TRSNMT festival is looking into potentially changing stage times for their 2026 edition, in order to allow attendees to watch Scotland’s World Cup games. The Scottish festival will return to Glasgow Green for next year’s edition, and run from June 19 to June 21. The first set of artists for the festival were announced last month, with artists including Richard Ashcroft, Kasabian, Lewis Capaldi, and Wolf Alice.

Launched in 2017, the festival attracts tens of thousands of fans each summer. It showcases a mix of international headliners and popular UK artists, spanning genres such as indie, rock, pop, hip-hop, and electronic music. With its city-centre location, energetic crowds, and vibrant atmosphere, TRNSMT is known for bringing live music, Scottish identity, and festival excitement together in one iconic setting.

On November 18, the Scotland men’s football team won against Denmark to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, hosted jointly between the USA, Canada, and Mexico next summer. It is the first time Scotland will be competing in the tournament since 1998.

There is a potential clash between one of the festival’s headline slots and Scotland’s second group game against Morocco on June 19. According to a report by the BBC, a headliner would typically play from 9:30pm – 11pm. The match with Morocco begins at 11pm, meaning there may be some overlap between that day’s headliner, Richard Ashcroft, and the game’s kick-off.

Festival director, DF Concert’s Geoff Ellis, said to BBC News, “Obviously it’s very early days as the World Cup and TRNSMT are still over six months away. As you would expect there is flexibility in timings and we will be ensuring that music fans can enjoy the TRNSMT line up as well as watching Scotland’s second game on the road to bringing the World Cup home to the birthplace of football.”

Sources have said that promoters are interested in showing the game at Glasgow Green once the day’s acts had finished. The success of UK teams at international football tournaments has seen some clash with summer music festivals, with Glastonbury contending with numerous England games over the years.

In 2014, festival organiser Emily Eavis said they couldn’t show that year’s World Cup matches because it wasn’t practical, and the event is about music, not football. Last summer, the Worthy Farm event repeated its decision for the 2024 European Championships.

England’s men’s team faced Slovakia in the round of 16 on the Sunday of that year’s festival, and festival-goers reportedly went to extreme lengths to catch the action. Last year at Glastonbury, former One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson brought a television along to watch England’s football team play against Slovakia in the European Championships.

Manchester indie band Courteeners have announced that they will be releasing a seventh studio album titled ‘Pink Cactus Cafe’. To preview their upcoming album the band released the lead single ‘Solitude Of The Night Bus’ which came with an accompanying video. The band’s upcoming album is set to be released on the 25th of October via Ignition.

The first single from the album, ‘Solitude Of The Night Bus’ has been released with a music video to go with it directed by Dom Foster. The video follows Courteeners frontman Liam Fray on the number 17 bus going on a cosmic journey as the artwork for ‘Pink Cactus Cafe’ coming to life around him during the bus journey.

The band originally formed in Manchester in the early 2000s and this will mark their first album in over four years with the band’s last album ‘More. Again. Forever.’ being released in January 2020.

Speaking in a press release about the song, singer Liam Fray said that “This came at a time of real questioning. Things weren’t going particularly well. No confidence. No direction. I think that’s why – whisper it – it’s on the fun side. This is the new us. I’d previously worked with Ola [Modupe-Ojo] on ‘Hanging Off Your Cloud’ and, like then, there was just a magic in the room that was irresistible.”

He continued talking about how his uncle influenced the track: “It’s a summer breeze. But it’s a winter’s night. Either way, sometimes you have to block out the noise. My late Uncle Pat loved a whistle so it’s a bit of a homage to him. Get on the bus; headphones in; go your own way. It’s the feel good, imposter syndrome hit of the summer.”

The upcoming record sees contributions from various friends of the band including Aussie indie band DMAs, Brooke Combe, and Pixey. You can pre-order the albumn in various formats including CD, LP and cassette along with signed albums and heavyweight and various limited edition and coloured vinyls. All vinyl formats come with a bonus track. Pre-order or pre-save ‘Pink Cactus Cafe’ here.

