The iconic rapper surprised fans as the model for their 2025-26 home kit recently, as reported by BBC Sport.

Since then, it’s been announced that Snoop has joined the club’s ownership group. In a statement on A.F.C’s official website, Snoop wrote: ““My love of football is well known, but it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City.”

“The story of the club and the area really struck a chord with me. This is a proud, working class city and club. An underdog that bites back, just like me.”

“I’m proud to be part of Swansea City. I am going to do all I can to help the club, and I look forward to getting to know all my YJBS.”

Tom Gorringe, Swansea City chief executive, continued: “It is very exciting for us as a football club to formally welcome Snoop Dogg as a co-owner and investor into Swansea City.

“His enjoyment and love of football is well documented, and he has often spoken of a desire to get more involved in the sport. We are delighted he believes that being part of Swansea City is the right way to realise that ambition.

“Dogg is passionate about this project and helping us continue to raise the profile of the club to as wide an audience as possible.”

This isn’t Snoop’s first venture into the business of sports. He worked as a correspondent for NBC and a symbol for Team USA at last year’s Olympics, making appearances at events and even carrying the Olympic torch.

The rapper/businessman has also had close involvement in American football. His Snoop Youth Football League was born in 2005, giving kids aged 5-13 opportunities with football and cheerleading in Los Angeles. Since its establishment, the league has put over 50 players in the NFL.

As far as football/soccer goes, Snoop has said that he’s a longtime fan of Celtic F.C., and that he wishes to buy shares in them. He’s also developed a unique tradition for his EU performances – for many of his European concerts, he’ll wear the football shirt for the team of the city he’s playing in. The LA legends released ‘Outta Da Blue’ in November before the album dropped on December 13. Now it’s been found that the two hip hop stars sourced a sample from the song ‘Watermelon Fantasy’, released by the charity Daylight Studio in 2018.

The sampled track was performed by three artists with learning disabilities and produced by the founder of Daylight Studio and one of its trustees. Daylight is a day centre for adults with learning disabilities, run by Islington Council.

‘Watermelon Fantasy’ is an abstract piece, featuring industrial synths, booming 808’s, jolty percussion rhythms and echoey vocals. Dre and Snoop’s reworking loops part of the song with some added funky drums beneath it.

Tina Bruins, one of the featured artists on the original, told the Guardian: “I was shocked. I remember being like: ‘Whaaaaaat?’ I didn’t know it was going to be released by Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg. I thought no, I thought it was a fantasy.”

She added that “It was a good shock because it sort of proves I make good music. I’m proud of [‘Watermelon Fantasy’] because Snoop Dogg took it over.”

Jack Daley, a recording engineer, and Oliver Price, a music producer and songwriter, created the track with Tina Bruins, Mandy Priddice and Cedrick Letshou Olembo while hosting music sessions at the day centre. The proceeds from the collaboration are to be split equally by the three artists, with production shares being donated back to the Daylight charity.

Daley was happy to be sampled by Dre, telling The Guardian “This is the biggest thing that’s ever happened to me, and I’m pretty certain I can say that this year has been the best year of my life because of it.”

Price said “I still can’t believe it’s a real thing. It sort of feels divinely ordained because the song is called ‘Outta Da Blue’ and it came out of the blue and it’s like we’re living in a watermelon fantasy. It’s all quite funny really.”

Since its November release, ‘Outta Da Blue’ has been featured in the trailer for Netflix’s upcoming film Back In Action featuring Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz, American football game Madden NFL 25, and in an Amazon Music Live series where Snoop performs hits from his extensive discography.

‘Missionary’, the new collab album from the California duo has featured a wide array of samples, plucking material from jazz artists like Ahmad Jamal, soul from The Stylistics, and even a few rock samples from Sting, Pink Floyd and Tom Petty.

All creators of ‘Watermelon Fantasy‘ would like to do more collabs with local and international artists using Daylight Studio’s music. Price hopes “maybe this won’t be the last sample. It would be awesome if Kendrick Lamar or Drake or someone would use it. You just don’t know.”

