The band from Northern Ireland will headline the London venue on 3 July, with support from Rag ‘N’ Bone Man and Nieve Ella on the day.

Around the UK, they will also headline Nottingham’s Splendour Festival on 19 July, as well as play some solo shows in Liverpool, Edinburgh, Shropshire and East Anglia.

When announcing the shows on social media, the band said, “We’re really looking forward to heading back out across the UK & Ireland next summer!”

“We’re headlining In It Together festival in Port Talbot and Splendour festival in Nottingham as well playing a run of our own shows. And we’re very excited about it all.”

Snow Patrol release their eighth studio album last year, ‘The Forest Is The Path’, which was their first record in six years.

In 2023, the band announced the bassist Paul Wilson and drummer Jonny Quinn had decided to leave Snow Patrol.

The news came after the band had celebrated 20 years since their breakout album was released, ‘The Final Straw’.

The band said, “We are heartbroken they have decided to leave us but we wish them nothing but happiness, success, joy, compassion and everything they want in all their future endeavours.”

Frontman Gary Lightbody said, “Nate, JMD and myself will continue with SP and there will be a new album next year but more news of that will come at an appropriate time.”

Snow Patrol was formed in Dundee in 1994 under the name Shrug, with an original line-up of Northern Ireland-born musicians Gary Lightbody, Mark McClelland and Michael Morrison.

After a brief period of performing under the name Polarbear, they change the name to Snow Patrol in 1997.

Jonny Quinn joined the band as a drummer in the same year. In 2005, Paul Wilson joined as the bassist.

The band’s big break came in the mid-2000s, with hits including ‘Run’ and ‘Chasing Cars’, which was crowned as the most played song of the 21st century on UK radio in 2019.

Gary Lightbody was almost amongst some of the artist who backed the open letter written by Ed Sheeran to the UK government which called for the implementation of immediate and long-term funding for music education.

The initiative highlighted five areas the government should focus on: music funding in schools, training for music teachers, funding for grassroots venues, music apprenticeships, and a diverse music curriculum.

This year’s headliners include American rapper 50 Cent on Friday, Scottish rock band Biffy Clyro on Saturday, and rock band Snow Patrol on Sunday. Other notable acts performing on the main stage this weekend are Wet Leg, Fontaines D.C., Jade, Alessi Rose, James Bay, Gracie Abrams, The Kooks, and Twin Atlantic.   

The King Tut’s Stage includes artists Tanner Adell, Underworld, Jake Bugg, Shed Seven, Good Neighbours, Arthur Hill, and Brooke Combe. BBC Introducing stages features The Rooks, Matilda Mann, Ben Ellis, Bemz, and Vlure. The BBC Radio 1 Dance Stage includes Nimino, Jaguar, Jazzy, Charlie Hedges, Arielle Free, and Marianne.  

The TRNSMT festival started back in 2017 with around 120,000 people attending. They expanded the event over two weekends in 2018 but have since brought it back to one weekend. The festival now attracts around 150,000 attendees, with an estimated 50,000 people each day. It has become a major event in the UK music festival scene. 

The TRNSMT festival features four different stages: The Main Stage, hosting the biggest names and headliners, King Tut’s Stage with a mix of established and new talent, BBC Introducing Stage, and BBC Radio 1 Dance Stage, which includes local and international DJs.

The festival offers easily accessible parking, entrances, and viewing platforms for the stages, providing a place for wheelchair users. TRNSMT is also a signatory of the Green Nation Sustainability Charter, showing importance and dedication to environmental responsibility while holding the event in a public park. They include sustainable food options and promote sustainable fashion through a pop-up shop featured at the festival.

The Northern Irish-Scottish rock band, who gained mainstream success in the early 2000s, blend indie, alternative rock, and pop elements in their music which often centres around themes of love, loss, and introspection. 

The band’s breakthrough came in 2004 with their album ‘Final Straw’, which featured the UK Top 10 single ‘Run.’ This was followed by their 2006 album ‘Eyes Open’ and the worldwide hit single ‘Chasing Cars’. The song became particularly iconic after being featured in the American TV Series Grey’s Anatomy.

