Canadian singer-songwriter, Tate McRae, has wrapped up her UK and Europe shows for her Miss Possessive world tour. Her European and UK leg started in May with shows in Madrid, Dublin, London, Glasgow, Manchester, Copenhagen, Berlin, and Vienna. This past week, she went back to the UK, performing at London’s O2 Arena for the second time on June 24 and Manchester on June 25, ending her UK shows.

Her set list included songs ‘Miss possessive’, ‘Purple lace bra’, ‘Revolving door’, ‘Sports Car’, ‘It’s ok I’m ok’, and ‘Greenlight’ from her most recent album, as well as songs from past albums and singles such as ‘Greedy’, ‘exes’, ‘run for the hills’, and ‘you broke me first’.

Tate McRae incorporated her dancer background, trained in various styles from a young age, into her shows and gave energetic, top-tier choreography. Most notably, her songs ‘2 Hands’, ‘Greedy’, ‘It’s ok I’m ok’, and ‘exes’ include a dance break, as well as using the stage and props like a chair for her song ‘Sports Car’. She also uses the help of her many talented backup dancers to create the choreography in full, all while singing.

She also interacted with her audience, sharing personal stories and created a more intimate atmosphere and emotional connection. The artist was praised for both her strong vocals and presence on stage. Her shows continued to help solidify her as the rising pop star of this generation.

Oasis have emerged as the surprise frontrunners in this week’s race for number one. A special vinyl reissue celebrating the 30th anniversary of ‘Whatever‘ is currently on track to reclaim the top spot. Originally released on December 18, 1994, the non-album single previously peaked at number three.

However, Liam and Noel Gallagher still face tough competition. Last week’s chart leader, Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’, is trailing by just 500 chart units (number two), while Chappell Roan’s ‘Pink Pony Club’ remains a strong contender at number three.

Currently, Lamar‘s ‘Not Like Us‘ is topping the charts for the first time, having charted at number two last week, after a long climb that peaked after the artist’s much acclaimed Super Bowl Half time Show. It is the artist’s first song to achieve the number one position in the UK, after two albums have also claimed number one, most recently his latest release titled ‘GNX‘.

Chappell Roan‘s ‘Pink Pony Club‘ has also been climbing charts, and it has to yet to achieve the number one position. It debuted in mid-September of last year and currently the number three position is the highest it has ever been. If it achieved the number one position, it would mark the artist’s first song to ever do so, after ‘Good Luck Babe’ peaked at number two last year. ‘The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess‘, Chappell Roan’s debut album, has spent various non-consecutive weeks at number one.

Currently, Official Charts predicts Oasis’s ‘Whatever’ as number one, ‘Not Like Us’ by Lamar at number two, Chappell Roan at number three, Lady Gaga with ‘Abracadabra‘ at number four, and Benson Boone’s ‘Beautiful Things’ at number five. They also predict that chart topper ‘Messy’, currently charting at number two, will fall off the charts at the tenth position.

Furthermore, American singer Tate McRae could see a significant boost following the release of ‘So Close to What’. Her track ‘sports car‘ is on course to reach a new peak inside the Top 10 at number six, while ‘Revolving Door’ is set for a strong debut in the Top 20 at number seventeen.

Sam Fender’s ‘People Watching‘ is expected to re-enter the Top 10 after the release of his highly anticipated third album. Meanwhile, ‘Arm’s Length’ could climb higher, currently charting at number 13, and ‘Little Bit Closer’ is poised to make its chart debut. Official Charts has named Fender’s latest release the album with the biggest opening of the year with only a few days of tracking.

Another new entry to charts is expected to be Selena Gomez’s collaboration with fiancé Benny Blanco and rising pop star Gracie Abrams, ‘Call Me When You Break Up’, which is projected to debut on charts this week, marking Selena’s first Top 20 single in six years.

Beyond the UK, the ‘Miss Possessive’ tour will see McRae performing across various continents, including North America, Europe, and South America. The North American leg has been extended through October and November 2025, with new cities such as Phoenix, Seattle, St. Louis, Chicago, and Houston added to the itinerary.
Tate McRae’s journey to stardom began with her viral dance videos on her YouTube “Create with Tate”, showcasing her talent and captivating choreography. Her breakthrough came however with the 2020 single ‘you broke me first’, which established her as a rising force in the pop music scene with a similarity to Brittany Spears.. Since then, McRae has continued to ascend, earning multiple JUNO Award nominations and releasing chart-topping albums.

