The hotly anticipated new album marks the Welsh rockers’ latest musical endeavour since 2022’s ‘Oochyah!’

The ‘Maybe Tomorrow’ hit makers shared the announcement on their Instagram page January 30, alongside teasing the debut single ‘There’s Always Gonna Be Something’, giving fans a taste of what’s to come. This latest track reflects the band’s signature sound, marrying melodic guitar riffs and suspended bass lines with the familiar husky vocals of frontman, Kelly Jones.

Jones labels the track as an exploration of inner turmoil and resilience, stating: “‘There’s Always Gonna Be Something’ is a song that could be describing the restlessness in uncertainty, struggling to arrive at acceptance. A part within us all.”

The Dakota singer also shared the inspiration behind the cover art, saying: “I went to New York, visited some galleries, and saw ‘ART IS A GUARANTY OF SANITY’ by Louise Bourgeois. The simplicity of the words etched onto a pink tile struck me. I tried scratching my title in a similar way, inspired by my own art school teacher from thirty years ago. And I loved it. The simplicity of the pink. The pink album was born.”

Stereophonics have demonstrated themselves to be one of the most successful Welsh rock acts over the past twenty years, achieving six multi-platinum album certifications and selling 15 million copies worldwide. This summer, the band will embark on their most ambitious world tour yet, with show dates in the UK starting as early as May. See ya there for more good times.” Fans of ‘Phonics can expect to hear classics spanning from the award-winning ‘Performance and Cocktails’ (1999) and ‘Just Enough Education to Perform’ (2001), as well as singles from the latest album.

Kelly Jones’ band Far From Saints has announced a headline show at London Lafayette next month in support of their upcoming self-titled debut album. The Stereophonics founding member has joined with Patty Lynn and Dwight Baker of Austin’s The Wind and the Wave to form the Americana band.

The trio will be playing London Layette on the 12th June just three days before the supergroup%u2019s first album is released. Tickets go on sale on Friday 19th May at 9 am. For tickets and more information see here.

Far From Saints have a busy summer ahead of them with several sold-out shows and festivals on their schedules. The band will be playing gigs in Glasgow, Leeds, London, Tetbury, and Rugeley as well as Glastonbury, Latitude, and Black Deer Festival this year. At the end of this month, the trio will also be appearing as the special guests for Kings of Leon during their two-day residency at The Racecourse Ground in Wrexham.

Behind the scenes of Jones’ 2019 solo UK, the trio first started experimenting together. The Wind and the Wave, who were supporting Kelly, joined the musician on a cover of Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty’s “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” which snowballed into their debut album – recorded in just nine days.

The band’s debut album will be released on the 16th June. Pre-save the album here.

“We never really said to each other, ‘What are we writing about here?’ It was much more about chasing an atmosphere and sentiment,” Kelly said about the writing process in a press release. “When the record was finished, it all felt so easy. I could stand back and listen to it as an audience member”.

Unfortunately for the band, the pandemic halted the record’s release as Jones said in the press release, “We were an ocean apart after the pandemic hit and the record sat on a shelf for nearly two years.” The album eventually was pulled from hibernation and mixed by Al Clay who previously worked with Blur and Pixies.

The band announced that their debut LP would be on its way back in March and have released three singles: the sweet country-inspired ballad “Let’s Turn This Back Around”, the rockier “Take It Through The Night”, and the uplifting “Screaming Hallelujah”. Watch the video for “Let’s Turn This Back Around” below:

“It’s an album and it’s meant to be listened to from start to finish. That’s what I’d like for people to do,” Lynn added. “Listen to the whole thing and see it as a complete work on its own.”

Derbyshire Y Not Festival added some exciting new acts to its line-up for the 2022 edition. The festival has been cancelled two years in a row due to Covid-19 and it’s coming back with a bang next summer.

In September they announced the first wave of music acts with Courteeners, Blossoms, Nothing But Thieves among others. “WE ARE BUZZING TO ANNOUNCE OUR FIRST WAVE OF ACTS FOR Y NOT FESTIVAL 2022! SO EXCITED TO WELCOME BOTH COURTEENERS AND BLOSSOMS AS OUR HEADLINERS, PLUS A RETURNING HEADLINER TO BE REVEALED SOON..” they shared at the time.

