src="//www.instagram.com/embed.js" async="">The Strokes have just released their tour dates for the 2026 ‘Reality Awaits The World Tour’, including the UK dates in October that visit London, Newcastle and Manchester.

American Indie band, The Strokes, are finally making their way back to the UK after three years, with a new release after an even bigger six year gap between their last album, ‘The New Abnormal’ in 2020. The world tour is in support of the upcoming seventh studio album, ‘Reality Awaits The World’ which is due for release on 26 June, 2026.

The circulation of the tour release, yesterday, has fans already buzzing over the news and wondering what to expect from the band. Classics from the decades-long indie releases have the fans questioning if their old favourites will appear alongside the songs of ‘Reality Awaits The World’. These include testaments to the band’s sound, like ‘The Adults Are Talking’, ‘Last Nite’ and ‘Reptilia’. The band originated their sound from influences that they grew up listening to the genre of indie and mod sounds, such as The Velvet Undergound, The Doors and Pearl Jam, making their music and song lyrics a mix of aggressive guitar use but also a low talking-singing style inspired by Lou Reed.

After officially dropping their new single ‘Going Shopping’ on April 6th 2026, fans were eager to know the band’s plans for a tour release, especially after the live song debut at Coachella on April 11th, 2026. The tour will take place from June to October, with performances set to stop in North America, UK, Europe and Japan. The band’s comeback into the tour scene will also see their performances be held in some of the most iconic venues, such as the London O2, Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam and The Accor Arena in Paris.

Along with the treat that is the band’s resurgence into the UK, they are set to bring many memorable artists for opening and collaboration. Some of these include Thundercat, Cage The Elephant and Alex Cameron. Cage The Elephant was last in the UK in February 2025 in the O2 Academy, Brixton, where they marked an exciting return to the UK after six years. This was due to many cancelled dates in 2019 after guitarist, Nick Bockrath, had a serious leg injury. Fans hope that they will appear in UK venues across the tour. The Strokes, with support from these artists, curate an exciting collaboration for the indie scene. Making appearances from Alex Cameron after four years and Thundercat after two years, a hopeful crossover for fans who would see some of indie’s greatest artists collaborating in UK venues.

The June 26th release of the album will truly define the band’s next step in the world of indie rock. The Strokes’ tour tickets will go on general sale on April 17th 2026, at 10am, with presale tickets happening at the same time on April 15th.

The festival is held over two weekends and is a must for alternative music fans.

Having recently toured the UK, Haim will take a break from their travels this year, with this being the only European show for the sisters in 2023.

They recently made waves by bringing Taylor Swift on stage at The O2 to perform their hit song “Gasoline” as well as Swift’s “Love Story”.

Haim are set to join an already star-studded line-up for All Points East, joining Angel Olsen, Amyl and the Sniffers and The Strokes.

You know it is going to be a good day when a great band emerges with two new European tour dates. The beloved New Yorkian group, The Strokes, have nailed down two new remarkable gigs in London and Paris for their tour this summer.

It is confirmed that The Strokes will be headlining at All Points East music festival this year. East London’s annual event held in Victoria Park, known for showcasing some of the best rock, indie and alternative artists. After touring with Red Hot Chili Peppers around the US, the five-piece rock band will be crossing the pond to play on the Friday, 25th of August in London, alongside a number of other significant names in the rock scene such as the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Amyl and the Sniffers, Black Midi, Girl In Red and many more, still to be announced.

After playing in London, the band will be visiting France to play on the Sunday, 27th August at Rock en Seine among another series of great names such as Florence + The Machine, The Chemical Brothers, Billie Eilish etc. It is a Paris-based festival presenting a combination of indie, alternative, hip-hop and electronic music.

The band benignantly played many live shows last year and seem to be hungry for more this coming season. Especially after announcing their upcoming release on the 24th February; The Singles – Volume 01, featuring singles from their three first albums Is This It (2001), Room on Fire (2003), and First Impressions of Earth (2006), as well as rare B-sides from the era, pressed on black vinyl and available to pre-order online now. One of the singles of the album “The Modern Age (Rough Trade Version)” has been released this week and is available to stream everywhere. This will allow a good build up to their live performances with a nostalgic anticipation of their sound.

