Kraftwork, with a 3D DJ set, were announced as the first headliners October and Saturday only day tickets were already sold out before this afternoon’s announcement. Today however was the first chance anyone got to see the beginnings of a complete line up, leaving fans ecstatic and artists honoured to be playing. With such a wide range of artists, both new and classic, the festival is hoping to cater for all tastes, and it seems that even the artists playing are excited about the other headliners.

The London indie trio have just started making moves in the music world and have recently revealed a cover of 90s Britpop group Space’s track Female Of The Species.

The group, consisting of singer Ben Burrows (brother of ex Razorlight drummer Andy), bassist Neil Tollitt and drummer Rich Cooper blend 70s era new wave of pop with a dark, sinister sound akin to the post-punk sound that spread it’s wings during the 80s. It brings with it a unique sound that no other band out there can claim to have, and when you take into consideration the fact that Burrows has been compared to the likes of Julian Casablanca of The Strokes fame, you know that these guys really have something about them.

When you hear that bands will be releasing covers of tracks from yesteryear you often get a faint shiver down the spine, concerned that the original could be ruthlessly murdered, leaving nothing more than a stain where it used to be. Thankfully, Paint The Dark’s cover of Female Of The Species leaves no such stain, and instead proves this bands’ worth in today’s music. Burrows’ voice soars over a mellow bass line and tingly drums, leaving listeners with a wish for more. You can check out the track below.

With their debut E.P Deeds I Can’t Undo due for release on November 4th, you can’t help but feel that 2014 should be the year that Paint The Dark come into the light and shine relentlessly. If you’re interested in seeing what else the band have to offer, you can check out the video for Lariat below. The video was shot on a tight budget around the Welsh mountains, and was directed by rising director James Kennedy.
