The run, billed as part of his ongoing ‘Love Earth‘ project with Chrome Hearts, had been highlighted as one of the summer’s standout classic-rock tours, with Elvis Costello & The Imposters booked to join as support on selected nights.

News of the cancellation arrived via a brief, personal statement on Young’s official Neil Young Archives website. “I have decided to take a break and will not be touring Europe this time” he wrote, before thanking fans who had already bought tickets and adding, “I’m sorry to let you down, but this is not the time.” He closed the note by stressing his enduring connection to live performance, saying that he loves playing live and being with fans and the Chrome Hearts, and signing off, “LOVE Neil be well”.

No specific reason has been given for the decision, beyond Young’s emphasis that he needs to “take a break” and that 2026 is simply not the right moment for him to undertake a full European tour. In recent years, he has been candid about the physical and emotional toll of touring at his age, previously describing how illness within the band and his own sense of having “hit a wall” led to the cancellation of earlier dates with Crazy Horse. Those experiences appear to inform this latest call, even if he has stopped short of tying the 2026 decision to a particular health issue.

For fans, the announcement is a sharp disappointment, especially after a wave of ticket purchases and travel plans across multiple countries. Promoters have confirmed that all ticket holders will receive full refunds at the point of purchase, softening the financial blow but not the sense of a missed occasion. Still, Young’s message leaves the door open to future appearances, underlining that his passion for live music remains intact even as he steps back from the road, at least for now.

CMAT has announced the cancellation of all her upcoming UK tour dates this October, after being hit with a serious wisdom tooth infection that requires urgent surgery.

The Irish alt‑pop artist, known for her genre‑bending sound and theatrical live shows, was due to kick off her tour this month in support of her third studio release ‘Euro-Country ’which has seen widespread critical praise and strong fan support, even a Mercury Prize nomination.

The cancellation comes at a pivotal time in CMAT’s rise. Off the back of a standout Glastonbury set earlier this summer, she’s continued to build a loyal fanbase, drawing praise for her sharp lyricism, self-aware humour and bold creative direction.

It’s due to this that the timing of the situation is so desperately unfortunate. In a ruthless industry, staying in the spotlight can, at times, be more of a feat than getting there to begin with. CMAT is bubbling on the brink of explosion, making this so untimely.

However, In a statement shared on her social media, CMAT explained that she woke up in severe pain and was rushed into an emergency dental appointment, where she was diagnosed with an infection in both of her lower wisdom teeth. She’s now been advised to have them surgically removed, followed by a two‑week recovery period:

“I currently can’t even open my mouth wide enough to laugh, let alone sing,” she wrote. “I’m devastated.”

The full run of shows has now been pulled, with her team confirming that all ticket holders will either be refunded or given access to rescheduled dates once they’re confirmed.

Despite the abrupt halt, fans have flooded her comments with support, echoing sentiments of care and patience. While the news will come as a disappointment to those who had tickets, many are already expressing hope that the singer takes the time she needs to fully recover.

The artist does seem to be handling the post well despite this. In a hilarious Instagram story displaying her swollen ( and painful looking) injury, the artist played on the lyrics of her hit song ‘Take A Sexy Picture Of Me’.

It was captioned: “I did the butcher, i did the baker, maybe i should have done the f***ing dentist.”

There’s no word yet on when the shows will be rescheduled, but CMAT reassured fans she’s “working hard behind the scenes” to make it happen.

Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry planned to play 12 shows across Europe this coming October and then head to Canada and the US to play 17 shows in 2023, including stops in Washington DC, Toronto, Los Angeles, and New York. These north American dates would have been their first in over a decade, their only performance on the continent coming at 2013’s Coachella festival when they were on tour supporting their eighth album, Anastasis.

The band last played in Europe in the spring of 2019, playing a triumphant sold-out two-legged European tour, which ended with a spectacular show at Athens’ beautiful Odeon of Herodes Atticus Amphitheatre. The pair had initially wanted to return to tour the US and Canada sooner, but the pandemic forced them to change their plans. The ‘Celebration of Life & Works 1980 -2021’ tours were meant to celebrate the Aussies’ three-decade discography. The set list included “The Host Of Seraphim”, “The Carnival Is Over”, and “Yulunga”, some of their most famous and loved songs, up to tracks from 2018’s Dionysus.

Dead Can Dance got its start in Melbourne, forming in 1981. The following year, they moved to London. Through the years, their music has been categorised variously as, Neoclassical dark wave, world, ambient, art rock, avant-garde, gothic rock and post-punk. After splitting up in 1998, they temporarily got back together in 2005 for a global tour and then reformed in 2011 to promote their new album Anastasis.

