The James Bond film series’ standout soundtrack will be showcased within the upcoming event; the concert has been curated by celebrated composer David Arnold. The English movie composer’s credits include five James Bond films along with such blockbusters as Independence Day, Hot Fuzz and the BBC tv show Little Britain. Set to headline the concert is Dame Shirley Bassey, the legendary singer best known for her work within the Bond films. Dame Bassey has a long association with the Bond franchise; the singer lent her vocal talents to the themes of Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever and Moonraker.

Also billed to perform at The Sound Of 007 are a host of special guests and artists featured in the Bond soundtracks. Also scheduled to take the London stage is rock group Garbage, fronted by Scottish singer Shirley Manson; the band performed the theme for the 19th Bond film The World Is Not Enough. Also included in the lineup is singer Celeste; the singer will join further acts to perform new renditions of the film’s classic theme songs. Backing Dame Bassey and the event’s star-studded lineup is the acclaimed Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, confirmed to conduct throughout the event is Nicholas Dodd.

Artistic Director of the Royal Albert Hall, Lucy Noble, has given the following statement concerning the upcoming event, “We could not be more honoured to host this landmark anniversary of one of the world’s greatest franchises. The Hall has forged an indelible association with 007 over many years and we are delighted to help them celebrate.“

Also commenting on the upcoming concert, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, James Bond producers, have stated, “Music has always played a vital role in the success of the 007 series. Over the sixty-year history, we have been blessed with the extraordinary talents of legendary composers and artists who have created the most powerful and moving musical contributions to our twenty five films. The Sound of 007 in Concert on October 4th will celebrate their tremendous achievements.“

The Royal Albert Hall will also be celebrating the James Bond film franchise in November with a string of screenings of the series’ most recent releases. The venue will host the screenings with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra providing a live rendition of the film’s soundtrack, instalments included within the series of in-concert screenings are Spectre, Skyfall and Casino Royale.

Further information concerning the concert and its billed performers are yet to be announced, along with the event’s partner charity. Tickets for The Sound Of 007 go on sale on 10 am on Monday August 1^st 2022, and pre-sale for Friends and Patrons of The Royal Albert Hall went on sale today.

The hit single also marks composer Lin-Manuel Miranda’s first chart success with an original soundtrack track. Taken from the 2021 animated Disney film Encanto, the song features an ensemble cast of Rhenzy Felix, Adassa, Mauro Castillo, Diane Guerrero, Carolina Gaita and Brooklyn Nine-Nine actress Stephanie Beatriz. OfficialCharts took to Instagram to celebrate the win, the post featured a photo of Beatriz proudly holding the award in London.

Due to the song’s popularity. the track accumulated an impressive 6.3 million streams within the UK. “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” is one of three tracks from the soundtrack to garner chart success, and two more tracks have entered the top twenty this week. “Surface Pressure” by Jessica Darrow has charted at number five and “The Family Madrigal” by Olga Merediz and Stephanie Beatriz has placed at number fifteen.

It’s another captivating, infectious track written by Lin Manuel Miranda and we’re so proud of the success of the movie and soundtrack. Not forgetting ‘Surface Pressure’, another hit from the soundtrack which is in at Number 5 also. Having two tracks in the Top 5 is more than we ever could have expected… may the success continue!”

“We Don’t Talk About Bruno” is Disney’s first original number one single, but the entertainment institution has achieved chart success with past original soundtracks. Disney saw great chart success in 2013 with the release of “Let it Go” from the hugely popular film Frozen. The song featured legendary musical artist Idina Menzel and became a rousing success, with the track placing at number eleven within the charts. The title track for blockbuster The Lion King also reached number eleven within the UK singles charts. “Circle Of Life” was released in 1994 and has remained a Disney classic, the track was composed and performed by Sir Elton John and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original song in 1994.

The Walt Disney Company have achieved a number one single outside of the original soundtrack genre. In October 2002 Gareth Gates received his third number-one single with a cover of “Suspicious Minds”, which featured on the soundtrack for animated film Lilo & Stitch. In 1996, “Someday” by girl group Eternal reached number four within the UK singles charts. The single was taken from the soundtrack for the 1996 Disney film The Hunchback of Notre Dame and gave the group their ninth top ten single.

Elsewhere within this week’s singles chart, “ABCDEFU” by American singer-songwriter Gayle has placed at number two. The single was last week’s number one but has retained the title of the week’s most downloaded single. At number three this week is one of last year’s most successful singles, “Easy On Me” by Adele made headlines for the consecutive number of weeks spent at number one during its debut release.

