This announcement builds on the festival’s first announcement back in November. Despite the numerous additions to the lineup, the headliners remain unchanged. Nothing But Thieves will be performing their only UK show of the year, Bloc Party will be playing their iconic 2005 album, ‘Silent Alarm’ in full, and Kasabian and Courteeners complete the headline acts. Announced in the first wave were also variety acts such as Mr Motivator, Barioke and the Oxford Symphony Orchestra, all of whom are returning from the 2024 iteration.  

With the new additions, the 2025 lineup now consists of 87 musical/variety performers, and 16 comedy acts. This is significantly less than last year where they had more than 130 performers and 19 comedy acts. The announcement suggested that more artists would be announced between now and July, and organisers have yet to announce all of the stage splits. One X user queried whether Red Rum Club would be appearing after they were included on the festival’s official 2025 Spotify playlist, though no trace of the inclusion can be found now.

One of the standout acts from the second wave is Fish56Octagon, a DJ with over 1 million followers across Instagram and TikTok. Often donning his dressing gown and eating Weetabix, the former marketer grew into a viral sensation by showcasing his extensive dance and electronic record collection, and has since played Glastonbury, Creamfields, and Boomtown, as well as touring the UK, Australia and New Zealand.

Response to the headliners has been mixed; however the sub-headliners have drawn significant interest, with Redditors looking forward to sets by Sports Team, Hard Life and Maximo Park. The Slates will also be joining the festival for the second year in a row, and their announcement had plenty of fans excited, with one X user saying, “Cracking news guys! Last year was incredible.”

Truck Festival has an average attendance of 20-25,000, drawing in crowds from around the South East. Along with the announcement of the additional artists, Truck Festival also took to social media to announce that they had fewer than 200 tickets left, and despite the indifference shown by some toward the headline acts, a sell out seems likely.

The festival started in 1998 after the organisers felt that most major UK festivals had grown too mainstream. Like Glastonbury, the festival takes place on a working farm, limiting the size and any plans for expansion. The first year saw eight acts take to the only stage at the festival, though it had expanded by the second year, now featuring two stages and being held across two days. 1999 had 38 acts and tickets cost just £5, compared to this years £200+.

Taking place across the same weekend as Tramlines and Latitude Festival, Truck Festival will be hoping to provide a unique experience, blending rock, indie, electronic and comedy acts to an audience just as unique. Whether further surprises regarding the lineup are in store or not, anybody wanting to attend will need to act quickly to secure tickets.

Despite the impromptu nature of the set, Turner played to a capacity crowd on the V&V stage, a venue designed to showcase emerging UK talent. Rising Chester DIY indie three-piece Peaness topped the bill on the stage, while Turner’s set was teased as a ‘mystery headliner’.

Turner has made several surprise appearances at Truck Festival in previous years, leading one commentor to remark on social media site X that “Truck Festival wouldn’t be Truck Festival without Frank Turner turning up at some point during the weekend – 10/10 set and 10/10 weekend.”

Turner has been touring in support of his tenth studio album Undefeated, which was released in May, which Kerrang described as “a jovial blast of defiance” and which The Indy Review praised as promising unforgettable live performances.

“Any Frank Turner fan is aware of his dedication to the live show. He counts every show he’s ever performed (he’s up in the high two thousands now) and his band is simply lights out,” writes Jared Eichmann of The Indy Review about Undefeated.

“My entire listen was met with thoughts like ‘this will be a fantastic live performance.’ And with Frank Turner that is almost just as important as the recording itself,” Eichmann adds.

Turner described his recent run of UK shows in mostly smaller venues as an “underplay” and indicated that a “proper UK tour” is coming next year. Before that, however, Turner hopes to reach what he admits is a long-awaited milestone of his 3,000^th solo live show. Support acts are expected to include Britpunk duo the Meffs and Manchester indie outfit Lottery Winners.

“With this album, the plan is to tour the living crap out of it, and that will involve going to territories I’ve not been to before” Turner said in an interview last week. “Hopefully [the 3,000^th show] will be in Japan next year.”