Snow Patrol’s 2025 Tour supports their latest album ‘The Forest Is The Path’, released in 2024. The album emerges from a period of significant transformation for the band, now operating as a trio following the departure of bassist Paul Wilson and drummer Jonny Quinn in 2023.

It features the band’s signature blend of emotive lyrics and melodic rock persists, with a mix of anthems and more subdued tracks. Notable tracks include ‘Hold Me In The Fire’ which is reminiscent of their earlier work and ‘Never Really Tire’ which breaks traditional songwriting conventions as a six-minute piece.

Their upcoming tour will take them across Europe, the UK, Ireland, and North America and commences in Paris on January 30. Following their UK and Ireland performances, the band will head to North America, concluding the tour in Philadelphia in April 2025. Tickets available here.

Joining them for part of this tour is Scottish singer-songwriter Nina Nesbitt, who will serve as one of their special guests. Known for her distinctive voice and heartfelt lyrics, Nesbitt blends pop, folk, and electronic influences in her music.

Her debut album, ‘Peroxide’ (2014), leaned heavily on indie-pop and acoustic styles, while her most recent work, ‘Älskar’ (2022), drew inspiration from her Swedish heritage and featured hits like ‘Summer Fling’ and ‘When You Lose Someone.’ Her candid approach to songwriter has earned her praise from big industry names like Taylor Swift and songwriting credits for artists such as Jess Glynne and Olivia Holt. Having toured with Ed Sheeran in the past, Nesbitt is no stranger to major performances. This tour will coincide with the release of her upcoming album ‘Magic Music’, set to debut on February 21.

The second special guest is Northern Irish alternative rock band The Florentinas, who gained attention through electrifying live performances, which led them to a BBC Introducing session at the renowned Maida Vale Studios.

Their music, characterised by energetic guitar riffs and a blend of indie and alternative rock elements, shines in tracks like ‘Weatherman’ and ‘Sandcastles.’ They have supported notable acts like The Amazons and Stereophonics and have also performed at festivals including Electric Picnic and Other Voices. In recognition of their rising prominence, The Florentinas were awarded the BBC Introducing Aritst of the Year at the Northern Ireland Music Prize in 2022.

Alongside Nesbitt and The Florentinas, Belfast-based Sister Ghost will also join various shows of the tour. Fronted by Shannon Delores O’Neill, Sister Ghost blends explosive guitar riffs and fierce vocals, as showcased in the lead single ‘She’s Wild’ from their debut album ‘Beyond the Water’ (2024).

Sister Ghost has been recognised for their compelling live performances, winning Best Live Act at the Northern Ireland Music Awards in 2019. Beyond music, O’Neill is committed to mentoring emerging female musicians, contributing to initiatives like Girls Rock! to create inclusive spaces in the music industry.

The final special guest announced was Cherym – a Northern Irish indie-rock trio known for their energetic sound, catchy melodies, and empowering lyrics. Fusing elements of punk, pop, and alt-rock, their muisc resonates with themes of self-expression and female empowerment.

Their music is often praised for its unapologetic attitude and raw energy, especially evident  in their 2024 album ‘Take It Or Leave It.’ The band have been recognised as one of the standout bands in Northern Ireland’s indie scene and resonate particularly with young audiences, due to their relatable lyrics and infectious sound. Cherym’s feminist approach to music has also made them an important voice for inclusivity and gender equality within the music industry.

Forest Live takes place every summer in the forests of England and is partially organized and supported by Forestry England. This year, four forests are set to become stages of the festival: Cannock Chase Forest, Delamere Forest, High Lodge Thetford Forest and Westonbirt Arboretum. Forestry England uses the proceeds from the ticket sales to fund their projects, the welfare of forests and the planting of trees. After the 2023 edition, Forest Live revealed that in the festival’s 23 years, more than two million people have attended the festival, and this enabled the Forestry England to plant more 7.4 million trees.