The soundtrack was penned by award-winning composer Hans Zimmer, the album’s high chart position also marks the highest charting release for him. Released via Decca Records, the soundtrack has also topped the Official Classical Artists Album chart. The previous high chart achiever released from the James Bond franchise belonged to Goldfinger. The soundtrack was released in 1964 and composed by John Barry.

The legendary German composer, Hans Zimmer, has written some of the most famous soundtracks in cinematic history. Zimmer’s long list of work includes The Dark Knight Trilogy, The Pirates of The Caribbean series, Gladiator and 1993 Tarantino film True Romance. Zimmer has also achieved many accolades during his long career of over 150 films. The composer was awarded the Academy Award for Best Original Score for The Lion King in 1995. Zimmer’s large collection of awards also includes four Grammies, two Golden Globes plus many more.

Included within the soundtrack is the 25th James Bond film’s title track entitled “No Time To Die”. Written and performed by The Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr and “Bay Guy” singer Billie Eilish, the single also achieved chart success. Co-written by Eilish’s musical partner and brother Finneas O’Connell, the single debuted at number one when first released last year. Eilish, who was 18 at the time of the release, has become the first female and youngest artist to top the UK chart with a Bond theme. The single also holds the most successful opening release for a Bond Theme, the single re-entered the charts this week after the soundtrack release.

Zimmer has spoken to OfficialCharts.com on his chart success. “It’s incredible to think that we effectively launched this album at the Brits in 2019! It feels fantastic that the movie and its music are finally receiving such a rapturous and record-breaking reception. If you’re going to make chart history, you might as well do it with James Bond! I’m delighted.”

Laura Monks and Tom Lewis, co-managing directors of Decca Records have stated that they “thrilled” for the soundtrack and Zimmer’s chart success. Both also added, “Both legends in their own right. We couldn’t be prouder of the whole Decca team and of the increasingly strong bond (sorry!) that we have built with our partners at EON and MGM.”

Martin Talbot, Chief Executive of Official Charts Company, also provided the following statement, “The triumphant return of Bond, James Bond, this autumn has been a huge film for the nation post-lockdown and the incredible success of the soundtrack album has emphasised quite how much we love a Bond score. The involvement this time of Billie Eilish and Johnny Marr alongside Hans Zimmer has broadened the audience for this OST more than ever before. We have had to wait, but it was certainly well worth waiting for.”

No Time To Die was released in theatres on 30th September 2021 via Universal Pictures International. The latest instalment from the famous spy franchise has achieved great success within the box office. The new release also sees Daniel Craig reprieve his role as James Bond. The feature film took the highest opening weekend within the UK, beating out the rest of the series which spans over 50 years.

British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) claims it acquired US court documents which allegedly confirm the 8-page lawsuit filed by Integral Images on 6th July 2021. Within them, it states that Lipa allegedly shared a photo on a social media platform which depicted the singer at the airport wearing a big hat with her ticket and passport in hand in February of 2019, Lipa was surrounded by her fans in the photo. Lipa allegedly shared the photo to the social media site on 7th February 2019 with the caption “I’ll be living under big fluffy hats until further notice“, any potential social share of this image has since been deleted

A potential amount of money could be asked to cover the legal costs and attorney costs that could potentially occur. Integral Images’ legal team are also allegedly looking for a jury trial and an order to stop the singer from performing alleged other acts of infringement. The court documents claim the singer profited alleging as the singer’s Instagram is “monetised in that it contains content designed to accumulate followers who are directed to, via link and/or advertisement, consume and purchase [her] content“. The Grammy award singer has been contacted for a statement from the BBC, NME and other representatives of the press but the singer is yet to comment on the alleged claims.

Lipa is not the only star to stumble into claimed copyright infringement trouble, many artists have also been sued by photographers and their representatives. American superstar Jennifer Lopez was sued in sued in 2019 by Splashy news and its picture agency after the singer shared a picture to Instagram. The companies claiming the dispute later dropped the complaint, the photo in question was of herself with Alex Rodriguez, her boyfriend at the time.

In other news from Lipa’s camp, the singer has now turned her attention to acting. The ‘We’re Good’ number one singer will be staring in the new spy film ‘Argylle’. The singer will make her acting debut alongside Henry Cavill, Catherine O’Hara, Sam Rockwell, Samuel L Jackson, John Cena, Bryan Cranston and Bryce Dallas Howard. The new film which is being directed by Matthew Vaughn will also feature Lipa’s music, the singer will be penning the film’s soundtrack and score.