Her 2022 debut album ‘I Used to Think I Could Fly’ was a major moment in her career, solidifying her as one of pop’s brightest new stars. The album featured hits like ‘she’s all i wanna be’ and ‘feel like sh*t’, which showcased her ability to blend raw emotion with slick, modern pop production. The record reached number seven in the Official Charts and has set the stage for her upcoming third album, ‘So Close to What’, set for release on February 21, 2025.

As part of the album, McRae recently dropped ‘Sports Car’, the latest single from the project. Released on January 24, 2025, the track takes on a smooth, hypnotic sound with dreamy synths and an understated beat. McRae’s vocals glide effortlessly over the production, giving the song a late-night, intoxicating feel. Lyrically, ‘Sports Car’ captures themes of desire, longing, and recklessness, painting a picture of someone caught up in the rush of a sexual romance with lyrics such as, “And if it feels right, We could go again like three, four times”. The accompanying music video, directed byBardia Zeinali, adds to this with iconic high-fashion visuals, reflecting McRae’s continued artistic evolution.

As Tate McRae continues to captivate audiences worldwide with her emotive performances and relatable songwriting, the expanded ‘Miss Possessive’ tour promises to be a highlight of 2025. With a highly anticipated album on the way and a tour that spans multiple continents, there is no doubt this year will propel her even further into stardom.

As another year in music comes to an end, telecoms tycoon Virgin Media O2 have unveiled important analysis of this year’s live events according to O2’s Priority Tickets scheme. Not only did O2 provide a breakdown of all the artists that contributed to the all-important figures, but they also emphasised it was a recording-breaking year for consumers using the ticket reward scheme.

It was reported that 1.54 million tickets were sold via O2 Priority between January and November of this year – this is a remarkable 12% increase from the same time period in 2023.

O2 and Virgin Media customers are granted with the Priority Tickets reward platform, which enables them to have exclusive early access to the sale of tickets to some of the biggest events in the UK. Along with this, members can receive other benefits including VIP Hospitality packages, queue jump and a range of discounts.

Over 1.54 million tickets were sold January to November – a 12% increase on the same time period in 2023.

The biggest selling tours of 2024 according to the level of Priority Tickets sold, reveals the UK have an eclectic taste when it concerns entertainment.

Dua Lipa was crowned the top spot on the list. The pop sensation released her third album, ‘Radical Optimism’ this year alongside the announcement of a 2025 world tour, named after the LP. With her own ITV Special and memorable hits like ‘Houdini’ and ‘Training Season’, it is no surprise Lipa claims this spot. As the highest-selling artist on the list, it should be noted that the ticket sales for her upcoming tour were partnered with O2’s priority platform, announced through an enticingly iconic ‘Walk’ ad to increase hype for the events.

Lipa’s runner-up was none other than legendary British comedian Peter Kay. As a much-loved comedian in the UK, Kay’s upcoming tour will consist of a residency at London’s prestigious O2 Arena; with many sold out dates on this tour and some fans reporting being over 20,000 in the queue for tickets, extra shows have been added to meet demand.

Despite only announcing her tour at the end of November, Lana Del Rey claimed the third spot on the list. The forthcoming tour will mark the ‘Video Games’ singer’s first stadium tour in the UK and will be some of the first shows to witness performances of tracks from her unreleased album ‘The Right Person Will Stay’.

Other artists on the list include Usher, who continues to ride the success of his halftime performance at this year’s Super Bowl in February, along with Billie Eilish, who released her third album ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’ this year and has spent the last few months touring the album in the US.

Gareth Griffiths, Director of Partnerships and Sponsorship at Virgin Media O2 commented on the success of this year’s O2 Priority Tickets reward platform: “There have been massive tours announced this year, ones that will go on to define an entire generation of music and entertainment.”

He continued: “With a relentless demand from O2 and Virgin Media broadband customers for access to live shows, we’re now seeing Priority Tickets smash its own sale records again this year”.

As the future remains hopeful for the continued success of Priority Tickets, it must be emphasised this comes at a time when ticket-buying experiences have become excruciating for fans who wait in online queues for hours or have to deal with dynamic pricing at checkout. Priority Tickets aims to create a hassle-free ticket-buying experience for its customers and gig-goers.
