Canadian singer-songwriter Mac Demarco has announced that he will set off on a ten-date world tour this summer in support of his latest album Five Easy Hot Dogs. The tour will include three shows in Paris and London respectively.

Commencing the tour in mid-July, Mac will play in LA (his first tour show since 2022) before playing three consecutive dates at Webster Hall in New York. He will then travel to Paris to play at Cabaret Sauvage for three shows and end the tour with a three-date residency at Hackney Empire, London.

Sharing the announcement on his Facebook Mac wrote that the tour “Should be nice, should be different, hopefully, it will be special. Hope to see you there”.

Mac dropped his fifth studio album Five Easy Hot Dogs on the 20th January. Though, unlike his previous albums, it’s comprised of instrumental numbers Mac’s laidback and mellow signature style is still present. It received generally positive reviews from critics.

In true chilled-out drifter attitude, Mac had no set plan when recording the record instead taking inspiration from his time on the road. “The plan was to start driving north, and not go home to Los Angeles until I was done with a record,” said Mac in a press release. “Kind of like being on tour, except there weren’t any shows, and I’d just be burning money.”

He expanded to say that the people he met shaped the album: “Some places I stayed longer in than others, some of them I knew from the past, others not so much. I tried to keep things busy all the time. If I didn’t know what was up in a city, I’d just walk around ‘til someone recognized me and go from there. I met a lot of interesting people this way, and had a bunch of cool experiences.”

Watch the accompanying visuals to the album below:

The slacker-rock icon is adored by Gen Z for his viral TikTok hits such as “Heart to Heart” and “Chamber of Reflection”. MacBriare Samuel Lanyon DeMarco first began recording as a solo artist in 2011 after moving to Montreal. His second album, Salad Days, peaked at number 30 on the US Billboard 200 and 90 on the UK Album Charts and from there, Mac’s fame has only risen.

Last weekend was a busy time for Mac with the singer clambering onto the Coachella stage not once but twice to the surprise and delight of attendees. The Garden brought out the singer to add their chaotic performance on the 14th April. DeMarco and iconic bassist and vocalist Thundercat also joined the Jazz duo DOMi and JD BECK on the same day.

Unlike many bands who have been forced to postpone and reschedule tours and shows due to COVID-19 related issues, Jordan had to cancel her shows due to a need to undergo vocal cord surgery. Jordan said in an interview with NME in November: “I went to see an ENT last week and they found massive polyps in my vocal cords (surprisingly from vocal trauma due to talking!! shocker lol) that need to be operated on to prevent permanent damage to my voice. The recovery time is three months/speech therapy and in an effort to make sure the rest of the tour can happen, I will be postponing our first US tour which was supposed to begin this week as well as our initial UK/Euro tour.”

Earlier this year, Snail Mail released her second full-length studio album Valentine which comes three years after her 2018 debut Lush. The album has been widely celebrated by fans and critics. A glowing review by Pitchfork said of the record: “Lindsey Jordan’s exquisite second album documents love in all stages, but mostly in disrepair. She takes on a larger and poppier sound while keeping her songwriting dazzlingly sharp and passionate.”

The album, which was released through Matador Records, is available on all streaming services, and physical media can be purchased here.

Snail Mail has very quickly moved up the ranks of indie rock and pop since the project’s inception in 2015. Jordan’s first E.P. entitled Sticki was self-recorded, and very soon after its release, she began playing shows with a full band. In 2016, the project’s second E.P. Habit was released on Polygon Records. This marked a turning point for Jordan in regard to the project’s popularity, with the song “Thinning” being featured on Pitchfork’s series Best New Tracks and resulted in Snail Mail signing with music booking agency Ground Control Touring. The following year, Jordan would sign with Matador Records, who released her debut album.

To re-iterate, Snail Mail’s UK and European tour will commence on the 6th of June 2022. Tickets can be purchased here, and listed down below are the UK dates.

The new single dropped today under artist name Snail Mail, the Indie solo project by 22-year-old guitarist Lindsey Jordan. Jordan provided the following statement concerning her new release, “I am excited to share this one! In summation it’s about why love can’t exist between a person and a concept of a person. Remove the pedestal and you might realize there was never anything there at all.”