Elsewhere at Truck Festival, Isle of Wight duo Wet Leg made waves with their first UK headline set, which included a cover of Charli XCX’s ‘360’. Around 25,000 music fans descended upon Hill Farm in Oxfordshire for the festival, which saw post-punk group IDLES close the first night. Also among the big names leading the line-up were Jamie T, The Kooks, and The Streets.

“We can’t believe it’s been a year already, but being back in the fields at Hill Farm is an amazing feeling,” Truck Festival Organisers said.

“This year’s Truck feels like a special one, whether it’s one of the most heavily requested headliners from fans in Jamie T finally topping the bill, or a historic first UK festival headline set from Wet Leg alongside some unmissable favourites across the weekend. We’ve worked year-round to make Truck 2024 one for the ages.”

The anticipation is particularly high for Jamie T, who organisers claim is “one of the most requested headliners in Truck Festival history.” Alongside this, Wet Leg, the Brit Award-winning “Best New Artist” of 2023, will be making their UK festival headline debut. Meanwhile, the Thursday night slot is reserved for the energetic and politically charged IDLES, who are expected to showcase tracks from their upcoming album ‘TANGK,’ set to be released on February 16, read more about ‘TANGK’ here. The festival’s grand finale will be brought by The Streets, alias Mike Skinner, who released the critically acclaimed album ‘The Darker The Shadow, The Brighter The Light’ last year.

The diverse lineup also includes renowned acts such as The Kooks, Declan McKenna, Yard Act, Holly Humberstone, The Magic Gang, and English Teacher, along with emerging talents like Willie J Healey. Sea Girls, Black Honey, Peace, The Snuts, Sundara Karma, with many more set to grace the stages at Hill Farm. The Magic Gang’s presence in the Truck 2024 lineup has sparked speculation, given their recent breakup announcement and plans for a farewell tour. Despite confirming their final show, it remains unclear if the band will perform at the festival.

Truck Festival’s Head Of Marketing, Sam Harris, expressed his enthusiasm for the lineup, stating, “Truck 2024 is a landmark year for us, and we can’t wait to see everyone there!” Harris added, “Whether it’s discovering new favourites, diving into mosh-pits, or enjoying the amazing comedy and family entertainment on offer – Truck 2024 promises to be a special weekend.”

A ticket pre-sale is scheduled for 18:00 GMT on Thursday (January 25) with general sales opening at 10:00 on Friday (January 26). Tickets start at £140 for the weekend, with an early-bird option priced at £175, allowing entry on Thursday to catch the electrifying performance by IDLES. Both pay-in-full and payment plan options are available. Truck Festival, conceived by brothers Robin and Joe Bennett in 1998, has come a long way from its humble beginnings with an actual truck as the stage. More acts are expected to be announced in the coming weeks, building on the success of last year’s headliners Royal Blood, Alt-J, Two Door Cinema Club, and The Wombats. Royal Blood were also announced as one of the headliners for the Y Not Festival not long ago. This upcoming summer, they will be headlining Truck Festival alongside Alt-J, Two Door Cinema Club, The Wombats and Kendal Calling 2023 at the Lake District. They will also accompany Muse on their UK and European Tour, commencing on May 27 at Plymouth.

In the Truck Festival which takes place on July 21-23, Royal Blood expressed their thoughts about their headlining position. They said, “After being booked to play in 2021, we can’t wait to finally head to Oxfordshire and headline Truck Festival this summer! Expect a party.” 

Frontman and vocalist, Mike Kerr spoke to NME last year about their leading single, Honeybrains, which Kerr described as “a snapshot of right now.” including more “inclusive” music that would follow. He said to NME, “Even with “Typhoons” (2021 album), which was more of a departure than anything we’d done before, it’s never a designed or premeditated idea. We just follow what we’re feeling at the time. Having just made that record, we felt the most free, secure and unlimited. No thought went into this track- in the best possible way! I wasn’t writing for any reason. I wasn’t trying to write a single or the next Royal Blood song; I was just making music.”

The duo consists of bassist and vocalist, Mike Kerr and drummer, Ben Thatcher formed in 2013. They are known for their powerful and high-energy dynamics in most live performances, not to mention the electric drums Ben uses can change into different snare sounds, once the snare is hit. Their style consists of various combinations of punk, blues and hard rock that create a unique and electrifying musical experience.

