During the London show of his On The Road Again tour, Shawn Mendes decided to bring out Irish singer Niall Horan which made fans erupt with excitement.

As Shawn welcomed him onto the stage, he said “I met this fella years ago, I was probably 16 or 17. I came into the industry and I was terrified of everything and everyone. We talk a lot… but this man has been an older brother to me.” He then added “I love him with all my heart, please welcome Niall Horan.”

Fans were not only thrilled to see this duo on stage together, but were also emotional as they were trying to hold back tears. Shawn took to Instagram to share the moment with glimpses of fan reactions and Niall Horan walking on stage with a guitar and hugging him. Moments after Niall reposted it onto his Instagram story, and wrote, “Thanks for having me @shawnmendes. Love ya.” With the post nearly on one million likes and over 10,000 comments, fans have been leaving messages such as ‘I LOVE YOU BOTH SO MUCH’ and ‘It was an insane night! Thank you for making it so special!’ This London show is part of Shawn Mendes’ On The Road Again Tour with this stop being the only show in the UK.

However, this isn’t the first time the pair have been on stage together. In March 2024, Niall Horan toured around the UK as part of The Show Live On Tour, and at his London show he decided to bring out Shawn Mendes on stage and the pair sang ‘Treat You Better’ together.

At the time, Shawn coming on stage was a complete surprise as he hadn’t been involved in the music scene since his album ‘Wonder’ had come out in 2020.

Niall Horan has also been fairly quiet in the recent months, however a few days ago, he celebrated the 5th anniversary of his album ‘Heartbreak Weather’. 

He released a 5 year anniversary edition of the album as limited edition CDs and Vinyls which are available now for fans to purchase.

There were similar fans’ reactions in both cases when the duo sang together, with one fan saying ‘SHAILL TWICE ON STAGE IN 2 YEARS????’, but overall was definitely a surprise the fans enjoyed.

Shawn Mendes is next performing at Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, Netherlands on August 20.

Dalziel, 22, admitted 11 copyright offences at Luton Crown Court, including three counts of acquiring and possessing criminal property and one count of transferring criminal property.

It was reported that Dalziel’s actions came to light when Sony Music Entertainment discovered a cloud account owned by American singer-songwriter Upsahl had been compromised, allegedly by Dalziel, and was consequently reported to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) in June 2021.

According to the police, roughly 40 unreleased tracks were extracted from the account and sold illegally online.

A hacker who stole unreleased music from artists including Coldplay and sold it online, has been sentenced to 21 months imprisonment, suspended for 24 months.

Detective Constable Daryl Fryatt, from the Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit noted: “Stealing copyrighted material for your own financial gain is illegal. It jeopardises the work of artists and the livelihoods of the people who work with them to create and release music”.

Dalziel was arrested by police on January 9, 2023, where officers seized three drives with an estimated 291,941of unreleased music tracks contained on them.

It was also reported that the police located a spreadsheet curated by Dalziel, which showed the tracks she had sold to customers, along with her PayPal and bank accounts that had received £42,049 from the stolen goods, between April 2021 and January 2023.

The City of London Police have also revealed that some of Dalziel’s profits were allegedly sent to bank accounts owned by individuals in the United States. The institution warned it was collaboratively working with Homeland Security Investigations to unveil the owners of these bank accounts.

The Prosecutor Richard Partridge from Luton Crown Court, stated: Dalziel “selfishly used their music to make money for herself by selling it on the dark web”.

Skylar Dalziel’s guilty plea meant she was sentenced to 21 months’ imprisonment, suspended for 24 months, alongside 180 hours of unpaid work.

Detective Constable Fryatt continued to provide hindsight to the sentencing and the online culture of leaked tracks, stating: “[it] sends a clear message that we have the ability and tools to locate cyber criminals and hold them to account for their actions”.

This year’s Global Citizen Live will take place in Rio de Janerio, London, Seoul, Los Angles, Sydney, Lagos, France’s capital city Paris and US city New York City and will include various artist’s live performances as well as pre-recorded sets. The worldwide concert aims to promote unity whilst rallying citizens of the world to urge major conglobates, governments and politicians as well as philanthropists to band together to help the world’s poverty-stricken communities and help rectify the recent global issues.

