As previously reported, the Minecraft Festival, organized by Block By Blockwest, raised funds for the CDC last Saturday, (April 25). As well as Massive Attack, support came in the form of Pussy Riot, IDLES. Fever 333 and Sports Team. Other performers billed included Nothing,Nowhere, HEALTH, Cherry Glazerr, and Sir Sly further.

Elsewhere, Cannibal Kids, Dangerboy, Against The Current, and Los Shadows were scheduled for performances at the gig.

So, everything was going swimmingly until the servers crashed, and it forced the video game festival’s postponement. As a result, the event has been rescheduled for May 16. In the beginning, there were 30,000 online. This rose to 100,000 after the first hour. Plus, the target of $5,000 was raised for the CDC charity.

A post was released on the Block By Blockwest website, reading: “On a lighter note… We reached our VIP donation goal of $5,000. Thank you to all who contributed.”

They added: “We look forward to sharing the true vision of the event with you all on May 16th.”

Recently, Massive Attack donated £10,000 to a crowdfunding campaign. The aim of the campaign is to provide free meals to NHS staff, as well as frontline workers during the pandemic.

An announcement was made by The Bristol Food Union. A Twitter post, (seen below), reads that the ‘Paradise Circus’ hitmakers have “extremely generously boosted the #FeedTheFrontLine campaign with a mega £10k – so much love!”

Massive Attack announced their European tour would be completed by train, as a way to tackle the effect of climate change.
Developed by Mojang, Minecraft was released in 2009 to critical acclaim. As of May 2019, according to IGN, Minecraft had shifted more than 175 million copies.

An announcement was made by The Bristol Food Union. A Twitter post, (seen below), reads that the ‘Paradise Circus’ hitmakers have “extremely generously boosted the #FeedTheFrontLine campaign with a mega £10k – so much love!”

‘Feed The Frontline’ was only launched two weeks ago by The Union, a collective gathering of restaurant businesses and farmers.

Back to their roots, @MassiveAttackUK Attack extremely generously boosted the #FeedTheFrontLine campaign with a mega £10k – so much love! In combination with your support and community spirit we’re #StrongerTogether.

— Bristol Food Union (@bristolfooduni) April 7, 2020

In the description, it reads: “The Bristol restaurant community want to make sure that all frontline workers delivering long and difficult hours, don’t have to worry about cooking healthy, nutritious meals for themselves or their families,”

The statement adds: “While our restaurants are closed, we have created secure production kitchens around Bristol. Each day we will cook as many meals as we can afford and make them available to frontline staff completely free of charge.”

So, it’s a testament to the kindness of people during these difficult times. This afternoon, the campaign broke £20,000, their original target. They ask for people to donate “the cost of a meal (£6), or any amount you can afford, to ensure that we can produce free meals to keep them going, while they’re busy saving our lives.”

Recently, Massive Attack announced they’d be completing their European tour by train, in a bid to fight climate change. A venue and date have not yet been set.

The band intend to make their festivals carbon neutral, or as close as possible. They aim for a “dramatic reduction” in their carbon impact, from all sides of their music set up, (crew, catering, transport, merchandise, and production).

Back in April, Massive Attack performed at an Extinction Rebellion protest at London’s Marble Arch, as seen above from social media footage. A number of arrests were made earlier in the day, (April 21), with protestors being removed from Waterloo Bridge.

The ‘Paradise Circus’ duo’s performance came during the second week of non-violent civil disobedience demonstrations in the capital. Actress Emma Thompson and TV presenter/naturalist Chris Packham were among the crowds involved in the protest.

Having only launched in July, the campaign has now amassed over 2,250 artists and figures within the music industry.

In signing up, Mystery Jets singer Blaine Harrison declared: “We need to be the soundtrack to change.”
