After a career full of commercial success the group went on an indefinite hiatus in 2011, the band made headlines last month when they confirmed their reformation. To further cement their return, the group released their comeback single “Charmer”, the track dropped on 19th May 2022 via record label Xploded and marks their first single release in eleven years. The trio’s last single “Morning Star” was released in 2011, the track dropped via digital platforms shortly after the announcement of their hiatus. The band’s new single “Charmer” was written by the group, Junior Edwards and the track’s producer Rymez, after its premiere on BBC Radio 1Xtra the new song was then made available across all major streaming platforms.

Formed in London’s musical mecca Camden Town, the group first rose to fame with the release of their second studio album Against All Odds. The album was released on 16th November 2009 via record label All Around the World and reached number 6 on the UK album charts. Within the same year, the group won Best UK act at the renowned MOBO Awards, two years prior N-Dubz won the MOBO award for Best UK Newcomer. The band’s popularity increased after they collaborated with British rapper Tinchy Stryder, the group appeared as a featured artist on the chart-topping single “Number 1”.

“Charmer” has already enjoyed great commercial success and has secured a spot within the official top 40 UK single charts, the new track is currently sitting at number 32. Since the news of their reformation the trio consisting of bandmembers Tulisa, Dappy and Frazer have enjoyed a resurgence of interest in their back catalogue. The group’s compilation release, Greatest Hits, has placed within this week’s Official UK album charts top 100. Released in 2011 via Universal and Island Records, the album has placed at number 76 on the UK album charts.

If you ever find yourself thinking back on the noughties, captured with a nostalgic glow of cheesy music videos and pop-tunes soon to be made fodder for the meme culture of today, you might find yourself wondering how it ever got away from us. Luckily for you though, it seems some parts of the past have managed to keep relevant to today. As we’ve seen with groups such as Spice Girls, another favourite group from the past are now taking their chances in the 2020s.

Hip hop group N-Dubz, made of Tulisa, Dappy and Fazer, were making their hits throughout the 2006-2011 period, with songs like “Playing With Fire” and “I Need You” amounting to tens of millions of views on YouTube. Despite having been apart for over ten years (splitting back in 2011) they officially announced a special reunion yesterday on Instagram.

The post features a video of the band landing from a helicopter before a black screen announces their upcoming single for this Thursday (titled “Charmer“), as well as a UK arena tour set for November.

The new single was written by the group, and produced by Rymez (known for working with artists such as D Block Europe, Stefflon Don and Adekunle Gold). BBC 1 Xtra will have the privilege of premiering the song on Thursday, so you can stay in tune for that via this link.

As for the live shows, it’s been called their Back to the Future Tour, dates for which you can see at the end down below. Finally all Tulisa, Dappy and Fazer are all onboard and the music they have recorded is genuinely some of their best yet”.

As for the tour, that’s “going to be massive. They have seen all the success other groups have enjoyed coming back and want a piece of the action”.

Tulisa Contostavlos has issued a second apology to Misha B following claims she had made about facing discrimination while being a contestant on season 8 in 2011. The apology comes in the form of an Instagram post after her initial response was seen as defensive. Tulisa admitted that her first response was less about Misha and more about her own emotions after receiving death threats.

In the statement Tulisa said; “I fully acknowledge the pain I caused & fully accept people should be angry about it. I can state again there was nothing racial in my thought process. When I referred to Misha as being feisty & competitive that was a reflection of myself because I saw myself in Misha.” She continued by saying “However, I totally understand that it made Misha feel a certain way, as a young black girl hearing it from a young white girl on a huge platform, living in the oppressed society we do, full of racial slurs and undertones, not knowing my thought process.”

She defended her actions by stating that when another contestant had come to her crying about Misha’s actions, she went into fight mode and decided to call her out on air. “I ran out there thinking, I’m doing the right thing, I have to call her out.”

Misha B, full name, Misha Byran, spoke out recently on Instagram live about the ‘bully’ label the X Factor painted her with while she was on the show, perpetuating the ‘angry black woman’ narrative. Tulisa called her out live on the air and said she was making mean comments to other contestants backstage, which was swiftly backed up by fellow judge Louis Walsh.

Misha revealed that she was inspired to speak out about this because of the Black Lives Matter Movement, saying “Seeing the continuous mistreatment of my brothers and sisters all around the world has reawakened the PTSD that I have worked tirelessly to uproot and I know I do not stand alone on this.” She spoke honestly about what she describes as the most painful experience of her life; “They saw an opportunity to tear down a black girl that came from a broken home and worked together to sabotage my career by orchestrating lies upon lies.”

However, Misha was not impressed by Tulisa’s statement.
