Speaking on the forthcoming 25th-anniversary release, Spice Girls provided the following statement, “The ‘Spiceworld’ era was such a fun time for us, We’d just had a number one album with Spice, we were travelling all over the world and meeting our amazing fans, we released our second album AND we had our very own movie! The special anniversary edition has become a hotly anticipated release due to its additional content; the full tracklisting of the original release is partnered with bonus tracks, B-sides, previously unreleased recordings and never-before-released live tracks taken from the archive at Virgin Records. Included within the exclusive content is a demo recording of fan favourite “Step To Me”, a track not included in Spiceworld’s initial release. Originally written for inclusion on debut album Spice, “Step To Me” was utilised within an advertisement campaign for Pepsi featuring the Spice Girls.

Included within the digital deluxe version of Spiceworld 25 are a collection of live songs taken from recordings of their Europe and North American tour conducted in 1997-1998. With the purchase of the digital deluxe edition, the tracklist will also feature a new “ambient” version of the landmark single “Viva Forever”. During its original release, the pop ballad was accompanied by a new infamous music video featuring the band as animated fairies; the single holds great importance within the band’s career as it marked the departure of Geri Halliwell. The remixed version of the track was created by John Themis, known for his work with Bunton on her solo track “What Took You So long”. The 25th-anniversary edition of Spiceworld also includes a 15-minute megamix entitled “Spice Girls Party Mix”, serving as a musical montage of the band’s career; the mega mix incorporates the quintet’s biggest hits.

Initially released in November 1997, Spiceworld was the band’s second studio album, released a year after their seminal debut album Spice. After the release of their first studio album, the Spice Girls were propelled into stardom and soon became household names. With the tornado of Spice Girls fever came a new feminist revolution; the phrase Girl Power became not just the band’s tagline but a motto for a new generation. Upon its initial release, Spiceworld debuted at the top of the UK album charts and spent three weeks as the UK’s number one album.

During the 1997 album’s production, its visual partner Spiceworld was released in theatres; the album served as the soundtrack to the feature film, including all of its tracks except for “Move Over”. With the release of Spiceworld the movie, Spice Girls morphed from British pop stars into bonified movie stars. Both the film and album became worldwide hits turning the group into cultural icons seemingly overnight; amongst the heavy media attention attracted due to Spiceworld’s success, an incident involving the then Prince Charles also got the world talking. In 1997 the Spice Girls were invited to play in front of the royal family for the first time; during the appearance, Mel B and Geri Halliwell caused a stir when they both kissed the now King Charles. The year of Spiceworld’s release was a significant era of the band’s career, a rollercoaster of immense success and hits cemented their status as a prototype for a successful girl group within the pop music genre.

The collection is in celebration of the group’s 60th anniversary, the upcoming stamps will pay tribute the group’s musical influence and enduring legacy. The Royal Mail’s website describes the new collection as, “Exclusive Special Stamps and collectables capture ‘The Greatest Rock and Roll Band’ at their majestic best.” The upcoming stamp collection aims to honour the group’s long history of iconic and momentous live performances. Some of The Rolling Stone’s most infamous concerts are portrayed within the collection. The new collection also includes stamps with photographs of the band and several posters from their world tours.

One of the band’s most culturally important and symbolic concerts is included within the collection. Fans often regard the performance at London’s Hyde Park in 1969 as the band’s most significant show, the concert was held just two days after the tragic passing of founding member Brian Jones. The talented musician named the band and is cited as the band’s original leader, Jones was predominately a guitarist but was also versed on various instruments. On 2nd July 1969, Jones was found motionless in his pool and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The 27-year old’s death was attributed to drowning. Within the concert ticketholders witnessed the induction of Mick Taylor who took over on guitar, Taylor was eventually replaced by the group’s current guitarist Ronnie Wood.

Other performances which are honoured within the collection include the group’s set at the Knebworth Festival on 21st August 1976. The crowd in attendance was an estimated 120,000, marking the band’s largest audience at this point in their career. The legendary festival boasted a line up full of the era’s most defining acts including 10cc, Todd Rundgren and Lynyrd Skynyrd. The upcoming collection also pays tribute to the group’s 1995 show in Rotterdam, the concert was part of the band’s The Rollingstone’s Voodoo Lounge world tour and included support from Big Country.

The Rolling Stones are the fourth band to receive a collection by Royal Mail, the British institution have also released stamp collections in honour of The Beatles, Queen and Pink Floyd. Royal Mail have also immortalised three of music’s most successful solo artists, Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Elton John and David Bowie. The Royal Mail’s director of public affairs and policy, David Gold has provided the following statement concerning The Rolling Stone’s induction, “Few bands in the history of rock have managed to carve out a career as rich and expansive as that of the Rolling Stones. They have created some of modern music’s most iconic and inspirational albums, with ground-breaking live performances to match.”

The collection is available to purchase in various formats and collector’s editions including a limited-edition prestige stamp book, fan sheets from the Hyde Park concert and Voodoo lounge tour, medal covers and framed displays.

KID A MNESIA will be released via XL Recordings on November 5. The record will feature both aforementioned albums alongside a newly compiled third disc titled Kid Amnesiae, which will be full of unearthed material taken from the Kid A and Amnesiac sessions. These new materials will include the previously unreleased studio recording of “Follow Me Around” as well as the never-before-heard “If You Say The Word” which you can listen to below.

The new track has a lush and elegant quality with delicate finger-picking and a foreboding groove using eerie chiming percussion, it is superficially pretty yet not cheerful and could be described by some as a lost classic.

This special reissue will be available in these formats: deluxe LP (limited edition 3xLP cream vinyl + 36-page hardback art book), Kid Amnesiette (a limited and numbered edition cassette [limited to 5000] + 36-page booklet), indie exclusive limited edition red vinyl 3xLP, black vinyl 3xLP, 3xCD and 3-volume digital formats.

Along with this release two art books by frontman Thom Yorke and Stanley Donwood an artist who has created all the artwork for the band since 1994 where he catalogues the visual works created during the Kid A / Amnesiac era which will be published on November 4.

The album will be published on the 29th of October as part of the band’s 40th-anniversary festivities and will feature an alternate version of the song “Leave,” which was recorded in the first edition.

New Adventures In Hi-Fi is available in two formats and will feature a restored version of the album, B-sides and rarities along with an hour-long video that was only previously displayed as projections on buildings to promote the record in 1996.

The anniversary edition will also include a hardcover book with images and memorabilia. The memorabilia will include an exclusive poster along with a selection of collectible postcards and a booklet.

Along with the remastered album, a Blue-ray disk will feature in the deluxe edition that will also include an unreleased 30-minute electronic press kit, a hi-fi audio version of New Adventures, and five HD-restored music videos.

New Adventures in Hi-Fi will be reissued as a two-CD set and digital collection with just the remastered album and rarities.

For Vinyl lovers, the remastered album will be available as a double-LP vinyl set also.