Yesterday, the festival organisers topped up the list with legends, Stereophonics and Welsh rockers Manic Street Preachers. The Vaccines and Nothing But Thieves are also added to the slot. “The new editions don’t stop there… Easy Life, Sea Girls, The Snuts, Dinosaur Pile Up, The Big Moon, Black Honey, Orla Gartland, The Reytons, The Futureheads, Dream Wife, Yard Act, Billie Marten & Baby Queen are all along for the long awaited 15th edition of Y Not!” tease organisers.

The 15th edition of the festival will take place between 29-31 July in Pikehall and it looks incredible already. Stereophonics will make a comeback after their headline set in 2017. The band’s founding member Richard Jones said: “We can’t wait to finally play Y Not again next summer – if the last time we performed there is anything to go by, next year’s festival will be great“.

“Back in 2017 the rain couldn’t dampen the spirits of the crowd who were up for a good time – I remember watching Slaves and Jake Bugg who were both on form. After a tough couple of years for everyone, it will be a very memorable weekend. See you there!”

Four-time Brit award winner Manic Street Preachers will also join the 2022 stage sharing the biggest hits and some tracks from their recent No 1 album The Ultra Vivid Lament.

Justin Young from The Vaccines, who also played at the festival in 2017 said: “In 2017, we sat backstage in torrential rain desperately hoping that we’d be allowed to play for everyone at Y Not”.

“The gods decided it wasn’t to be, and we left the festival as miserable as the weather. So we couldn’t be happier that after a 5 year wait, we’re finally getting the chance to right that wrong and bring the thunder ourselves…”

Stereophonics have released their new single “Hanging On Your Hinges” with an announcement of their new album Oochya which according to frontman Kelly Jones means “Let’s have it” thus highlighting a need for a blast of energy and optimism.

The band also announced their 2022 UK Tour and will be performing before then at a homecoming concert in Cardiff entitled We’ll Keep A Welcome on December 18th.

The Welsh band formed in 1992 counts frontman Kelly Jones (Lead vocals, lead guitar and keyboards), Richard Jones (Bass guitar, harmonica and backing vocals), Adam Zindani (Rhythm guitar and backing vocals) and Jamie Morrison (Drums and percussion) as the band’s lineup. Tony Kirkham (Keyboards) is a touring member of the band.

Stuart Cable (1992-2003), who sadly passed away on June 7th 2010 and Javier Weyler (2004-2012) were previous bands members. The band’s debut album Word Gets Around released on August 25th 1997, reached number six in the UK Official Albums Charts and achieved Gold status in the UK.

The band’s second album release Performance and Cocktails achieved UK Platinum status and reached number 1 in the UK Official Charts. The band featured on Tom Jones’s single “Mama Told Me Not To Come” (2000) from his album Reload (1999). Tom is now also set to join the lineup of the band’s homecoming Cardiff concert along with Catfish and The Bottlemen.

Frontman Jones has also released solo material with albums Only The Names Have Changed in 2007 and Don’t Let The Devil Take Another Day in 2020 with a documentary of the same name. The band are now back working together with the release of their new single, new album and UK tour.

In speaking of the new single frontman Jones said that the single was influenced by early ZZ Top and other musical influences, he said “Hanging On Your Hinges was influenced by my love of early ZZ Top and darker stuff like Masters Of Reality and maybe some Iggy Pop too”

The band’s new album Oochya is the band’s 12th studio album and replaces the band’s expected compilation celebratory album to mark their 25th Anniversary.

The album recorded in just seven days and set for release on March 4th will accompany the band’s 2022 UK tour due to start on March 18th in Manchester.

2021 will mark the festival’s fifteenth anniversary, with the annual Cumbrian bash kicking off back in 2006 with headline sets from Pendulum and British Sea Power. Since then, the Kendal Calling stage has been graced by the likes of Manic Street Preachers, Suede, Echo & The Bunnymen, Calvin Harris, Nile Rodgers and Chic, Snoop Dogg and Public Enemy.