The track listing for ‘Pink Cactus Cafe’ is:

‘Sweet Surrender’ (featuring Brooke Combe)
‘Weekend Shy Of A Feeling’
‘Pink Cactus Cafe’
‘Where Are We Now?’
‘The Beginning Of The End’ (featuring DMA’S)
‘Solitude of the Night Bus’

The Show is the star’s third album, with Horan taking to social media to say, “This album is a piece of work I’m so proud of and now it’s time to pass it over to you to go and make it your own. Thank you so much for being there for me all this time and I can’t wait to share the next couple of years of this new era with you. I’ve missed you all so much. It’s good to be back.”

Horan released the first single, “Heaven,” from the album back in February.

So it would be crazy to ruin that by giving into outside pressures.”

The new album will be just another thing for Horan to take in his stride after an already packed year. Earlier this month, Horan was invited to perform at The White House as part of President Joe Biden’s St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.

Taking to Twitter, Horan said “it’s an honour to be invited and represent my country.“

At Glasgow’s TRNSMT Festival last night (the 9th of July) indie fans were treated to a headline set from the strokes. Yet many have voiced their concerns over the well-being of the band’s frontman Julian Casablancas- whose erratic actions on stage seemed to signify that he was heavily intoxicated.

Though it’s clear that the singer has a deep love for the city of Glasgow, it seems his mind was elsewhere during the show at TRNSMT when he said; “I haven’t been to Glasgow in a long time. I don’t recognise the place.”

He then added; “The Barrowlands where we used to play, I miss that place. I miss being pulled to shreds by the Glasgow crowd. It’s a fun place. My memories of Glasgow… always the most chaotic, violent shows of my life. This is a nice change of pace though. Next time, the Barrowlands.”

The feedback from the gig varies. In a lot of cases, the fans stated that whilst the catchy hits of the indie royalty still sounded great, the periods between each track which saw Casablancas dish out bizarre rants and banter to the attendees were less palatable.

Another Fan also commented that Casablancas; “Did not bother hiding his disdain from the crowd (he called them Glasgow Children’s Choir and said he’d rather be at the Barrowlands)”.

Earlier in the week, Casablancaas received much of the same criticism after the Stroke’s performance at Roskilde Festival in Denmark. According to setlist.fm their set started half an hour behind the allotted schedule and according to fans featured much of the same antics, i.e; “lots of erratic and endless banter from Casablancas”.

Following the rumours that he was inebriated during the show, Casablancas took to Twitter (with a message that has since been deleted) with a statement of his own; “I’m not tuned into Twitter things enough to know what some confused fan thinks or pretends they know,” he wrote, “but I’m fine… far as I know … people been asking me weiiird questionnns [sic] – ahh the dumb side of social media… Lame-Os running around so hard and free.”

On the 8th of July, we sadly saw more of the same, when a woman was pulled from the crowd to join them on stage. Casablancas jested that he has going to head backstage and; “go do some blow”. The woman went on to sing the full six minutes of “Ode To The Mets” while Casablancas was still nowhere to be seen.

TRNSMT Festival 2021 was forced to close its King Tut’s stage because of large crowds which resulted in one member of the audience being stretchered away over the weekend.

Fans were told to stay away from the area on Glasgow Green during Becky Hill‘s headline performance on Saturday (September 11), while screens displayed a message saying that the stage was “full and closed”.

Crowds of people flocked to the popular stage, crammed together to see Becky Hill’s show. A picture from the Daily Record on the scene shows people standing above the crowd by the side of the stage, while others jostle for position.

The singer’s set was said to be delayed by 15 minutes due to crowds descending towards the stage. A TRSMT spokesperson told the Daily Record that medics arrived on the scene to attend to a person who needed help and they had to be stretched away though the injuries weren’t incredibly serious.

The spokesperson said “our first aid team was made aware of an audience member who needed assistance at the King Tut’s Tent. As a precautionary measure, they were transferred by stretcher to the onsite medical area and given time to recover.”

The Scottish festival was rescheduled from July due to concerns around the coronavirus pandemic and was headlined by Liam Gallagher, Courteeners, and The Chemical Brothers. The three-day event also featured performances from Sam Fender, AJ Tracey, Little Simz and Declan McKenna among others.

