In an eagerly anticipated announcement, Truck Festival has revealed its headline acts for its 2024 edition. Set against the picturesque backdrop of Hill Farm in Steventon, Oxfordshire, the festival, taking place from 25 to 28 July, has become a staple in the UK’s summer calendar. Leading the stellar lineup are the formidable headliners: Jamie T, Wet Leg, The Streets, and IDLES.

The anticipation is particularly high for Jamie T, who organisers claim is “one of the most requested headliners in Truck Festival history.” Alongside this, Wet Leg, the Brit Award-winning “Best New Artist” of 2023, will be making their UK festival headline debut. Meanwhile, the Thursday night slot is reserved for the energetic and politically charged IDLES, who are expected to showcase tracks from their upcoming album ‘TANGK,’ set to be released on February 16, read more about ‘TANGK’ here. The festival’s grand finale will be brought by The Streets, alias Mike Skinner, who released the critically acclaimed album ‘The Darker The Shadow, The Brighter The Light’ last year.

The diverse lineup also includes renowned acts such as The Kooks, Declan McKenna, Yard Act, Holly Humberstone, The Magic Gang, and English Teacher, along with emerging talents like Willie J Healey. Sea Girls, Black Honey, Peace, The Snuts, Sundara Karma, with many more set to grace the stages at Hill Farm. The Magic Gang’s presence in the Truck 2024 lineup has sparked speculation, given their recent breakup announcement and plans for a farewell tour. Despite confirming their final show, it remains unclear if the band will perform at the festival.

Truck Festival’s Head Of Marketing, Sam Harris, expressed his enthusiasm for the lineup, stating, “Truck 2024 is a landmark year for us, and we can’t wait to see everyone there!” Harris added, “Whether it’s discovering new favourites, diving into mosh-pits, or enjoying the amazing comedy and family entertainment on offer – Truck 2024 promises to be a special weekend.”

A ticket pre-sale is scheduled for 18:00 GMT on Thursday (January 25) with general sales opening at 10:00 on Friday (January 26). Tickets start at £140 for the weekend, with an early-bird option priced at £175, allowing entry on Thursday to catch the electrifying performance by IDLES. Both pay-in-full and payment plan options are available. Tickets can be purchased on the official festival website via this link.

Truck Festival, conceived by brothers Robin and Joe Bennett in 1998, has come a long way from its humble beginnings with an actual truck as the stage. More acts are expected to be announced in the coming weeks, building on the success of last year’s headliners Royal Blood, Alt-J, Two Door Cinema Club, and The Wombats.

Sea Girls are set to sponsor local Sunday League football teams and share upcycled shirts for charity as part of a new scheme. The indie 4 piece are collaborating with Classic Football Shirts ahead of their upcoming ‘Hometown’ UK tour, and will sponsor local teams nominated by their fans in each of the cities they will play. Every team chosen will then receive a full set of Sea Girls-sponsored Umbro kits. Sea Girls frontman Henry Camamile described how the idea came about as he stated: “[New album] ‘Homesick’ was written to reflect everybody’s hometowns, so being able to give something back to our fans in this way is really important. We hope that by supporting fans’ local football teams with free upcycled kits, we will in a small way be giving something back to their communities and help with raising awareness for these teams”.

Classic Football Shirts also said “We’re delighted to be helping Sea Girls give something back to their fans and local communities through football. There’s now a strong list of artists and bands sponsoring their favourite football teams, but this idea to sponsor local grassroots clubs along the tour route for the band shows how much they care about their fans and it gives everyone a chance to get involved. The first kit with AFC Muswell Hill has come out brilliantly and we’re already excited to see how all these teams get on in these shirts this season.” You can view how an alternative version of the kit will look below.

Indie rock band Sea Girls yesterday (January 21) shared an emotive new single, “Sleeping With You” an open, raw and honest track. The latest single sees a candid frontman in Henry Camamile with his head in America; he opens up in an acoustic-led song that exudes emotion and slowly builds into an explosive track that makes its mark on the listener and leaves nothing to the imagination. Sea Girls shared the news of their release via their social media pages.

