‘Angelina’ features bold string arrangements paired with dramatic percussion, creating an emotional atmosphere that captivates the listener. The track captures the raw intensity of a relationship full of challenges, delving deep into the struggles of navigating conflict and insecurities. This is poignantly expressed in the lyrics, “I wasn’t bleeding for you but you were draining it out.” The song explores themes of love and tension, offering a heartfelt narrative. Its layered instrumentation and sincere delivery make it a standout piece, blending emotional vulnerability with musical brilliance. 

The new album is set to focuses on re-imagined acoustic renditions of songs inspired by the women in Falconer’s life. By stripping down his music to its bare core, Falconer unveils a raw, intimate side of his artistry. The project promises to offer fans a fresh take on his work, emphasising the emotional depth of his songwriting. 

Kyle Falconer has long been recognised for his distinctive voice and emotive songwriting. His band The View, who are from Dundee, Scotland, rose to fame in the mid-2000s with hits like ‘Superstar Tradesman’ and ‘Same Jeans’. The band blended indie rock with pop to create anthems that remain iconic today. Falconer and The View have sustained their status as standout figures in the indie genre, thanks to their authentic style and significant influence among fans. 

For Falconer, this year has been eventful. He married his long-term partner, Laura Wilde, in Edinburgh. The couple, along with their children, now reside in Spain, a life he has been sharing with fans on social media.

Meanwhile, The View are set to perform at three festivals next year, including In It Together in Port Talbot and Park Series Brighton at East Brighton Park, both in May, as well as Donnyfest in Doncaster in June. These upcoming performances offer fans the chance to reconnect with the band and celebrate their enduring legacy. 

With ‘Angelina’ and his upcoming album ‘The One I Love the Most’, Kyle Falconer once again showcases his versatility and artistic evolution. Bringing local, emerging bands on tour is a great way to give them the spotlight and reach fans in a way they may not have been able to otherwise. This Feeling announced “We’re delighted to announce some amazing support bands for our upcoming UK tour. Each band have been hand picked by the band and club night This Feeling to give young, up and coming acts the chance to share a bigger stage with The View.”

This Feeling founder Mikey Jonns shared his excitement for the upcoming tour, by saying “As a young band the opportunity to play big venues with a big band is a dream so huge love and respect The View boys for making that dream come true for loads of brilliant acts we’re working with – it’s gonna be a blinding night of music from start to finish!”

Different bands will support The View on different dates of the tour. Support acts will typically join the Scottish trio on dates in their local area. You can find a full list of tour dates and support acts below.

Speaking on Exorcism of Youth, frontman Kyle Falconer said, “This is my baby.” The album delivers the classic indie-rock tracks that the band are known for but also promises to show off a “new-found maturity and darker undercurrent” as told in a press release.

The album has already garnered glowing reviews, with The Daily Star writing “The indie veterans managed to get the chemistry cracking back in the studio after years apart. Calm ballads and energetic synthpop show they’ve learned new tricks… they’re still capable of delivering a knockout blow.”

Similarly, Northern Exposure wrote, “Their most vulnerable album yet… Every listen will uncover fresh little gems.”

The album includes their latest single, “Black Mirror,” with frontman Kyle Falconer explaining in a press release that the tone of the song is closer to revenge than romance.

Falconer shared, “‘Black Mirror’ isn’t a love song as it may appear on the surface, it’s an anti-hero escape into the consciousness of a person grappling with dark feelings in the early hours of a break-up. It’s schadenfreude, it’s about relishing in someone else’s misery when they have watched your demise. Basically looking at how people can be too afraid nowadays to feel those ugly emotions and just white wash them away but it’s okay to feel that sometimes, but it’s how you act on it that counts.”

The View worked with Grammy-award winning producer, Youth to create Exorcism of Youth, known for his work with The Verve, The Charlatans and Jesus & Mary Chain.

The band’s reunion follows a tumultuous period for the band, during which an on-stage fight took place during a show, leading them to cancel subsequent shows. Speaking on the fight, Falconer said, “It was just personal stuff. We’ve made up about it now. It’s too deep to explain. It’s all good again. I think we’re better for it. We’re all best pals again now.”

He continued, “These things have happened numerous times in every country in the world. Being in The View can be volatile sometimes because everyone’s got their own ideas. But we’ve been through worse than that. We’ve both apologised and it’s fine – if it wasn’t, we wouldn’t still be in a band.”

Despite their self-proclaimed short tempers and ability to clash, The View are quickly approaching their 20th anniversary as a band and are keen to keep going strong.

Fans of The View who have pre-ordered the upcoming album of theirs, Exorcism Of Youth will receive access to a ticket pre-sale, which will open on Wednesday 3 May. Pre-sale availability will still remain live until the tickets go on a general sale on Friday 5 May at 9 am. For more information, it will be on the band’s website through here. It has also been confirmed that The View will perform at other live shows. Intimate headline gigs at Manchester’s Deaf Institute (May 10) and London Oslo (May 11) are already sold out. After five years of inactivity within the band and the band reconvened, the three old friends came to a realisation of the fact of how much they have missed everything during their time as a band, the rush of the sight of an audience’s reaction to their performances, the thought of staying close together and a simple jam idea evolving into a song within a second.

Their connection gathered place in Granada Spain as they focused on new material with the Grammy Award winning producer, Youth (The Verve, Jesus and Mary Chain, The Charlatans). This resulted in their latest upcoming album, Exorcism Of Youth and it weaves natural-sounding sonic elements into their renowned rock ‘n’ roll feel in the album. Their first new track in 8 years, “Just Like”, gained attention from Jo Whiley at Radio 2 and received a very positive reaction. This was also followed by being named Track of the Week at Amazing Radio. The return of The View continued to gain traction with the follow-up of their song in the album, “Neon Lights”.

Speaking about the single, the Dundonian singer-songwriter said: “For me, it was about using this song as therapy to relieve your stress. I tried to relay that in my vocal by making it fun and feel-good, rather than a serious song about being stressed… I’ve been writing too seriously for a while and I wanted something uplifting to make you happy and upbeat when you’re listening to it.”

The single follows track Laura, which was released in January 2021. The video for Stress Ball is available to watch on YouTube now, and stars Falconer alongside Kerrie Thomasson. It was directed and produced by Sitcom Soldiers, who have also made music videos for The Darkness and Sleeping with Sirens.

Scottish indie band The View rose to fame via 2007 hit Same Jeans, which came from their chart-topping debut album Hats Off to the Buskers. The group won Best Track at the NME Awards 2007 for Wasted Little DJs, and their debut album was nominated for the 2007 Mercury Music Prize. They announced that they were going on hiatus in 2017.

Falconer released his solo debut album No Thank You in 2018, which placed in the UK Albums Chart and won Best Solo Album at the Scottish Music Awards. In 2019, he released an EP of covers named Almost Pleasant. The singer plans to play live shows when COVID-19 restrictions are relaxed.
