Today, the rapper shared details of a “one-night-only” concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London to commemorate five years since the release of his sophomore effort. The concert will take place on Tuesday, June 17.

A press release promised that the upcoming gig will bring the “genre-defining sound of ‘Big Conspiracy’ back to the stage – and bigger than ever”. It continued, saying that “This will be an intimate and deeply personal show, honouring an album that helped redefine the sound of British music.”

‘Big Conspiracy’ dropped in January 24, 2024, following a social media announcement from Hus the day before its release. It debuted at No. 1 on the UK Album Charts, and hosted Top 40-charting singles such as ‘Must Be’ and ‘No Denying’. Collaborators on the record include afrobeats icon Burna Boy, UK R&B star Ella Mai and Jamaican singer-songwriter Koffee.

Mixing multiple genres such as afrobeats, hip-hop, grime, R&B and garage, it was received critical acclaim from major publications. The Line Of Best Fit gave it a 9/10 review, saying that “Big Conspiracy is an album that certifies J Hus as one of the most influential artists in UK music.” It also earned him a nomination for the 2021 Brit Award for ‘British Album of the Year’.

In a time of rising ticket fees and dynamic pricing controversy, Hus has kept the prices for this show as low as possible, with tickets costed at £30. The press release expanded on this decision: “In an era of rising costs and inaccessible shows, this decision reflects Hus’ ongoing commitment to his community – making sure the people who made the music matter most can be there in person,”

The Royal Albert Hall has featured nights from hip-hop artists before, such as Nas for his 2024 tour honouring the 30th anniversary of his debut album ‘Illmatic‘. Public Enemy are also set to take to the stage for a show on June 27.

Tickets will go on general sale at 12pm BST tomorrow, on Friday (May 30). You can purchase tickets and find event details here on Ticketmaster.

Political hip hop pioneers Public Enemy have announced a “once in a lifetime” show at The Royal Albert Hall in London. The group will perform at the distinguished venue on June 27, and the show is being branded as an exclusive, one-off performance for their UK fans.

A press release says that the show will see the legendary group “take the stage for a night of politically charged, high-energy hip-hop, celebrating their legacy”.

In the same release, Public Enemy frontman Chuck D shared his excitement for the upcoming show: “We are honoured to have this opportunity to stand on the Royal Albert Hall stage and perform under the same renowned roof that the greats from Hendrix to Pavarotti, from the Beatles to my brothers Cypress Hill have. Thank you, London. We’ll see you soon.”

The concert will be the first UK show that Chuck D, Flava Flav and the crew have played in over a decade. Their first UK show saw them step to the stage at the Hammersmith Odeon in London in 1987 alongside LL Cool J and Eric B & Rakim. A few years back, Chuck spoke to NME about their memories of the tour: “We knew that the other Def Jam acts we were playing with would see the UK as being a drop-off for them, because in the States they were revered.

We went in there like we were going to take everything else in the world. We did things like we did in the United States, like we’d play the concert and then be in the tube right after the concert with the people. Or we’d rally the people in the streets before the concert. We wanted to spill blood on the stage.”

He also spoke to The Guardian in 2022 about Public Enemy and their impact here in Britian: “The English language had taken over the world, so we thought: why not plug hip-hop into it? The British had beaten the English language into so many cultures; bringing rap music back to the UK was our British invasion.”

Public Enemy have kept their schedule quite clear over the past few years, playing gigs here and there in the US. The group have just confirmed themselves as support for Guns ‘N’ Roses on their 2025 tour, alongside Rival Sons and Sex Pistols.

Tickets for the show will go on sale this Friday (April 4) at 9am. You can visit here to view and purchase tickets.

Acclaimed folk artist Ani DiFranco has announced an exclusive one-off London performance at the Royal Albert Hall on June 11, 2025. This marks her only UK show of the year and will see her joined by fellow American singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell, the creator of the Tony Award-winning musical Hadestown. Tickets go on sale to the general public on October 11, 2024, via BookingsDirect.com.

DiFranco, a trailblazer in the independent music scene, is renowned for both her music and activism. Her genre-bleding work fuses elements of punk, folk, jazz, and electronica, while displaying a DIY ethos. DiFranco founded her label, Righteous Babe Records, in 1990, about which she told BandWagon, “I realized a label wasn’t something that aligned with my purpose. A label meant moulding my image to fit someone else’s definition of my music. F*** all of that”. Over her three-decade career, DiFranco has released 23 albums, collaborated with artists as varied as R&B saxophonist Maceo Parker and folk legend Utah Phillips, and carved out a space for politically conscious, genre-defying music.

