The concert will take place this Saturday, 27th June, with host Dwayne Johnson and other acts Christine and the Queens, J Balvin, and none other than Shakira. The full line-up is relatively short compared to the previous event, arranged by Lady Gaga, however it will see David Beckham and Olivia Colman make appearances.

Streaming globally through YouTube, Twitter, and Twitch, UK fans will be able to watch from their homes, although the times are yet to be revealed. The campaign’s goal is to call on “world leaders to help bring an end to COVID-19 by urging them to commit the billions of dollars needed to deliver testing, treatments and vaccines to everyone, everywhere,” as Shakira explained.

During this time, while everyone is experiencing difficulty due to the Covid-19 pandemic, some communities have not been receiving the same support as others simply because of the area they live in, or their income. Coldplay, who are known to be philanthropists, shared their thoughts, announcing that their hope is “combat the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on communities of colour by calling on world leaders to make testing, treatments & vaccines available to everyone, everywhere.”

On their social media pages, Global Citizen surprised followers with the announcement, saying, “Tune in on June 27 for an event featuring artists, world leaders, scientists, and more are all uniting to ensure that everyone, everywhere has equal access to COVID-19 healthcare.”

Viewers can get involved by signing the petition on the official website, educating on the #BlackLivesMatter movement, donating, and watching the concert on Saturday.

In total, the livestream lasted over two hours, and thousands tuned in to watch the young singer-songwriter play his original songs on the piano and chat to fans. Martin live-streamed from his home studio, performing two of his songs ‘Sparks’ and ‘Daddy’, as well as a cover of ‘Moon River’. Collier said of the experience “That was fun and pretty crazy,” later posting on Instagram that Martin was “stratospheric”.

Chris Martin was the first artist to hold a livestream for ‘Together At Home'; he has now put on two and taken part in the ‘One World: Together At Home’ broadcast, along with many others. The concert raised a total of $127 million for coronavirus relief.

Continuing the concert solo, Collier asked fans to comment requests which he would play on the spot. He even covered Coldplay songs ‘Fix You’ and ‘A Sky Full Of Stars’, putting his own jazz spin on them. Jacob Collier’s career began on YouTube and blew up in 2012 when he uploaded a cover of Stevie Wonder’s ‘Don’t You Worry ‘Bout A Thing’. He has now released two full length albums, ‘In My Room’, recorded in his bedroom at home, and ‘Djesse’, made up of four volumes – the first two volumes are already available and have won a Grammy each. Collier is a multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter.

The artist has been a part of many organisations to support Covid-19 relief or simply to help people to feel connected while in isolation. Apart from running live streams for fans and ‘Together at Home’, he recently recorded a COLORS session from his London home as well a Stream Aid performance of ‘Hallelujah’.

Coldplay’s latest album was released in November 2019 as a double album. ‘Everyday Life’ is their eighth studio album, and the eighth to debut at number 1 on the UK Albums Chart. Due to the environmental impact of touring, Martin announced prior to the album release that they would not be going on tour until they can find a way to make sure it’s not only sustainable, but beneficial. Founded in 1996, they hold a total of 9 Brit Awards and 7 Grammys and have sold more than 100 million records worldwide, making them one of the world’s best-selling artists. They are well-known for supporting social and political issues such as the climate crisis.

Little Mix took to social media this morning to inform fans that their tour will not be going ahead this year. Although many were saddened by the news, it is in everyone’s best interests and did not come as a surprise – upon government advice and guidelines, all large gatherings in the UK are being postponed until further notice.

Originally, the tour was set to take place in June and July, stopping in cities all over the UK. The band was even on the line-up for British Summer Time in Hyde Park, which has also unfortunately been cancelled. At the time of writing, there have been no updates on when Little Mix will perform live again; it is unlikely that an announcement will be made until organisers can be sure that it is safe. Fans who have purchased tickets will receive an email from ticket agents with refund information.

Despite not being able to reach fans in person, Little Mix have been a part of multiple live streams in which they have performed songs, answered questions, and chatted with each other. Most recently, they appeared in Global Health Organisation’s ‘One World: Together At Home’ broadcast along with many other artists around the world.

The girls performed an acoustic version of their song ‘Touch’ from their individual homes, sending a message of love to all the people who are working hard to help people during this time. Perrie Edwards gave a speech before the performance, saying to key workers “You all deserve such a huge “thank you” and we appreciate you so so so much. Everybody please take care of yourselves, take care of your loved ones, stay home, save lives, and protect the NHS.”

Apart from this, the girl band has been promoting their new release, ‘Break Up Song’, the lead single from their sixth studio album. Jesy Nelson revealed in an interview with Official Charts that the album is nearly finished, so it’s likely that fans will hear from the girls soon.