This year, once again, the public is invited to attend and enjoy music while supporting the planet and ensuring the welfare of our British forests. So far the headliners announced are the following: Snow Patrol, Sting, The Script, Elbow, Blossoms, James and Rag’n’Bone Man.

These acts will perform in the different sites where the festival takes place; for example, Snow Patrol will be playing Delamere Forest and Westonbirt Arboretorum, whilst The Script is set for High Lodge and Westonbirt Arboretorum. Sting will play Westonbirt Arboretorum and Cannock Chase Forest.    

Tickets are available starting on the Forest Live website and each concert has a different price, depending on the artist performing as well as the venue. VIP tickets are also available and they include a great view of the stage, luxury facilities and exclusive bars and foods.

Forest Live was first held in 2001, as a way to raise money to protect forests; some of its first headliners included the likes of Ed Sheeran and Motorhead. Over the years, the organizers have chosen sites with bigger capacities and the festival has grown bigger and bigger. Last year, names such as Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Nile Rodgers and CHIC and Van Morrison performed.

In 2019, Tramlines was acquired by festival promotion giant Superstruct Entertainment. Superstruct, after an acquisition spree that peaked during the COVID-19 pandemic, is now the world’s second largest festival promoter. According to IQ magazine, the company currently owns 85 festivals across Europe and Australia, including the UK’s Boardmasters, Bluedot, and Truck festivals. Under the control of Superstruct Entertainment, Tramlines festival has been consistently securing big names in the UK’s alt scene. Announced today, Tramlines’ line up for 2024 continues this trend.

Headliners include Scottish singer/songwriter Paolo Nutini, English singer Jamie T, and Dundee alt-rock band, Snow Patrol, who will be playing on Friday 26th, Saturday 27th, and Sunday the 28th of July respectively. This is not the first time that the two Scottish acts have performed at the same event as both played at Hyde Park’s BT London Live, an event that promoted the opening of the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Brighton indie rock band The Magic Gang, who have recently announced their decision to part ways, are on the festival’s bill. For those unable to attend the band’s farewell UK tour in May, Tramlines festival will be one of the last places that the group will be performing.

As well as acts at the end of their lifespan, acts who have recently found a new lease on life will be attending Hillsborough Park. Sophie Ellis-Bextor, who has recently shot back up into stardom with the resurgence of her 2001 hit ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’, will be playing in Hillsborough Park on Friday the 26th. As well as newfound fame, Tramlines will likely be hosting some newly released music. Off the back of their soon-to-be-released EP, Fantasies, London’s Bombay Bicycle Club will be performing at Tramlines. Since Fantasies is set to release on the 23rd of February, there is a chance that those at the festival will be some of the first to hear a live rendition of the upcoming EP.

With 25,000 people already signed up to the festival’s pre-sale list, tickets are sure to sell out fast. Presale tickets for Tramlines go live tomorrow at 12pm, so if you haven’t signed up yet, you can do so here. Weekend tickets will be available for £130, and day tickets will cost £45. Although it is likely that there will be some tickets available after the pre-sale, prices before and after the pre-sale period may be subject to change. Additionally, Tramlines does not offer on-site camping, meaning that accommodation for those from outside Sheffield will have to be organised separately.

Victorious Festival 2024 will run from August 23-25 with Fatboy Slim and Snow Patrol co-headlining the event’s opening night. Jamie T and Biffy Clyro will then take the headlining spot for Saturday and Sunday night respectively. The 2023 instalment of Victorious Festival featured another star-studded line up as the likes of Mumford and Sons, Kasabian, Kaiser Chiefs, Jamiroquai and Ellie Goulding were amongst the big names of performers.

The festival also houses a comedy stage, and at next year’s event, leaders of the industry Russell Howard and Frankie Boyle will be headlining on Friday and Saturday night at Southsea seafront.

One of the most successful dance artists of all time, the Grammy and Brit award-winning DJ and producer Fatboy Slim will bring a memorable Friday night opening party packed full of hits. His attendance of the festival had previously been teased as a sign saying “Praise You”, in reference to his hit song of the same name, appeared at the event’s location.