Their eponymous debut album was released in 1981, All Music saying it was “as goth as it gets”. Their albums weren’t widely available till the early 90s, when their label 4AD made a distribution deal with Warner Bros. Records. The band’s sixth album, Into the Labyrinth, sold 500,000 copies, making them 4AD’s best-selling act. The pairs concerts are legendary, and many songs were only performed live, leading to a healthy bootleg economy. The duo has released two live albums, 1998’s Toward the Within, which had chart success, and 2013’s In Concert. As of now, no other information has been provided about plans to reschedule the 2022 and 2023 dates.

After Red Hot Chili Peppers made headlines only a few weeks ago when their tour support act, east-coast cloud rap legend A$AP Rocky, missed his slot before the band… so decided to go on afterwards instead (essentially crowning himself the headline act for the evening), one would assume that all of the band’s bad luck had run out. Unfortunately for anyone hoping to attend tonight’s Glasgow show at Bellahouston Park, the band has had to cancel their appearance only hours before they were set to go onstage due to illness.

Due to illness RHCP will not be able to perform in Glasgow tonight July 1. We are working on ways to reschedule. Pls hold onto your tickets & wait for an update soon. RHCP love Scotland & are deeply disappointed not to be able to perform the show. Thank you for your understanding pic.twitter.com/eUHEQPypA5

— Red Hot ChiliPeppers (@ChiliPeppers) July 1, 2022

In a statement posted to their socials, the group highlighted their disappointment in the cancellation and the plans for what will happen to fans missing out on their show, “We are working on ways to reschedule. Pls hold onto your tickets & wait for an update soon. RHCP love Scotland & are deeply disappointed not to be able to perform the show. Thank you for your understanding”. Obviously, fans have expressed their disappointment in the update, but in today’s day and age, show cancellations are almost to be expected every once in a while, just keep your fingers crossed.

The tour was set to be one of the band’s most significant as well, the band’s 12th LP, Unlimited Love, acted as a bit of a reunion for the band and die-hard fans alike. With the return of legendary guitarist John Frusciante and even more legendary producer Rick Rubin, this would be the band’s first time with the classic setup since Stadium Arcadium in 2006. The band’s previous guitarist, Josh Klinghoffer, was a top-notch guitarist for the 15 or so years he was able to command the stage, but the return of Frusciante was the injection of excitement the band were long overdue after having a streak of lukewarm albums (in my opinion anyway).

While there is not yet any information on when the rescheduled Bellahouston Park date will land, or if any of the band’s other tour dates have been affected, there are still tickets available to a whole bunch of other shows on the European tour. Now the UK tour has essentially concluded, the band will return to the European festival circuit until the end of the year. You can find full information on the band’s dates here.

Rundle posted a statement on Instagram yesterday (18th of January) announcing the cancellation, saying: “This is not fun for me. This is not fun for you. The tour must be postponed. Tickets are still valid and we will announce new dates soon. Please understand that touring has been my main source of income and that not being able to do this work – going into year three – is less than ideal – It is however logistically impossible to tour right now due to the myriad covid restrictions.”

She added: “I want to thank @swampbooking who have put in more than half a year’s work into the planning of this special tour and who are working very hard on moving it to a later time in the year…I appreciate all the support you have shown me and my new work. I hope that you can understand and that I’ll see you later in the year. Much love, err.” You can read the full statement above.

The initial tour announcement came just a few weeks after the release of Rundle’s fifth studio album, Engine of Hell. The record has been received very well by both fans and critics alike. In a glowing review, Kerrang! said of the record: “This latest release sees the flesh of Emma’s music flayed to its bare bones; every track is a simplistic combination of her voice and either an acoustic guitar or a piano…The lyrics are wrought with dark meaning and somber emotion, and the lack of accompanying instruments makes their impact all the more poignant.”

Anyone who has listened to Rundle’s catalogue can tell you that Engine of Hell is one of her most intimate releases to date. The instrumentals are much more stripped down than usual; typically, Rundle totes an electric guitar both live and in studio, but here, we see frequent use of acoustic guitar and piano. The minimal instrumentation really shines a light on the personal, dark lyrics that Rundle has penned for this record, such as the sombre chorus of “Citadel”; On my way down, most of my life, I was trained how just to lay down, and never ask why, I was trained how, just to stay down, where it’s safe now.” The album can be found on all streaming services, and physical media can be purchased here.