Tickets for both Paris and London went on sale on the 27th January.

At Glasgow’s TRNSMT Festival last night (the 9th of July) indie fans were treated to a headline set from the strokes. Yet many have voiced their concerns over the well-being of the band’s frontman Julian Casablancas- whose erratic actions on stage seemed to signify that he was heavily intoxicated.

Though it’s clear that the singer has a deep love for the city of Glasgow, it seems his mind was elsewhere during the show at TRNSMT when he said; “I haven’t been to Glasgow in a long time. I don’t recognise the place.”

He then added; “The Barrowlands where we used to play, I miss that place. I miss being pulled to shreds by the Glasgow crowd. It’s a fun place. My memories of Glasgow… always the most chaotic, violent shows of my life. This is a nice change of pace though. Next time, the Barrowlands.”

The feedback from the gig varies. In a lot of cases, the fans stated that whilst the catchy hits of the indie royalty still sounded great, the periods between each track which saw Casablancas dish out bizarre rants and banter to the attendees were less palatable.

Another Fan also commented that Casablancas; “Did not bother hiding his disdain from the crowd (he called them Glasgow Children’s Choir and said he’d rather be at the Barrowlands)”.

Earlier in the week, Casablancaas received much of the same criticism after the Stroke’s performance at Roskilde Festival in Denmark. According to setlist.fm their set started half an hour behind the allotted schedule and according to fans featured much of the same antics, i.e; “lots of erratic and endless banter from Casablancas”.

Following the rumours that he was inebriated during the show, Casablancas took to Twitter (with a message that has since been deleted) with a statement of his own; “I’m not tuned into Twitter things enough to know what some confused fan thinks or pretends they know,” he wrote, “but I’m fine… far as I know … people been asking me weiiird questionnns [sic] – ahh the dumb side of social media… Lame-Os running around so hard and free.”

On the 8th of July, we sadly saw more of the same, when a woman was pulled from the crowd to join them on stage. Casablancas jested that he has going to head backstage and; “go do some blow”. The woman went on to sing the full six minutes of “Ode To The Mets” while Casablancas was still nowhere to be seen.

The annual Barcelona festival is now scheduled to take place in August 2020 instead of June.

Amidst a wave of cancelled festivals and events, Primavera Sound is the latest event to fall victim to the coronavirus crisis. Posting a statement to their website, festival organisers, said: “Faced with this constantly changing scenario, the restrictions imposed by the authorities on the celebration of public shows and on the free movement of people (making the participation of the announced artists difficult and in many cases impossible) and in coordination with the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Barcelona City Council and the Sant Adrià de Besòs City Council, we are forced to postpone the upcoming edition of Primavera Sound Barcelona for reasons of force majeure known to us all. Our absolute priority has always been to guarantee the safety of our audience, artists and all the people involved in the festival.”

The original festival was meant to take place between June 3rd and June 7th 2020, but amid the growing coronavirus pandemic the festival has been postponed until August. The festival will now take place from August 26th and August 30th 2020, and tickets already purchased for the festival will continue to be valid for the new dates.

In an lengthy statement on their website, organisers of Primavera Sound, said: “For this reason, given the exceptional nature of the situation in which we find ourselves, Primavera Sound Barcelona 2020 will take place from 26th to 30th August. We feel obliged and responsible to contribute insofar as we can to the survival of the live music scene, whose role will be key to the return to normality after this absolutely unprecedented situation that has never been faced before by the cultural sector and all its agents: artists and their teams, agencies, promoters, venues, festivals, stage builders, technical and production teams, bar staff, cleaning and security staff, and in general the thousands of people involved in the sector. We thank all of them for their perseverance and contribution.

