A recent press release calls Placebo’s Never Let Me Go an album that “grapples with humanity’s multiple crises, from “Beautiful James,” a stirring anthem for non-heteronormative relationships, to “Surrounded By Spies,” an observation on tech-saturation, “Try Better Next Time,” a track that is both a statement on climate calamity and a poetic hope for the future, and the final preview of the album: “Happy Birthday In The Sky,” a moving ode to those who are no longer with us.”

Singer and guitarist Brian Molko said of the album: “I wanted to capture the confusion of what it’s like to be alive today the feeling of being lost, always walking in a labyrinth, continuously being overwhelmed by information and opinions.”

Swedish post-metal outfit Cult of Luna have announced that they have unfortunately been forced to cancel their upcoming European and UK tour due to COVID-19 related concerns. The band is still slated to play Beyond The Redshift Festival in London on March 12th, and their October 2022 EU tour is still going ahead. You can see all of the cancelled tour dates here.

Sorry guys…BEYOND THE REDSHIFT on March 12th and October 2022 tour are still ON. Stay safe everyone. pic.twitter.com/MhFmregD8Y

— Cult of Luna (@Cultofluna_off) January 14, 2022

The band posted a statement regarding the cancellation across their social media, saying: “We hoped that it wouldn’t come to this. You all know the situation we’re in and at the moment it’s too unsafe to tour Europe, which means that we have to cancel the February/March tour. We’re all super disappointed about this but we have to adapt to reality. These are dark times for sure but it’s important to keep in mind that people’s health and lives are the only thing that’s important- everything else can wait.”

The band added: “Pandemics happen every now and then, it’s just that our generation hasn’t experienced anything like it. As before, humanity will get through this… All tickets will be reimbursed and we will update you as soon as possible regarding new touring plans.” You can read the full statement here, or at the link above.

Despite the pandemic slowing down their touring schedule, Cult of Luna have been very prolific when it comes to releasing music as of late. Last year, the band released the E.P. The Raging River, less than a year after releasing their eighth full-length album A Dawn to Fear. Much to the delight of fans, the band will be releasing their ninth full-length studio album The Long Road North in just under a month’s time, on February the 11th. The album will be released on Metal Blade Records, which the group signed with back in 2019. The band has released two singles from the record so far, “Cold Burn” and “Into The Night”. You can view the band’s visualiser for “Into The Night” down below. More information on the upcoming album, as well as pre-orders, can be found here.

Forming in 1998 in Umeå, Sweden from the ashes of a hardcore punk group called Eclipse, Cult of Luna released their self-titled debut album three years later, in 2001. Stylistically, the band blended the fury of hardcore punk with the melodic sensibilities and lengthy song structures of post-metal, culminating in a sound that was not too dissimilar to genre titans Isis (the band, not the other thing) and Neurosis. The band’s 2004 record Salvation is widely considered to be their “breakout” album, which received overwhelming acclaim, with Metal Hammer awarding it an extremely rare 10/10 rating. Cult of Luna’s entire musical catalogue can be found on all streaming services.

American metalcore stalwarts Every Time I Die have unfortunately made the decision to cancel their upcoming UK tour due to COVID-19 concerns. The band has stated that refunds will be available at the point of purchase for fans.

Due to the ongoing restrictions and financial liability for a tour of this size we have no option but to cancel the UK tour. Our apologies to our UK friends. Refunds will be available at point of purchase.

— Every Time I Die (@everytimeidie) January 11, 2022

The Buffalo, NY band were originally going to embark on a nine-date tour with The Bronx, Jesus Piece and sanction, which was set to commence at Chalk in Brighton on January 27th, and conclude at London’s Roundhouse on February 5th. The band said in a statement: “Due to the ongoing restrictions and financial liability for a tour of this size we have no option but to cancel the UK tour.”

On a more positive note, frontman Keith Buckley has not changed his plans to embark on his Q&A tour “An Evening with Keith Buckley”, which will commence on February 7th in London, and will run for six dates, with other stops in Birmingham, Glasgow, Leeds, Belfast and Dublin. Tickets for this Q&A tour can be found on Every Time I Die’s website. The band are also still scheduled to return to the UK for Manchester’s Outbreak Festival this June, performing alongside Knocked Loose, Turnstile, Touché Amore and Basement. Tickets and more information for the festival can be found here.

