Yesterday The Hunna released their highly anticipated third studio album I’d Rather Die Than Let You In through LMW Records. The record is available on all streaming platform and can be ordered on stadard CD, LP and tape through the band’s official store. Ambitious and mature, the album deals with the musicians’ growth as a band and rapid rise to fame, issues of love and loss, and handling the problematic split with previous label.

In a special interview for NME, charismatic frontman Ryan Potter discusses the album as being fueled by “a lot of angst, a lot of revenge and it’s about overcoming adversity” and talks about the band facing all problems together and staying true to themselves. The social media post announcing the release shows the newfound attitude and maturity of The Hunna, boldly stating that “anyone who wrote us off is going to be pleasantly surprised“.

It’s been one hell of a ride to get here & we’re so excited to share it with you! We can’t wait to continue this new era of hunna, we’re only getting started. Stream the hell outta this shit & spread the word. H x https://t.co/PzPSIw9rZS pic.twitter.com/sP3Vf9WI5c

I’d Rather Die Than Let You In spans over twelve original songs, starting with the honest introduction ‘One Hell of a Gory Story…‘ and concluding with the energetic alt-rock title track. The album features all of the five singles released so far this year – ‘Cover You‘, ‘Dark Times‘, ‘If This Is Love‘, ‘I Wanna Know‘ and the latest ‘Young & Faded‘, the last two accompanied by official music videos. The record showcases the full range of The Hunna’s abilities and influences, jumping from their signature indie alternative rock and pop punk all the way to the subtle dubstep elemennts in the chorus of ‘Lost‘, the hip-hop beats underlaying the verses in ‘One Day You’ll Thank Me‘ and the heavier guitars on the nu metal-inspired ‘Anything Is Better Than Nothing‘.

The Hunna seem to have found just the right man to channel the angst of the young and faded with producer John Feldman, known as the lead singer and guitarist of California punk/ska veterans Goldfinger and the mastermind behind hugely successful albums by blink-182, The Used, Escape The Fate, Fever 333, Black Veil Brides, Good Charlotte, State Champs and many more. Alongiside Feldman, the Herdforshire quartet’s ambitions and drives have drawn the interest of industry titans like Josh Dun (Twenty One Pilots) assisting them on ‘Dark Times‘, Pete Wenz (Fallout Boy) co-writing ‘One Second Left‘ and Travis Barker (blink-182) himself featuring on the drums for ‘Cover You‘, a clear statement of The Hunna’s place in the contemporary global punk and rock scenes.

With all the hype surrounding the releases of the explosive single ‘I Wanna Know‘ and rebelious anthem ‘Young & Faded‘, alongisde the personal lyrical themes, political charge and experienced production personel, I’d Rather Die Than Let You In is going straight for global success. Their silver-certified debut record 100 from 2016 peaked on #13 and its follow-up Dare from 2018 reached #12 but now, five turbolent years of sell-out shows, headline slots and overcoming legal horrors, The Hunna are set to finally break the top 10 and carry on stronger than ever.

Following the release of the record, the band are going to play a socially distanced acoustic show and a Q&A session at Pryzm in Kingston on 12 October, with tickets still available with album purchase. The Hunna return to live gigs in early 2021 with a UK tour starting in Dublin on 7 April and concluding in Bournemouth on 21 April before embarking on a European tour until mid-May. Follow the band’s official show calendar for tickets and more information.

Rising UK alternative/pop rockers The Hunna dropped their new track ‘Young & Faded’. The single came out as the title track of an EP featuring all four singles released earlier this year, and serving as the fifth and final part in support of their forthcoming third studio album I’d Rather Die to Let You In expected on 2 October 2020 through LMW Records.

The new opening title track captures the angst of a wasted generation and carries all the initial marking of a future arena anthem. With charismatic frontman Ryan Potter singing “We are the young and faded, we are the lost and wasted“, one can hardly imagine a more overused lyrical cliche in the punk rock scene, and yet The Hunna suceed in making the atmospheric and catchy chorus transform the single into an effective and powerful intro to set the tone for the rest of the EP.

‘Young & Faded‘ leads straight into the explosive pop-punk banger ‘I Wanna Know‘ that premiered earlier in July 2020 to a very positive reception. The Hunna slow down the tempo with the more melodic ‘If This is Love‘ featuring guest vocals by Phem before bringing the heat back up with the significantly heavier ‘Dark Times’, both singles released in May.

Last track ‘Cover Me’ was the first to be premiered this year as an announcement for the upcoming studio album and sees them teaming up with the legendary Traves Barker from Blink-182. Ignoring the fact that these days the drummer will feature with just about anyone, there is no doubt about his talent and legacy, and the colaboration adds variety and depth while serving as a clear statement of The Hunna’s place in the contemporary pop punk and rock scenes.

In addition to their rapidly rising international reputation, The Hunna were chosen as the main headliner of this year’s Heavy Music Awards. In an exclusive online ceremony, the quartet delivered a memorable performance of ‘I Wanna Know‘ and ‘Dark Times‘ with the confidence and stage presence of an established stadium headliner, showcasing their signature blend of relentless rock energy, rebelious punk attitude and pop sensibility.

Each year, a panel of hundreds of industry specialists select the nominees for all categories, celebrating the best of the British and international heavy music scene, including bands, albums, producers, photographers and festivals. The final nominees are officially announced by the end of February for the public to vote online in the following months. Voters are usually entered into a prize draw for tickets for the live ceremony, which unfortunately will not take place this year due to the current restrictions.

Traditionally, an additional Young Photographer of the Year award is announced earlier when the rest of the finalists are reavealed. This year Dani Wilgress won the prize for his image of Yungblud at the O2 Academy Brixton after several thousand people voted in January.

Following critical acclaim, since their launch in 2015, have revealed the rescheduled UK tour dates for 2019. The band were set to hit the road in January, but due to unforeseen circumstances the band postponed all up-coming live shows. However, the Hertfordshire-based band have now revealed that they will hitting the road in April 2019. The band are scheduled to kick start their tour in Cardiff, on the 1st of April 2019 and will bring it to a close in Norwich, on the 10th of April 2019.

In a statement, posted to the bands social media, they said: “For the past year or so many decisions have been made on our behalf which we were unhappy about and were not within our control. We believe these decisions have impacted negatively upon not only ourselves but also our fans. Having taken legal advice we have decided we need to take a stand.

“One of the consequences of making that decision is that we have had to re schedule all of our upcoming shows for the early part of next year. Please hold on to your tickets… More details to follow soon. We will be back in 2019 with new music and tours and things will finally be done right. We hope we will see you there and get back to what’s important… Connecting with all of you in a room and getting lost in something special.”

The Hunna are a British band from Hertfordshire, consisting of Ryan Potter, Dan Dorney, Jermaine Angin and Jack Metcalfe. The quartet formed in 2015, and released their debut single, ‘Bonfire’, the same year. Their debut album, ‘100’, was released in 2016 via High Time Records and 300 Entertainment. They released the single ‘Summer’ in September 2017. They have headlined their own shows and tours across the UK and have previously supported the likes of Coasts. Their latest album ‘Dare’ was released in May 2018, which they supported with tours across the UK, Europe, North America and Australia.

The Hunna can’t wait to get back on stage in the UK, with frontman Ryan Potter saying: “We have had such a great 2016 and 2017. Selling out shows across the country and getting our debut album. ‘100’, into the top 15 was an incredible achievement and we can’t thank the fans enough for helping us get to this stage. Being able to step up to the awesome O2 Academy Brixton is next-level, and we guarantee that the fans that come down are in for a huge treat, as well as a few cool surprises on the UK tour!”