“On our side, and with the indispensable support of Pull & Bear, Heineken® and Desperados, adidas, Aperol, Lotus and all of the festival sponsors, we will make every effort to ensure that this change, imposed as a result of the current global health crisis, affects the festival’s programme as little as possible.”

The statement concluded, “The tickets already purchased for Primavera Sound Barcelona 2020 will continue to be valid for the new dates. Once the state of alarm decreed by the Government of Spain is over as well its possible extensions, we will give you more information and will reactivate the ticket sales. Moreover soon we will give you more details about NOS Primavera Sound Porto 2020. We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding in the face of this unprecedented situation. Let’s all face this together. We will get through this together. And we will celebrate our 20th anniversary together. We are waiting for you in the Parc del Fòrum in Barcelona at the end of August. Primavera in summer, for once in a lifetime.”

This year is a special time for the festival as it is set to celebrate it’s 20th anniversary and this year’s impressive line-up reflects the celebrations. Primavera Sound Barcelona 2020 revealed that headlining this year’s festival would be Tyler, The Creator, Lana Del Rey, The Strokes, Beck, and Massive Attack. Joining the five impressive headliners will be performances from the likes of Pavement, King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard, Maggie Rogers, Khaled, Bikini Kill, The National, Kacey Musgraves, Iggy Pop, Disclosure, Dinosaur Jr., King Krule, and Young Thug, among many others.

Unfortunately, for fans of both Primavera Sound and Reading and Leeds Festival the new rescheduled dates for Primavera Sound will take place the same weekend as Reading and Leeds Festival. The news comes after Reading and Leeds announced that the festival will go ahead as planned for the time being. Following the cancellation of Glastonbury Festival and flurry of other cancelled events and festival, Reading and Leeds Festival released a statement that confirmed the festival will go ahead as planned.

A statement released on the Reading and Leeds Festival website, said: “Please be assured that the safety and health of all staff and visitors, is our main priority and we are implementing recommendations and instructions appropriately. We are closely monitoring official guidance from the World Health Organisation, Public Health England, UK Government, local public health authorities and are working with event promoters and organisers as information evolves.”

Speaking to Gigwise, about their landmark performance at the festival, keyboardist Jordan Fish, said: “The show is going to be completely different to what we’re doing at any other festival and not only in terms of the setlist. We’ve got a much longer setlist than we would get at any other festival, we’ve got two hours which is longer than we’ve ever played before, and it gives us the opportunity to play a much more varied set and do some old stuff that we wouldn’t necessarily do, which is going to be exciting for the fans I think.

“We’re going to do some songs that we haven’t played for a long time and it allows us to fit in some newer stuff as well, I guess it means we really don’t have to compromise on the set or drop anything.”

The band will be joined, on Friday the 31st of May, by a number of hand-picked bands to support them, which includes Architects, Run The Jewels, Nothing But Thieves, Idles, Alice Glas, While She Sleeps, Employed To Serve, Scarlxrd, and Yonaka. Speaking about how they picked the bands, bassist Matt Kean, said: “We got together over a bunch of different meetings and put together a list of bands that we wanted.”

While, Fish added: “We were all pretty much on the same page with it, obviously our fans traditionally are more rock scene fans, but then a lot of the music that we listen to and are influenced by is a lot more varied so it’s trying to come up with a line-up that feels like it’s going to appeal to someone who likes our music but also a line-up that would appeal to us or people who have a varied taste.

“Anything that we think is exciting from any genre rather than loading it with rock bands, we’re trying to think of stuff that’s going to work, not necessarily in terms of genre, but in terms of the energy and the vibe.”

Along with the responsibility of headlining comes the freedom that comes with playing a longer set, with Fish adding: “There’s going to be something for every one of our fans there.

“We’re going to do some older stuff just because of the history of the band and we’re probably going to be playing some new songs that we’ve never played before off of the new album and obviously everything in between is going to get a good run too. It’s going to be the most comprehensive set for a Bring Me The Horizon fan that we’ve ever played.”

