Courteeners have sold-out their upcoming homecoming gig at Manchester’s Heaton Park. After going on sale on Friday (September 2) the band’s gig in support of the 15th anniversary of their debut ‘St. Jude’, sold-out in less than eight hours. The show will take place June 9, 2023. On Tuesday (August 30) the band shared details of the 15th-anniversary reissue of their debut album, which will feature the original album plus b-sides, non-album singles and demos.

Their debut album has become a modern indie classic spawning some of the band’s biggest anthems like “Not Nineteen Forever”, “Cavorting” and “What Took You So Long?”. The expanded version of St. Jude will be released on January 13, 2023 with pre-orders available here. The band shared the news of the sell-out via a Twitter post that read “Heaton Park — sold out. Thank you all for the love we can’t fucking wait! x”. You can see the Tweet in full bellow.

HEATON PARK – SOLD OUT. THANK YOU ALL FOR THE LOVE WE CAN’T FUCKING WAIT! X pic.twitter.com/ZHc2n9PvHZ

As quoted in the Manchester Evening News vocalist Liam Fray said of the anniversary “They grow up so fast, can’t believe our darling ‘St. Jude’ is 15 next year. Think it’s time for a celebration and we all know that great things come in threes – The Star Wars Trilogy, Sooty, Sweep & Soo and now, here we are, with the third instalment of ‘Courteeners at Heaton Park’.” Fray then went on to say “June 2015. June 2019 and now June 2023. This time to celebrate the 15th anniversary of its release we’ll be playing ‘St. Jude’ (in full) plus (of course) THE HITS. I can’t think of any better way to celebrate than to make the pilgrimage to Heaton Park with like-minded souls and lose ourselves like it’s 2008. And, because we’re good like that, we’ve remastered the original album. God bless the band. God bless the fans. Omne Trium Perfectum.”

Selling out tickets fast doesn’t seem to all that rare for The Courteeners. Back in 2021 they sold out the Emirates Old Trafford cricket ground in 2021 to over 50,000 fans in just 90 minutes, so it’s no surprise there was high demand this time around.

On September 1, the band projected the artwork from their debut album across Manchester in honour of the record’s upcoming show and anniversary. Last month, Courteeners also debuted a new song titled ‘Lie Back And Think Of England’ during an intimate headline show in London. Additionally back in November, Courteeners also released a concert film of their huge Heaton Park homecoming gig from June 2019.

After the Reading and Leeds Festival announced the long-awaited return of Sheffield sweethearts Arctic Monkeys, Nu-metal legends Rage Against the Machine, and the festivals’ youngest-ever headliner Dave, as well as many others; fans have been swarming to get a chance to attend the world-famous event. Announced on Friday 8th December, the announcement made massive waves and really cemented Arctic Monkeys as one of the biggest artists in the world today, after their days at the twin festivals sold out in only 2 days. Unless you bagged tickets to the festival already, your chances of seeing Arctic Monkeys live in the UK have just been made significantly more expensive after weekend tickets to both festivals have also completely sold out.

You can, however, get hold of tickets for the few other remaining days at each of the festivals. The Friday for Reading, or the Saturday for Leeds, with headliners Dave and Megan Thee Stallion, is still very much available for you to get your hands on. The dual headliners will share their day at the festival with Polo G, the immensely talented Little Simz, viral sensation Glass Animals, and industry newcomer PinkPantheress. A few other names are also attributed to the day with many more to be announced in the future.

The final day of the Reading Festival, or the first day of the Leeds Festival, also has day tickets available. So, if you’re in the mood for a genre-hopping day between the politically charged energy of Rage Against the Machine, and 2010’s chart-topping machine Halsey then today is the day for you. The pair will be backed by artists that really highlight the musical, political, and gender diversity of the festival this year. Experimental hip-hop duo Run the Jewels will hit the main stage after Eurovision’s offering this year Måneskin. Bastille and Chloe Moriondo join the line-up as the direct antithesis of the former artists.