Frontman Henry Camamile said of the track: “This song is about dreaming of your American ex-girlfriend instead of the girl you’re with right now. It’s a warning to not waste your time on me as my heart is still with another, so I’ll only let you down. It’s about not letting yourself love anyone else, although you know you should.” You can hear the song below.

The new track is taken from their upcoming new album Homesick produced by Larry Hibbitt and featuring co-production from Jacknife Lee, Jonny Coffer and Cass Lowe is set to be released on March 25 via Polydor. Fans can pre-order the new record here.

The Leicester-based band who were first formed in London in 2015 tackled many themes including mental health, drug use and regret on their breakthrough debut album, Open Your Head. The follow-up also looks to address equally stark themes. Camamile previously told NME. “I thought a lot about mortality and dying – what it means to be alive and how lucky we are. All the songs came after the pandemic started, so thematically it intensified things.”

“The whole environment felt way more intense. We missed quite a significant moment in our lives because we should have been out playing all of our first album shows. We’re moving on and we’re bringing something different. We could have made the first album again but we didn’t. We were really ruthless, we skimmed out any excess. It’s better than the first record and we feel so proud of it.”

Sea Girls are also set to go out on tour later the year with some European dates and a run of shows at UK indie record stores as well as some festival dates.

Sea Girls share their latest single ‘Sick’, frontman Henry Camamile told NME about how their “incredibly direct” song proved a turning point for their anticipated new album ‘Homesick’.

This will be the band’s first new music since their 2020 debut album ‘Open Your Head’ which hit Number Three in the charts, ‘Sick’ acts as Camamile said to NME an “example of their ambition for the record.”

He continued “It was written in one of the periods of lockdown just after the first time it opened back up, I went home for lockdown, I just felt like something big was going to happen.”

When talking about the inspiration behind his lyrics “It’s just basically me listing everything I’m pissed off with at the time. It’s anything from shit that isn’t good for me through to things I used to love, like being sick of The Beatles. It was like a ‘Fuck, I’m at the end of my tether’ kind of thing.”

He further expands that “While writing it, the last line of the song was ‘I’m sick that I never ask how you really feel.’ I was like, ‘Fuck man, I’m so self-absorbed, why don’t I think about other people like my family or my band?’ It made me think, ‘I always whine about how I’m doing. I’m sick of myself, let’s change the fucking record’.”

Sick is the first single to be taken from our forthcoming new album `Homesick’ coming out in January 2022! https://t.co/i61qINTJPT pic.twitter.com/MIHWHaxC8O

Camamile revealed that this acted as a moment to begin again and wipe everything clean to start the next chapter for the band in the creation of a “wider-looking, more open and thoughtful” collection of songs.

“I think that was a big thing for this album and the writing, this song opened my mind. There’s a lot of gratitude on the album and there’s a lot of attitude as well. I started thinking about other people and it expanded our writing. It sets the tone for a lot of the songs on the album and the stories.”

The band’s breakthrough debut album ‘Open Your Head’ discussed impotent issues such as mental health, drug use and regret. The follow-up ‘Homesick’, set for release in January 2022, addresses similarly important themes and ideas. “I thought a lot about mortality and dying – what it means to be alive and how lucky we are,” said the frontman. “All the songs came after the pandemic started, so thematically it intensified things.”

The band faced difficulty recording through a pandemic and had a number of challenges, especially with their production team including Jacknife Lee [U2, R.E.M., The Killers, Modest Mouse] based in LA. “It kept us on our toes, you’d get a call at 2am in the morning to talk about the tracks. That kind of thing was just crazy, the hours just don’t work. You really feel that tension and there’s a certain harshness in places production-wise.”

Of the songs on the album, five were released as singles, beginning in 2019 with lead single ‘Violet’, which now has 3.5 million streams on Spotify. This was followed by ‘Ready For More’, an upbeat song about changing negative mindsets which premiered as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record on her BBC Radio 1 show. Next came ‘Do You Really Wanna Know?‘, ‘All I Want To Hear You Say’, and ‘Forever’; all the singles were shared as part of an EP prior to the album on 6th August.

