The Who, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and The Chemical Brothers are all set to headline the event that is set to return to the Royal Albert Hall this coming March.

— Teenage Cancer Trust (@TeenageCancer) January 8, 2024

The event will kick off on Monday, March 18, with The Who, backed by an orchestra, and special guests Squeeze. There will be a night of comedy on Tuesday, March 19, with the full line-up to be announced soon, and Wednesday, March 20 will see The Who and Squeeze welcomed back to the Royal Albert Hall for the second time. Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will then perform on Thursday, March 21, along with indie rock special guests Blossoms.

Friday, March 22 will see Scottish progressive hip-hop group Young Fathers kick off the weekend, followed by a headline Saturday show from The Chemical Brothers, alongside DJ James Holroyd, on March 23. The week-long fundraising extravaganza will conclude on Sunday, March 24 with an Ovation, bringing together the likes of Roger Daltrey, Kelly Jones, Paul Weller, Robert Plant, Pete Townshend and Eddie Vedder to commemorate 24 successful years of performing live music for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

The celebrations come with a hint of sadness, however, as this year’s event will see Roger Daltrey stepping down from his role as curator for the Teenage Cancer Trust annual concerts. Since starting in 2000, performing at the first live Teenage Cancer Trust gig with his band, The Who frontman Daltrey has been at the centre of every annual celebration. He has unceasingly inspired countless musicians to come together and perform for a very special cause year upon year, and he will now allow a series of guest curators to take up the task.

Noel Gallagher, on the positive impact the Teenage Cancer Trust has had, said, ‘The TCT continue to make a real difference to teenagers in what undoubtedly must be the most challenging years of their lives. Having performed at the very first event back in 2000 it is a charity very close to my heart. 24 years and counting is a triumph in itself. NGHFB will be there en masse. Together we will make the night unique. I’d buy a ticket if I were you.”

Tickets go on sale from 9am Friday January 12 and will be available to purchase here.

The Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall have announced the acts set to headline, with Tom Grennan revealed as one of the headline acts. The gigs, which raise much-needed funds for the organisation, will take place from Monday the 25th of March to Sunday the 31st of March 2019.

Speaking about his headline slot, Grennan said: “It’s a real honour for me to play a show on behalf of Teenager Cancer Trust and raise money and awareness for so many courageous young people! To tread the boards of the Royal Albert Hall will be a life ambition ticked off for me, and to do it for Teenage Cancer Trust make it that extra special – thank you to Roger Daltrey and the team for giving me this opportunity.”

The announcement included the acts that are set to headline the gigs, with Tom Grennan, the latest headline act to be announced, will grace the stage, on Wednesday the 27th of March 2019. Tickets for Tom Grennan’s gig will go on sale, on Friday the 14th of December, at 9am. You can grab them from the Royal Albert Hall website. He will be joined by one of the most successful bands in British history, Take That, who will perform, on Thursday the 28th of March 2019.

Director of Fundraising at Teenage Cancer Trust, Liz Tait said: “We’re so excited to announce this incredible line-up. These amazing shows not only bring together some of the world’s biggest names in music, but also raise vital funds to support young people facing the chaos of cancer through our 28 specialist teenage cancer units in NHS hospitals across the UK, led by expert nurses and support staff. For every young person we reach, there’s another we can’t, so every penny raised through the gigs is crucial. As always, we’re incredibly grateful to our honorary patron Roger Daltrey CBE, who is the driving force behind the Royal Albert Hall shows. And it’s great that tickets are on sale just in time for Christmas!”

Joining Grennan and Take That will be award winning Rudimental and Ghetts – both performing, on Monday the 25th of March 2019, indie heroes Doves – will be performing, on Friday the 29th of March 2019, The Script – will grace the stage, on Saturday the 30th of March 2019, and Levellers – are set to perform, on Sunday the 31st of March 2019, with more acts to be announced soon.

Money raised by these gigs will support young people with cancer to make sure they get the treatment and support they need. This year’s shows are supported by sponsors Tangle Teezer and American Airlines. Tickets went on sale, on the 7th of December 2018, and can be purchased at the Royal Albert Hall website or here.

Roger Daltry, The Who frontman, has been an honorary patron of the charity for 20 years and is heavily involved with picking the artists that perform at the concert series. Speaking about the concert series, Daltry said: “Many people will not be aware that Teenage Cancer Trust is a charity that receives no government funding and is dependent on raising money from the public to provide vital wards and nursing care which are a lifeline for young people with cancer.

“I’m incredibly grateful to all of the artists who’ve given up time in their busy schedules to help young people with cancer get the specialist care they deserve. Looking back, we’ve had so many unforgettable moments at the shows over the years and these moments are amplified by the wonderful young people with cancer I have met. I’m consistently overwhelmed by their positivity in the face of a life changing circumstance. They are the reason we strive to make these shows the very best we can and this year will be no different.”