Festival co-founders Andy Smith and Ben Robinson spoke to NME about their building excitement for the festival’s return after a Coronavirus-enforced hiatus in 2020. They said “It’s a great feeling to be able to announce the return of Kendal Calling in 2021. Not being able to celebrate together in the fields last year has only heightened anticipation for our return this July with a lineup that truly captures what Kendal Calling is all about…It’s sure to be an unforgettable moment stepping back into Lowther Deer Park this July and we can’t wait to have you all join us.”

Stereophonics, who headlined Kendal Calling in 2017 as part of a triple-bill with compatriots the Manics and Scottish art-rockers Franz Ferdinand, will return to the live stage fresh off the back of frontman Kelly Jones’ reflective solo album Don’t Let The Devil Take Another Day. The LP, released last December, included reimagined versions of a clutch of the Aberdare band’s classic hits – including Hurry Up And Wait, Mr Writer, Local Boy In The Photograph, Maybe Tomorrow, Traffic, Just Looking and Dakota – as well as a series of covers. Jones told fans that the track selection for the record – which came ten years after the tragic death of the band’s charismatic and much-loved original drummer Stuart Cable – “pulled together the songs that got him through the worst of times, whilst telling stories of how those songs came about.”

Supergrass‘ set at Kendal Calling will form part of a busy summer schedule for the Oxford outfit, who are also due to perform at Nottinghamshire’s Splendour Festival, Camper Calling in Warwickshire and the South Facing Festival at Crystal Palace in London. The band reformed in 2019 after a nine-year break.

Fellow South Facing headliner Dizzee Rascal‘s appearance at Kendal Calling will provide the festival veteran with an opportunity to perform songs from his well-received 2020 album E3 AF. In their review of his seventh studio LP, Clash praised the Bow product for “navigating the perilous landscape of 2020 with remarkable assurance“, adding that “few other UK rappers can genuinely say they’re making some of their best work 20 years in the game – staying true to his roots while absorbing the sounds that currently defined East London, Dizzee has pulled off something special.”

Stockport alt-rock merchants Blossoms will take to the stage at Kendal Calling with a 2020 hit record of their own under their belt. Their third LP – Foolish Loving Spaces – was their second UK chart-topper. The group will tour Britain and Europe next autumn before providing support to The Killers on their 2022 UK Tour. The Streets also take to the festival circuit with new music in their locker. The Mike Skinner-led unit released their first new mixtape in nine years in 2020 in the form of twelve-track collection None of Us Are Getting Out of This Life Alive, which reached number #2 in the Official UK Albums Chart.

Stereophonics frontman Kelly Jones has surprised fans with news of a new album, Don’t Let The Devil Take Another Day - a homage to the crowd-pleasing 2019 single of the same name. Announcing the new record on Twitter this morning, the Cynon Valley band have promised a collection of some of their finest moments “reimagined and rearranged.”

Kelly releases his new album ‘Don’t Let The Devil Take Another Day’ on Fri 4th Dec on @Parlophone! Available on 3xLP, 2xCD & digitally, it features some of Stereophonics’ finest moments reimagined, rearranged & intimately re-recorded in 2019! Pre-order at https://t.co/tsrwpTlrvz pic.twitter.com/Z2roKsMWKi

— stereophonics (@stereophonics) October 28, 2020

The track listing for the new album includes re-recordings of a clutch of classic Stereophonics hits – including Hurry Up And Wait, Mr Writer, Local Boy In The Photograph, Maybe Tomorrow, Traffic, Just Looking and Dakota – as well as some unexpected covers. One early standout released on YouTube today is Kelly Jones’ stunning rendition of Kris Kristofferson’s soul ballad Help Me Make It Through The Night, which had also been masterfully covered by Gladys Knight & The Pips in 1972.

