Working Men’s Club have announced that they’re finished work on their second album.

This comes off the back of the band’s first release their self-titled debut album which came out in 2020 and was soon followed up in March by a brand new single called “X” both of which received much acclaim.

The Yorkshire-based synthpop group also had success earlier this year when they won Best Creative Packaging for their debut album at AIM Awards 2021 alongside the likes of other winners such as Arlo Parks, ENNY, Fontaines D.C. and Jayda G.

Frontman Sydney Minsky-Sargeant has now shared the news that the band has finished their second album which they have not revealed the name of yet and it’s on the way. He wrote on Twitter “Can’t wait to release new music. The 2nd album is done. Me and Ross have worked tirelessly together on it this past year and I’m really proud of the outcome.”

As with the rest of the world and much of the music industry as a whole, everything been put on hold.
Despite being ready to get back on the saddle and get back to writing new material, Tomlinson has been taking the lockdown very easy telling The Telegraph “I’ve just watched loads of s___ TV,” he says after a long pause. “The Undoing is decent, isn’t it?”. Whereas most musicians would be taking the time indoors to be getting their creative juices flowing Tomlinson has only just announced that things are starting up again we some news of a live-stream gig.

Tomlinson gave us an insight into how he went about making sure his latest and first studio album was serious and meant everything he’s been through. “I’m very, very excited. I had basically penciled down a plan before corona took over our lives, and now it’s kind of given me a little bit of time to really get into what I want to say and what I want things to sound like. Because, you know, I was really proud of my first record, but there were moments that I felt were truer to me than others.”

Tomlinson has stuck true to his word about making his songs true to him. Again speaking to The Telegraph he alluded to the tragic passing of his mother and sister dedicating a single to them “maybe because I’ve had real dark moments in my life, they’ve given me scope for optimism. In the grand scheme of things, of what I’ve experienced, these everyday problems…they don’t seem so bad.”. The single in question is called ‘Two Of Us’. Tomlinson’s mother died in 2016 after a battle with leukemia and his sister passed away in 2019 due to an accidental drug overdose.

Releasing back in January of this year (2020) Walls to great success, debuting at number 4 in the UK and number 9 on the Billboard 200 chart. This makes it the first new album for Arista Records in almost nine years to hit the top 10 on the chart. Even though Tomlinson’s plans to tour and performs shows have been put on hold he is doing a live-stream gig in December on the 12th with all proceeds going to charity. Catch the live show here!

whilst writing new material Tomlinson has “been getting inspiration from Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante, but admits he hasn’t reached out as he thinks the rocker is “too cool” to speak to him.” With Louis feeling ready to write we could be seeing a short time between albums after he’s done some touring and shows (when Covid permits it).
