternative star Alex G blends genres like indie rock, folk, and experimental pop. Critics have compared him to Elliott Smith for his emotionally charged songwriting and to lo-fi pioneers for his home-recording ethos. Alex G’s song ‘Immunity‘, from his 2022 album ‘God Save the Animals‘, explores complex themes of addiction, personal struggles, and the intertwined dynamics of love. The New York-based band Momma, which often supports Alex G on tour, will also perform at The Outbreak Festival 2025.Tickets for both locations will go on sale starting November 29, 2024, with pre-sale options available for early sign-ups​. They have just announced a rescheduling of said gig, which has been pushed back to the 15th August at the London, Brixton Academy. Consecutively, they will be playing in Manchester the following day at the Victoria Warehouse.

The last time the band set foot in the UK was last July at the Cheltenham festival, 2000 Trees. Their live performances have made quite a name for themselves through an invigorating energy brought to the stage by the band members. The barrier breaking music speaks for itself within a youthful punk band. Not to mention the liberty they transmit to the audience when they welcome their fans to jump on stage to dive headfirst into a swarming moshpit. Who would want to miss that.

Great success has come to kindly greet them since they released their latest album GLOW ON in 2021. It is their third full length studio album, which has proved to be the most successful, landing them top venue and sold-out shows around the globe. A much awaited response from a boundaryless and excavating band. “I think that there’s never really a plan set in place that has the potential to be disrupted if we wake up one morning and want to try something else. We try to never really apply too much structure to it, so it feels as boundless as it possibly can” they mention in an interview.

The Brixton Academy has been shut down ever since the fatal crowd crush during Asake’s gig on the 15th December. In order for the venue to unmuddle the circumstances, to create a safer environment for future events, Brixton Academy had no other choice other than to shut down for three months. A number of artists have had to adapt to the consequences and relocate or reschedule their shows to another time and place, including Turnstile. The venue has been shut voluntarily until April and still awaits an official date for it’s reopening.

Luckily, the punk band have managed to pull through with alternative dates and will be bringing their live sorcery back to the UK. Tickets for both gigs are now available to fetch online.

With exactly 100 days until the festival takes place, tickets for the event are running a little thin. Discounted early bird, and super early bird tickets have long since sold out. But what few tickets remain for the standard pricing are still available. You can look into tickets here. In a statement released recently, festival organiser and booker James Scarlett said, “There is a lot to be excited about at Trees this year,” adding, “Particular highlights for me are Twin Atlantic doing a special forest acoustic set, the Xcerts headlining Wednesday night in the Forest with a full on rock set and just generally watching the best up & coming rock acts in the world (Cassyette, Salem, GIRLI etc etc etc). I can’t wait!”

 Creeper vocalist Will Gould explained in an interview with NME, the importance of 2000trees for up and coming acts, “In some ways, festivals like 2000 Trees are more important because they highlight loads of smaller up and coming acts that are yet to break through. If you walk around that field, you will find your new favourite band. Those smaller festivals give younger acts the chance to play alongside their heroes and get a sense of what it even means to play a festival. Last years edition of the 2000Trees Festival had been postponed due to ongoing Covid-19 issues as bands from outside the UK were not able to travel. Around 20 headliners bands couldn’t play this year including Jimmy Eats World & Thrice, Young Guns and The Get Up Kids. So just to keep thing ticking along, 2000trees joined forces with ArcTanGent at the end of last August, and put up a special replacement event in Bristol. They ran live gigs for 2 days and both announced a comeback for this year’s festivals edition.

The Baltimore-based hardcore band on the release of the new album and follow up to their previous two records: 2018’s Time & Space and their 2015 debut Nonstop Feeling are currently on tour in the US.

On the release of the album last month via Roadrunner August 27. MXDWN wrote “Glow On shifts the bar of alt-rock to a new field, experimenting with an unconventional blend of sounds that reach a dreamy duality between tranquility and rage. The balance between sugary and jarring is the musical equivalent of pop rock candy, a crackling explosion of sugary bliss for the ears.”

Bassist Franz Lyons said to NME of the band’s latest album “You really gotta see it live to get it.” Whilst frontman Brendan Yates commented on the return to touring “The most amazing thing is being able to see the songs come to life, and then exchange with other people that are in a room with you, and experience it together.”

The European dates are set to begin in early February with a show in London at the Kentish Town Forum. They’ll then head to the continent for gigs in Berlin, Hamburg and more, with the tour wrapping up in Hasselt, Belgium in mid-February.