Their self-titled debut album in 2014 rose to recognition, reaching number one on the UK album charts. Following up on their second album, How Did We Get So Dark? released in 2017 also received the widespread recognition that it truly deserved.

The main characteristics of their performance include a heavy bassline and beating drums which combine their uniqueness for a massive sound for their two-piece lineup. Overall, their neverending energy in live performances has been proven to be one of the most exciting acts ever, plus they have been touring extensively across the UK and Europe, as well as performing at very massive festivals like Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds.

deep tan are without a doubt one of the coolest bands on the scene right now and their star is in the ascendency. Fresh off the back of some very strong singles (‘camelot’ and ‘deep fake’), they’re being booked for festivals up and down the country as well as supporting Leeds post-punkers, Yard Act for a leg of their 2022 UK tour.

The track itself lays melodic vocals over a brilliantly catchy beat. Add in the math-rock style guitar and deep tan are really on to a winner here. If this is an indication of what’s to come, then ‘creeping speedwells’ is due to be a real treat. The cut has already picked up traction, earning itself a spin on Steve Lamacq’s BBC 6 Music show last night.

The trio are set to play a whole host of UK festivals, including Truck Fest, Lets Get Together and The Manchester Psych Fest: they are due to share the stage with a number of post-punk big hitters like IDLES, Do Nothing, Billy Nomates and many more.

deep tan have a gig scheduled at the legendary Windmill in Brixton – the venue is famous for incubating the scene that helped bands like Black Midi, Squid and Black Country, New Road go from cult heroes to big hitters in the indie scene. Their brand of angular rock, combined with the Poly-Styrene attitude is sure to win over fans across the post-punk-revival scene that is so prevalent right now.

Their striking style and sound draws inevitable comparisons to Bowie, Robert Smith and Bolan. deep tan have the tunes and the talent to back these comparisons up – they’re bound to go from strength to strength and are one to watch for the future.

The famous five-piece will headline Ally Pally for the second time in their career on April 14th 2018. The North London venue has a 10,000 people capacity. This isn’t the first time the band will have played this capacity in a venue however as still early on in their career in 2011, The Vaccines performed as a support act for the Arctic Monkeys in a 10,000-capacity tent venue at Don Valley Stadium in Sheffield, UK.

The Vaccines formed back in 2010 and consists of Justin Hayward-Young (lead vocals, guitar), Freddie Cowan (lead guitar, vocals), Árni Árnason (bass, vocals) and Pete Robertson (drums, vocals). After Robertson’s departure in 2016, keyboardist Tim Lanham and drummer Yoann Intonti were promoted from touring musicians to official band members. They blew up after their first release of singles ‘If You Wanna’ and ‘Wreckin Bar (Ra Ra Ra)’, which gave great anticipation for their debut album What Did You expect From The Vaccines in 2011. This was a great year for the Columbia Records signed band, earning them BBC’s Sound of 2011, appearing on the cover of NME for the first time, and being nominated for an MTV Award—’Best New Band of 2011’—and a Critics’ Choice Brit Award.
They went onto release three more albums since then, Come of Age in 2012, Melody Calling EP in 2013 and English Graffitti in 2015, and rounded up a huge trail of success to follow.

The band told NME  that they are ‘nearly finished’ writing album No.4, revealing that it will be ‘energetic’ and ‘all about sex and love’. Following the departure of drummer Pete Robertson earlier this year, front man Justin Hayward-Young also said “We’re in the studio every day playing together, so it feels a lot more like a band again, which maybe English Graffiti stopped slightly. I guess it replenishes some of that spirit and that energy of the first record.”

When asked about a potential release date for their fourth album, Young said: “We’re kind of wrapping up the writing now, then we want to record it in the new year, definitely next year, 100%. 200%.”

The Vaccines debuted some of their new music at Truck Festival 2017, that took place from 21-23 July. They had a headline slot on the Sunday, closing the Oxford festival following fellow headline slots from Franz Ferdinand and The Libertines on the Friday and Saturday night respectively.