Meanwhile, also headlining the All Points East festival, this May, will be The Chemical Brothers, The Strokes, Christine And The Queens, Mumford & Sons, and Bon Iver.

The line-up for Electric Picnic 2019 has, today (March 14) been revealed, and it is lead by Hozier; The 1975; Florence and The Machine; and The Strokes. The festival will be returning to County Laois, in Ireland, between the 30th of August and the 1st of September 2019 – with all four of the above acts taking top billing across the weekend.

This year’s festival is set to include an impressive line-up with some of today’s biggest names joining the stellar headline acts Hozier, The 1975, Florence and the Machine, and The Strokes. Among the other notable names, revealed in the first series of acts is Jess Glynne, Billie Eilish, Christine & The Queens, James Blake, Jarvis Cocker, Years & Years, and Miles Kane.

Speaking about the line-up, festival Director Melvin Benn, said: “It’s the most extraordinary line-up, way way beyond anything we’ve ever done, absolutely amazing. Hozier is going to be really really special headlining the show.” While previous line-ups may not have suited everyone, he believes there’s something for everyone this time around saying: “There will always be people who are disappointed. How they’d be disappointed with this one is beyond me!”

The following acts are also on the bill and will be joining the already stellar line-up is Dermot Kennedy, Four Tet, James Blake, Róisín Murphy, The Streets, Amelie Lens, Courtney Barnett, Echo & The Bunnymen, Freya Ridings, Kölsch, Maceo Plex, Metronomy, Michael Kiwanuka, Mitski, and MØ.

Taking place across three days from the 30th of August to the 1st of September 2019, at Stradbally Hall, in Co Laois, Ireland, the 2019 festival is the biggest in Ireland with a capacity this year of 55,000. The festival boasts not only multiple stages with different genres of music but spoken word, comedy, theatre, workshops, crafts, dance, lake swimming, gourmet food and a host of other treats.

Completing the first series of acts, revealed today, is Parquet Courts, Sam Fender, Shura, Alma, Bodega, Cavetown, G Flip, Georgia, Heavy Lungs, Kero Kero Bonito, Let’s Eat Grandma, Sasami, Sea Girls, Serpentwithfeet, Songs of Kemet, and Yves Tumor, with more to be announced soon.

The wait is over. @thestrokes @flo_tweet @Hozier & @the1975 will headline EP 2019! They’ll be joined by Billie Eilish, Christine & The Queens, Dermot Kennedy, Four Tet, James Blake +many more! https://t.co/76c7yScIJw pic.twitter.com/bEHMQISILz

— Electric Picnic (@EPfestival) March 13, 2019

This year also sees the addition of a brand new area, Freetown, which sees an extra 30 acres added to the Electric Picnic site. It’s an entirely new self-contained town which will be created (by the creatives behind Salty Dog, Berlinhaus, and Trailer Park) on the site formerly occupied by the Oscar Wilde campsite. It will centre around Terminus, a new 8,000 capacity stage for electronic and dance. The town will also boast Providencia with ‘Latino life down every alley-way’ and, on the outskirts, there will be Spike Island, The Oasis, and Cirque.

Speaking about the new addition, Benn, said: “I pressed a real big refresh button with the festival. I’m not diluting anything in the existing festival – it’s a whole new area. It’s a place that will really move Electric Picnic on to another festival within itself.”

The announcement comes as festival organisers, Festival Republic, that they will soon be announcing a brand new summer festival at a new location. In the meantime, the focus is on Electric Picnic, which now faces a little competition from All Together Now, which arrived on the scene to rave reviews last Bank Holiday weekend, in August.

However, according to Been there’s room for everyone, with Benn saying: “I’ve spent my entire life creating and producing festivals and I believe festivals are an incredible release for people’s pressured lives. The fact that there are more and more of them is only reinforcing my belief that they are so important. I’m not looking at them from a point of view of worry or anything like that. I just think the more the better. The more people who are going to festivals the better it is.”