I’m pretty sure everyone has been affected by the touring disaster that was 2020 and 2021, every artist on the planet had their well-laid plans either postponed or cancelled or if you were unlucky maybe even both. What this means is that you’ve got every working mind in the music industry ready to go on tour, new material on the brain, or at home with nothing to do other than write new music. Plans for new tours became almost universal amongst musicians.

This does however raise a few concerns. First of all, the introduction of new COVID-19 restriction could force another situation like what happened earlier in the year. Artists setting themselves up for shows months in advance that either get cancelled or work as socially distanced shows from the get-go. The only issue with this is that, according to Chief Executive of Trade Body UK Music Jamie Njoku-Goodwin, “It just doesn’t work”. Without offering any reason why it just doesn’t work, Njoku-Goodwin did go on to explain, “We’ve been encouraging people to get tested and vaccinated – we want people to know that if they go to a music event, most people are being responsible”. This acting as an alternative to socially distanced shows seems like a logistical nightmare or something that can very easily be fooled. Only time will tell.

2022 now has an absolutely massive back catalogue of pretty much every artist in the zeitgeist at the moment trying to put on a show. Billie Eilish, Coldplay, Dua Lipa, Elton John, Stormzy, Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga, Harry Styles, Olivia Rodrigo and many other massive names are all set to hit the road in the new year. This may sound like good news, but there is now looming speculation that the backlog could cause a shortage in everything required to actually make these shows go ahead; stage equipment, transportation, crew, even venue staff could be a little short. This may prove to be completely unfounded, but it could well happen.

Njoku-Goodwin also mused that “there may be an audience trend where people aren’t wanting to book months ahead but will see how they feel on the day,”. This does seem to be affecting some, as a recent study shows that around 40% of punters actually aren’t arriving at gigs they have tickets to. But other evidence shows quite the contrary as Adele and Sir Elton John’s slots at Hyde Park’s BST Festival sold out in minutes a few months back.

Ignoring the ever-present issue that is the Omicron variant, if things kick back into gear soon London’s O2 Arena will host a total of at least 110 different artists next year. So, get boosted, wear a mask, and these things might actually happen.

Paul Weller, perhaps best-known as the frontman of punk/new-wave band The Jam, has announced that he is cancelling the remaining dates of his current solo UK tour due to a member of his band testing positive for COVID-19.

We are very sorry to announce that due to a band member testing positive for Covid-19, the remaining tour dates (Norwich 3rd Dec / Lincoln 4th Dec / Cambridge 5th Dec) will not be able to take place on their scheduled dates.

— Paul Weller (@paulwellerHQ) December 3, 2021

Weller’s tour began last month at Oxford’s New Theatre, and he has since played shows in Bath, Liverpool, Southampton, Glasgow and other locations. Unfortunately for fans in Norwich, Lincoln and Cambridge, Weller has been forced to cancel these remaining three dates. The cancellation was announced via Weller’s social media, stating: “We are very sorry to announce that due to a band member testing positive for Covid-19, the remaining tour dates (Norwich 3rd Dec / Lincoln 4th Dec / Cambridge 5th Dec) will not be able to take place on their scheduled dates… We are working hard to see if we can reschedule the shows and will share more information on that as soon as we possibly can…This is obviously incredibly disappointing news for not just the fans but Paul and the whole team involved, but we need to follow the guidelines to keep everyone as safe as possible.”

The statement was posted earlier today, and thus far, no further announcements regarding potential rescheduling have been made.

Paul Weller embarked on this recent tour in support of his latest studio album Fat Pop (Volume 1), which was released back in May of this year. This is the sixteenth solo record from the prolific singer-songwriter and has been well-received by fans and critics alike, with NME giving it four out of five stars and saying: “The album is a delight: a generous collection of expertly crafted pop tracks, delivered with both the finesse of an artist of five decades’ experience and the lightness of touch that only comes when you’re having a blast. Never has the Modfather sounded quite so at ease.”

Paul Weller has enjoyed an illustrious career over the years, having played in two successful bands- The Jam and soul band The Style Council- before venturing into his solo music ventures in 1992 with his self-titled debut record, which charted at number eight in the UK album charts, holding the position for seven weeks. Weller’s solo career experienced serious critical acclaim in the 2010s, with his 2010 album Wake Up The Nation being extremely well-received, resulting in a nomination for the Mercury Music Prize. Weller has shown no signs of slowing down since then, having released a further six studio albums since 2010.