Surprisingly, Sea Girls had put out a single entitled with the same name as the album, also in 2019. However, lead singer and songwriter of the band Henry Camamile said to NME that the song sparked his inspiration for the album after his mental health suffered from a band to head. He said, “I was partying too much, and I was relying on the wrong things. I was a sad post-teen.”

He went on to explain, “After that, my perspective just changed. With my writing, I was like: ‘Shit, I feel like I’m in fucking trouble’. Things had just got worse and I felt miserable. I started writing a lot more bluntly, a lot more truthfully.”

The band have also revealed that they will be embarking on an album launch UK tour at the end of the year and into 2021, assuming shows can be held safely, given the unpredictable Covid-19 pandemic. Just this week, new additional dates were added in January, and the date at Manchester’s recently rescued Gorilla venue sold out, as have gigs in Birmingham and Cardiff.

Sea Girls have recently shared another sneak peak into their forthcoming debut album, ‘Open Up Your Head‘, with a new track called “All I Want to Hear You Say“. The track is premiered alongside an animated music video directed by Tjoff Koong Studios.

It is only two months away to the official release of a very first full-length of emerging indie band Sea Girls. The four-piece is blessing us once again with an uplifting guitar-y anthem “All I Want to Hear You Say“.

The track is the second of the fourteen-song tracklist on ‘Open Up Your Head‘, and it showcases a different aspect of the band’s songwriting skills. Following the lead, “Do You Really Wanna Know?“, a single that talks about the state of being in one’s own head and mental health, “All I Want to Hear You Say” is a take on being in love with someone so much that it becomes a cute obsession over that person.

“How you doing? / Well, I want you to know that I am doing better than I was before / How you doing? / Well, I want you to know that really I’m on your news feed twice a day / I see you in the papers, I go to all your plays / And even if I want to, I can’t look away / It ain’t easy to forget you / It’s all I want to hear you say,” sings frontman Henry Camamile.

Camamile talked to Stereoboard about the track: “When I wrote this song I was trying to channel some emotional highs and lows of the likes of Kurt Cobain. Full of visual adrenalin, it builds with rushes of excitement and lack of control. Someone build a roller coaster through the city and we’ll get on it.”

It is supposedly because of the situation of coronavirus at the moment that keeps the London group from filming a video with themselves in it. However, Korean-Swedish duo Tjoff Koong Studios—consisting of Tezo Kyungdon Lee and Magnus Lenneskog—has helped the song come to life with a rollercoaster-themed video portraying the “emotional highs and lows” like the frontman intended to express through the song.

Sea Girls are the second artist right now to drop an animation to promote a single. Prior to the “Violet” group, Dua Lipa just unveiled a cartoon clip for her latest single “Hallucinate“.

Rookie indie band Sea Girls has revealed a new music video for their latest single, “Do You Really Wanna Know?“. The track is cut from their recently announced debut studio album, ‘Open Up Your Head‘, which will be released on August 14 via Polydor Records.

The four-piece newcomer is gearing up for making gigantic impacts on the UK music scene. After sharing a string of singles and four impressive EPs, the London lands are jumpstarting their first proper era with debut album ‘Open Up Your Head‘.

“Do You Really Wanna Know?” is the first of fourteen tracks picked as the introduction. “I’ve been overthinking all of my life. They’ll ask me up in Heaven why I fell on my knife,” the track kicks off with such moody and depressing lyrics about mental health and self-deprecation. How ubiquitous of those lyrics nowadays!

But what makes the track an infectious indie banger is the hook that goes, “Do you really wanna know what I’d change about myself? Do you really wanna know who’s been messing with my health?” And, yes, with such catchiness like this, we definitely want to know!

Francesca de Bassa helps crafting an animated visual for the tune, with various images of the bandmates collected to make infinite confusing yet amazing collages that perfectly fit the song’s mood. Have a listen to the track and check out the video below.

Formed in 2015, Sea Girls consist of four Londoners, including Henry Camamile (vocals, guitar), Rory Young (lead guitar), Andrew Noswad (bass), and Oli Khan (drums). Their styles are anthemic indie tunes that remind us the work by indie heroes like Circa Waves, Sundara Karma, and Sam Fender.

