Punk Legends, The Offspring, have announced the release of their newest studio album, which will be titled ‘SUPERCHARGED’. This upcoming record will be the band’s eleventh LP and is the follow-up to their 2021 album ‘Let The Bad Times Roll’. Their first album in three years will be released on the 11th of October via Concord Records and was produced by Bob Rock who has previously produced three albums of The Offspring including their last album.

We’re thrilled to announce that our new album SUPERCHARGED will be released on October 11th! We wanted this record to have pure energy – from the start to the finish! That’s why we called it SUPERCHARGED.

Pre-order/pre-save now + listen to the new single “Make It All Right” at:… pic.twitter.com/Nly1fmQa9x

— The Offspring (@offspring) June 7, 2024

Talking about the production of their upcoming album, frontman Dexter Holland said that ““the album was recorded in three different locations this time around: Maui, Vancouver, and our home studio in Huntington Beach, and together with our producer Bob Rock everything came out awesome. I feel like this is the best we have ever sounded! We’ve been rocking out and head-banging to it for months! And we can’t wait for you guys to hear it!”

The announcement of their forthcoming album came alongside the release of their new single from the record, called ‘Make It All Right’ which is a good first taster of the album. The song is what we tend to expect from Offspring tracks with their signature punk riffs throughout its 3 minute 34 second duration.

Dexter Holland said that when making the album The Offspring “wanted this record to have pure energy – from the start to the finish! That’s why we called it Supercharged. From the height of our aspirations to the depths of our struggles, we talk about it all on this record…in a way that celebrates the life that we share and where we are now.”

He added that the new single, ‘Make It All Right’ “is a great example of this because it talks about the people in our lives who make us feel strong when we are feeling low – our partners in crime who make us feel all right.”

The album also marks the first LP for the band without long time drummer Pete Parada, with Foo Fighters drummer, John Freese, performing on their latest single.

The announcement of their newest album comes just before they are due to perform at Download festival in Leicestershire. Their set will be on Saturday, 15th of June, and will be their first performance in the UK since they headlined Slam Dunk festival in 2023. They also recently performed a set where they brought out Ed Sheeran and performed the track ‘Million Miles Away’ off of their album ‘Conspiracy of One’.

The track list for “Supercharged” is:

01. Looking Out For #1
02. Light It Up
03. The Fall Guy
04. Make It All Right
05. Ok, But This Is The Last Time
06. Truth In Fiction
07. Come To Brazil
08. Get Some
09. Hanging By A Thread

Fans attending the Starmus VII festival in Brastislava, Slovakia, excitedly anticipated Brian May’s guest appearance during The Offspring’s set after it being announced only days earlier.

Day 3 of the festival did not disappoint, as The Offspring stunned audiences with their hits such as ‘Come Out And Play’, and ‘Self-Esteem’. Brian May them graced them with his presence for ‘Gone Away’, and a cover of his own Queen song, ‘Stone Cold Crazy’ alongside the iconic punk band The Offspring for a once in a lifetime performance.

May was also found on stage with Jean-Michel Jarre, the iconic French composer and performer, who holds the record for hosting the most attended performance in history. He joined Jarre on the opening night of the festival, and performed a number of songs with him, including: ‘Deuxième Rendez-Vous’, ‘Last Horizon’, and another Queen cover, ‘Brighton Rock’.

The festival is known as the “world’s largest science, music and other arts festival” and is part of the Sonic Universe concert, after the Stephen Hawking Medal Ceremony, in partnership with ESET, Brian May, a secret astrophysicist, is also co-founder of the festival. This year, the focus of the events was on Planet Earth, featuring four days of exciting lectures. During the festival, they also brought the world renowned Stephen Hawking Medal for Science Communication, which awards individuals in Science Writing, Films & Entertainment, Lifetime Achievement, and Music and Arts. The winners of these awards are decided by the Starmus Advisory Board, which is made up of high-ranking individuals such as: Peter Gabriel, Brian May, and Garik Israelian. Additionally, the festival collaborates with universities and institutions in Slovakia, such as the Slovak Academy of Sciences and the Slovak University of Technology, allowing Starmus to fulfil its “City Program” and providing opportunities for volunteers to be part of the festival.

The California band is one of the longest lasting rock groups. They debuted in 1995 with an album ‘Smash’ that have sold over 40 million records worldwide. It’s been nine years since their last album from 2012 ‘Days Go By’ and since then, they have been thinking about their next release.

Last week The Offspring’s 10th studio album came out, under new record label Concord Records. Dexter Holland said in an interview: “Whenever Bob [Rock, producer] had time to be with us, he’d fly in and we’d meet here in the studio in Huntington Beach and focus on a song or two. He’d usually come out for a couple of weeks. Then we go off on our own ways, come back in and give it a listen with fresh ears and either work on a song we’ve been working on or start something new.”

When asked about the name of the new album, the band said: “Are we trying to say the bad times are still rolling, or is this some sort of referendum on what’s happened in the past few years? We’re still facing a lot of challenges, and I don’t see it going away any time soon. Fingers crossed, we’re getting over the hump, but man, I think the bad times are still rolling.”

The new album ‘Let the Bad Times Roll’ has received three stars review from Kerrang. They described it as “The Offspring as they’ve always been, without apology, sending themselves up as much as tackling really quite serious issues such as the opioid crisis (The Opioid Diaries)”. Adding: “Let The Bad Times Roll represents a welcome return from a band who undoubtedly make the world all the brighter with their presence”.

As part of the celebration of the new album, The Offspring has appeared in video game ‘World of Tanks.