To accompany the new single, Jordan also paired the release with a new music video. Within the video, Jordan can be seen performing with a live band at the Armour-Stiner Octagon House located in New York.

The new single is the latest track to be taken from the singer’s upcoming album, Valentine, set to be released on 5th November 2021 via Matador. The album was produced by talented producer Brad Cook, known for his work with Bon Iver. “Madonna” marks the third single to be released from the singer’s forthcoming second studio album. The album’s title track “Valentine” was released on 15th September 2021 and the second single “Ben Franklin” dropped on 13th October 2021. Both singles’ have garnered critical and commercial success whilst propelling interest for the upcoming album.

Entertainment Weekly gave the following review for the album’s title track. “‘Valentine’ is as auspicious a first taste as we could hope for, gorgeously robust and sonically adventurous. [It] feels anything but small. It is bolder, catchier, and more expansive than its predecessor. From her sorrow and solitude, Jordan reemerges as one of indie rock’s most astute, confident, and compelling songwriters.”

The single’s press release gives the following description of Jordan’s new album: “Written in 2019-2020 the album is filled with romance, heartbreak, blood, sweat and tears. But Valentine is poised and self-possessed, channelling its anger and dejection into empowering revenge fantasies and rewriting the narrative of its own fate.”

Jordan has often been compared to a collection of celebrated artists from the 90s, the most prominent being Elliott Smith. Within the press release this influence is noted, “…with digitized electronic inflected anthems, swooning baroque FM rockers, smoldering slow-jam R&B and some of the most gorgeous and heart-rending finger-picked guitar ballads this side of Elliott Smith. The star of the show however is Lindsey’s voice – no longer the prodigal wunderkind, her vocals and words are rawer, deeper, snarlier and more feeling than ever before.”

Often accredited with the recent resurgence in 90’s rock, Snail Mail has taken the world by storm since her debut release. Her first studio album, Lush, was released on June 8th 2018 and was written at age 17. The artist’s individualist talent was soon spotted, and the singer’s star began to rise. Jordan began to gain recognition within respected musical institutions, in 2019 the singer was included within Billboard’s 21 under 21 list. The New York Times described Jordan as “an innovator, creating fresh expectations for what a complex artistic statement from a young voice can sound like today.”

In support of her upcoming new full-length release, the singer is set to embark on a worldwide tour. The tour will start with a collection of live performances across North America and will continue into the UK and Europe. Fans will be able to catch the UK leg of her tour next year, Jordan will kick off four UK performances In Manchester on 18Th February 2022.

Snail Mail has announced her second album Valentine with a somewhat bloody music video of her title track.

The album is set to come out later this year and will follow up on Lindsey Jordan’s 2018 debut album Lush. The new release will land on November 5th via Matador and will be toured around the UK next year.

Jordan said in a statement on NME “I wanted to take as much time as possible with this record to make sure I was happy with every detail before unleashing it unto y’all. Referring to the process as the deepest level of catharsis and therapy I have ever experienced would be a huge understatement. ‘Valentine’ is my child!”

The music video that accompanied this announcement is a gory and highly dramatic piece in which Jordan plays a chambermaid to a high-society woman with whom she has an illicit affair. However, she discovers her lover with a man and is distraught and goes on a binge of drinking stuffing her face with cake. All of which then leads to her eventually murdering him.

You can view the music video below though you may only be able to view the video directly on YouTube due to the gore in the video.

Speaking of the video, she then added: “It was so rewarding concocting this video alongside the brilliant Josh Coll! Watching a few perverse images in my head metamorphose into this gorgeous storyline and eventually into a tangible visual was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

“We connected over a mutual interest in the intersection between terror and devastating beauty. But also Tim and Eric and watered down ginger ale, which I had to drink a shocking amount of in those drink-bombing scenes.”

After the album’s release, Snail Mail will then embark on a huge US tour in November, before she reaches the UK and Europe in early 2022. You can pre-order and pre-save the album here.