As mentioned before, tickets to the Reading’s Saturday, Leeds’ Sunday, could prove to be quite expensive to bad now that the day tickets and festival weekend have sold out. Co-headliners Arctic Monkeys, and Bring Me the Horizon prove that British guitar music is far from dead, and anyone that says otherwise is just too ignorant to bother talking to. Wolf Alice, Fontaines D.C., Enter. Shikari, and Wilkinson round out the festival day.

You can try and get tickets to the remaining days here, if you already have tickets then you can just kick back and listen to this specially curated playlist from the festival themselves. Covering all the top tracks of the big names announced so far.

Lorde’s UK and North American “Solar Power” tour sold out within minutes of being on-sale. Multiple dates were also added due to high fan demand. A fourth London show was even added at the prestigious Alexandra Palace on Tuesday, June 28th 2022.

Grammy Award-wining, multiplatinum artist Lorde has been extremely quick to sell out all of her UK shows for her upcoming tour, which begins February 26th 2022 in New Zealand. Her UK shows include three sold out nights at London’s Roundhouse, as well as the additional date for Alexandra Palace. Tickets for the new London date will go on pre-sale at 10am BST and on-sale to the general public on Wednesday June 30, 2021.

Not only has the New Zealand singer-songwriter been met with such high anticipation in the UK, but she has also sold out her North American tour dates – with fan demanded additions in LA, NYC, Toronto, Boston and Chicago.

The excitement for Lorde’s “Solar Power” tour has elevated from the artists new single “Solar Power” which was released earlier this month. With sunny melodies and bouncing instrumental the single is the perfect introduction to 2021 summer. In a press release discussing her new single, Lorde commented that “The first song, also called Solar Power and written and produced by myself and Jack, is the first of the rays. It’s about that infectious, flirtatious summer energy that takes hold of us all, come June…” This infectiousness has clearly made its way into her music, hence it’s worldwide reception and sell-out shows.

Not only did the single drop alongside Lorde’s announcement of her highly awaited third studio album, also titled “Solar Power”, which is out August 20th – but it even dropped in time with the only solar eclipse of the year. Explaining the album, Lorde stated that it “is a celebration of the natural world, an attempt at immortalizing the deep, transcendent feelings I have when I’m outdoors. In times of heartache, grief, deep love, or confusion, I look to the natural world for answers…This is what came through.” This answer, provided through Lorde’s memorable and enchanting quality music is what makes her a sell-out success.

The single “Solar Power” has already earnt itself five star reviews from the likes of NME and Pitchfork, as well as trending #1 worldwide across social media. Not only this, but it gained over 30 million streams in it’s first five days, and was #1 on Spotify’s Global and US Song Debut. In discussing the song, The Gaudian called it, “… a distinct reinvention, one that gleefully puts a gap between Lorde and everyone else in terms of her creativity” and added that “Lorde’s comeback single is a lesson in letting pop stars take their time.”

“Solar Power” certainly is a comeback single. But could we have expected anything less? Lorde has taken the pop world by storm since she was 16-years-old. Back then, in 2013, she became the voice of a generation in her debut album “Pure Heroine” which went not only triple platinum but which won her two GRAMMY Awards. The album also gave life to the record breaking single “Royals”. “Pure Heroine” was a catalyst in the artists success on the music scene. Time Magazine even placed her amongst the “Most Influential Teenagers in the World“.

The second date, announced for the following day (July 12th), has already seen a significant portion of tickets sold despite not being announced until after tickets for the first performance had already sold out.

When speaking to BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe earlier this week, the rapper announced that he is not currently looking to do lengthy tours. Instead, he is hoping to focus on selling out big arena shows as “right now, that’s working for [him]”.

It has been less than a year since Eminem came to the UK to perform at Reading & Leeds Festival 2013, meaning that his fans in the UK won’t have had too long to wait before getting another opportunity to see him perform live.
