Courteeners who formed in 2006 quickly became popular and from starting off playing in small clubs, they now selling out big arenas. They debuted in 2008 with the album “St Jude” that peaked at No.4 in UK Charts. After that they have released six more studio albums, where the last one “More.Again.Forever.” from 2020 reached No.2 on the Charts.
The latest album received great reviews, with NME award it four stars and calling it: “their most focussed and adventurous work to date” and The Guardian described it: “a solid and dependable, rather than a source of head-spinning shocks and thrills: it knows its audience, and it knows better than to confound them if you want to keep bucking trends and filling arenas”.
Meanwhile, Liam Fray has partnered with The Smithfield Social and opened a new restaurant on 12th April in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. He partnered up with friends – Jobe Ferguson of the Liar’s Group and TNQ, and Anthony Fielden also of TNQ. Fielden commented on the project: “We’ve all had a huge input in all elements of the project, Liam and Jobe have got really involved in the food side. We’ve basically done everything together.”

Sports Team are set to be the Friday headliners, bringing their brand of indie bangers to Norfolk. Sports Team are gearing up for the release of a demos and unreleased material LP, ‘Plant Test’ that is available only through independent record shops. Sports Team also recently dropped a new single, ‘Happy (God’s Own Country’).

The Big Moon are due to take part, their second album ‘Walking Like We Do’ was released as the country was on the verge of lockdown, so they’re doubtlessly itching to get their groove on in the live arena again. Post-punkers Do Nothing are on the line up, their second EP ‘Glueland’ was a real hit amongst fans, plus some other superb bands including Regressive Left, Vanity Fairy and many, many more.

Big big thanks to @jonjolowe @robrear and their wonderful team for the hard work and wizardry. Also, we’ve moved our autumn tour to March 2021 (swipe for the new dates).
Originally set to take place in October, the tour will now move to March 2021, so fans will have plenty to look forward to. As the group said in a post from March when some of their European shows were cancelled, “Our industry is built on bringing people together and making you feel less weird or alone or scared. While physical social distancing is important right now please continue to find ways to support each other and the musicians who bring you joy.”

After The Big Moon’s sophomore album ‘Walking Like We Do’ was released earlier this year, the tour was arranged to follow, with performances of all eleven tracks including singles ‘It’s Easy Then’, ‘Your Light’, ‘Take A Piece’, and ‘Barcelona’. The album reached number 19 on the UK Albums Chart, with a wonderful reception from fans.

Along with the tour announcement, The Big Moon shared their homemade music video for ‘Why’ – another track from the record. While they were unfortunately unable to film anything prior to lockdown, the four members – Juliette Jackson (lead vocals, guitar), Soph Nathan (guitar), Celia Archer (bass), Fern Ford (drums) – have worked with director and editor Jonjo Lowe to create a music video which has already reached 2,500 views.

Besides this, from isolation the band has been working to save live music and change the future of the music industry since it’s been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic. As an all-girl band themselves, The Big Moon have been working with Girls Rock London to provide music education for “girls, women, trans and non-binary people in London,” and help them find their voices. Both bassist Celia Archer and lead vocalist and guitarist Juliette Jackson are offering lessons in their respective instruments to followers for just £20, with all proceeds going to Girls Rock London.

London four-piece The Big Moon have released a video for their track, ‘Formidable’, as well as announcing a UK Tour for 2017.

Formidable is a song the band have had in the bank for some time. They made it part of their live set before eventually releasing it as a single earlier this month. Speaking to DIY, Jules Jackson said that the track is, ‘one of our favourite songs to play, and it’s also one of my favourite songs that I’ve written.’ She added, ‘Sometimes when you write things, the lyrics might clash with the music; one might be happy, while the other’s sad. But I love it when it all ties together. The song is about being strong for someone who’s going through a hard time, and it’s saying ‘I’m here, you can talk to me, I’ll be strong for you, you don’t have to hold it inside. The music feels like that. It feels big and chesty, like someone scooping you up in their arms.’

The band also explained, via Clash, their inspiration for the new video; ”Formidable’ is a song that’s important to us all and it felt like for once, it wasn’t appropriate to make a mega fun, LOLZ video. That said, we didn’t want to make a super earnest band video either. We had a day off in between cities on our autumn tour so we drove to the beautiful Peak District and smashed out the song in the back of the van. It’s a van that we’ve spent more time in than our own beds over the last year. The wonderful Louis Bhose was once again the creative visionary at the helm of this video. We hope you like it.’ You can check out the video, which, true to The Big Moon’s word, prominently features a van, below and find out if you do:

The news comes after the group confirmed the forthcoming release of their debut album, ‘Love In The 4th Dimension’, earlier this month. The album, which was co-produced by Juliette Jackson, of The Big Moon, and Catherine Marks, who has previously worked with artists including The Killers, Foals and Wolf Alice, will be released on 7th April on Fiction Records. The album will include ‘Formidable’, which now has a video obviously, as well as previously released singles, ‘Sucker’, ‘Cupid’ and ‘The Road.’

As well as a new video, The Big Moon have also revealed they will embark on a 10 date UK Tour next year, beginning a couple of weeks after the release of ‘Love In The 4th Dimension.’ The full schedule can be found below:
