It was confirmed today that Red Hot Chili Peppers and Calvin Harris will be joining previously announced act The Stone Roses in headlining T In The Park festival. This year’s festival takes place at Strathallan Castle, Perthshire (Scotland), from 8th July to 10th July. Today’s announcement completes the line up for this year’s headlining acts – with The Stone Roses headlining the Friday night, The Red Hot Chili Peppers performing on Saturday night and Calvin Harris closing the festival on the Sunday night.

According to NME, CEO of T In The Park Geoff Ellis revealed:

Having listened to fans and festival-goers tell us who they want to see at Strathallan we worked hard to get those bands on the bill and we’re thrilled to unveil our outstanding line up for 2016.

Only several weeks ago it was speculated that this year’s T In The Park was in danger of being cancelled after a hefty amount of issues concerning last year’s festival emerged, with the main issues being the effect on nearby residents as well as crowd control both on and off site. Fortunately for ticket holders, this year’s festival seems set to go ahead with a bang, reigniting its former reputation as a respected event boasting some of the best acts that live music has to offer. Ellis outlined some of the improvements to be made this year, promising that traffic plans will be reworked and that experienced professionals will be working to ensure that the security on and off site will help make the experience a smooth and enjoyable one for festival goers and local residents.

Other acts to perform at this year’s festival include:

Bastille

The 1975

Disclosure

Faithless

James Bay

LCD Soundsystem

Catfish And The Bottlemen

The Last Shadow Puppets

Jake Bugg

Jess Glynne

Kaiser Chiefs

Frank Turner

Jamie xx

The much anticipated time has finally come for The Stone Roses fans as the Manchester-formed rock band announced a return to the stage with two massive headlining gigs (Via NME). This is shocking news to fans across the globe as the last time they performed together was at their international reunion tour in 2013.

The creators of the iconic hit “I am The Resurrection” have announced a return to the stage for two concerts at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium in June, but if that wasn’t enough they will also be headlining Scotland’s T in the Park festival on Friday July 8, 2016.

Via Twitter, they posted a photo of the vibrant tour poster, revealing they would be joined by special guests for the two shows at the home of football team Manchester City on Friday 17 and Saturday 18 June alongside headlining one of the biggest UK festivals.

pic.twitter.com/TZo1tmssGm

— The Stone Roses (@thestoneroses) November 2, 2015

The four piece rock band – which includes Ian Brown, John Squire, Mani and Reni have proven to be an iconic part of music history, selling out gigs across the globe from Mexico to the UAE as seen with their previous international tour. Furthermore, the likes of many documentaries have been set around The Stone Roses and even an artistically beautiful film created by Christopher Coghill that centers around a group of passionate teens that idolize the well-known band.

As seen in a previous article on mxdwn, the announcement was shortly revealed after a series of posters consisting of lemons were seen around many record stores in Manchester, all mysteriously appearing in sets of sixteen. A spokesperson from Manchester’s Vinyl Revival shop told NME that they were “sworn to secrecy about an announcement due in the next 24 hours.”

And surely enough within the next 24 hours, the revelation was made sending a surge of excitement across fans in the UK. Tickets go on sale on November the 6th at 9:30am so if you’re a fan of The Stone Roses, make sure you get your tickets as soon as they come out as I can safely guarantee they will sell out rapidly! The Stone Roses are actually the first act to be announced for T in the Park 2016, which is set to take place from the 8th – 10th July 2016 at Strathallan Castle and they will make an appearance on the Friday night.

FRIDAY 17th & SATURDAY 18th JUNE – MANCHESTER ETIHAD STADIUM
FRIDAY 8th JULY – T IN THE PARK, SCOTLAND

Scotland’s biggest annual music festival, which pulls a crowd of over 85,000 people each day over three days, has announced its new home at Strathallan Castle in Perthshire.

Last year saw the 20 year anniversary of T in the Park, which has grown over the years to become the fifth largest greenfield festival in the world. News today has revealed that this year will be the last that the festival will be held at the abandoned Balado airfield in Kinross.

This comes after news earlier this year of health and safety officials being concerned about a gas pipeline which had been situated underneath the main stage. T in the park has been resident at Balado for 18 years but organisers are excited to see it moved to the picturesque Strathallan Castle which is situated around 18 miles away from abandoned airfield.

For those attending the up-and-coming Kelburn Garden Party next week will enjoy a festival which is overlooked by the stunning Kelburn Castle, something which the attendees of next year’s T In The Park can look forward to with the majestic Strathallan Castle being a new focal point for the festival.

This year hopes to pull another staggering audience with artists such as Arctic Monkeys, Biffy Clyro, Jake Bugg, Calvin Harris, Paolo Nutini, Manic Street Preachers and many others to play for the last time in the green pastures of Balado field.
We hope Strathallan Castle provides unique home for the festival, and look forward to seeing the castle shine above the thousands of fans who flock to get down and dirty amidst the mayhem at T in the Park every year.

Today marks the 20th anniversary of Scottish super-festival T in the Park. Launched by promotions conglomerate Big Day Out Ltd in Strathclyde Park, 1994, it was an instant success boasting diverse headline acts such as Rage Against the Machine, Blur, Bjork, House of Pain, James Taylor, as well as Oasis and Primal Scream, not bad for a debut year. Despite an early flutter of financial palpations it is now widely known as one of the most prestigious festivals in Britain, enjoying its final situation in Kinross-shire catering to over 85,000 attendees, after the original sites dissolution by a supermarket in 1997.

Close to Loch Levin, famous for its research into ecology and hydrology, T in the Park was obviously inspired by Scotland’s freshwater ‘jewel in the crown’ and is now one of the only two Carbon Neutral festivals in the UK. Continuing its commitment to the community, T in the Park is also renowned for it’s facilitation of new talent. The T-break stage is famous for championing acts such as Snow Patrol, Paulo Nuntini and Biffy Clyro, now all international giants. This year sees the arrival of Bieber-beating band Mumford and Sons, who seem spoilt for choice after their recent Glastonbury experience, Rihanna, The Killers, Snoop-Dog and 3 dimensional legends Kraftwerk. It’s always a slight surprise when airbrushed pop stars join the fray, but this sparkling edition seems suited to such glamour, not to mention the intriguing Scottish Sun Cabaret Club and other extra-musical entertainment, who’ll be dousing the proceedings in carnival glitter all weekend. It’s sure to be a blast across all seven stages and as the Scots are well known for their weather tolerance, it seems nothing can diminish the jubilant proceedings.