This year’s festival ran up to its full capacity (50,000 people) after the recent easing of COVID restrictions in Scotland. Although attendees at the festival still had to complete a Lateral Flow Test before arriving at the event despite proof of vaccination not being a condition of entry.

TRNSMT festival is one of many to be cancelled in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. But, organisers have already confirmed that fans will be able to attend next year and revealed the lineup for 2021.

The festival was due to take place from 10th-12th July 2020, with performers such as Sam Fender, Lewis Capaldi, and Rita Ora taking to the stage. Up until recently, TRSNMT was still set to go ahead despite coronavirus concerns. However, on 24th April, the organisers announced that the Scottish lock-down would require the festival to be called off.

The decision was made upon advice from the Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, which stated that when restrictions begin to be lifted, there will be continued social distancing for a least a few months. This means that festivals gathering large numbers of people will not be safe for the foreseeable future.

But, all is not lost, for TRNSMT has already confirmed details of next year’s festival. Bosses wrote to ticket holders to explain “We know that tens of thousands of you bought tickets for TRNSMT 2020 and were looking forward to seeing this year’s line up, so we’ve moved quickly to secure the acts confirmed for 2020, for 2021’s festival!”

We know that tens of thousands of you bought tickets for TRNSMT 2020 and were looking forward to seeing this year’s line up, so we’ve moved quickly to secure the acts confirmed for 2020, for 2021’s festival!
Along with the statement was a video showing the acts, which are almost exactly the same as the original lineup for 2020. Fans can also save their purchased tickets for 2021, and there are still some tickets available on the official website. The festival will take place from 9th-11th July 2021.

The weekend will begin on Friday with headline act The Courteneers, who recently put out their sixth studio album ‘More. Again. Forever’. Also on the main stage will be Ian Brown, Sam Fender, Blossoms, and more, while fans can watch breakthrough artists Joy Crookes and The Ninth Wave on the other two stages. On the second day, Liam Gallagher will headline, supported by Foals, Keane, and AJ Tracy. Finally, the weekend will come to an end with performances from chart sensation Lewis Capaldi, Snow Patrol and Rita Ora. Check out the full lineup below.

Sadly, although the lineup contains most of the artists who were booked to perform on the stage this year, some changes have had to be made. The most notable difference is that British rapper Aitch will no longer appear, which has saddened many fans. Luckily, festival-goers will still be able to watch many of other favourite artists.

TRNSMT began in 2017 after in was announced that T in the Park would not be staged that year. 120,000 people attended over three days, and the festival was named ‘Best New Festival’ at the UK Festival Awards.

A women has been sexually assaulted at TRNSMT Festival, in Glasgow. A 32-year-old women was grabbed by one man and then sexually assaulted by another, which took place on the opening night of the three day festival, which takes place at Glasgow Green.

During the incident the women, who was making her way to the toilets, was grabbed by one man and taken behind the toilet block where she was sexually assaulted by another. The assault took place at 22:00 as she made her way to toilets, which are believed to be located near the main stage. The assault was only stopped when three men walking by, at the time, shouted at the two suspects, who then fled.

The suspects have both been described as white, 6ft tall, of medium build, with dark hair. One was wearing a black T-shirt with a small logo on the front, while the other was wearing a white T-shirt with black writing.

Police are now appealing for information about the incident and are eager to track the three men, who scared off the woman’s attackers, as what they saw could prove “vital” to finding those responsible for the attack.

Speaking about the attack, Detective Sgt, Euan Keil said: “The woman was making her way to the toilets when she was grabbed by one man and pulled to the rear of the toilet block where another man sexually assaulted her. Her attackers fled when they were disturbed by three men who were walking by the area and who shouted at them.

“I don’t think the three men realised what was actually going on or that their intervention probably stopped this attack from escalating. It is important that we trace them as what they saw could prove vital to us catching the two men responsible.”

In a statement, about the incident, TRNSMT said: “We are doing everything possible to help emergency services with their inquiries but our focus at this moment is the wellbeing of the person involved, and we are ensuring that they have all the support that they need.”