Dre and Snoops new album has received generally favourable reviews – while Slant Magazine branded its maximalist production as “sonic overindulgence” that sounds “ultimately uninspired”, The Independent complimented it as “relentlessly interesting” and praised Snoop’s inspired performance. It will feature over 25 DJ’s from around the world who will perform via 4 digital the platform ‘Naoz.’ Artists already confirmed to perform include, Tchami, Boyz Noize, David Guetta, Diplo, Martin Garrix, Charlotte de Witte, Duck Sauce, Snoop Dogg, Jack Black and many more to set the party alight.

Tomorrowland held their first digital festival in July due to the pandemic. The result was very successful with over 1 million fans paying to attend, which was an increase of more than %150 ticket holders than previous events.

Organizers have described the New Years Eve event to Billboard as, “a virtual entertainment world [that] will bring musicians, artists and communities across the globe together, offering people a spectacular way to experience digital concerts and performances with the world’s best technology in 3-D design, video production and special effects.”

The event will feature four different stages and will begin at 8.30pm and end at 3am in every time zone. The Melodia stage will feature artists such as Charlotte De Witte, David Guetta, Like Mike and Armin Van Buuren. The headliners for the Atmosphere stage, which is the main stage will feature Arbat, Meduza, Camelphat and Maceo Plex.

Michiel Beers, co-founder of the Tomorowland’s event said to Billboard about the event, “We believe that digital will exist next to live.  We also believe that we have to create moments that people really want to see [us] livestream in a special way, and really see it as a small event.”

David Guetta collaborated with Sia for another song ‘Let’s Love’ in September. Their previous hits included ‘Titanium,’ ‘She Wolf,’ ‘Flames,’ and more. NME reported him to of said during a press statement, “During this time of isolation, I’ve been incredibly inspired to release music that has an uplifting energy.” 

He Continued by saying,  “I love producing club tracks but at the same time, especially now, I feel like creating ‘feel-good’ music. ‘Let’s Love’ is a message of love, hope and bringing people together and once again, Sia has out done herself on the vocals.”

The pass is priced at 20 euros for a day pass, which will include access to all four stages, whilst a 25 euros NYE pass plus will allow ticket holders access to the performances from 1st-14th January. A 50 euros home celebration pass will include four on-demand passes. They will be available via the Tomorrowland Website.

The petition, currently at over 45,000 signatures, was created following a clip of Snoop Dogg’s Plizzanet Earth quickly going viral, with fans confident that the rapper’s idiosyncratic vocabulary will prove to be a worthy replacement for David Attenborough’s infamous soothing commentary. Whether or not the BBC, who are the producers of Planet Earth, will consider such a drastic shift in the tone of the show remains to be seen.

The 26 year old died in hospital after what police described as a “brutal assault” at the festival on 7th June. The news of Hart’s death was confirmed by police on Thursday. It has been reported that Hart was assaulted after stepping in to protect his girlfriend from being repeatedly struck with an inflatable toy during the wait for Snoop Dogg’s headline set at the festival.

In a statement released today by Hart’s family, it was said that “Robert, Bobby, Uncle Bob, different names to different people, but to friends and family and everyone who knew Robert, he was simply “awesome”. Robert had a love of music and a love of life.”

Greater Manchester Police say the man they believe is responsible for the attack is approximately 25 years old, six fee tall, with short, curly, black hair shaved at the sides and have revealed an E-fit image (above right). He was wearing shorts and a blue, bomber-style jacket with the letter ‘A’ in white on the front.

A statement from Parklife’s organisers states that “Everyone involved in Parklife is devastated by today’s deeply sad announcement. Our sincerest and heartfelt condolences go out to Rob’s family and friends at this difficult time. We will continue to assist Greater Manchester Police with its investigation and urge anyone that may have witnessed the incident to contact the Police through any official channel available to them.”
