The English “Fire Woman” rock band, The Cult, have just landed a new selection of tour dates coming up this summer. Coming back this year after their recent release of their 11th studio album Under The Midnight Sun. Released in October last year and welcomed happily by their listeners, the band come together again to give their fans an anticipated live show of the album.

In June their journey will commence touring through cities around Europe. On the 14th June they arrive at Brussels to kick off their tour. They will then proceed to wander their way through Stuttgart, Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, Lausanne, Budapest, Kragujevac, Zagreb and Pordenone. Once they’ve finished in Croatia they will be bouncing back to the UK. The Cult will be well received by Cardiff on the 4th July, Halifax on the 5th of July, Scarborough on the 6th of July and their finishing line comes as a surprise. Across the pond, Sacramento will be the privileged city to give the band their last standing ovation later on the 5th October.

The frontman of the band, Ian Astbury, defines the making of Under The Midnight Sun as “It is a different animal. It destroys ‘Hidden City’ and anything else we’ve done in quite a while. We dug deep and put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into this record”. In an interview on Rock Antenne he amusingly hints that he was the only hard worker within the creation of the project. Working within a team – the band – is clear to be tricky sometimes. “Yeah, there was a pandemic within the band. It’s like most family’s – it’s a mess” he chuckles.

To not cut the announcement of good news short, they have released a new music video alongside their tour dates drop. The video is an engulfing representation of the enigmatic and dark side of the song. This workpiece is the creation of their longtime collaborator Juan Azulay, well known for his exotic and powerful creations.

The album is a creation from a stilled lockdown. A moment to breathe the heart in and, according to Ian Astbury, recalculate his thoughts as well as analyse the feeling he assumed when he found himself “under the midnight sun”. He recalls this moment from when he was in Finland. “It’s three in the morning, the sun’s up, and there’s all these beautiful people in this halcyon moment,” Astbury recalls. “People are laying on the grass, making out, drinking, smoking. There were rows of flowers at the front of the stage from the performances earlier that evening.

Having been engrossed by this transfixing moment, they collectively worked towards turning the latter into musical shape and frequency.

Tickets for The Cult tour are on sale here.

Having spent more than a decade wowing audiences all over the world they have produced possibly their greatest work to date with Slave Vows getting plaudits from all over the music world. With frontman Joe Cardamone still with a warped musical mind the group continue to impress critics with epic songs covering all genres of rock music.

In a further treat for fans they have also released a video for No Money Music, a two minute track from Slave Vows. The video shows a couple engrossed in a romantic encounter, with a bit of friction seemingly between the two. Shot from a CCTV perspective, its a quirky video, for quite a quirky song. With the video being produced by bass player Larne Arnao, it is another sign that The Icarus Line are a hugely talented band who deserve your attention.

The Icarus Line tour the UK this October and November. For a night of legendary music, you will know where to go.

Aug 19: The Ritz, Manchester

Aug 20: KOKO, London

Released in January, True North has been hailed as Bad Religion’s best release in the last 10 years. The band worked on new material after their 2011 tour to support their 2010 album The Dissent of Man. Lead singer Greg Graffin hinted at a breakup although later this turned out to be not the case.

In May, bassist and co-founder Jay Bentley issued a statement on the band’s official website about their guitarist Greg Hetson.

““Greg Hetson is dealing with some personal issues, if he wishes to make a statement we will support that, if he chooses not to we will support that. Mike Dimkich is indeed helping us out right now, and we are genuinely appreciative. Right now we are just looking forward and getting ready to play our shows.”

Dimkich, rhythm guitarist for The Cult, will be covering for Hetson for the remainder of the tour.