Last year, Every Time I Die released their highly anticipated ninth full-length studio album, entitled Radical. The album is the first since 2016’s acclaimed Low Teens, and proves that the group is showing no signs of slowing down musically. The riffs are sinister and frantic, complimenting vocalist Keith Buckley’s iconic, howling voice as he spits out bitter, scathing poetry about the world around him. The album is available via all streaming services, and physical media can be purchased here.

Every Time I Die was formed in 1998 in Buffalo, New York, with founding members Jordan Buckley and Andy Williams and Keith Buckley still remaining constant in the band to this day. The band enjoyed moderate success in their early years as a band, touring with Killswitch Engage after releasing their debut album Last Night In Town in 2001. The group would later go on to experience growing success with the release of their later albums, playing the now fan favourite “We’rewolf” from 2007’s The Big Dirty on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

The Australian band has made their mark as quite possibly one of the most successfully prolific bands working today; despite only forming in 2010, the band has released eighteen full-length studio albums. The group has also proven throughout their career that they cannot be pinned down by one genre, as whilst some would categorise them as psychedelic rock, the band has subverted this label numerous times by releasing a thrash metal album in 2019, and most recently, they have ventured into the realms of dream pop and synthpop with Butterfly 3000.

Butterfly 3000 was released on the 11th of June to warm reception from both fans and critics, with Stereogum saying; “…King Gizzard magically arrived at their most generously melodic and open-hearted album to date.” The sound of the album is a slight change of course to prior albums; whilst it is still recognisably King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, the group has focused heavily on the use of modular synthesiser motifs, danceable drum beats and dreamy atmospheres. The album (along with the rest of the band’s musical catalogue) is available on all streaming services, and physical media can be pre-ordered here.

Butterfly 3000 is the second full-length album that the band has released this year, the first being L.W., released on February 25th. L.W. was also well-received and features a sound that occupies familiar ground for the band, with a focus on psychedelic elements and an “Eastern” sound that can also be heard on albums such as Flying Microtonal Banana (2017) and Polygondwanaland (2017).

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard will be accompanied by numerous different artists on this upcoming tour, including Amyl and the Sniffers, SPELLING, DJ Crenshaw, Leah Senior and The Murlocs.

The tour will entail shows in South America, Europe and the United States of America. Listed down below are the band’s European tour dates. Tickets can be purchased here.

Taking him closer to become the internet’s most inspiring rapper. Blending themes from mainstream to Soundcloud, to even darker tones.

A million miles an hour rapper, Oliver Francis, is set to head out on a UK and EU tour which will start as of January 2022. Playing shows in Glasgow, Manchester, and London. Oliver is coming back in full force. With supports still yet to be announced, the hype for this tour is already on the go.

With “Oli FM” on its way, we are sure to be in for a treat. It’s 9 song tracklist, which includes a recent single, “PMW”. It will also include exciting new tracks, such as: “100.1 Oli FM :)”, “Money on my mind”, and “MOB”. Although, with no release date in sight, we are yet to know when we will be hearing, what could be, Oli’s best album to date.

Behemoth and Arch Enemy were set to head out on their European Siege tour, alongside Carcass and Untoothers, which would see them visit London, Dublin, and Glasgow; alongside many others. Sadly, the bands are forced to push their tour back until September through to November 2022. The bands are highly anticipated to return to the stage. Especially after Behemoth’s “In Absentia Dei” which streamed last year to adoring online crowds. Despite being postponed, all tickets will remain valid for the new dates.

“Nobody’s more disappointed than us about this, that’s for damn sure,” says Arch Enemy guitarist Michael Amott. He continues: “But it is what it is, and we’re already looking forward to getting back to it in 2022! Stay healthy, stay metal!”.

In the announcement, Behemoth shared the news that they are working on new music. The band has been silent since 2020’s “A Forest” EP. Which saw the band team up with Niklas Kvarforth on their cover of The Cure’s hit single “A Forest”. Arch Enemy is also set to release new music, after 2019’s “Covered In Blood”. It is safe t0 say the bands will be unleashing an incredible performance of new and old music during the new dates.