The global event has been dated to take place this September to match with the UN General Assembly which is also taking place this September. Global Citizen Live will also coincide with other important meetings and summits including the G20 and COP26 set to take later on in 2021. Each act performing will be taking part in a 24-hour historic musical event, the concerts will be aired over many broadcasted mediums including ABC, ABC News Live, BBC, FX, IHeartRadio, Hulu, YouTube, TIME, Twitter as well as many more social media and televised channels.

Ed Sheeran will join the impressive list of artists billed to perform in Paris, joining the ‘Shape of You’ singer are hitmakers Black Eyed Peas, H.E.R., Dj Snake, Christine and the Queens and ‘Kiss Me More’ singer Doja Cat.  The line-up featured in Lagos include musician Femi Kuti, singer-songwriter Davido, Made Kuti and MTV Europe music award winner Tiwa Savage.

New York City’s event will take place at the famous landmark, Central Park, Global Citizen has been hosting events at the famed landmark since 2012. Performing at the city’s venue includes a vast array of artists such as ‘Bad Guy’ singer Billie Eilish and former Fifth Harmony member Camila Cabello. Also included to play the city that never sleeps are British hitmakers Coldplay, legendary artist Jennifer Lopez, ‘Good as Hell’ singer Lizzo, Shawn Mendes and rapper Meek Mill. New York City’s event will also see performances by special guests Burna Boy and Lang Lang, also set to take the stage at Central Park is 80’s pop icon Cyndi Lauper, known for her ‘Girl’s Just Want To Have Fun’ mega-hit.

Other artists donating themselves to the cause include Queen + Adam Lambert singer Adam Lambert, Alessia Cara, Opera tenor singer Andrea Bocelli, Angélique Kidjo, BTS, Demi Lovato, legendary 80’s band Duran Duran, iconic punk rockers Green Day, Hugh Jackman & Deborra-Lee Furness, Jon Batiste, Country music artist Keith Urban, ‘Royals’ singer-songwriter Lorde, The Lumineers, thrash metal pioneers Metallica, Rag ‘ n’ Bone Man, Ricky Martin, The Weeknd and Usher with even more acts to be announced.

Potential ticket-holders must earn their way into the amazing event by winning their tickets and each location has its own draw. You must begin by downloading the Global Citizen app and creating an account, within this app users can sign petitions, write letters to government officials and politicians, share news and messages via social media plus many more actions. These actions can earn users points, which they can then use to enter to win tickets to the event. The first collection of actions was released on 10th August 2021, fans have until 24th August 2021 to fulfil enough actions to place them in the competition to receive tickets. Sets tend to be 30 minutes long, with original songs, covers, and chats with viewers. Previously, Coldplay kicked the sessions off with Chris Martin’s solo show. Other artists who have participated include John Legend, Niall Horan, Charlie Puth, and Picture This planned to perform tonight at 9pm on Instagram Live.

The latest to perform are Camila Cabello and boyfriend Shawn Mendes, duetting Ed Sheeran’s song ‘Kiss Me’ on Friday afternoon (20th March). The pair sat outside while Mendes played the guitar and they giggled through the song. MTV were watching, commenting that the laughing made it better. Cabello also reminded viewers that she and Mendes had already covered the song in 2017.

Mendes said during the live-stream that “this is a time were I think everyone should be extremely, extremely forgiving and kind to themselves” while Cabello urged fans to distance themselves to prevent the spread of Covid-19. When viewers were asked what they were up to, one fan joked “washing my hands”, prompting a conversation about hand washing.

Songs which they chose to sing included ‘Misplaced in Japan’ by Mendes, ‘Havana’ by Camila Cabello, and their 2019 collaboration ‘Señorita’. Cabello also gave fans a slight spoiler, telling them that Mendes had shown her some of his new songs and they are “pretty magical”. He had previously broken news of a new album on his Instagram story in February.

Prior to the concert, Mendes posted to his Instagram with the caption “I know times are scary right now but I just wanted to check in with you all.” The singer has always been an advocate for important causes, founding the Shawn Mendes Foundation which supports children’s education and mental health. He has also worked with Global Citizen before, playing at their 2018 festival in New York. Cabello has shown her support for various charities for low-income families and children, as well as donating all proceeds of her song ‘Havana’ to the American Civil Liberties Union for Dreamers (ACLU).