Their first release was the ‘Call Me Out‘ EP, followed by three more: ‘Heavenly War‘, ‘Adored‘, and ‘Under Exit Lights‘. Their hype has been so high that they have been invited to perform at big music events like BBC’s The Biggest Weekend and the Reading and Leeds Festivals. What’s more, they were included in the BBC’s Sound of 2019 poll.

This upcoming August, the group will unveil their very first full-length, ‘Open Up Your Head‘. The album comprises fourteen tracks, including their previous hits like “Violet” and “Ready for More“.

Frontman Henry Camamile talked with Dork about the record’s background and how it was “really important”: “To my friends, to the band and to my family about how I really felt. I think this album is really important because there’s a shitload of truth there.”

“It really is opening up mine and the guys’ heads and pouring out songs and pouring out truth. I think it’s really important, y’ know? We’re going to put the album out, and I’m going to talk truthfully about it.”

The BBC Sound of 2019 longlist has been revealed, and it’s a list that leans strongly on solo artist as the stars of the next year. This year’s top five will be revealed in January, on Radio 1 and BBC News, with one artist announced each day from Monday the 7th of January. The winner will then be revealed on Friday the 11th of January.

Now in its 17th year, the list showcases the hottest rising stars, that we should keep our eye on in 2019. Mahalia and Slowthai, flamenco singer Rosalía, R&B star Ella Mai, and pop artist King Princess are all among the rising stars, who have made it onto the BBC’s Sound of 2019 longlist.

The prestigious accolade celebrates acts that have been tipped for success in the forthcoming year, with previous winners including the like of 2018 victor Sigrid, Years & Years & Sam Smith, and Adele. Topping the list “helped me so much with reaching a new audience and giving my music some extra exposure on the radio,” says, last years winner, Sigrid.

All 10 artists on the longlist were selected by a panel of 136 influential figures inside the music industry, broadcasters and DJs, including Glastonbury boss Emily Eavis, former nominees Ellie Goulding and Stormzy, and Years & Years frontman Olly Alexander. To qualify for the accolade, nominees can’t be “widely known by the UK general public”, and will not qualify if they have been the main artist on a single or record that has charted in the UK top 10 prior to the 22nd of October 2018.

The BBC Sound of 2019 longlist was voted for by 136 critics, broadcasters and DJs, including former nominees Ellie Goulding and Stormzy. This year’s selection focuses more on solo acts, with only one band in the top 10, and for the first time, the list includes an artist who performs in Spanish.

Catalan-born singer Rosalía has hit a gold mine, by fusing flamenco rhythms with the aesthetics of trap and hip-hop, with the star recently winning two Latin Grammys for her breakout hit ‘Malamente’. Rosalía, signed to Sony, is being promoted as a mainstream act in the UK, rather than being relegated to the ghetto of “world music” – a sure sign of Latin pop’s increasing significance.

James Stirling, the head of BBC Music and BBC Music Introducing, said: “For 17 years the BBC Music Sound Of list has been celebrating exciting up-and-coming talent and this year we are proud to recognise the work of such an eclectic mix of musicians. There’s a wealth of talent coming through and I look forward to seeing the artists build their reputations in 2019”.

As 2019 rolls round, the BBC reckons that it could be the year that the likes of Mahalia, Grace Carter, King Princess and Slowthai could achieve huge success. The full list of nominees includes Dermot Kennedy – ‘Power Over Me’, Ella Mai – ‘Boo’d Up’, Flohio – ‘Wild Yout’, Grace Carter – ‘Silence’, King Princes – ‘1950’, Mahalia – ‘Wish I Missed My Ex’, Octavian – ‘Party Here’, Rosalía – ‘Malamente’, Sea Girls – ‘Too Much Fun’, and Slowthai – ‘Ladies’.

Speaking about the list, BBC Radio 1 DJ, Annie Mac said: “The list is filled with incredibly talented people and is a real reflection of where music is heading in 2019. So many of the artists are truly innovating in their fields. It’s exciting to champion new music across the BBC and share these artists with the audience.”
