Outbreak Festival has officially unveiled the initial lineup of artists set to perform at its upcoming 13th edition. Scheduled to unfold in Manchester from June 28 to 30, 2024, the festival is set to retrace its steps to its original Manchester venue, the Bowlers Exhibition Centre, after its 2023 stint at Depot Mayfield. The announcement comes via an Instagram post from December 15, setting the stage for what promises to be a prominent fixture in the hardcore and counterculture scene.

Rock band Basement are the sole headliner announced so far, marking their third appearance at the festival after performing both in 2015 and 2022. The excitement is only set to escalate as the anticipation builds for the June weekender, with three additional headliners yet to be announced.

The Friday lineup boasts a diverse array of musical talents, featuring JPEGMAFIA, Flatbush Zombies, The Garden, Redveil, MAVI, and King Isis.

The excitement continues with a multigenre array of performances on Saturday and Sunday, showcasing talents like Soccer Mommy, Show Me The Body, Poison The Well, Angel Du$t, Mannequin Pussy, Ceremony, Touché Amoré, Movements, Incendiary, Mindforce, and more.

Other performers include Balance and Composure, Bodyweb, Chat Pile, Demonstration Of Power, Fiddlehead, Higher Power, Hot Mulligan, Teenage Wrist, The World Is A Beautiful Place And I Am No Longer Afraid To Die, amongst others.

Adding a touch of nostalgia, Outbreak Festival presents special anniversary sets from Joyce Manor, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the seminal album ‘Never Hungover Again,’ American shoegazers Nothing performing ‘Guilty of Everything‘ from 2014, and The Hotelier marking a decade of their second album ‘Home, Like Noplace Is There.’ New Jersey post-hardcore artist Thursday will also contribute to the sentimental vibe with a set comprising tracks from their acclaimed albums ‘War All The Time‘ and ‘Full Collapse.’

Reflecting on the success of the 2023 edition, headlined by US hip-hop acts Denzel Curry and Death Grips, along with Converge and Bane, Outbreak Festival remains committed to its diverse lineup and its roots in hardcore and alternative music. Hailed as “the heart and soul of hardcore” in Huck magazine, it is a staple in the calendar for enthusiasts in the hardcore and counterculture scenes.

Tickets for the highly anticipated 2024 edition are already on sale here beckoning fans to secure their spot for what promises to be an unmissable experience. Fans can expect more announcements, including the other three headliners, in the coming months. Stay tuned for updates.

NME is reporting that the Twitter account of ex-Lostprophets singer has become active again, despite the convicted paedophile being in jail since December 2013.

Watkins was sentenced to 29 years, plus six years on license, following a series of serious child sex offences. Watkins also later lost his appeal to reduce his jail time, with judges ruling that the “shocking depravity” of the crimes justified the sentence’s length.

Recently there had been speculation that Watkins had been moved to HMP Long Lartin in Worcestershire, but on November 21 Watkins’ verified Twitter account posted it’s first tweets since December 2012. All three tweets contained Soundcloud links, including two tracks uploaded by Watkins’ side project L’Amour La Morgue, as well as a more recent upload by an account named Megalelz, clearly taking influence from Watkins’ previously famous catchphrase ‘Mega Lolz’.

Team Rock also reports that Lostprophets’ official website was updated yesterday. This is also odd, because Watkins’ former bandmates now perform with Thursday frontman Geoff Rickley in the band No Devotion.

Upon Watkins’ initial arrest in 2012, guitarist Lee Gaze told BBC Newsbeat that none of the band’s members knew anything about the crimes being committed.“How could you know? How would you know? […]Who would disclose such a thing to five people, who between them have eight children? You just wouldn’t because they would be killed on the spot.” Gaze also claimed that the band were not on good terms at the time of the arrest, and would have broken up regardless of Watkins’ arrest.