The news was shared via Facebook, with the remaining members writing, “Sorry to be the bearer of such sad news but both Jonny Quinn and Paul Wilson have decided to leave Snow Patrol. We are heartbroken they have decided to leave us but we wish them nothing but happiness, success, joy, compassion and everything they want in all their future endeavours.”

The band went on to write individual posts dedicated to Jonny Quinn and Paul Wilson in order to give them a “proper and individual send off.”

Speaking on drummer Jonny Quinn, the band wrote, “Early on it was clear he was more than a drummer.”

They went on to celebrate his 26 years in the band, writing, “His drumming has at times taken on legendary status. His nickname was after all ‘thunderclap’ because he hit the snare drum so hard he was prone to smash right through the drumskin.”

The band shared their gratitude for his time with Snow Patrol, concluding, “We saw the world together, many times. From starting out in the 90s with nothing to what we have become and what we have had the privilege of seeing on tour and in SP’s life together is an honour and one we are all so glad we shared with Jonny.“

In tribute to their bassist Paul Wilson, the band wrote, “He had no fear. It was thrilling to watch.”

They continued, “He played every instrument so bass was maybe a little restrictive for his many talents but we are eternally grateful to him that he did, and did so epically. He has a big beautiful heart and is a deep thinker, and he more than all of us would explore the cities we found ourselves in on tour.”

Having celebrated Wilson’s career with Snow Patrol since 2005, the band concluded, “Thank you for all the awesome times you’ve given us and shared with us Pabs.”

The remaining members, Gary Lightbody, Nathan Connolly and Johnny McDaid confirmed that their 8th studio album is still set for release next year, despite these changes.

Snow Patrol are set to continue on as a trio and plan to share more information on their upcoming album release in due course. In their initial Facebook post that broke the news, they wrote, “More news of that will come at an appropriate time, for now we want to pay homage and give gratitude for all Jonny and Pablo have given us and shared with us these past decades.”

This news broke just weeks after the band celebrated the 20th anniversary of their breakout album, The Final Straw.

Following Simpson’s The Masked Singer win, he shared the announcement of his EP to his fans on Instagram, where he posted a video singing ”Use Somebody” and takes off the Rhino mask he wore on the show. During the video, an on-screen statement from the musician is shown, stating ”Well this has been a hard secret to keep… Reading all of your comments each week has been awesome. Ive been so blown away by all the support. So I’ve decided to release a few songs I sang on the show, as an EP named ‘KIFARU,’ the Swahili word for rhino.I hope you like it. Big love x”

During the final of The Masked Singer and prior to Charlie Simpson’s win, other disguised contestants were revealed. 49-year-old pop-star, Natalie Appleton, from girl group All Saints, was revealed as Fawn, whereas Phoenix was revealed as Kaiser Chief’s frontman, Ricky Wilson. After Simpson was unveiled as the man behind the rhino mask, The Masked Singer panellist Rita Ora asked Simpson, ”So can I ask you, were you taken back by the experience?” to which he responded ”I was terrified the entire time because the thing I was scared most about was remembering lyrics, because I often forget lyrics to my own songs on stage.”

During his Unmasked interview, he explains that the experience was a ”rollacoaster of emotions” and reflects on his time on the show.

 The Dad-of-two is renowned for his distinctive vocal tone and astounding music career, during bands and as a solo artist, releasing twelve studio albums overall. Charlie Simpson is most well-known for being a part of Pop-Punk band, Busted, from Southend-On-Sea, Essex. Alongside Simpson, the band consists of James Bourne and Matt Willis. During their career, the band has had four UK number one singles and released four studio albums, self-titled album Busted (2002), A Present for Everyone (2003), Night Driver (2016) and Half Way There (2019). Selling over five million records, the band also won two Brit awards. Charlie Simpson also fronted London Rock band, FightStar, with band members Alex Westaway, Omar Abidi and Dan Haigh. FightStar released four studio albums as a band before their hiatus in 2015, Grand Unification (2006), Be Human (2009), One Day Son, This Will All Be Yours (2007) and Behind the Devil’s Back (2015). Simpson also succeeded in a career as a solo artist releasing four studio albums, Young Pilgrim (2011), Long Road home (2014), Little Hands (2016) and Hope is A Drug (2022).