Her 2025 show comes on the back of Unprecedented Sh!t, DiFranco’s 23rd studio album, which landed in May to critical acclaim. The album garnered notable attention for its bold sonic experimentation, largely thanks to producer BJ Burton’s innovative contributions. As HotPress noted, the album reflects DiFranco’s signature willingness to explore diverse sounds, blending elements like electro-inspired backdrops with her soulful vocals and thoughtful lyrics. The title track itself has been described as a “manifesto” in which DiFranco addresses concerns about the socio-political climate in the U.S. Burton’s avant-garde production adds an unexpected and fresh dimension to DiFranco’s style.

Stereoboard highlighted tracks like “You Forgot to Speak,” where DiFranco’s layered vocals and Burton’s rich production showcase a mesmerizing blend of folk and experimental sounds. The review praised the use of backward samples and unusual textures that give the album a distinctively avant-garde feel while maintaining DiFranco’s strong lyricism and message-driven songwriting.

Joining DiFranco as the evening’s special guest is Anaïs Mitchell, a folk singer-songwriter who has emerged as one of the most vital voices in contemporary music theatre. Mitchell’s critically acclaimed musical Hadestown became a sensation on Broadway, earning her a Tony Award for Best Original Score and a Grammy for Best Musical Theatre Album. A retelling of the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, Hadestown was acclaimed for bringing folk, jazz, and blues to the fore to tell its politically charged story. DiFranco’s recent Broadway stint playing Persephone in Hadestown further strengthens the bond between the two artists, making this upcoming performance an exciting reunion for fans of both.

While Mitchell is perhaps best known for Hadestown, her roots lie in the folk tradition. She has released several solo albums that have drawn comparisons to the likes of Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell. Her work, including the widely praised Young Man in America and The Brightness, explores deeply personal themes with a sharp eye for the political landscape.

Tickets will be available from October 11, with a presale beginning on October 10.

Sheeran said in his post “So I did some surprise pop up gigs in fans houses, secretly recording a live version of Autumn Variations where each song is recorded in a different fans living room, but all of it was a total surprise.” The Instagram teaser also revealed that “The fan living room live Autumn Variations album coming soon, proper album out September 29th go preorder you legends x”.

The pop star’s upcoming seventh album is produced by Aaron Dessner of American band The National, who also worked with Sheeran on his album - (Subtract) which was released in May and marked the end of the singer’s so-called “mathematical era”. In a statement via Rolling Stone, Sheeran spoke on working with Dessner, stating “When I recorded ‘-’ (‘Subtract’) with Aaron Dessner, we clicked immediately. We wrote and recorded non-stop and this album was born out of that partnership. I feel he has captured the feeling of autumn so wonderfully in his sonics and I hope everyone loves it as much as I do.”.

It is said that Sheeran’s upcoming Autumn Variations is inspired by a piece of 19th century orchestral work by composer Edward Elgar, titled Enigma Variations.

Sheeran will be promoting his new album by performing Autumn Variations in full at London’s Royal Albert Hall this November. Tickets are available here.

Recording the live version of Autumn Variations is not the only surprise the “Eyes Closed” singer has given fans recently. Last week, the musician surprised two fans in Las Vegas by giving an unplanned performance at their wedding. For their special day, Sheeran performed the song “Magical” from his upcoming LP. The singer uploaded this moment to his Instagram, with the caption “Crashed a wedding, this is Magical x”

In addition to their tour announcement, the band also revealed their plans to release a live album this month. The Feeling of Falling Upwards – Live from The Royal Albert Hall will be released digitally on 14th April 2023. The fund aims to help struggling venues across the UK keep there doors open, after the massive economic hits that have occurred due to the ongoing global pandemic. The recent round of funding makes the total donations invested to date reach up to £1 billion.

Of the list of venues, many are in London based, with venues such as The Royal Albert Hall, Alexandra Palace, the Southbank Centre, the English National Opera, the Royal Shakespeare Company, and the National Theatre receiving a collected £165million in low-interest repayable finance. However, many Northern venues have also received funding, with venues such as The Factory in Manchester receiving £21 million, Nottingham’s Broadway receiving £144,000, and the Turner Contemporary in Margate receiving £264,000.

UK culture minister, Oliver Dowden spoke positively about the donations, stating that this portion of funding was withheld initially to help health officials assess “changing public health picture. This government promised it would be here for culture, and today’s announcement is proof we’ve kept our word.” Dowden said in a statement.

“The £1 billion invested so far through the Culture Recovery Fund has protected tens of thousands of jobs at cultural organisations across the UK, with more support still to come through a second round of applications. Today we’re extending a huge helping hand to the crown jewels of UK culture, so that they can continue to inspire future generations all around the world.”