The new LP, which is due out on December 4th, will be accompanied by a documentary film (also titled Don’t Let The Devil Take Another Day). The film will premiere at the BFI in London on November 4th – with a limited number of tickets still available online – ahead of a general cinematic release on November 27th. The documentary will also be available for virtual on-demand screening from December 3rd.

Director Ben Lowe captured much of the film’s footage during Kelly Jones’ intimate 2019 solo tour. He told NME: “I’ve been to hundreds of gigs in my life – shooting with my camera or purely as a fan – but I’d never experienced a show quite like Kelly’s on this tour. You recognise there’s something pretty special happening on-stage if the performances, and the stories he was telling between them, can make an audience laugh and cry on the same night. I wanted to make this documentary feel as truthful and heartfelt as Kelly’s shows. I knew it would be beautiful to hear these songs in a theatre, but I was really blown away. After the tour when Kelly told me about his first few months of the year, I felt inspired by the courage and honesty of it all.”

A statement on the Stereophonics’ official website highlights that the track selection for the new record – which comes ten years after the tragic death of the band’s much-loved original drummer Stuart Cable – will “pull together the songs that got him through the worst of times, whilst telling stories of how those songs came about.”

Kelly Jones – Don’t Let The Devil Take Another Day track listing:
1. Hurry Up And Wait
2. You’re My Star
3. Suzy
4. Katie
5. I Wanna Get Lost With You
6. Help Me Make It Through The Night
7. I Stopped To Fill My Car Up
8. Before Anyone Knew Our Name
9. Mr Writer
10. Rewind
11. Local Boy In The Photograph
12. Feel
13. Into The World

Tonight’s (October 14) event was none other than Pulp in all their irreverent glory, from a concert recorded in 2012. Teenage Cancer Trust have shared a small snippet of it: ‘This Is Hardcore’, ‘Common People’, ‘Babies’ and ‘Disco 2000’. This unseen fragment of Pulp at the Royal Albert Hall is fun and energetic and a truly great reminder of what live music is like at its best – we should all be grateful for the memory!

It’s worth watching solely for the moment when Jarvis drops to the ground and throws his legs up in the air like he’s going to do a shoulder stand. Richard Hawley is also there, on a flashy red electric guitar. As usual, Pulp’s energy is completely infectious and by half way through “com-mon peo-ple” you’ll hardly be sitting still. (Maybe I should confess that it’s my biggest regret that I’ve never seen Pulp live).

This footage feels like a real product of its time. In part, this is due to seeing the crowd socialise in close proximity and not in giant plastic bubbles, like The Flaming Lips tested out last night in Oklahoma. Also, Jarvis tells the audience affectionately that they can’t stay out too late because he has to go off and do his radio show the next day, taking us all back to Sunday afternoons of Jarvis’ carefully curated BBC 6 Music slot.

And, of course, all of this has always been for a great cause. Teenage Cancer Trust are celebrating their twentieth year of supporting young people through such a harrowing and lonely occurrence, and their numerous testimonies prove just how important this work really is. The slogan for TCT Unseen is simply “TEENAGE CANCER HASN’T STOPPED. SO WE CAN’T STOP.”

The rest of their Unseen line-up contains just as many fan favourites – you can see the entire list below. They’ve already put out sets from Muse, Paul McCartney and Stereophonics, and they’re building up to a full-length feature of The Cure’s 2014 performance to be streamed on Saturday 31st October. After each livestream, the shows remain on Youtube with all of the donation information, so you can watch later on and still have the opportunity to make a difference.

Teenage Cancer Trust are the only UK charity that commit to supporting all of the needs of their young people. They fund specialist cancer units, youth support coordinators and even events and networks for people with experience of cancer to come together in safe and supportive spaces. Like so many charities and industries, a great part of their fundraising and their community has been seriously affected by the pandemic. By reaching into their archives for material like this, they have gone some way to recapturing the magic of Teenage Cancer Trust for their fans, the way that music always has the power to.

Teenage Cancer Trust ‘Unseen’ Line-up:

08/10/20 – Ed Sheeran
09/10 – Muse
10/10 – Rudimental
11/10 – Paul McCartney
12/10 – Paul Weller