The band from Northern Ireland and Scotland, which includes Sheeran’s long-time collaborator, Johnny Mcdaid, played the closing slot on the Suffolk festival’s main stage last night with a fourteen-song setlist.

This time Sheeran returned the favour after Snow Patrol joined him for one of his secret shows at Latitude 2015 to sing the band’s hit “Chasing Cars.” Towards the end of the show, the band introduced Sheeran, and they proceeded to play Sheeran’s smash hit “Bad Habits” to the delight of the crowd. Sheeran then returned for the encore and joined the band on their hit song “Just Say Yes.”

Sheeran is currently on the European leg of his ‘ + – = ÷ x ‘ (pronounced Mathematics) world tour and seemingly took the break in his tour schedule to pop home and take in his local festival. Sheeran grew up in nearby Framlingham, Suffolk and now lives there with his wife and their two daughters. Sheeran recently finished the UK leg of his tour, rounding it off with five nights at London’s Wembley Stadium on July 1^st. Sheeran will resume the tour playing the Stade De France in Paris, France, on July 29^th for a two-night stint.

Snow Patrol are also currently on a European tour which will resume In Schaffhausen, Switzerland, on August 4th, 2022. The band announced on Twitter earlier in the month that they will be playing an acoustic show on August 31^st, 2022, at the Mckee Clock Arena, Bangor. Latitude Festival is one of the more relaxed and family-friendly festivals of the summer, with sit-down restaurants and an on-site wellness retreat adding to the friendly atmosphere.  On Saturday night, the Oxford band Foals closed out the day “in vicious style…their 90-minute set is a celebration of their party-starting potency as the band further cement their place as guitar-driven masters of the rave,” NME said in their review of the festival. The always candid crooner Lewis Capaldi headlined on Friday, announcing to the crowd that the reason for the lack of new material was that he spent most of the lockdown “masturbating away.”

Snow Patrol, Sheeran and Capaldi weren’t the only British musical acts making waves at the festival, with Welsh legends, The Manic Street Preachers taking the stage before Snow Patrol. NME saying that the band’s performance of their song, “If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next” felt “particularly poignant, especially with so many parents singing along surrounded by their young children.”

So far, the organizers have not revealed any information on the days each artist will perform, but I imagine all of the relevant information will come as we near the on-sale date. To get on top of all of the relevant information you can sign up here. Until then, however, we have been given the stage splits. Alongside our headliners, the Obelisk Arena (which I will refer to as the main stage) will also see the likes of American breakthrough singer-songwriter Maggie Rogers, mercury prize nominee Little Simz, and Rina Sawayama whose recent collaboration with Charli XCX took fans by storm. The main stage will also see the likes of a few more… let’s say old-school bands, with Manic Street Preachers, Modest Mouse, and Shed Seven all making appearances. It’d be unreasonable to put Lewis Capaldi on a lineup and not include James Arthur, just as any festival of this calibre needs a hit-filled set of bangers from someone like Example.

Next, we see the BBC Sounds Stage and its slightly different approach to selecting the tunes. With headlining slots by the one and only Phoebe Bridgers, dance-duo Groove Armada bring their mesmerizing energy to the tent, and Fontaines D.C. will be taking their new record Skinty Fia for a spin soon after its April release date. Appearances from Kae Tempest, Cavetown, Maximo Park, Porridge Radio, and a significant chunk of others should provide for most people with even a mild interest in music.

The Sunrise Arena will feature the likes of Let’s Eat Grandma, cktrl, and KEG to possibly introduce you to your favourite new band of the year, the Comedy tent is proud to announce its first headliner as Russel Howard; with additional appearances from The Horne Section, Rosy Jones, and David O’Doherty to name a few. And, according to the festival itself, “It wouldn’t be Latitude without an eclectic range of names from the worlds of dance, poetry, podcasts and more.”  So expect a whole host of other talks, events, meetings, and activities over the course of the weekend.