The soundtrack will feature 12 tracks from the show’s original score composed by Hynes. In a New York Times interview, Hynes said that while he was in Italy Guadagnino and he had ‘got talking about music and composers [they] like.’ Hynes is a big fan of classical composer John Adams, who has written music for Guadagnino’s I Am Love and was also working on We Are Who We Are. Luca then asked Hynes if he wanted to have a go composing some more classical style music, and Hynes went back to New York and started working.

Interestingly, Hynes is actually ‘a classically trained musician who has performed alongside Philip Glass at Carnegie Hall’. In his score for We Are Who We Are, Hynes has blended classical influences with his avant-garde R&B style as Blood Orange. Previously, Hynes has done the scoring for Palo Alto, as well as this years big hit Queen and Slim.

In Palo Alto, his dreamy use of synthesisers and smooth vocals were perfectly matched to the films backdrop of a Californian summer. There is also something heady and distinctively teenage about Hynes’ score for that film. The lyrics of title track Palo Alto, ‘waiting til I know who you are// Waiting for a shot in the dark’ evoking that teenage feeling of waiting for something to happen.

His score for Queen and Slim was described as demonstrating ‘to the fullest Hynes’ ability to subtly evoke a range of emotional colour’. Luca Guadagnino said that he chose Hynes for the score because he appreciated the ‘eclec-ticity’ of his work, adding that he feels ‘seen‘ by the prolific musician.

Hynes reportedly wrote the score before quarantine, but did some last minute adjustments during lockdown. He described his process as a natural one, stating that he would watch a scene and immediately know ‘what landscape [he] wanted the score to exist in’. Sometimes he would even ‘start improv[ising] on the piano while watching the scene’. His 12-track score for Guadagnino’s miniseries will be sure to impress.

The song comes from new Netflix show The Eddy which comes from Damien Chazelle (director of La La Land). ‘Kiss me in the morning’ is a departure from Smiths usual RnB style seeing her take more from jazz influences. Though we are in lockdown the singer isn’t taking it as an elongated holiday, she’s due to perform on a 24-hour live performance livestream alongside Tame Impala, Four Tet and JME along with others. The performance is scheduled to take place today.

Initially rising to prominence in 2016, her breakout debut album ‘Lost and Found’ peaked at number three in the charts. Off the back of this she has collaborated with artists such as Drake, Kendrick Lamar and Stormzy. These collaborations are a testament to the rising star.

Yet to announce a new album to follow up from her astronomical success with her first, fans of the singer will feel long overdue a release. It is coming up to almost two years to the date of her first album and all eyes are on Smith as it remains to be seen whether she will fall into the trap of a difficult second album as so many have before her.

Whether she will fall foul to the trap of a difficult second album or not, it is hard to deny the success Smith has found in the past two years. Going from quitting college and moving to London to pursue her dreams of being a singer at 18 to working with certified superstars such as Drake and Kendrick. This goes to show anybody that hard work and dedication comes above anything. Also, it helps if you can sing. 

“No more Mrs. Shut Up and Smile” – a lyric from the chorus shows how this song is perfectly suited to the film, which is set around character Harley Quinn, portrayed by Margot Robbie. When Peters sings “It’s my world and you’re just living in it, Did I, did I, did I finish?” it’s easy to imagine the character herself saying those words. ‘Smile’ gained over 100,000 streams on Spotify in only one day and at this point it has reached 200,000.

Birds of Prey is the name of the new superhero film which looks further into the story of Harley Quinn. In this new adaptation, the character fights evil crime lord, Black Mask, with the help of her allies: Huntress, Black Canary, and Renee Montoya. It has received excellent reviews from both critics and audience members – the soundtrack is now available to purchase on iTunes or stream on any platform.

The opportunity to write for the movie is just another step forward in Peters’ already blossoming career. It’s the first film she’s been featured in, and the artist is one of many who recorded for the soundtrack. Others include Halsey, Normani and Lauren Jauregui making up 15 tracks with the other all female artists from Atlantic Records.

Peters started posting original music on YouTube in 2015, gaining popularity over the next few years, releasing two singles independently before signing with Atlantic Records. Her YouTube channel has now reached 74,000 subscribers from her self-described “emo girl pop”. With her record company, the artist has also put out two more singles including ‘Worst Of You’ which has over 62 million streams on Spotify, as well as two EPs. On YouTube, her most viewed video is ‘Stay Young’, a single release in 2019.

The singer will be appearing to perform in venues across the UK and Europe through February, March and April 2020, before joining Lauv in North America as she supports him on his ‘How I’m Feeling’ world tour. Check out the Maisie Peters website for more details and tickets.