Little Mix formed in 2011 when the four members all auditioned for The X Factor as soloists and were asked to return as a group. They went on to win and sign to Simon Cowell’s label Syco, releasing five albums. The band have won two Brit Awards and done a lot of work to combat cyber-bullying, support women’s and LGBTQ+ rights, along with supporting many charities and organisations.

There will be two parts to the special: a digital live-stream and a linear broadcast, with curator Lady Gaga and hosts Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, and Stephen Colbert. A number of artists will appear, including Paul McCartney, Elton John, Sam Smith, Jessie J, Ellie Goulding and many more. UK viewers can watch the digital stream on 18th April from 7pm and the broadcast on 19th April from 7pm to 9pm (BST).

Artists and bands who have already participated by running live-streams on their personal Instagram pages include Chris Martin, Picture This, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello, Anne-Marie, and Niall Horan. During these sessions, they took requests from fans, answered questions and played original music as well as covers; their joint goal during this time is to unite and protect people in isolation. The broadcast will have a similar theme, though on a much larger scale.

Hugh Evans, CEO and co-founder of Global Citizen, made a statement in which he said “We are grateful to the private sector who have listened to the public’s call for action and come together to support the global response to COVID19. This pandemic is too large for governments to tackle alone.”

His personal hope for the special is that everyone will come away believing that we can “emerge from this moment forever grateful for the work of doctors, nurses, teachers, grocery store workers and all those who are the backbone of out communities.”

Horan had planned to tour his latest album ‘Heartbreak Weather’ from 20th April all the way through to 10th December, but found it ineffective to miss out on most of the dates. In a statement to fans, he said “This is a difficult decision, but the well-being of my fans and touring family is always my priority,” continuing, “I look forward to being able to bring new music and a new tour to all of my fans around the world in 2021″.

The tour had dates in the UK, Europe and America with support acts including Lewis Capaldi and Maisie Peters. For the time being, all tickets will be refunded and no dates will be decided until the pandemic has been controlled. ‘Heartbreak Weather’ is Horan’s second solo album after leaving boyband One Direction, debuting at number 1 on both the UK and Irish Albums Charts with an amazing reception from fans. It was prefaced by singles ‘Nice To Meet Ya’, ‘No Judgement’ and ‘Lay A Little Love On Me’.

During this uncertain time, Horan has become one of many artists to connect with fans via livestream, giving virtual concerts on Instagram. He previously followed Chris Martin by running a livestream in collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO) and Global Citizen for their ‘Together At Home’ campaign. This week, he is set to play on Thursday 9th April at 7:00pm on his Instagram page and 2FM.

Niall Horan began his career when he auditioned for The X Factor and was put into the band One Direction, which eventually broke up in 2016. Horan then signed a record deal with Capitol Records and released music as a solo artist. His debut album ‘Flicker’ came out in 2017 and debuted at number 1 in Ireland and the US, charting within the top three in the UK. ‘Heartbreak Weather’ will be his second solo album.

Sets tend to be 30 minutes long, with original songs, covers, and chats with viewers. Previously, Coldplay kicked the sessions off with Chris Martin’s solo show. Other artists who have participated include John Legend, Niall Horan, Charlie Puth, and Picture This planned to perform tonight at 9pm on Instagram Live.

The latest to perform are Camila Cabello and boyfriend Shawn Mendes, duetting Ed Sheeran’s song ‘Kiss Me’ on Friday afternoon (20th March). The pair sat outside while Mendes played the guitar and they giggled through the song. MTV were watching, commenting that the laughing made it better. Cabello also reminded viewers that she and Mendes had already covered the song in 2017.

Mendes said during the live-stream that “this is a time were I think everyone should be extremely, extremely forgiving and kind to themselves” while Cabello urged fans to distance themselves to prevent the spread of Covid-19. When viewers were asked what they were up to, one fan joked “washing my hands”, prompting a conversation about hand washing.

Songs which they chose to sing included ‘Misplaced in Japan’ by Mendes, ‘Havana’ by Camila Cabello, and their 2019 collaboration ‘Señorita’. Cabello also gave fans a slight spoiler, telling them that Mendes had shown her some of his new songs and they are “pretty magical”. He had previously broken news of a new album on his Instagram story in February.

Prior to the concert, Mendes posted to his Instagram with the caption “I know times are scary right now but I just wanted to check in with you all.” The singer has always been an advocate for important causes, founding the Shawn Mendes Foundation which supports children’s education and mental health. He has also worked with Global Citizen before, playing at their 2018 festival in New York. Cabello has shown her support for various charities for low-income families and children, as well as donating all proceeds of her song ‘Havana’ to the American Civil Liberties Union for Dreamers (ACLU).
