‘Linger’ from The Cranberries’ debut album ‘Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We’ peaked at number 3 in Ireland and number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100. Initially made up of Mike and Noel Hogan, Fergal Lawler, Niall Quinn and Dolores O’Riordan, The Cranberries were formed in 1989 but officially broke up September 2018 following the death of lead vocalist Dolores O’Riordan. The band released their final album ‘In The End’ in March 2019 which was subsequently nominated for Best Rock Album at 2020 Grammy Awards.

Sombr is no stranger to guest appearances during his performances, earlier this year the young singer was in the headlines following his Brit’s performance where he was seemingly attacked during his performance of ‘Back To Friends’ although it was later confirmed to be a staged interruption as part of promotion for his latest single ‘Homewrecker’.

Fans can regularly expect to see guests on tour with Sombr as ‘The Late Nights & Young Romance Tour’ has had support from Anna Leah, Blu De Tiger and Devon Gabriella as well as guest appearances from Foster the People, Laufey, Sam Smith.

The tour which began in May 2025 also started in Dublin. He then visited London, Amsterdam and Cologne before embarking on the North American leg of the tour and then visiting New Zealand and Australia. Sombr then returned to Europe in February continuing the tour before its last date in Dublin on March 16th. This string of performances with end with Sombr’s first appearances at the US’s famed music festival Coachella in April.

Otherwise on the night, fans were treated to the live renditions of Sombr’s debut album ‘I Barely Know Her’ which was released in August 2025 and was popularised by singles such as ‘Back To Friends’, ‘Undressed’ and ’12 to 12’. The intimate self written album peaked at number 14 on the Billboard 200 chart and was eventually selected as part of the 50 Best Albums of 2025 by Billboard and The 100 Best Albums of 2025 by Rolling Stone.

The man was dressed in a t-shirt, printed with the words ‘SOMBR IS A HOMEWRECKER’, in reference to his upcoming single in the lead up to his new album. ‘Homewrecker’ is Sombr’s first single since the release of his debut album ‘I Barely Know Her’  in August 2025. The indie pop album with themes of heartbreak and reflection, features the aforementioned singles ‘Back To Friends’ and ‘Undressed’, as well as ‘We Never Dated’ and ’12 to 12’.

Later on Instagram, the New York born singer joked about the moment, quelling worries for his safety, captioning the post ‘he should’ve pushed me harder’. He then went on to promote the shirt that the intruder wore, now available as part of his merchandise.

Otherwise, at the Brits, Sombr was nominated for International Song of the Year for his breakout ‘Undressed’. The song released in March 2025 has since been certified platinum in Australia, The UK, and the US following virality on TikTok. He lost out on the award to Rosé and Bruno Mars for ‘APT’.

The 2026 Brit Awards took place at the Co-op Live in Manchester, deviating from London for the first time in the show’s history. The award show also featured performances from Harry Styles, Olivia Dean, and Rosalía, the latter of whom beat out Sombr for the award for International Artist of the Year. He was also up against Bad Bunny, Doechii and Taylor Swift for the honour.

Born Shane Michael Boose, Sombr is currently on tour for ‘I Barely Know Her’ visiting Europe, North America and Australia. The tour has been inundated with guests with Anna Leah, Blu De Tiger and Devon Gabriella performing as openers, with special guests also including Laufey, Sam Smith and Foster the People. The tour which began in May 2025 in Dublin will end following his debut appearance at this year’s Coachella on April 11th and April 18th with headliners; Justin Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, and Karol G.

After his song ‘Caroline’ went viral in 2022 and his EP ‘In Another Life’ in 2023 gained him a following, he made his big break this year with his debut album ‘I Barely Know Here’, with fan favourite singles on there such as ‘Back to Friends’ and ‘Undressed’. These songs went viral on TikTok, and earned him global success in the charts.

This also has led him to announce his first major tour ‘The Late Nights & Young Romance Tour’. The UK leg of the tour includes shows in London at London’s O2 Academy Brixton, Manchester, Birmingham, and Glasgow.

Before doing his headline show, he has also supported Nessa Barrett in the UK earlier this year on her ‘Aftercare Tour’, where he played at major venues such as London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town and Manchester Academy.

Sombr has also had major success in the UK charts with multiple songs in the Top 40. His breakout single ‘Back to Friends’ climbed to number 7 on the UK Officials Singles Chart, and stayed in the Top 40 for many weeks. Additionally, his song ‘Undressed’ became his biggest UK single so far – it entered the UK chart at number 65, then broke into the Top 40 at number 37, and eventually peaked at number 4, making it his most commercially successful songs in the UK.

Recently, his song ‘We Never Dated’ (released earlier this year), charted and debuted at number 37 on the UK Singles Chart. His single ’12 to 12′ became his third Top 10 UK single, peaking at number 7, further cementing his popularity in the UK, and showing his dedicated fan base.

Ahead of the announcement of his UK and Europe tour next year, fans have positively reacted to the announcement, with fans wanting him to add new dates. Fans have been commenting on his Instagram post with comments such as, “Please add a date in Dublin, pleaaaaaaaaaase”, and “More tickets in Prague please”, even after he had upgraded shows and added shows. His instagram caption said, “Sold out instantly. 2 more nights added in London, 1 more night in Paris and Manchester, Zurich, Berlin, and Barcelona upgraded. Thank you.”

Sombr’s world tour will start in the fall in North America with shows in Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Seattle, three nights in Los Angeles, and four different nights in his hometown, New York City. He is also planning to perform in Australia in December before heading over to the UK and Europe. 

Prior to the Late Nights and Young Romance World Tour beginning, Sombr was in the UK and Europe from May 16 to June 23 performing as an opener to American singer-songwriter Nessa Barrett on her world tour for her ‘Aftercare’ album. 

Sombr started releasing music back in 2021 with his first song ‘nothing left to say’, and throughout 2021 to 2024, he released popular songs ‘caroline’, ‘never find u’, ‘would’ve been you’, ‘make me want you’, and ‘savior’. 

At just 19 years old, he started rising to fame in 2024 with his first major hit ‘back to friends’ that had a viral success and blew up on social media and reached the number one spot on Billboard and Spotify’s Global Daily Charts, with over 540 million streams globally.

The singer has continued his massive success with his song ‘Undressed’ hitting over 300 million streams and his most recent single in June, ‘we never dated’, with over a million streams within the first day. ‘We never dated’ became Sombr’s twelfth song to surpass ten million streams. He was also recently included in Billboard’s ‘21 Under 21’ list. 

Sombr’s viral success at the beginning of his career is off the charts. The singer has only released singles and EPs; however, an album is confirmed to be in the works. He has blown up through his ability to truly connect and resonate with a younger audience, being only 20 years old himself. The talent in his songwriting is extremely authentic and has gained popularity through a relatable, deep emotional connection within his lyrics to the younger audiences, creating a story and image that many people have felt.
